Hands down, worst vehicle rental experience of my life. We had a passenger van booked 6-7 weeks in advance with the Lakeland, FL location. At pickup I did a walk around and noticed a few small roaches near the drivers seat. I mentioned to the clerk but being told that there were no other vans available and we had to leave on family vacation the next morning, we had no choice but to accept the situation. The following day 7 family members and I drove 16 hours to our destination to find many many more roaches as we unpacked our luggage. These were small German cockroaches and there were many. So many that some even entered the private home we rented through our luggage. It was horrible. The next couple of days we spent hours on the phone (mostly on hold) to be told nothing could be done other than call around local Budgets ourselves (to constantly be placed on hold) and see if they would swap out. It was nearly impossible to get local branches on the phone and the central operators we did speak to had no way of verifying inventory at specific locations. We were basically told that nothing could be done and I couldn’t help but think that if the van had broken down or been involved in a crash, what would have happened? The roach infestation was so gross. We could not return from dinner out after dark without sending someone in to stir them all off the seats and across the floor into hiding. We are on day 5 of an 8 day trip and I am so disappointed in this experience that I will do my best to never use Budget again and recommend the same to anyone that asks. Go elsewhere. It’s not worth having a problem to only be told you’re out of luck. I wish Google would let me post the video I took so you could see exactly what I’ve described. It is unreal!just in case anyone would like to avoid this particular van, attached are pics including Florida license GVX Q82. Counter staff could not have cared less when I dropped it off so I wouldnt be surprised if they continued to send it out. The van needs a professional exterminator to address the infestation so customers should request a copy of the treatment invoice. It has now been two weeks since I retuned the van and still no response. No one has bothered to contact me despite an automated response indicating a supervisor would (tried to report online due to repeated dead ends over the phone). Again, the worst rental experience ever and I feel like they have not been held accountable in the least. Good luck with this business!

Mixed feelings, they did provide the vehicle I reserved and more equipment than expected, but the interior was nasty dirty. Lots of food on the ground and seats, spit finger art on the rear door windows. If the third row is folded/closed, I would recommend to open it and check it... Had to service the vehicle before the road trip because it was almost due for its first oil change and was low on engine coolant.

The staff was very helpful and made check in very easy and quick. We even got a surprise upgrade. Location was easy to find and we were in and out very fast. Our car was new and had no issues.

The services were like no other, big shout out to Kia, her patience was great. Never lost her cool, I thought I was prepared and she waited for me💐💐💐. That is just one of the great services I received. Once all was in place, in and out. Their selection is great, prices are great. Their upgrade price like no other. I reserved an economy and they upgraded me to. See pics. Now, this is the Lakeland, Florida location on Memorial Blvd. Now if service is this way at all Budgets. You have found a diamond in the rough.

Wish I could give zero stars. I have rented vehicles here multiple times for my business without issue. I recommended them to a friend who made a reservation and paid online only to be told when picking up the car that she needed a major credit card to rent the vehicle. Budget already took her money. Now she has to fight for a refund. This is low class, Budget. Never ever will I rent a vehicle from this company again.

I got lucky getting a truck. They dont take my bank #Chime card for whatever reason. All in all got what I need. I dont think it should matter what card you use as long as I put my hard working money into it.

My husband and I went in looking for a large size suv to take our kids on a trip for our 19th wedding anniversary after going somewhere else first who had hidden fee pop up at the time of paying. The lady in the office WAS MORE THAN AMAZING! She helped us and was incredibly kind and got us into a vehicle in less than 15 mins! I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND using this place over any other car rental near by! The first place went was the complete opposite! Budget Cars had superb customer service! Thank you budget cars for helping us go on our first family trip!!!

Theres no way any of these five-star ratings can be real. Avoid this place at all costs. They announce deposits and other fees after youve booked and paid your reservation online. If you challenge that woman behind the counter she doesnt catch obvious attitude, she remains polite, but just for challenging her, she will make your transaction very difficult. When I said that I might need my money refunded, she leans over to the other agent and says, if he wants a refund, hes going to have to wait until Monday to process it (it was Friday). Ive heard from other friends that they too have had similar experiences and will never go back. Believe the one star reviews! Theres no way I would believe anyone would give five stars if theyve actually dealt with that woman and raised a question she didnt like. Shes plays with peoples money and plans for a rental. Print everything from your reservation so that when she overcharges you, and she will, you can prove to your credit card company that your dispute is valid!

Yes. Renting from this place is VERY CHEAP compared to U-Haul or any other place. But that does not divert from the fact that they are cheap swindlers that will try to get every penny out of you that they can. My Mother was renting a truck for us and they did everything they could to confuse her and make her pay more money. Luckily, I stepped in and saved us over 450 dollars no thanks to their scams. Budget, your customer service is pathetic.

Dont let the location throw you. It is a well run establishment with a professional staff without all the bells and whistles, and therefore, offer great rates.Ive rented great cars twice from here about 9 months apart. Each time, I called ahead with questions, and each time, I received excellent, detail responses regarding their process and requirements for rental. Upon arrival both times at the location, the attendants were very professional, efficient, and pleasant, again answering my questions that served to verify the information that was provided over the phone earlier.My overall impression is that the employees are very well chosen and know the rental business well including the practices of their competitors.

Its a hole in a wall so you really cant expect much. I did receive quick service and a great car. I gave it 3 stars because they charged me for a full size car when my original reservation was an economy. They did not have any economys available, so I had no choice but to get was a full size. They also questioned my credit card.

Was not informed that there was an additional 250.00 deposit on top of the rental fee.Now its going to take a week to get my money back.Never will do business with this establishment again.

If only Zero stars were allowed. First off, this company should be closed permanently. I reserved online, go to pick up my SUV, and Im informed that not only are there NO vehicles but the rudest employee has NO information, was completely unprofessional and Im to call a reservation# to see about refunding my money. Make said call supposedly a refund was issued. 3 days later find out the SUPERVISOR didnt do his job when he should have and no refund had been issued!!!! On to round 2! This is a bunch of crooks sitting around stealing peoples money! DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE..RUN

I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt since it already has really bad reviews and THEY ARE ALL TRUE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. Called in advance to make sure there would be no issues and thats exactly what happened. The rep lied and tried to act like it wasnt her I spoke with. Had to call the 800 number to get a full refund. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE LIED TO AND THEN TOLD THEY CANT DO ANYTHING THERE. Enterprise is way better🤙

Upcharge like crazy after they dont have your reservation (be careful the charges you sign for dont represent your verbally consulted pick-up repitoirre nor does it come close to matching the reservation fees; which would have been fair and what you wanted to spend) if you return only they dont give you any credit or money back.

This is the worst place to try and rent a vehicle! Dont waste your time and money! Had a reservation, called to double check on everything, arrive to pick up car, nothing but problems. Had to call 800 number to cancel reservation, apparently people in office cant handle this task. Went straight to Enterprise, no problem!

Vehicle was not ready at time reserved. Had to wait 20 minutes for the vehicle to be prepped and the windshield was still covered in bugs. Couldnt use the restroom while I waited because the restrooms were for employees only. So much for taking care of the customer. Employees were pleasant.

Great service! Cars are always in tiptop condition. Gerri Combee and her associate will do everything for the customer to get the best price. I will return.

Terrible. Cars wheels balance was off, making car shake. Used quarter tank of gas didnt go anywhere. Transmission slipping. Car was dirty inside. Had glue allover out side body of car. Car sears Killed my back . Could not sit comfortably. Had to waste almost 3hrs of vacation time exchanging car.. TJ

They are a lousy place to rent from, not good at solving your problems you have with renting, dont get back with you good luck trying to get anything back if you are overcharged.would not recommend them to anyone.

Nice place, friendly, AC office they let you come inside, unlike that other place that sets chairs up at the hot noisy highway, and gives you hot air about what they have reserved. The ones that supposedly deliver.

Updated review. They used to be always quick and friendly. They used to not push you to death on insurance. Now it depends on who you get at the counter. The cars used to be really nice more often than not. They were older models of nicer cars. But I havent had one of those in quite a while. Sometimes car is a bit dusty inside, but they have one car that outright stinks. The rental office feels run down.Bottom line you used to get fast service from a friendly person who doesnt push you on the insurance. You used to get a nicer car. The only negative was the place felt a little run down. This used to be a no brainer. Now I go to Avis/Budget in Winter Haven. They dont push on insurance and its a nicer office with cleaner cars.

No one answers phone at local office. Had minor damage to rental (cracked oil pan).Filed claim with my insurance the day of accident. Budget refused to handle claim through my insurance company. Charged $1000 to my credit card for repairs. Told me my insurance would have to reimburse me. Took over 2 months to send me the repair bills so I could submit them to insurance. Staff was very uncooperative. Would give zero stars if possible. Will not use this company again.

If I could give zero stars I would. First off the car was filthy both inside and out. It was supposed to be an upgrade, but the ride was like riding in a jeep. We felt every bump and pothole. We were then directed to where the car was and told we could get it.(It was parked at the very back of the lot, wedged between the fence and another car which was only 2 inches apart and there were roosters all around the car and they left evidence on the vehicle itself). Then, upon returning the car we had a balance due. I gave them permission to only put a specific amount on my card. The other amount owed was to be taken from a different card. They charged the full amount to my card, nearly 3Xs the amount I gave them permission to charge on my card. I was then given a number to call to try to get the amount put back on my card and they refused. The young lady behind the counter was trying to help me out, but the 2 people i spoke with on the phone were not helpful and spoke to me like I was stupid, repeating themselves and interrupting me as I was trying to explain, which made me lose my temper with them. Never going back to them! Horrible experience!

I just arrived 5 minutes late to get my car. They told me that they closed the system and can not give the car. Budget do not refund my money. Sorry, they offer me to refund $9 (I paid $159). I did a lot of reservation from the same place before and everytime I went there, they made me wait about 30 minutes... It is just not fair!

Not happy with the customer service of this location. Charged for an entire day because we could not make it back at exactly same time we picked the vehicle up. Ideally, we would have dropped it off the night before, but they do not have a drop box which is is incredibly inconvenient for customers. A noon drop off was not feasible due to my teaching schedule. Enterprise is MUCH easier to work with and MUCH more understanding. Also, this location is also in a horrible part of town.

This is two part. First the expierence at the Tituville Budget was not a good expierence. 2 STARS at best. We had reserved a 26 truck. Supposed to pickup at 9am. At 8:45 they call and said that they didnt have a 26 truck. Had too get a 16. Which meant we had to move twice(charged us for bigger truck) Literally load and drive 95 miles then go back and do it all again. Then young man was completely aloof and a little bit if a smart alec. He as if we wanted to insurance plan. I called Geico to see if they covered it meanwhile he says I didnt ask if they covered it. I asked if you wanted our coverage. Than add he gave us zero info. Like how toll worked. Just pointed at the sign. Drop off in Lakeland was just the opposite. I heard both young ladys explaing in detail everything to other renters. Like you have to stop at weigh staions. What? That would have been nice to know. The drop off Budget was a 5 star expierence.

The only rental agency thats open on Sundays. A bit slow service, but thats expected for being the only place in town thats open. They had exactly what we booked and we had no trouble with the car. Would go back again!

I told her she doesnt need to be condescending and I will not be doing business with the company and she says yep bye... so Im assuming they get that a lot. Maybe they should reevaluate their customer service.

They charge you outragoues prices. Your also supposed to get 24 hrs with the truck which is a lie. We were told WE had to bring it back @ 9:30 even when we got the truck at closing time or we would be charged all over again. Our paper work stated 5:30 was our drop off time. These people will rip you off. Lesson learned!

Our (the smiths)expirence was about rhe worst we had reservation charged then cancelled automically we almost didnt get the money back, we were on tje phone for hours trying to fix it. We then areive earlier then our pickup time by like an hour and our vehicle wasnt there it was and hoir and a half away so webhad to pick it up after the scheduled time. The only good thing of this expirence was Casey she did all she could to drop the rate and get our vehicle quickly. This women is extremely great at her job and i give her high ratings, if it wasnt for her we wouldnt have used budget at all. I hope this might help future buyers. Thank you again casey

Reserved truck...got an uber all the way across town for them to not have the reserved truck. Girl behind the counter was incredibly rude. Then several days later the card i made reservation with was charged $50 because I didnt cancel my reservation or pick the truck up. Still waiting on a refund a week later.

1.75 hour by the time I was in the car, 90 minutes of this in the line of 5 people. I take the Pre-pay Fuel option and now theyve billed me $200 for gas. Terrible Company

The place was dirty, and the employees were incredibly rude. We waited an hour for our truck, and even when it was our turn, the employee kept leaving us to work with other people. She had a bad attitude. This was my first and last time I will ever use Budget.
