My boyfriend and I lived at Pinewood Glen for 3 years and had a wonderful experience. We really enjoyed how much space we had in just a 1 BR apartment, and the property was always well-kept and quiet. The arboretum behind the complex was awesome for mid-day breaks from work and we loved seeing deer almost once a week (even a fox every once in a while)!.The staff were always so friendly and wonderful - they responded to every need we had quickly, including when our dishwasher stopped cleaning well or when our heat stopped because of a random wasp nest. It was nice to see familiar kind faces all around. We loved our space, and sad we had to move away - we stayed for 3 years for a reason! Rent was increased every year at a very reasonable rate, and we can see direct impact of our rent in the property itself. We would have loved to stay in an updated unit if we remained in the Kalamazoo area, but we really got use out of our large kitchen and bedroom with MASSIVE closets (we really miss those closets now.. lol).It is close to everything you could need on West Main or Drake, and it was only a 15-20 minute commute to Mattawan for my job. We highly recommend Pinewood Glen for anyone who is looking for a quiet, clean, and affordable place to live. It definitely feels like a COMMUNITY and not just a complex.
This place is an absolute joke. Management lost payment twice despite video records of me delivering the payment. Management said they didn’t care about the video and they didn’t care they lost the money I still needed to pay them twice. Appliances didn’t work, we didn’t even get a number on the door I had to put one on myself. Despite these issues being brought to managements attention they were never corrected. Parking was always an issue being that there is not enough parking spaces. Rent prices continued to go up even though nothing has changed besides maintenance getting a new truck. I would not recommend living here. Shady management.
If I could gave them less than one I will, we had problem with our Fridge for more than 4 months and we called them thousand times but they do nothing!!!!Since Yesterday we had water coming out from the floor and I tried to reach them but no one even answered
There are certain units that I am sure are great here. Units that face away from street and towards the small nature area behind the property. But most of the units do not.The complex, as a whole, is noisy. Cars are broken into on a monthly basis. The floors creak, so you better get a unit on the third floor. The pool was down for maintenance half of the days in summer. The management, not the office staff, the people who make the decisions, are inconsiderate and totally unaware. For example, in the middle of the pandemic, when the schools were closed and people were working from home, the management decided it was a good time to do a two week long tree trimming project on the property. For 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, for 2 weeks they ran chainsaws and wood chippers outside my apartment window. They started before 8am on most of the days. The residents were given 1 day of notice that this would happen and the notice was so that we could move our cars out of the car ports before they began. Absolutely thoughtless.
I lived at PWG for 5 years through two different site managers. In general they were both good although sometimes communication stalled and things were not passed on to maintenance promptly with the current staff. And I was never sure how experienced maintenance was since they seemed to need a long time to fix things. I had repeated issues with my furnace/AC. The property was pretty well maintained except for snow and trash removal. I had to dig myself out from the where the plow piled up snow behind the cars more than once. The dumpsters were not emptied enough. My unit had upgraded appliances but the fixtures were really old as was the carpet. They did offer to replace that but what a hassle. The hard water made it difficult to keep the bathrooms clean. Lots of mineral buildup. I was on the 3rd floor which was super hot in summer and cold in winter. Large utility bills to heat and cool it. That would be different if you were on a lower floor. I had a corner 2 BR with a view of the small lake and woods. It was lovely...peaceful, natural, some wildlife. I really miss that where I am now. My building was fairly quiet as it was at the end of a row on the SE side. Other buildings were noisier with kids and small dogs. There was the issue with smoke getting into the common hallway and some noise through the wall from neighbors. These buildings were pretty solid though. There was a good mix of people in my building. One apartment seemed to have someone new every year, but otherwise it was quite stable. There was no crime in the complex to my knowledge although we were cautioned to lock our cars. Good location for errands and accessing the highway I would recommend it if you can afford to pay since the rent was probably a bit higher than the mean in Kzoo..
My husband and I lived at Pinewood Glen for 5 months in the summer/fall of 2020 on a short-term lease while construction of our new home was completed. I have lived in many apartments over the years and I would have to say that this was one of the worst but our choices were rather limited. The unit itself was filthy and no amount of scrubbing on our part made any impact – the dishwasher was completely unusable as it was filled with black mold and the shower in the master bedroom was one of the most disgusting things I have ever seen in my life, the other bathroom continually smelled like urine no matter how many times I mopped the floor and cleaned the toilet, it would be better for a day or two and then slowly return. The unit did have brand new carpet installed prior to our moving in. There is not adequate parking available near to the buildings; well, there might be if visitors parked in the designated visitor parking – when you sign your lease you have to give details of your vehicle to the office and display a parking permit in your window but this seems a completely pointless exercise in paperwork as it is not at all enforced, many times when I was not able to park near to my building, I would look at the other vehicles and many did not have parking permits. The office staff is kind enough but somewhat unmotivated, their solution to any issue is to place a kindly worded notice on the bulletin board of the building which people just ignore. Walls/floors are thin and you can hear every single step the people above you make, it sounds like a heard of elephants lives above you. Maintenance staff often entered my unit to see to issues without notice and never wore masks – other places that I have lived maintenance staff makes an appointment with the tenant for any work needing to be done. Overall, I would not recommend living here unless, like us, you really have no other choice.
I love it! They are so friendly and so good. The place really nice quite and good location the view building from out side is cool even the inside I like it
This place is amazing! Stopped by this wonderful community for work and never wanted to leave. It is tucked away in a beautiful park like setting. I toured an extremely large one bedroom with a den that has been completely renovated with stone counter tops and subway tile in the kitchen and bath.Once I walked through I knew my search was over. On top of everything the ladies in the office are very warm and welcoming making you feel like home. I cant wait until it gets warmer so I can spend time on the balcony and sun by the pool.
This is one of the most accommodating and helpful management groups I have ever dealt with and in a complex that is just as great. For the price the complex is a steal and it’s in a great location. Becky and Sandra go out of their way to make you feel welcome and taken care of. Complete 360 from any other place I have lived.
I loved living at Pinewood Glen. Judy and the rest of the office staff was simply amazing! They were caring and treated you as more than just a tenant...they cared enough to remember your name...you don’t see this very often. The area was quiet and well maintained! If I ever move back to the area, I won’t bother looking elsewhere.
Great place to live! Leasing Managers are very friendly and understand life happens and will work with you and your situation. Apartments have nice layouts and pretty views with the right apartment. Grounds are kept clean. Winter tends to be a little rough with snow removal but they get to it as soon as they can. Love the key/intercom entry, made me feel safe although the apartments are in a safe area. Convenient location close to everything you need and close to 131!
Where to start. From the beginning we felt Unwelcome here. We moved here because every other place was booked. We also did not want to be at a college complex because we didnt want to be around a loud obnoxious environment. We were at Pinewood Glen for not even a month and hated it. 24/7 we heard crying, screaming kids, and extremely loud running and pounding on the ceiling. We could not watch tv, eat dinner, or relax after work in silence. I guess quiet time is from 10am-10pm so if you want to do anything without hearing kids cry, scream, and pound 24/7 you CANT. Ohh and if you call and complain that they are pounding at 6:30 in the morning when you are trying to sleep, that doesnt count either. You also better have your pumpkins thrown away the day after Halloween or your getting an email. Although there is ample visitor parking, dont have a second vehicle there in visitor because that isnt allowed (I bought a new car and was trying to sell the other one, but it wasnt allowed there). They told me I cant have my motorcycle there in the winter unless I pay $30 a month for a car port. The neighbor however said she gives him his got free. Also mother gets fixed. Our toilet was leaking and they didnt fix it for almost 3 weeks because it isnt an urgent matter, since we have 2 bathrooms on our apartment. (However one bath you had to go through a bedroom to get too). Our sink is still leaking g after they have already tried to fix it once. Our washer only fills half full with water and we would have to dry our clothes 2 times to get them dry. They finally fixed our dryer after a year literately a year. We pay $830 a month so if something is broken it should be fixed. When we finally had enough and called to get out of the lease because we have put up with Way to much, we were pretty much told it is impossible. You have to stay the whole time and can not sublease. The only way you can get out of it is if you buy a house or get a job 50 miles away and you still have to pay TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS! If you feel like you are being treated unfairly too bad you can only talk yo Judy, not the owner or anyone else. We asked Judy and that was her response we have to deal with her. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. I would rather live in college housing if Im going to be in an obnoxious environment. At least every other place I have lived they fix what needs to be fixed and its less expensive. I could also get out of the lease for around $500 or get a sublease in another apartment if I dont enjoy it there and wouldnt have to deal with someone like Judy. So if you are looking for nicer apartments (like we thought we were) do NOT COME TO PINEWOOD!
The apartments themselves are nice, but the insulation is terrible. Drafty in the winter, hot in the summer...huge electric and gas bill, so factor that into your price. Being that the apartments have shared hallways, if people smoke cigarettes or marijuana you smell it. There were times when I would leave my apartment and still smell smoke on my clothes, and we do not smoke.
I stayed here for a year and I am unhappy only because I had to move to different place due to some personal constraints. I wish to come back once everything settles. Look out for couple of beautiful ladies - Judy and Lee (maybe Lee is not here anymore, you might find Stracy)- they are amazing people! I do not have any word to explain how kind, helpful, lovely, honest they can be! My wife and I still miss Jydy and that place. Talking about the apartment, it was huge and well lit. Most importantly, it always felt like our HOME. They would plow the parking lot immediately after a snowfall. The shaded parking was worth every penny. The area is very safe and convenient - you will find everything nearby only. Having any issue? Just call Judy and she will send in a maintenance guy within that day itself. Highly recommended.
Prices start out at 735/mo for a one bedroom. Plus $25 for water. $825 for a two bedroom. Plus water.
Dont expect your appliances to work. And if they tell you a month after moving in, in June, that theyll have the dryer fixed, dont expect that either. Oh yeah, and if they tell youll theyll replace the dryer the first week of December, dont expect that either. If you have no expectations, this is the place for you.
