All the positive reviews are people who work here, or are friends and relatives of people who do.No one that lives here gives more than a 1-Star review, because the management here are literally the worst. And now they want to use a third-party company (sure!) for paying your utilities, but all the residents are getting charged an extra $10 a month for that privilege, and dont have a choice!DO NOT MOVE HERE!!
I live at the Wyatt with my room mate. Upon arrival the apartment was a little dirty, but everything was there. Other than that I havent had too many problems. Its a great place to stay for a college student.
It was ok living here the first year but after that it went downhill. My rent payment was lost twice and they tried to charge me still because they couldn’t find my money order but my rent payment was logged in. The maintenance here is terrible they don’t know how to fix sinks or toilets. It’s always noisy and people literally throw trash any where. Most importantly, the management is poorly staffed and they don’t answer the phone at the leasing office. The pool has been closed since 2019.
Experience Summary (DO NOT COME HERE) - In Feb last year I was looking for an apartment and just like some people, I also ignored the reviews on here and called the leasing agent to get a place (deluxe apartment on the website). He did a credit check and gave me a move-in date, well that is where it all got interesting- long story short: on my move-in date, I was given a broken apartment with terrible windows and a broken closet. when I objected they moved me to a halfway decent apartment. Next payment problems - I am one of those tenants that like paying ahead but down here be careful, they want your money. electric &gas can run upward $600/month, Web portal doesnt reflect what you pay, the apartment is poorly managed, fees fees fees you are the gold mine. The good part is I get let in my apartment when I am locked out and oh they attached a fee to that (
This is easily the worst place I’ve ever lived, I would give 0 stars if I could. I could write a whole book with examples and complaints, so I’ll try to keep it short. I took over a sublease here, and when I got to my room, a bunch of stuff in there was broken- the window, lights switch hanging out of the wall, bathroom sink had mold growing on the faucet (which only got bigger over time), it constantly leaked for the 5 months I lived there (as well as the kitchen faucet), and there were gross stains in my bathroom sink that I couldn’t remove. Even better, the shelf in my closet collapsed after 2 days, breaking some of my stuff. Then, management tried to get me to sign a new lease & raise my rent $100, claiming they sent me the wrong one when I moved in. I sent in maintence requests for everything in my room, & they never got fixed the entire time I lived there. They sent me “work order completed” emails a week before I moved out, but none of them were fixed. Gunshots & huge parties every weekend, you can’t get any sleep, & police usually camp outside of your building. Huge potholes & glass everywhere, I’ve popped 2 of my tires. There’s also trash everywhere, I’ve never seen a more gross complex. They switch staff and management every other month, none of them really know what’s going on, & they end up firing the ones that actually try to help you. Please save yourself money, sanity, & peace, & do not live here.
This place is the absolute WORST. When my daughter moved in the carpet was covered in stains, holes, and was extremely dirty. We cleaned it then covered it with area rugs so none of the gross carpet even showed. Now they are charging her to replace the carpet that was disgusting to begin with. On top of that they had several issues with broken dishwasher and washing machine which was gross at move in as well. This place is SHADY!!! Better off paying a little more for a decent place to live and not get ripped off.
I’m moving in Fall 2021 and the application process was so smooth! Joe, the manager, was so helpful and nice. Everything has been great so far! Plus great prices :)
I will not be renewing my lease out here i do not recommend this complex its no longer for single or students they have families out here and its just ghetto.
So excited to move in here fall of 2021! Talked to a great agent on the phone as well as got a very professional and informational tour and info session with my roommates for next year. The clubhouse is super nice, clean and these apartment complexes have a ton of great amenities. Looking forward to living here next year!
This place is probably the WORST place I will ever live. I can’t begin to express how disappointed I am with the time I spent there, and I chose to move out early. First off, my water was BROWN constantly testing over in levels for rust, and other sediments and overall looked disgusting to think I was supposed to shower in that water that was only in my bathroom in my apartment. They never fixed it, and would blame the city while my roommates had crystal clear water. Another thing is that after I moved out early, they gave my key to another future resident so they could look at my room, without my permission. When I reached out they once again did nothing to solve the problem and when I asked for confirmation that my room was not being used and locked, and that all keys were accounted for they never got back to me. I called 3 times asking for this and they would tell me they would go do this, and I would never hear from them again. Finally the cherry on top, the gunshots you hear every weekend coming from the basketball courts. Constantly having police sit in the parking lots just for the fear factor. They say they have 24 hours security but they don’t. They say they have emergency maintenance but I had to call several times and never heard back until the following Monday. I had an outlet that was glowing orange and even after I went and asked for maintenance to come fix it everyday, it took them a week to fix it. All then it was sparking and I was scared it would catch on fire. Overall this place is absolutely awful. The staff tell you they will help but when you ask for it you will never hear from them again. I hope the person living in my old room sees the water and complains as much as I did so they finally fix a year-long problem. DONT EVER LIVE HERE
Do not live here absolutely the worst place I have ever lived. Management changes monthly, maintenance sucks, the pool has been closed since 2019, workout room is always dirty or something doesnt work. Got charged twice for multiple months and then when it came time to move out they wanted me to pay 175 for broken blinds that I asked maintenance to fix and a rust bathtub!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Wyatt is a great place to live at! Highly recommend living here, it’s close to campus and also close to all necessities like shopping and grocery stores.
Perfect location right by 131 and 94. I love all the amenities and the quaint kitchen. It has a perfect home feeling!
DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT MOVE HEREMight be one of the most unprofessional apartment complex’s in Kalamazoo, like past comments they only care about getting money from you, you will pay your rent and then they will try to charge you for its a second time, when they try to bill you for something you have paid and have proof they still say “no you never paid we need money” or “we’ll make sure we get it taken care of and then take 3 months, before I moved in my roommates didn’t have a washer for over a year, they also had broken AC for almost all of summer 2020, I highly suggest going somewhere else to live if you’re looking to be stress free about your bills.
This is an awesome place to live! The staff is very friendly and always helpful :)
The Wyatt boasts strong customer service and incredible amenities. Such a great place for students to live.
The Wyatt is a great community with a very friendly staff that you can tell care! The new management team is very prompt and considerate. I would recommend this community to students looking for a place to call home!
My daughter moved in this previous August, at first it was questionable. But ever since the new management came in this previous December, it has changed and I’ve had better communication with them. They are changing the place around!
Worst place ever don’t move or work there all management is horrible I mean everybody and everything especially mel, Cody, and Justin they all need to be fired!!!!!
Horrible place to live. The staff is beyond terrible at doing their job and keeping the apartments nice and clean. If something is broken or needs fixed you might as well just do it yourself since they are bad at getting back to you. On top of everything we had neighbors that would throw party’s that would get out of hand to where people were getting guns pulled and threats of murder right on our door step. We’ve complained multiple times about them and we even asked them to send out a security guard to which they responded with “we don’t have one on duty”. My roommates and I had tried many times to find a solution with the Wyatt yet all they would say is take it to the police. Isn’t it your job to make sure your residents feel safe? Then Earlier when i signed the lease i was told over the phone that i would be qualifying for a 300$ gift card when I signed the lease. It was posted everywhere and I was told multiple times by the staff i would receive it. Not only did they hand out the gift cards 2 months later than promised, but it was also only 200$ instead of 300$. When we presented them emails of proof that we had the 300$ option they said no bc we signed up for “a different gift card” when signing the lease. I would recommend that if you ever consider living at the Wyatt to rethink your decision and move somewhere else and save your money.
This place is so irresponsible and they do not keep their documents updated. They ask my housemate to pay 2 months worth of rent because they do not have the proof of my friend paying it when I went in with him to pay the rent with money orders. Their maintenance is slow, when we first moved in, the tiles were broken, place was not well kept. The worst place to stay. They don’t care about the people who stay there and they even said I did not pay for 2 months an showed them proof and that’s when they said sorry. You are not suppose to be sorry but have the details of tenants who have paid updated. Worst receipt system.
So excited to move in- the staff has been so helpful and the amenities for the price is unbeatable! 😍
My daughter signed a lease here after having a tour of the model unit. She asked us to come up and give our input. The model was nice, it seemed like a great first apartment for her and we approved. We should have asked to see a unit that is lived in.She moved in and has been there three months. There have been several issues since day one. She went over a month with no bed. The carpet is beyond terrible and should have been replaced years ago. There is no base trim in the living room due to prior water damage. She has a built in microwave which was broken so they brought a new one which sits on the counter and did not repair or replace the old one. So now she just has broken appliances sitting in her kitchen. The furniture is covered in paint and in disrepair. However, my favorite is that there are NO WORKING smoke detectors. If something were to happen because of the lack of care for tenants safety I will be outraged and leading the lawsuit! You are receiving over $2,000 per month for this unit and it is inexcusable the condition it is in. All I see are apologies on the reviews for lack of care. Quit apologizing and take care of your tenants.
Worst place to live in Kalamazoo simply just money hungry and don’t listen to anything you have to say and make no changes for you me and my roommates have been here for 3 years and it’s been downhill since the first year we tried to ignore it but never again.
Do not live here, they never have good management. They have had multiple new management since me being here and they all don’t know how to run the complex. They take forever to fix things and you need to bug them to get stuff fixed. When they do come around to come fix it they do not do it right. They let anybody to live her and it’s student living, it a lot of families with kids. I would suggest you live at 58 west or the paddock, if you want to have an enjoyable year. 😉
It’s no secret the wyatt has had its struggles with keeping a good maintance team. I’ve lived here for going on 3 years and I was originally unhappy and frustrated, never felt heard and constantly was having issues and I also didn’t like the quality of appliances or the cleanliness when moving in. Recently I moved into a one bedroom and since day one have been blown away! The apartment was clean when moving in and I was asked if I wanted a cleaning crew to come in and do even more (appreciated that extra option!) and their new maintance team has blown me away with their kindness and promptness. Very respectful and even asked to make sure everything was done to my satisfaction after each task (I had quite a few requests). Bo (the new general manager) and his maintance team took my requests seriously and went above the minimum and made my apartment perfect for me! Not only did they accomplish every request within 24 hours but also they didn’t just do the needed things, also just helped me with things I wanted to make me happier with my place. (Examples: new blinds just because I wanted a fresh look, instead of repairing the sink leak they replaced both faucets with brand new ones! Asked before they left what else they could do and even gave me a little device in case our shower ever plugs and more.) the quality is great, the furniture I requested was perfection and delivered promptly! The new general manager, leasing manager and maintance team changed my entire perspective on living here and I truly believe they can be the change this place needed! They emailed me personally with updates and worked hard for my satisfaction with everything every step of the way. When reading the negative reviews note the dates because this is my first review on google ever but I felt like it needs to be recognized that this place is changing into a wonderful place to live!
All they care about is taking your money and theyre so rude! They dont work with you to solve a problem and when/if they do, they take months to fix. Maintenance is the absolute worst and I wouldnt recommend this place to anybody. It may look nice on the outside but its corrupted on the inside. Take this from someone who thought they could ignore all the bad reviews and think that it wont be that bad. It was.
I really wanted to like this place. I feel as though I gave it a fair shot. The staff seemed nice on move-in, and my emails were usually answered pretty quickly. However, there are so many things not to like about The Wyatt. We were promised a room that was renovated with wood floors and new countertops. I should have got it in writing because when I moved in, it was old, stained carpet, and old dingy countertops. Their solution to fix the issue was to give us new carpet a couple weeks later, which was nice I suppose. However, upon move-in, the pipes in my bathroom were clogged (shower and sink), there was a dead moth hanging from my blinds, a ripped up magazine in the living room, and a sticky film on the furniture. My bedroom desk was broken and my chair was torn and rusty. The vents and ceiling fans were dusty and dirty. The blinds in the living room were busted. The sprinklers were taped up. My roommates dresser had a broken drawer. However, on move-out, they asked that all of these things be cleaned, or a fee would be charged. As annoying as that was, we cleaned as we were asked. Shortly after move-out, we were all charged with ridiculous and falsified fees. They charged me $75 for an access card/key which I returned, and they charged us each $40 for damages. Still waiting to hear back about what these Damages are, but I can guarantee that when we left, the apartment was in the same condition as we found it, if not better. My roommates and I have called and emailed and have not received a response about these erroneous charges. They have all the time in the world for you when youre trying to sign a lease, but no time at all when youre trying to move out. Would not recommend this apartment complex. Some good alternatives would be The Arboretum or 58 West, which have much better management. I feel sorry for anyone who was abused by the management like I was. Some other red flags from my experience at The Wyatt: once our parking lot was not plowed until 4:00pm, so some cars were stuck in the parking lot and not able to leave on a weekday morning. I dont remember the exact date, but it was around mid-December 2018. In early July 2019, our air conditioning went out during the hottest days of the year. It was not fixed for about a week. A continuous problem was that there were giant potholes in the road leading up to my apartments parking lot which I had to avoid all year. On the month of move-out, they were repaired to make the facility look better for incoming tenants, but were ignored all year when I lived there. Somehow my rent mysteriously increased. I sent an email demanding this be fixed, and they fixed it, which was nice. But still shady that they tried to raise my rent by a few dollars, thinking I wouldnt notice. We had our broken blinds fixed by maintenance. This was done, but the new blinds broke shortly after. The list goes on and on...Attached are some pictures from move-in day, August 25th, 2018. You can see how disgusting my unit was. Im not making this up.Edit: Eventually, all of our falsified charges were dropped. We had to send multiple emails and call multiple times before we were finally responded to. They said they misplaced my key card and then found it, so they dropped my $75 fake charge. When we asked about the damages I mentioned, we got conflicting information. However, two of us were told it was for touch-up paint, so we assumed that was the truth. I informed them that touch-up painting is part of normal wear and tear and that we were not responsible for that per the contract. Our charges were eventually waived, but again, we had to be very persistent and call and email multiple times. Do not pay their false charges. They will use scare tactics, saying if you do not pay, we will take your bad debt to a debt collector. However, remember that you do not have any debt unless they have taken you to small claims court for your damages and won, which they have not done, and will not do. Do not pay fees you are not responsible for paying! It is how they make a quick buck.
They do not care about anything except taking your money. They are incredibly slow about getting things fixed, they are rude when you call to ask about a problem, they don’t answer your questions unless it has to do with how they will be paid. Overall just incredibly rude. The housing looks nothing like the models they show you. They are disgusting and run down. I absolutely would not recommend living here.
I loved my experience at The Wyatt. The office is very helpful in any situation /question that comes up. They communicate well with residents. I especially love the hard work that maintenance puts in. Our favorite maintenance worker is, Torrey. He is does not get enough credit for his hard work that he puts into his job.He is also very knowledgeable about any maintenance problem that occurs.
Absolutely horrible to live here!!! They lie and cheat you out!!! They don’t listen to any complaints, they had so many problems that they changed managers like 5 times!!!! Please if you need an apartment please go somewhere else because these people will lie when they say that the tenants are their priority... my friends and I suffered so much even when we called corporate on this property, corporate did nothing to help at all so if you think this place looks nice... Know that even fools gold looks nice at first glance...
Lived here years ago. Had an ok time but nothing special. 3 stars sounds about right. Dont know if its gotten better in the last few years.
THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO LIVEthe only reason they have 3 stars is because they harass their employees to leave 5 star reviews to up the average.Read them yourselves... there’s a reason there’s majority 5 STAR and majority 1 STAR!They prey on college kids that don’t know any better and don’t know their renting rights!!!DO NOT LIVE HERE!
I was without hot water for a week. I made a maintenance request because my bathtub faucet was leaking, maintenance came and said they would need to order a part for it. When they left I got an email that said my request was closed yet it was not fixed. I emailed back and they said I had to make a new request, they sent maintenance again to look at the issue and the guy said “I have to go see if we have this part, I’ll be right back” he never came back and I still had a leaking faucet. I had to make A THIRD maintenance request for the same issue. It is still not fixed and it has been at least 2 weeks since maintenance looked at it the first time. I have tried talking to people in the office an all they say is maintenance will be there when they can. Honestly wish I would never have signed.
Long honest review. I was very excited to be renting for my first time and was hopeful that everything would flow smoothly. I subleased over the summer and was very disappointed when I moved in. The Wyatt was already trying to charge us extra for a late rent fee before we even got the keys. The apartment was a mess even thought we were explicitly told that the apartment would be inspected before we moved in but that never happened. There were stains on the carpets, food still in the refrigerator, water damage on the ceiling, the dryer was not functional, hair clogging every drain, the oven was disgusting, the carpets needed vacuuming, the sinks and mirrors needed to be wiped down, dont even get me started on the toilets, everything was dusty including the ceiling fans, the windows didnt open and close easily and we broke one forcing it open. Luckily, the Wyatt gave a move in document to write down everything that was broken before we moved in that way we wouldnt be charged when we moved out. The electric bill was unexpectedly high so we lived without AC. The bill was $60 per person for the first month without AC and currently I only pay $20-$30 per month per person so I suspect something sketchy going on there. The Wyatt was pretty good at fixing the water damage, setting up fans and repainting the ceiling. However, it was clear that the maintenance guy was an active smoker because after he left it smelt like cigarettes for days. In addition, the fans used our electricity and they told us they would leave them for a day but didnt pick them up for 3 days. To compensate for our electric bill, they gave us each $2.50. When we finally moved out, we thought all the drama was over, until we got an invoice from the Wyatt. I was charged about $250 and my roommate was charged over $1,000! We made sure to clean everything up before we left but we couldnt clean up the stains left by the previous renters. Of course they didnt look at the document we filled out when we moved in. They threatened to send our charges to collection agencies and destroy our credit score. In the end, they dropped all the charges because they understood we wouldnt settle for their BS anymore. Overall my experience at the Wyatt was very disappointing. Especially if you are a WMU student, there are much better places to live that are closer to campus, cheaper and cleaner. Right now I only pay $325 a month and have no drama. You have been warned.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. The office staff is so unorganized and have no clue what they’re talking about, they have claimed to be under “better” management but that’s an entire lie. Honestly, the only good person in the office is Jamie, the leasing manager. Overall, I’ve hated my experience thus far at the Wyatt. I’ve had maintenance requests since I’ve moved in that claimed to be completed in the computer but weren’t actually, they raise rent for renewals, they constantly do walk throughs in the apartments and don’t knock when they do them and every employee gives you a different answer on the same question. Please, don’t do it to yourself.
So disappointed. Everything was fine for two years but at the end the management was so dishonest. I’m still wait for the book keeper to call me back (5 months) and tell me why I got charge for keys and parking permit that I returned.
If I could give less than 1 star I would. DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. I cannot stress it enough. There are so many more apartment complexes with similar rates for WAY better living experience. There are not even close to enough words for me to share how miserable my experience at this apartment complex was. They suck you in with a great tour and accessibility during the application and move in process. After that, plan to be completely hung out to dry on your own because they help you with nothing after that. For the last two years I lived there I had no working washer or dryer. I asked 90 times for them to replace it and they simply said it wasnt a priority for them. My heat and AC were broken multiple times, no help from them whatsoever. Garbage disposal broken, not fixed for months. Dish washer didnt work the entire time I lived there. Complete lack of care for the residents. Upon move out (after living there for 4 years) I was charged $700 in damages because I lived there the longest. I was charged for damages made to the patio, living room, and kitchen. All of which were noted during inspection when the prior roommates moved out. Overall, worst experience of my life. Do not sign a lease here. It will be the beginning of the end.
The worst experience ever. The workers are bad, the maintenance workers break into your Apartment at any time, you will pay a lot of money without any reason for them. DONT CHOOSE THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX
Listen. I had no problems living here throughout the school year and didnt have as much crazy experiences as some people have posted. But I was charged after move out $700 DOLLARS for things that were in the same condition when I moved in, for keys I turned in and was charged over 500 dollars to PAINT MY ROOM. I recommend if you live here or plan to live here, take pictures of everything, document EVERYTHING. My friends place had a needle in her dresser that still had heroine in it. Just absolutely appalled. If you have more questions, please feel free to contact me via facebook.
Don’t live here. My window is broken making my room super cold. Been telling maintenance and staff about this issue for weeks now. Water heater needs to be replace leaving an oder in the apartment. Faucet is leaking. Rent is high. They don’t care about the residents at all. The only thing they care about is making sure you paid the rent.
This is the worst most dishonest apartment complex I have ever come across. The apartments are dirty and the maintenance staff does not bother to fix anything in a timely manner. They do not care about providing a good customer service to the people living there and care only about the money. Even more they try to charge you for anything and every thing at move out. Save your money and move some where else this place is poorly managed and run by greedy uncaring people that lack basic levels of professionalism that would be expected at any reputable complex.
The Wyatt has been a great place to live and I do believe it lives up to its value. The change in management has been a game changer for this complex and I feel it will only go up from here. They are caring for the residence by improving living conditions and offering more perks to living here. I say for the cost it lives up to its value!
Worst complex ever. Maintenance never comes. Apartments are dirty when you move in and we got a premium. They said that they were offering help to people that lost their jobs due to the virus and then said they would continue to charge late fees. Giant potholes in the parking lot. They only want your money and don’t care about the residents. DONT RESIGN YOUR LEASE OR DONT SIGN A LEASE!
I started living at the Wyatt this past fall and I have had such a good experience! The staff has always been very friendly towards me, if you treat them with respect that is what you get in return. The shuttle to WMU is a huge plus for me and I have never had an issue with its reliability. Maintenance has always been very prompt with fixing our issues and they are also very polite. It has been my experience that situations are handled to the best of the staffs ability and I would definitely recommend living here.
The apartments are nice and spacious! The location is perfect for people who don’t want to be too close to campus but still close enough to enjoy everything. Amenities are nice and the office staff are always pleasant and friendly!!
Management was too focused on ensuring the lawn was nice and the clubhouse was renovated, but the parking lot was torn up with massive pot holes and littered with abandoned cars.Maintenance was incapable of installing a washer unit correctly and it dumped water all over the floor the first time it ran. It took calling the fire marshal to get a fire alarm for the common areas, and even then they didnt even put one in until a month before we moved out.Trumped up damage charges to replace everything that was already torn up, including the couch that was damaged when we moved in.
I co-signed a lease for my daughter and roommate. The Wyatt allowed them to move into an apartment that the washer-dryer unit was not working, the hot-water heater only allowed for eight minutes of hot water, dishwashing unit does not work, lights were flickering or not working properly, toilet components were not working properly, and flooring was damaged from previous resident. All these issues were promised to be corrected within two weeks of move-in. The move-in date was August 24. Only items fixed have been toilet, a flickering light, and water-heater.After two months, my daughter and roommate established an escrow account, provided the Wyatt with a printout of the requests sent on their account page, along with my visit last week to request that the issues be rectified, and a letter clearly stating that an escrow account has been established as the intent to pay rent exists, but promises and the lease are not being honored on the Wyatts end.Future tenants and parents - I suggest one seeks other options as what we, as consumers, expect to be automatic with our commitment to a lease for our students.
The apartments THAT ARE RENOVATED are very nice and the landscaping always clean however they do not work with their residents after the first week and a half they want their rent or they send you their lawyers and you have to pay $150 court fee. And after 3 days into the new month they charge a $35 late fee. Their management is TERRIBLE and maintnence is just as horrible, the hot water is constantly going out even if you havent ran it for long as well as the heating unit in my bedroom barely work, my room is freezing while the rest of the apartment is warm. Given all the things the residents have to go through i would NOT recommend to live here. Go to the Paddock or 58 West if youre looking for affordable housing.
I would give this place -1 if I could! PLEASE DO NOT SIGN WITH THE WYATT. The management team is horrible! They will tell you anything to get you to sign the lease. My friend Cheri Anderson live here and it’s been hell. They will move people you don’t know into your apparent and force you to put the electric bill in your name! If you don’t they will charge all the tenant in the apartment $50 each! Also, you don’t have the option to pay to get out of your lease. When my friend first moved into the apartment the electricity would go out as she was cooking and she had to go to the back of the building to switch the fuel. The management lack communication and is horrible at resolving problems.

Parents I strongly caution you to let your college aged children move into these apartments, with the experience me and my child had here, it would not be beneficial to their becoming an adult or education, management work within the grey areas of the lease that you or children sign, no person or parent wants to go through what weve been through. Management never helped and wouldnt give me corporates phone number. Youve been warned.
Quantity over quality. A horrible experience. They want to move you into a wet, dirty infested unit with clogged and or leaking pipes, broken appliances, low capacity/no hot water (16 years old busted water heater).Maintenance requests over 6 months old unresolved. Very neglected common areas and apartments. I find students are rare here due to the free for all move in specials. Old, young, boozer, meth head, human trafficking whatever. High crime, loud, and trashed.Owners, Management and maintenance staff are either too incompetent, too understaffed or too careless to address serious concerns.
I moved in to an apartment that was in the same condition as it was when the last person moved out. They didnt bother cleaning up, stuff was broken and missing and to make matters worse, they didnt bother fixing any of it even after telling them about it. I am afraid they will try and charge me for all of it and claim Im the one who broke things. They only care about money and good service Is irrelevant. They make sure the office looks really great, but the houses are not appealing. Id highly advise on NOT moving here. Its not worth the money.
I have lived hear for almost a month now and everything that was broken on move in day is still broken, i have contacted the office multiple times and nothing has been done to fix the problems that i have brought to there attention. I tried being nice and understanding but i have lost patience. These people do not seem to care about there tenants they only care about the money that you give them. If possible i would give them zero stars but i cannot. DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! IT IS NOT WORTH IT!!! Terrible service...
I love The Wyatt apartments! I have a one bedroom and it’s the perfect size! Great location and I love that there’s a bus going to and from campus!
Totally baited an switched. When a friend and I were looking to become roommates we saw this beautiful three bedroom that was suppose to be renovated and available in May. We confirmed the move in date was May. May approaches and it’s been about a month and a half to two months since we’ve talked with them. We reach out (not the other way around) and low and behold they lost our paperwork and as a result gave away the apartment we were promised. We compromise into moving into a four bedroom, going under the (wrongful) impression that we’d be the first ones into the four bedroom. Move in day comes and there are two people already in the apartment along with it not being at all renovated. I got into contact with Adia and she wasn’t helpful in the slightest and kept trying to blame the whole situation on us when it wasn’t our fault. Finally had to get into touch with her supervisor Suzanne and so far no response. Not to mention I broke my back and haven’t been able to be at my apartment and they had started renovations and were going to charge me because I can’t be at my apartment to clear off counter space for contractors that I didn’t even know were coming because they slipped a note under the door, even though email is my preferred contact. Also there is no way that I can get out of this lease even though I was 100% baited and switched.I will say the amenities are the only good thing about this place. But if someone in the office wants to be proactive for a change, please someone help me so that I can update and change the review.
The fact that they can’t even fix a bunch of broken equipment in the gym that not only I but my roommates also called about months ago just shows the lack of caring from management and maintenance team. I would suggest never living here unless you want nothing fixed and management being a joke.
Really bothered with the fact that they come into your apartments without warning, absolutely no way that could be legal without notice. I come back to a few things offset and I know it could have been no one else considering I have a unit to myself. No way Id ever feel at peace knowing theyre around my belongings while I am gone. I have no respect for a place that disregards your privacy, as well as disrespects it as well.
This is by far the worst place I have ever lived in my entire life. If you’re thinking about moving here, DON’T even think about it. The lock on my front door of my townhouse has been broken since move in day and my roommates and I have called multiple times for somebody to come out and fix it. That was in August when we first discovered it and here it is January and no one has still came out and fixed it. There was also a busted window upon our arrival that we also requested to get fixed and do you think anybody came out and fixed that either? NOPE! The carpet was filthy upon arrival and it took them months to finally come and clean it. My closet, dresser, and mirror frame are all broken and I have been calling them for months to come and fix it and no one has still came out. I was promised a mailbox key upon move in too and I still have not gotten that as well! Also the heating in my room is extremely too hot while the rest of the house is extremely cold. The heat could be on 60° but it feels like 90°. I have an autoimmune disease so I should not even be in these conditions at all. Every night my nose bleeds, coughing up blood, having night sweats, gaining severe rashes on my arms, and having to go to the hospital due to these conditions. When I expressed my feelings to The Wyatt they told me that I could transfer units but there was a $250 fee. Why should I have to pay extra when the heating in the unit is clearly off and I literally have no control over it. So if you’re considering moving to The Wyatt, please spare yourself the misery and don’t do it. I promise you it will be the best decision you will ever make!
This place is going downhill if you do consider living here be careful.
There were several issues: the hot tub wasnt hot, my toilet was going off every 5 minutes for no reason, dishwasher and appliances arent good, expect to see the police on the premises several times especially during football season, the parking lots have so many blind spots and is poorly set up, and is extremely OVERPRICED. For example, 58 West apartments are 500 times nicer, and theyre cheaper with a lot better security with only one way in and one way out.
Very great management, my first apartment by myself and they have been taking great care of me! Maintenance are always on time and The Wyatt Management are very involved with the community, which makes living here more comfortable!
New management is great! Maintenance is great! Room size in the 4 bedroom has been awesome and the furniture looks good.
By far the best place I have ever lived! I am a Community Assistant here at the Wyatt, and I have not seen my family in months because I dont want to leave! We have a truly amazing staff! Perhaps of the most incredible members of our staff is our Maintenance Supervisor Robbie. Robbie is as powerful as an ox. I once saw him carry a refrigerator up 3 flights of stairs all by himself! Robbie was on his own for a while but now he has a brilliant apprentice. Aaron has only been here for a few weeks but I have no doubt that he is on track to become one of the greatest members of our maintenance team in history! Our bookkeeper James always does a great job keeping us informed and makes sure to help us avoid unnecessary fines! Our Leasing Manager/Assistant General Manager Adia placed me with roommates who have become 2 of my best friends! Our Resident Director Kyle is great as well! He once helped me for 3 hours straight to be sure that I had a schedule that would give me the best opportunity to succeed! Our Community Assistants Tiffani, Jaime, Tyson, Christa and Jordan do a wonderful job of helping our residents as well! We all love our jobs and enjoy serving our residents, however, we are merely sheep and would be nothing without our shepherd. Our General Manager Suzi does a spectacular job overseeing our whole operation. She is one of the most dedicated people I have ever had the pleasure of working for. Sometimes I wonder if she even sleeps! There was one time that Suzi risked her life and drove to work during one of the worst blizzards in the history of Michigan just to make sure she could manage our day-to-day operations. I love the Wyatt and plan on living here for the rest of my life! 5 out of 5! Glorious 5 out of 5!!
When I moved in the place was filthy, the washer was broken among many other issues. Ive put in countless requests in person, over the phone and online to have things fixed and nothing has been done about it. there is garbage piles all over the parking lot and the window on the outside of our building is fixed with black tape. DO NOT LIVE HERE
🐐
My review is based purely on my interaction with Deon in the marketing office. My husband and I along with our WMU student dropped by the office without an appointment to view the model as well as the other amenities. Deon was more than happy to show us around and answer all of our questions. My son and his two roommates (friends from high school) are moving in August 2018. I must admit that reading all of the reviews on this place has go me quite a bit on edge. I pray that these guys dont experience some of the horrors that past residents have experienced. I totally understand how difficult it can be to try to make everyone happy at a property of this size. Ive been in property management for over 15 years and my husband was in property maintenance for the same period. This property is now under new management, so we are expecting great things from then new management team and look forward to reading more positive reviews.
Worst apartment complex in Kalamazoo!4 months after moving in, they placed 2 new roommates in our apartment; the most disrespectful, rude and dirty roommates possible and called it roommate matching. One of which on her first night broke into the apartment, breaking the door rather than calling security. nice start! When the manager was confronted about this, her response was well, it is her apartment too so it isnt a problem. Excuse me, What? When I was looking to release my apartment due to the trouble they had caused, they got wind and wanted to help, stating that they had a girl that wanted my room and asked for me to turn my keys in asap. Of course, I jumped on it, given that I had stopped staying there due to threats from the roommates already. This person signed a lease to take over mine, yet was able to back out and leave me responsible for a place I was no longer living in nor had possession to. This happened not once, but 3 times! In the mean time, I was not allowed to find my own person to lease it due to the signing of a lease already by someone they had found to move in.In the end, I was left owing the remainder 3 months rent due to none of the people actually moving into my room even though they had ALL signed a lease to do so.One month after the end of the lease, I received a letter from the Centre stating that I owe $90 for consumers for the past two months! Mind you, I had not had possession of the apartment for the past 3! When I called to ask about it, they said there is nothing they can do to change it because I last had my name on a lease...which given the most recent 3 people to sign one but not move in, technically that is false. This has without a doubt been the most awful, unsatisfying place I have lived in Kalamazoo. Not to mention, the high electric bills, no insulation, cheap appliances and disgusting apartments. If you want to deal with this along with the disrespect, random roommates, lies and deceiving ways...this is the place for you!
DO NOT MOVE HEREThe management just want to take you for all the money they can. I moved in here a week early and had to take the apartment as is without them letting me view it because I had nowhere to move since my current lease had ended. The place was an absolute disaster. I asked them if they could work with me a little and they basically said, you signed the lease youre on your own. There were holes in the walls, stains everywhere, and stenches coming from everywhere. The oven had filled with oil in the bottom pan where your supposed to store pans somehow so the whole place reeked of grease for the first 2 weeks. The furniture they gave me since I signed for an already furnished one was in such poor condition it was disgusting. The girl that lived there before me had a cat and it destroyed all the furniture. I asked them if they could replace that and the woman in charge of everything basically laughed at me and said they werent replacing anything. The pictures really dont do it justice just how gross this place was when I moved in. Ive never felt such a feeling of utter regret in my life than when I opened that front door and saw what is in that first picture. The lady running everything was completely unprofessional, and also they tried overcharging me at least 4 times, had I set up the auto-pay function Id have been charged 800$ one time because their system made a mistake. Every single time Id have to go into the main office and argue with them saying I already paid you that, Im not paying you guys that again BE WARNED IF YOU SET UP THE AUTOPAY!! Im so glad I never bothered with it. Also Ive never experienced an apartment complex that has quarterly inspections where 4 people come parading through your apartment anywhere from 8am until 5pm on any given day. They literally only came twice in the 12 months I was there and the 2 dates werent 6 months apart so it could be any day they decide. Its super weird, maybe its because they deal with alot of tenants who are big problems because ill be honest the neighbors here werent exactly students. Several nights I would come home from work around midnight to the parking lot swamped with random cars, tons of random people, and cop cars swarming. Im pretty sure I left my car unlocked twice by accident and both times all my change was stolen and nothing else, so always double check you lock everything here. Main point being this place sucks DONT LIVE HERE unless you have nowhere else to go. The only reason I signed here in the first place was I my lease was up in 2 weeks so I had very little time to find somewhere and was panicking. Also I finally got my deposit and big surprise they charged me for all the damage the previous tenant was responsible for. This plave sucks dont live here unless you like being scammed.
Just finished my year lease at the Wyatt. Overall, my time there wasnt awful, however I did have an abundance of issues while living there. There were a pretty unnerving amount of break ins during my lease, both home and auto. Pool was filled with green algae at times, rent is high, energy bills were higher than anywhere else I have lived, cable was relatively limited, internet was incredibly slow and would cut out at random times for a day or so. The maintenance workers are nice, however we had to put in three separate request to fix the same issue on our washer since it broke almost immediately after move in. Carpet and had burn holes and stains every where and smelled awful, but that shouldnt be an issue since the renovations installed different flooring.Renovations were extremely inconvenient, workers let in a massive amount of bugs while leaving the door open, not to mention major renovations were done while we were still trying to live in the apartment.
RED FLAG:When you see all the maintenance staff and the general manager quit in a month, garbage everywhere, and most things broken or falling apart, you dont renew a lease. Nebulous business practices to fool you into a bad idea. Careless, even. This company does not properly take care of this ran down facility and it shows. They cannot keep tenants or employees long term. Revolving door of disgust. Most of the 5 star reviews listed are fake. No likes likely means it was a forced review that no one in their right mind agrees with.
Ive lived here for almost 3 years now and have had a great time living here. Any problems I ever had were resolved and the staff were always very nice to me and my roommates.
If I could rate 0 stars I would when I lived here it was horrible cars getting windows busted out and maintenance way too busy to come help. Water would shut off heat would not work! I had mold in my bath tub from the day I moved in asking maintenance to do something about it which they acted like it was normal. Then 4 months after I move out they want to send me a damage fee bill saying I have 2 days to pay or else it will go to the collector. I didn’t damage anything in that apartment and they are rude over the phone they hang up and interrupt people. But it’s okay just don’t move here trust me
Other than poor insulation, high electric bills, and a distance from campus, I thought this place was great. Very fair pricing for rooms, clean inside and pet friendly. Will be renewing for next year.
After i move in . my apartment was so broken. Sink leaking, shaking frame and broken windows ! thats was broken apartment. and the maintance is so slow. im waiting for repair for a month. still in processing !!!!!!
Dont waste your money, Im stuck paying $400 a month for a disgusting apartment, there were so many problems in the first few months, first we didnt have any hot water for 2 days (it goes out at least twice a month), thats how long matanice took to actually make it to the apartment, then the washer broke, they fixed it 3 times, we didnt have a washer or dryer for 2 almost 3 months and after complaining for 2 months they finally decided to replace it, then we didnt have any heat, and most recently one of the pipes broke and flooded the entire apartment. And thats only the major issues, there have been a lot of other issues the short version is that this apartment isnt suited for 4 separate people doing there own thing. To be honest 1 star is to good for this place, Ive been here for 9 mo and Im getting tf out of here the second my lease is up
My opinion of this place is extremely negative as I lived at the Arboretum 2015-2016 with almost no problems. Then I moved here.1.) Before you even think about renewing or signing a lease here be aware of how far from campus you are (adding in West Main traffic/poor weather).2.) Our laundry machine broke early in September. We put in requests to management at least 4 times and had to suffer 2 months doing laundry at the Laundromat or dorms. 2 months! Management even failed to reimburse me for the money spent at the Laundromat after they promised to give us all gift cards the 3rd time we complained. Then the dishwasher breaks and once again 2 weeks go by of water leaking on the floor before the problem was fixed.3.) Every time you talk to management about a problem its like they dont care and like no one ever knows about the situation. Its almost as if they dont communicate problems to their other employees. For example: When the neighbors house was broken into and had all their electronics stolen and our back door had crow bar marks on it (door was almost off the hinges). They failed to notify anyone in the complex that a break-ins occurred when the police report was filed 4 days prior to us finding out. Then they send maintenance to fix our broken door and he ends up putting a new dead bolt on without actually replacing the whole door (which was splintered and could barely open).4.) Students obviously get drunk which results in there being broken glass almost every week around the parking lots and trash everywhere. Im still yet to see someone cleaning up the place or a security guard patrolling around at night5.) Even though my place at the Arbs was significantly bigger than here, somehow the heating bill always managed to be way higher. Also I paid $360 at the Arbs and $424 for room B.6.) The only positive thing I can say is that they dont tow and you can pretty much park anywhereOverall: There much better options than here. Avoid at all costs!
This is the WORST place I have ever lived. I would not tell anyone to live here ever. The place they tour is nice but not like what they put you in. Cable sucks, wifi sucks, consumer bill is crazy, break ins all the time, crappy furniture. We had our ceiling leak and they didnt care. Pool was never useable at all. Communication there is also awful, they dont communicate with each other and will tell you one thing and then your roommates something else. We moved in to an awful apartment with mold, and they were rude about the entire thing ( look at the pictures posted that was my apartment!). We were without hot water for almost three days. The maintenance guys are really nice and try to do the best they can with what they have. Some of the employees are very nice too, Ricky when he was in charge was very respectful and understanding. The new person in charge Suzie is awful!! Very rude, and unprofessional! I honestly dont know how she got the job, she shouldnt be in customer service at all. Honestly there are way better places and a lot cheaper. It doesnt deserve any stars, but you cant post if you dont give any.ALSO, the 5 stars are current or past employees, this place is a joke.
I do not recommend living here. I thought when I signed here last year that I would have a great experience but I was totally wrong. Two days before we moved in our water heater leaked everywhere and damaged the floor, ceiling, and closet. It took them 2 MONTHS to even begin painting and repairing the ceiling, and took them almost a week to come scrape all of the black mold out of the closet after we kept calling. They reimbursed us $40 off our rent to cover the extra electric for the 11 dryers and 2 dehumidifiers they had to install. But that $40 barely covered any of the extra electricity used by those, and all four of us each paid at least $80 more for the bill. Plus having to live in a 100 degree hotbox from all of the heat that was given off by the heaters. The furniture they give you is total crap. I had guests over and every table chair they sat in broke on them, so not only was it embarrassing for me, but all of us will have to pay for chairs we barely sat in.The apartments are dirty upon move in and we had to clean a lot of things before we could actually be comfortable here. Two other people have told me that they had their house broken into this year already so now we are on edge everyday.I could keep going for hours about the problems here, but overall I dont recommend anybody move in here. The office staff is nice and I dont think they know how bad things really are for the tenants.@The Centre: You can leave your generic comment about calling this number to talk about our review but if you actually want to make things right you can contact me and my roommates. (Which isnt going to happen)
First of all, I wish I could give them zero stars.Me and my friends signed a lease for a three bedroom apartment on April, and the contract was for a renovated apartment. On July 23, we got an email from Adia that they dont have a renovated apartment for us! she said that we either get a four bedroom, with another roommate, or we get a non-renovated apartment, neither way is fair for us. Then we agreed to have a non-renovated apartment. Again, they said they dont have one!!Finally, they said they have a renovated apartment. we moved in yesterday, and it was a total disappointment. I attached photos of the carpet in my room. it was so dirty, and it has a lot of animal stool. I talked to them today to replace it, and they said they are going to replace it in two weeks. How am I going to unpack, and live there for two weeks??This is so disrespectful, all they care about is money over quality.I dont recommend any one to live here. it is a disaster!! I regret signing a lease here!!
I just love the life in the Wyatt, especially the events at clubhouse. Good place to live.
I love the building, car port, bus route to WMU, and he short distance from campus.I hate that our flat is infested with silverfish (look them up), and I also am very upset that the locks on the main locks with out a notice. The key was free but because they replaced them with out me knowing I was late to an important meeting. The professionalism with the inconsiderate female management is terrible.
DO NOT SIGN WITH THE WYATT!!! I wish I would of read these reviews before signing my lease. I an not looking forward to moving into my apartment. The reason I was moving to the Wyatt is because they were advertising renovating units. Unfortunately, I am stuck with a standard unit because I have a male roommate I requested to live with. There was little to none communication with the management team. I’m so upset I signed a lease with this apartment complex. The women who work in the leasing office is very rude and unprofessional as well.
HORRIBLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! I must say this is the WORST apartments Ive been in EVER! The prices are too high, management and staff have very poor service. Theirs no benefits in resigning your lease, your rent actually goes up once renewing. Maintenance and Security have no since of urgency. I honestly cant not wait to move out, Im even breaking my lease to leave sooner. Please Please DO NOT move into the centre. I never do reviews but I took the time out today to do this review
Went to move into my apartment yesterday for fall semester. The room was so trashed when we got there that we decided to terminate our lease on the spot. We went back a few hours after picking up the keys for some of my roommates furniture, and they were frantically trying to replace the carpets even know they had an 18 day turnover to complete this in the first place. Dont sign at the Wyatt unless you want to be disappointed.
If I could give zero stars I would. Before signing a lease I was made false promises, things were broken or covered in paint when I moved in, maintenance is a joke and can’t fix anything. I will never live here again and will make sure to let everyone know not to live in this horrible apartment complex.
They just recently did renovations and I’ve literally had to call them everyday since Monday about something leaking or not being put together correctly. Not once has any one expressed empathy or even sent an email apologizing for these conditions. But they’ll expect rent to be due on the first!? Nah Fam. If you were thinking about moving here... DONT!! You’ll waste your time and your money.
They lied to me, duped me and then when I confronted them they didnt even apologize. Im locked into a 12 month lease in an apartment I was forced into because they messed up. But other than that its great!
I currently live at The Centre, I am an adult graduate student at WMU. When I initially called and secured a lease I was told that I would be placed in a 3 bedroom apartment that currently only had one other roommate in it at the time. Upon arrival I was placed in an apartment with two other roommates. The point here is that they lied to me from the beginning and I feel they continue to lie to me. The carpet is stained all over, the bathroom was disgusting and when I was talking with one of my roommates she confirmed that I was told a lie about the unit being cleaned prior to me moving in.I feel The Centre has dropped the ball on several occasions. First, they should be screening their renters better to properly place new renters in an apartment with others that are alike. There is a constant smell of marijuana in the building. As another person stated earlier, there is no follow thru on complaints and no one seems to care that all these illegal things are happening at this apartment complex. The rent seemed to be low but then after considering that my roommates may be paying what I pay, they a making a killing in money here on rent. The grounds are dirty with trash, broken glass and empty food containers laying around the parking lots.As a parent I would not feel good about any of my kids living here. Look on campus or elsewhere!
READ YOUR CONTRACT - do not listen to a word they say. read your contract for your self. Very short staffed Maintenance. Document everything to avoid any conflicts. And if needed for any legal issues. The place its self is nice however the business part is handled extremely unprofessional and out of date. They only except payment to check or money order. No cash no card. Think twice before you sign!
Great place, highly recommend, especially because I can win money for spring break
Let us start with the pros and cons.Pros-noneCons- high criminal activity with break ins, Electricity bills way too high, internet goes out at least twice a week, many things are broken in apartments and gym, send as many maintenance requests as you want they will never look at them, spammed multiple texts and emails a day to renew your lease, incompentant children working in the front office who are rude and make false promises, good luck voicing concerns to management because ultimately any problems you have is your fault not theirs,If I could give one piece of advice for anyone thinking of moving here don’t. This has been the worst living experience for me and I hope no one else has to go through this.P.S. had to use a different name because they are known to harass anyone who makes a complaint towards them.
I hated living here so much I moved out early and drove an hour to school and back. They lost my roommates lease and so when we were ready to move in, she wasnt on there and then when we called the guy laughed about it. Our apartment looked nothing like the tour. Our tile was stained yellow. My washer and dryer flooded my whole apartment and all they did was put in a de humidifier and didnt reimburse us for the extra consumers which was already crazy expensive. At the end of the year, I had so many charges on my account for things I didnt even do. I turned in my key and signed for it and I still got charged 100$ for my keys not being turned in. This place is complete garbage and I do not recommend to anyone.
This is the worst apartment complex to move in. A day before I was supposed to move in they called and said I couldnt because I didnt have a guarantor. I was supposed to move in August 28 they called me the 27 and told me this and I signed my lease in June. After I move in I begin to have an issue with bed bugs never had them, seen them or knew what they look like before this incident I had to google it because I was under the impression that they were just mosquito bites. After I let them know a young lady in the office whos name is Jessica laughed in my face and the manager said it was nothing they could do till the next day because management had the day off and that they wouldnt be able to put me up in a room for the night and I would just have to wait and wash my clothes.
The prices are too high, service and management is poor, maintenance is slow, the apartments aren’t cleaned throughly upon move in, and lots of bugs. I have to give it a 1 star in order to post this but I wouldn’t even give it that. Overall highly disappointed.
This apartment complex take advantage of college students! Do not sign with them!! Parents do not let your children sign with this apartment complex.
The Wyatt is a horrible student housing complex, but there is potential. The staff are inexperienced, uneducated, and rude beyond words. They lack proper organization and management and it shows. One of my roommates had paid to move in early, and was placed in a townhouse that had mold in the dishwasher, cigarette burns on the table and gum on the sofa and floors amongst many other things (in our lease, it is stated that each complex is professionally cleaned before move-in, there are pictures attached of the complex they placed us in). Initially, the office staff told her there was nothing that they could do - absolutely unacceptable and creating a bad reputation from the beginning. After receiving several phone calls, they relocated our apartment - which created a hassle to switch over consumers energy and renters insurance. The pool and hot tub were usually dirty and there was algae growing which resulted in the facility being closed. The cable service provided for free, is absolutely terrible and is extremely difficult to set up, if you are successful in receiving a working cable box. The printing center/computer lab has 5 computers, one of which is connected to the printer, which doesnt work 90% of the time. The internet on the computers available for use have poor internet connection. The printers are not connected properly and are usually running low on ink or toner or are completely out. The overall conditions of the apartments are poor - dated, and stained carpet, poor painting and repair jobs and loose door handles and railings. The appliances are very inefficient and result in extremely high, ridiculous energy bills. If something within the apartment isnt working properly, sinks and bath tubs not draining properly, garbage disposal or A/C, good luck getting it addressed and fixed. At the moment, the dumpster is over-flowing and looks unappealing - there are several garbage bags on the ground near the dumpster. Online, the apartments look extremely appealing and clean, as the apartment you tour does, and the amenities are appealing to college students, but it is not worth it at all. The included amenities do not work, and the rent is exceptionally high and the consumers energy bill is outrageous. I would not recommend living here under any circumstances.
