Service and agent get 5 stars Agent was excellent, everything was ready to go and the pickup process was fast. The facility was nice on the inside but the parking lot was rough. Car was ok, not great. I hope the penalized the renter(s) who smoked.
If I could give zero stars, I would. This is the most worthless place. Don’t use the website to reserve a car if you’re expecting one from this location. “Our website doesn’t track our inventory.”Just beware before you take a trip to this wonderful section of town... just to have to walk home or call another Uber to get you somewhere else. 👎👎👎
They dont tell you that they dont except a chauffeurs license. According to them, it is not a real license. If we got pulled over by the police, they would accept a chauffeurs license so why cant a rental car company. If thats going to be one of your policies and you need to put it on your website. My family did not come to Florida for a fun vacation, we came to be with my grandma as she was dying. We flew down here but flying back was going to be way too expensive (we are not the most wealthy family). It was cheaper to rent a car and drive back. So now my grandma is dead, most of us have jobs to get back to, and we have no way of getting home without spending all of our money. Well we just called corporate and they said that they do accept a chauffeurs license. So, we called Hertz back and they told us it was their district managers rule. We asked for his/her managers number and they refused to give it to us. So we called the Hertz location in Winter Haven and they are a lot nicer and have better customer service. They also accept a chauffeurs license. Moral of the story, Lakeland location does not follow corporate policy and you should never rent from them.
I reserved a cargo van online weeks ago.. Only to be told when I went to pick it up that they put $500.00 on hold while ya have it. No where in the fine print was this told to me online. If it had been I wouldnt have reserved it.BAD COMPANY! Ill take my business elsewhere, Ill find a way.
Small run-down building on the outside in downtown Lakeland. Staff was extremely friendly and very efficient. Explain everything but did not go into the hard cell mode that they usually do. Car was clean the fuel tank was full.
Not the nicest of places. But not many rental car loss are in great areas. Only disappointment was when I found a better rate online, through priceline, they wouldnt match it. Had to cancel first reservation and go through priceline to get better deal.
This place is absolutely horrible. they will let you reserve a car on their website, even though they don’t have any inventory. They also don’t bother to call you to tell you not to come pick up the non existent car. all the joker employees, you suck and you should learn how to pick up a phone and call customers. Will never rent a car from Hertz again.
Well they are definitely committing fraud at this location, I rented through my insurance from the 2/9-2/11 and they charged me for an extra day.. not only did I return the car on time but I returned it on the 11th at 9:00 am and I gave the key to Stephanie, she doesn’t give me any paperwork but says I’m good.. I get a call later that evening asking me where the car was I said on your lot I turned it in this morning ask Stephanie and was still charged an extra day.. I had to fight to get my money back, so In the future get your receipt because they are irresponsible I’m still waiting on my money.. I wouldn’t go here unless your desperate there is only ever 1 person working and a lot of chit chat, instead of working..

Highly disappointed. Made a reservation, paid the cost of the rental but upon arrival was advised that I still had to pay tax and had to use a major credit card. Unfortunately with no major credit card, the hoops they made and me jump through, I have $400 between two bank that I have to wait 7-10 business days to get back and no rental car. This means the room I reserved is gonna get a no show and Ill still be charged the full amount. Had they not done a bait and switch Id be on the road to a family emergency but I have $400 held up and $300 lost for a room I cant use.

Isaac is a wonderful man who always makes the whole process easy.. my dad passed away unexpectedly and Isaac handled everything quickly and professionally to get me on the road all the way to NY.. without his help I wouldn’t have made it to my dads services.. We got there to pick up the minivan that we had reserved and theybwouldnt accept a chauffeurs license. Nowhere on the website did it say that they didnt accept a drivers license. A chauffeur license is a drivers license. There is no reason for this policy.

Reserved a midsize, they tried to give me a cargo van. They wanted to charge me extra for a small SUV when it was there fault. Luckily someone cancelled while I was there, but side mirrors on the car they gave me couldnt be adjusted.

Seems we have had the same bad experiences as others have had. We requested an SUV but received a Malibu which was had not been cleaned (during a pandemic!!) and had been smoked in, even though it was designated a non smoking vehicle. Since we needed the vehicle right away we did not have a chance to exchange it for a clean one. We also had to put air in one of the tires as soon as we got the vehicle and were then charged $100.00 for a damaged tire when we returned it...starting to sound like a scam...Obviously, we would NOT recommend this business!
Hertz did not have the car I reserved so they gave me a van. They gave me a van with the tire caution light on. Since Hertz offered it I thought nothing of it, but then while I was driving on I-75 north the tire blew out. It was 1215 am. So I call hertz road side assistance, waited 1 hr and 15 mins for some foreign person to answer the phone, then hang up on us. Her accent was so bad I could not understand her so she hangs up on us.. At 1215 am on the middle of I 75 N.Then the next morning I call Hertz and they said I will have to pay for a new tire because I did not get the damage waiver.. HERTZ should have never gave me a van with a tire light on the dashboard! So if u ever need emergency road side assistance do not count on Hertz. Do what I did, i spent 2 hrs trying to find the way to lower the tire and changed it myself. Your better off, Hertz will not answer until the next morning. Good Luck yall.

Our Insurance company recommended this location as part of our claim. We upgraded to a Chevy Tahoe and when we were given the vehicle it smelled like smoke and had ashes in the backseat. When we returned the vehicle we were assessed a $300.00 smoking fee. We are a non-smoking family and are being charged a fee that should have been given to the driver before us. Isaac (store manager) is not listening, he is refusing to research this and charge the correct driver. Our character is being questioned and we are being treated unfairly. I have filed a claim with the Better Business Bureau. We thought we were dealing with a reputable company but the service here has been terrible. How many other people have been charged erroneous fees?

My appointment was at 8:30 pick up, not when you will get a car and call. I am a President Circle member, if I am treated this way, just imagine the rest. WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Coming from lakeland, Ive found that its only about 15 minutes faster to get a rental from this location compared to driving all the way to orlando and getting a rental from the airport. Which shows how bad this location is seeing as how its a 5 minute drive from my home and mco is a 50 minute drive.
If you value your time dont waste it here they will give you a reservation and not have a car when you show up. They couldve used better customer service and contacted us before we drove all the way here. DO NOT RENT HERE ITS TERRIBLE.
This place is awful. Had to stand and wait for an hour to pick up the car I reserved. They up charged me because the only cars they had left were the more expensive ones. Staff was inconsiderate and not helpful. Lots of other guests getting turned away without cars even though they had reservations. I was one of the lucky ones. Don’t go here!
Reserved a car and when I got there people in front of me had already been waiting two hours. Why would you accept a reservation on not save anyone a car? Multiple people were told they didnt have any cars. Shame on you Hertz. Your customer service sucks a$$
Rented a car through hot wire. I accepted hot wires car insurance thinking it was Hertz insurance. Luckily no damage. There was only 1 person working at the time he leased the car and then went out to clean the car. I was to pick up my car at 10 hoping to get on the road fromFlorida to Georgia. Ended up leaving at 12:30.The other people waiting were mad. I k NJ ow it wasnt his fault but he was really cordial and nice. I think his name was Dante. I give him 5 stars because he was cool under pressure. And professional. He even took the time to help me set up my blue tooth in the car.

Rented a car during pandemic because internet said no deposit during the crisis and I was charged the normal 200 dollars. I also needed to contact the branch in order to extend my rental as well as exchange for something bigger and I spoke to the newer white guy here who has been so rude to me every time I come in the branch and he said that my rental had been extended for a week and I would be able to have them swapped. Well I came in today and he was yet again the person I had to go to and his attitude was down right horrible. He didn’t extend my car and told me it was late and that if I wanted to changed out my car I would have to close my current contract. I’m a hertz plus member and if I can’t get my issues resolved politely then I will cancel my membership and take my business else where.

Went to pick up a pre paid car. Arrived 7 minutes after my reservation time. They were closed!!! They closed at the same time I had reserved to get the car. I never went inside because I was met by a man outside who just kept saying..we are closed as a response to my questions. I had my children with me and decided to just walk away. Clearly he was agitated. When I called customer service they had the nerve to state they needed permission to refund my money because the center marked me as a no show. No refunds. The wanted to know why I was late by 7 minutes. I stated traffic and they told me that it needed to be reviewed. Nevertheless I stayed on the phone until they agree to give me back 647.23. I then went across the street to Budget where they were helpful and most important had great customer skills. The owner of this branch is going to reply with a generic statement. The whole branch and ALLLLLL of its employees need to be fired. Throw the whole center away!!!
Isaac has been a great help for me. He worked with me and State Farm insurance after my vehicle was stolen. I highly recommend him and his staff. They worked hard to get my vehicle ready even though it had just been returned from a previous rental. Thanks guys!
This is the worst place. DO NOT GO HERE OR TRUST THEIR WEBSITE !! The online site tells you one thing and then you get there and are told something totally different. Their explanation is that the website is wrong and they dont know why it says it. Then they say I have to do it this way because it doesnt let me change it. Hmm if the system is setup that way then how can the computer system that supposedly binds you to these so called rules (which is the same one that informs us of terms) is wrong and the information that it gives us is inaccurate. Bad customer service with a slice of unprofessionalism on the side and topped with incompetent employees.

Great Great Great, had problems with Orlando Florida airport rental and took here for exchange. In and out in 1/2 hour.Saved our vacation. Put wife as driver without charge.1st time using Hertz, always used enterprise and they started charging for wife, plus Florida tolls less than others rentals.

I was supposed to be picked up at 7:45 this morning after I dropped my car off for repairs. They were over an hour late picking me up and made me wait another hour once I got to the Hertz building. At the time I’m writing this, I am still waiting. I will NEVER use this company again.
We have been renting from hertz for years when we return the car the branch manager accuse us of smoking in the car but neither one of us smoke we was racial profile because he Immediately say well who did you let hold the car we replied that we don’t have kids he flat out repeatedly stating that was ashes but remind you when we pick up the car he was the one to check the car out we wait 10 minutes after we paid for him to do a quick touch up on the car and told us we can go rent somewhere else he is not a people person customer service is everything

Renting car while vehicle in body shop. Chevy Malibu, very nice upgrade. Pleasant staff and minimal wait time. Delivered rental to residence.
This was a terrible experience. I called them to make sure they could provide a rental car for me through a voucher for another location. They assured me they could. I called them again later on to make sure they had they car ready and were sure they could take care of me because I had only an hour and a half to get to my next job. Again, they assured me they could. I showed up and not only did it take them 20 minutes to get to me (there was only one other customer and only one employee actually doing any work. The rest of them looked at me and went straight to the back where I could see them al standing on a circle. So I waited. Finally when the ONE decent employee got to me, nothing was ready for me. I eventually had to leave without my rental because I was already late for work. They said they’d call me when they got the issues figured out. I never got that call. I wasn’t served here at all. I’ve never left a review before, not a negative one, but they have to realize that people have lives and they can’t mess around with them. Get your job done and if you can’t do it, be honest. Now I have to take a day off work to go deal with another rental place an hour away. Hopefully they’re actually competent.
TOO BAD I cant post negative stars! DO NOT RENT A CAR FROM HERE EVER! I was in a car accident and the other drivers insurance sent me here for my rental. I should have taken pictures before I left the car lot! 48 hours after I dropped off the car they called saying we damaged the car. When we went in they suggested we pay $150 to make it go away. We filed a claim with our car insurance and ended up having to pay! Viking Services is the collection agency they use and it is a scam! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!
Had reservations and when we went to get our car there were 4 people ahead of us. Problem was there was only one guy working in the entire place, and he was out washing a car. There were certainly not enough cars on the lot for everyone waiting. We waited about a half hour and no one had even been checked out. We left, not getting a car and not sure what to do. Certainly not going back there. They need to hire more help and stop taking reservations for cars they don’t have.

I rented from this location for almost 10 months straight and while there were a couple minor glitches here and there, the customer service and overall experience was great. Almost every employee was courteous, honest and thorough in providing great service. Alfonze was superb, taking time to explain things and answer questions over the course of my rental and even fixing mistakes that were made at one point by another rep on my contract. The cars were OK, rates pretty good, cs great. I would definitely return and recommend.

Fernando was extremely helpful in correcting a botched rental service. I used this location because of a partnership with my insurance company. The first car they gave me reaked of cigarette smoke and even had burn holes in the backseat. After some back and forth, Fernando took charge and went above and beyond the expectation to make the situation reflect what one should expect from Hertz.
I had a business meeting and needed a car ASAP. I had a reservation at Enterprise on US 98, but they had terrible customer service and had no urgency to get me to my meeting on time. At Hertz, I had the pleasure of working with Anna, who went above and beyond to help me. They were fast, accommodating, and most importantly nice/professional. I would highly recommend them over Enterprise in Lakeland. A+++

Garbage. Pay attention to the other reviews. We have always gone with Enterprise and we only went with Hertz because it was through someone elses insurance (State Farm). The location is in an awful area, very inconvenient. I dont know if this location is indicative of their others but this place was awful. None of the employees know what is going on, they all try to lay responsibility on someone else. Car selection is very limited. Business is located in a bad area, inconvenient. If you can avoid this place, you should. ALSO - MAKE SURE TO CAREFULLY CHECK YOUR STATEMENT! They charge a $50 authorization....well, I can understand that. But two weeks later. I saw on my credit statement that they had charged me $104 for insurance that I did NOT agree to because I already have full coverage insurance on my own car. I had to call their customer service center and sure enough, they saw that I did not authorize this coverage and they refunded me, but it still took 3 to 5 days.
Just left this location. Asian woman at the counter asks me for a credit card and my ID. I provide both, and she insultingly asks if my bank card is a prepaid card because she will need to run my credit. I only need a car for two days, but I am told that because theyre closed on Saturdays, the car must be rented the entire weekend. So, because this location has bad hours, people are forced into renting an additional day??? Not only this, but I have a valid coupon for a weekend rental (which my husb found in his email after they tried to force a three day rental), and they claimed their system would not take it. When I asked if they were privately owned, the same lady said no, but my system wont accept the code. Why does a Hertz car rental company not except Hertz promotional offers if they are not privately owned? I feel this location is taking advantage of the people in that reside in area, especially people who are desperate, and without options. Unfortunately, that is not me, and I did not rent. I travel frequently, and prefer not to put excessive mileage on my own car, but I will make an exception today. I typically rent in Orlando, because its closer to my house, but because I was in this area, I decided to come in and rent. Wont ever make that mistake again. I dont recommend this location. They overcharge, take advantage, and do not honor their own promo offers. They wont get over on me.
Customer service was GREAT! but the car was on empty when we picked it up, and I understand you return the car the way you got it, but we had to hit the first gas station we saw. Then when we got on the highway to begin our trip, we hit 55 MPHIL and the car felt like it was going to shake itself apart. We had to switch cars in Orlando. Other than that, it was great.

The ladies there were great. Specially Spanish lady she is the best. Quick, explained everything and she even cleanes the cars.

This is the problem with the 21st century. Companies are worried about the dollar at the end of the day. They no longer worry about trying to help a customer. Made a reservation for an SUV and when we got there was told oh sorry I was to busy to call u back YESTERDAY and tell you i didnt have one. Great Service with good rates
I have rented many cars, but this has by far been the worse expierence that I have ever had with a rental car. First, I went online and prepaid for a car and when I arrived to pick it up they didnt have it and they told me that I can have something else that was a lot smaller. When I told them that I needed something the same size they said it would be another $150 on top of the $168 that I had already put on my card. When I said go ahead with it anyway, then they said that I would have to pay another $200 on top of that in which I was never informed of as well as never seeing anything like that on their website. So in the end a $168 car rental turned into $518. Then I said just refund the original $168 back onto my card and they said that I have to contact customer service. Once I contacted customer service they passed me around from department to department and finally someone with a pulse cancelled my reservation but now I have to wait 10-12 business days for a response as to when I might receive my money back. Your not allowed to speak with anyone in that department. I highly recommend staying away from HERTZ and using BUDGET. I made my reservation online and when I arrived there they had the car and the price was exactly what I was quoted online. Stay away from HERTZ, they have low prices online but charge you MUCH, MUCH MORE once you arrive.
I made a reservation over the phone I asked the gentleman if I needed a credit card/ or if they ran credit checks he told me know that I could pay with a debit card, so I drove all the way to Lakeland and then get told I had to have a credit check done and didn’t get the car so was stranded their and employees could careless never shipping with hertz again.
On the day I went to turn in a one way rental, they blocked the entrance in an attempt to close before their posted hours.
Worst experience ever. Rented a car the day before for 17 days and when I got there the next morning to pick it up, they informed me they didnt have a car for me. This place shouldnt even be open, they dont have a big enough lot for maybe 10 cars and then they wanted to charge me $10 more per day to rent another vehicle. Bypass this one and go to another Hertz location.

I booked a reservation at this location and when I showed up I was told we dont have any cars. When I said ok, youve informed me of the problem, do you have a solution? I was told I could wait around and see if we get any cars. Absolutely abhorrent customer service. Btw: I went to Avis a block away and not only did they honor the price that Hertz quoted, they put me in an upgraded vehicle. This isnt the first time I had this same experience with this location and I was trying to give them another chance.Not only will I NOT EVER rent from this location, but NEVER from Hertz. (Boy oh boy I rent a lot of cars, too)! Oops. Shame on you Hertz and especially your agent for not even attempting to rectify their mistake!
Call ahead of time, order uber to get there only to find out the person on the phone couldnt tell me I need it proof of insurance to rent a car, end up going across the street to avis car rental for a cheaper rate and not needed to show proof of insurance, what a rip off it was over $150.00 for there $25 a day insurance alone plus the cost of the rental or something like that NEVER AGAIN

I enjoyed the car. I did not enjoy being made to feel as though I am not as important as the next customer. I was told in numerous phone calls that its first come first serve. I walked into Hertz with a reservation before the other customer who had been told that an altima would be his. I only got the vehicle because his card declined. I was there before him, and shouldve been given that consideration first. What applies to one should apply to all.

Had a reservation for noon. Got here on time and there are no cars available. Several people waiting in the lobby with the same issue. Some for over an hour and a half. The employees would hide in the back room to avoid talking to the customers. Absolutely appalling. I would go to ANY other rental company to not deal with Hertz again.

I had a very tough travel day. I had to rent a car to come from Orlando-Sanford Airport to Lakeland, where I work and where my car was located. I dropped off the rental and went outside to try to call a cab or an uber. Couldnt connect to uber and was about to call for a cab. A very nice young lady asked me if i was ok and I explained my situation. She said that they could get a driver to take me to my car. Super, super awesome customer service. She even offered me water and coffee...

Reserved a car to be picked up on May 26, 2016 at 12 p.m. Got there at 11:50 a.m. They were all out of cars. Had to wait almost 2 hrs. to get a car after they tried to send me to Winter Haven to get a car but wouldnt take any money off the rental if I drove over there from Lakeland. I was told they would only pay for the gas in the rental car. Still had to pay $200 deposit even though I was using my credit card which I personally think is silly, I could understand if I were using a debit card, prepaid card, etc. So dissapointed and highly upset.
Pleasant experience, customer service was great.
