I love living here! My apartment was spotless upon move in and they were able to get me in on the exact date I wanted to move in which was seriously such a huge help. Maintenance is so quick and efficient, the amenities are great too. And its very nice and quiet and feels very safe! Which is huge for me personally. Susan and Tess in the office are gems, they help with whatever I need.
If youre looking for a place to live where your maintenance requests will take forever to be fixed and youre okay not having AC for the hottest month of the year, Drakes pond would be an excellent choice.I have lived at Drakes Pond almost a year and a half now. This July my AC went out. It has been nearly a month now, and the issue is still not fixed. There are not a lot of options to help with airflow in the space, so opening the patio door or window and using a fan does very little to reduce the heat. For the 3 weeks in July that the AC was out it averaged 90 degrees in my apartment. Ive had to seek housing elsewhere for my dog and myself, because I can not in good conscience leave him in that apartment when it is so hot. This issue has been incredibly frustrating and quite the financial burden. They came to fix it once, 9 days after my original request in July . The AC worked for about 12 hours. I called the next day to report the problem and am still waiting, now, 17 days after the second request for someone to come fix it. I understand that they have to fix issues in the order the requests come in, but I am having trouble understanding why they couldnt reopen my original request because the problem was not fixed when they came the first time.Ive called the office a ton to ask about the status of the request and what could be done to speed things up. Ive been told a few times that they would try and track down a portable AC - which no one has been successful at. It seems like everytime I call I am given the standard we understand your frustration talk but theres nothing being done to fix the issue in a timely manner.
Great job working through Amazon delivery problems and great support for deliveries in general 😁
Drakes pond kalamazoo office are the best! Liam and suzan are amazing! They are always responsive on time and take there jobs seriously. They helped many times fixing and maintaining things in my appartment and they are always welcoming and listens to the tennants 😃
Stopped in for a tour and I was greeted by the sweetest ladies, and they offered donuts and coffee while we chatted!
I have absolutely loved living here! It is beautiful with great amenities such as an indoor and outdoor pool, tennis courts, and cute pond to take walks to. Nothing beats the kindness of the management and staff here. They make sure everything is taken care of and go above and beyond making this place feel like home and even a community with the events that the hold for everyone.
I live with two roommates at Drakes Pond and our experience has been phenomenal. Susan and Sarah in the office have always been so kind and its nice to feel recognized on a property this large. I would recommend this place as a home for anyone.
Friendly and understanding people - theyll do their best to accomodate your requests.Hard working maintenance staff!Kudos!Kush.
I love living here at Drake’s Pond! The staff in the office is so kind and helps with everything I need. Susan is awesome and makes me feel at home here! I definitely suggest moving here.
Best experience Ive ever had living in an apartment. Look forward to renewing my lease. The ladies in the office have always been nothing but professional and courteous attending any issue. Very prompt maintenance. Would definitely recommend living here!!
Went into Drakes Pond interested in renting an apartment but turned away by the management in the office. I didn’t catch her name but the blonde lady in there came off sarcastic and rude. She was very unprofessional and didn’t follow COVID guidelines! She took off her mask while talking to me while I do have a weak immune system! Hopefully in the future they will do better with there managing staff!
Drake’s Pond has been wonderful since we moved in! Maintenance is very kind at fixing any issues and the office staff is so lovely! I’m very glad I chose to live here rather than somewhere else!
Terrible maintenance! A/C does not work put in a maintenance request 4 weeks ago and they still have not come to fix it you pay premium prices for terrible services.
Great customer service! Would recommend!
I lived here for over 2 years and wouldnt EVER recommend this establishment to anyone. The staff is incredibly rude and extremely unhelpful/unresponsive. They havent followed through on their promised follow-ups one time - there is always an excuse - typically being that they are very busy. We moved out almost 4 months ago and are still dealing with charges on our account that we are not responsible for. Each time we reach out they are extremely rude and act as if they dont have enough time in the day to resolve this issue (but they also cant explain what is taking so long other than that they are busy). Their office staff all the way up to their management have provided the absolute worst customer service that I have ever experienced in my life. Drakes Pond used to be a place that I would recommend to anyone moving to the Kalamazoo area but since this experience, I can assure you with full confidence that you can find a better place to live that will cost you MUCH less stress and inconvenience.
Great place to live. Close to everything including downtown. Management and maintenance has been great with any and everything with speedy response times.
Nice apartments with a good location in Kalamazoo. Management has worked with us to set up a transfer and were much happier now. Looking forward to living here for another year. Major thanks to Liam the assistant property manager for helping us out!
So far everything seems solid. Decent apartments in a great area. Not too far from downtown or the highway. Plus, right next to a lot of restaurants and stores.Only giving 3/5 stars since Ive been here two months and still havent had my sliding door fixed. I noted it on my move in sheet and even filled out a maintenance request online and still have not heard a thing. Will edit my rating after it gets fixed.
It’s a nice quiet place to live. Recently we had our AC stop working, but maintenance has been very responsive and working hard to fix it!
We moved here from our three bedroom house in the country because we wanted to downsize and simplify our lives. Drakes Pond is a great fit. I can take my dog on long walks without having to leave the complex. People are friendly and often speak to me as I am out walking. The staff work hard to keep the areas clean and presentable. The office staff is friendly and helpful. Maintenance issues are addressed quickly and efficiently. It is a quiet complex. Our three bedroom apartment is roomy with lots of closets. The patio is much larger than some of the others we saw at other complexes. I have room for my flower pots and an area where I have bird feeders. At times it seems I see more critters here than I did at our home in the country. I enjoy watching and feeding the ducks at the pond. The pool and playground areas make it more fun for my grandchildren when they come to visit. The parking here is much better than we saw at some of the other complexes. We are enjoying our new home.
I enjoy staying out here. Although a few bumps for the most part it’s expected cause nothing is perfect. But management is great they actually stay on top of things and the maintenance guys are amazing. Anything I need they get it done and I’m such a tough person to make happy. I just resigned my lease for the 3rd time and make no plans on moving anytime soon. The location is great and the schools are too. And I like the fact it’s pretty much quiet and my kids are able to play outside and be kids!
Have lived at drakes pond for ten years. The staff have done a amazing job making sure the whole complex is taking care of. Josh is one of best parts of Drakes many times he has gone above and beyond to take care of any issue I might have in my unit I cant count how many times he has fixed problems before ahead of time. If you looking for quite place to live I would stop by drakes pond they will take care of you.
I would recommend looking into Parkway Flats which are located across the street from Drake’s Pond. They are brand new, have a great staff, and are actually pretty comparable in price to the run down Drake’s Pond. Monthly rent for similar apartment size is only a bit more and you definitely get what you pay for unlike at DP. Really seems like staff doesn’t care about making the community a positive place to live. They keep residents uninformed and let people not pick up after their pets + wreck the amenities and apartments without a care in the world. I’d recommend going literally anywhere else.
Ive never had any issues while living here, in fact the office staff have gone above and beyond to make sure my experience was a good one. Abbie and Burgundy are always very attentive if I have any issues that need to be addressed. The apartment was very clean on move in and the building Im in is very quiet. I highly recommend it here.
I really enjoy living at Drakes pond, its a great part of Kalamazoo. the parking is great for residents and guests! I have not had any issues with that. The apartment is looks great and maintenance responds to most request the following day. Its a nice quiet complex and the pool is great and the gym also is great to have access to.
My fiancé and I moved to Drakes Pond in September and have had nothing but a great experience here. Rent is on the expensive side, but you get a lot for your money. There are plenty of amenities (pools, hot tubs, gym, tennis court, etc.), the maintenance staff is friendly and quick to respond to any issues, and the whole team at the leasing office is just great (especially Madison!). Were currently living in a 3 bed 2 bath unit, and with so much room and gorgeous landscaping, this is definitely a place well be calling home for a while.
I have lived at Drakes Pond for over 4 years and would recommend this for anyone moving to the Kalamazoo area. The apartment complex is safe and the apartments are nice and affordable. There is a lot of stuff in the surrounding area as well. The management has changed in my time living here and currently one of the property managers Susan has went above and beyond in any issue that has arose and always did her best to try and fix the issue. She is good at listening and trying to find a good compromise to fix the problem. I would recommend reaching out to Susan and moving here for anyone interested.
We have been living at Drakes Pond for 6 months now and its been a great experience. We did our tour with Susan who took us to see 4 different units so we could find the perfect on, she was incredibly patient with us and made the process incredibly easy. We love having the indoor and the outdoor pools and the play areas throughout the property with little kids its super convenient to burn off energy by taking them outside but staying home. Maintenance is pretty on top of things, with the pandemic theyve had to prioritize a bit but they communicate and they follow up on service requests. Weve had minimal issues, all of which are normal wear and tear to be expected with renting. The community is quiet and very family friendly however there is a very diverse group of renters in the area from college kids to retirees. Plus, the community is super pet friendly with clean up stations.
Makes me sad to leave a negative review for Drake’s Pond because I had a mostly positive experience while living there for a year up until my move out. The apartments themselves are relatively fine but definitely overpriced for the outdated quality. You’re mostly paying for the amenities, so if that’s more your priority over the actual living space it would probably be fine. Also a quiet community but not the safest-multiple car break ins, assaults, and attempted robberies happened in my one year there. Leasing office didn’t address these issues at all.My main issues come from lack of communication with their leasing office. Never returned my emails regarding questions and concerns. Leasing office was randomly closed without notice the entire weekend of my move out date leaving me with no way of turning in my keys. They also charged me hundreds of dollars for “move out damages” that were all there prior to move in/things that I had addressed with management and told “not to worry about”. Be weary of the “non refundable security deposit” because it’s just an excuse for them to charge ridiculous fees for things that are no fault of your own. I would talk to a different person in the leasing office every time I called and get 0 consistency with the answers provided.Absolute nightmare of a move out process, especially for such a subpar experience to begin with.
Apparently the mobile app for paying rent didnt capture our funds and we were charged a bounce fee. In addition to that, the payment bounced on the day it was due and so we were charged an additional late fee. I printed time stamped records of the bank account statement dignifying that the account had funds to cover rent on the day it was due. Management ignored my attempt to reverse the charges and suggested making payments through Walmarts customer services. Was told that if the system doesnt capture the funds in my account then that is my responsibility to figure it out with my bank. Additionally, I was told that that the head manager of the complex has NEVER mediated this situation for anyone else in the past. That means that they are aware of the faults in their mobile app (Monarch Resident Portal) yet they never mention or care to fix it. If you do decide to live here just be aware that this could happen to you and I suggest setting up payments through Walmarts customer service desk.
I had a great experience with Liam in my search for a new home! He was very prompt and helpful when asking questions and returning emails. He got me exactly the home type I was looking for and made the process very easy and exciting! Thank you Liam!
Ive lived at Drakes Pond for over a year now and we have signed another lease for an additional year. I am very impressed with how sweet and attentive the office staff always are and I especially appreciate how quick the maintenance guys are at coming over to complete a job. My friends from school just moved in as well so im looking forward to more fun times by the big sparkling pool!
I genuinely love living here. Very quiet, the gym is amazing and they have 2 Pools! One indoor and one outdoor. If your looking for an apartment check them out for sure!!
Drakes Pond Apartments is a great place to live. Its close enough to WMUs campus but far enough out that you dont have to deal with a bunch of noise during the week. The office staff is super friendly and helpful, maintenance orders are completed quickly and well-done, and the complex overall is clean. They plan events for their residents and make it an inviting place to be. I just signed for my third year here and couldnt be happier with my decision.
Hands down my best experience with apartment living. Leasing agents were the most accommodating agents Ive had with over 5 housing agencies in my experience. They moved us in over night and have provided awesome service since. Special shoutout to Susan, our leasing agent.
Although no longer a resident, I had to stop by the property to pick up a package. The new management has definitely stepped up their game!! I was thrilled to see that the property was clean and tidy; never was when I lived there. Susan was extremely helpful locating my package that I accidentally sent to my old address. Thank you!
Drakes is a great place to stay. Its in a quiet part of town, but still close to campus and downtown. The property is well kept and clean. Definitely worth the visit if you need somewhere to stay. Madi is great in the front office. She helped us with our move from WA, very nice and helpful.
I had to move out quickly in a bad situation, and drakes pond was helpful in quickly getting me into a new safe home. My favorite leasing agent is Alexis, as she is always smiling and willing to go above and beyond for you. It is obvious she is a hard worker. I also love the events, and the amenities included at drakes pond. Thanks drakes pond for helping me out.
A few big issues to consider before deciding to live at Drakes Pond :1. Facilities issues - We have lived in the complex for over a year and the road remains in terrible condition. They spend bare minimum to fill the potholes which might last a week before they are open again and worse than before. It gets so bad at times that there are certain roads you can’t drive on without hitting deep potholes. Also, having two pools sounds nice, unless they’re rarely open. There were a handful of incidents in the year that we’ve lived here where the indoor pool was not open for weeks at a time due to maintenance or other issues. While this isn’t directly their fault, it is frustrating when it is a reoccuring issue.2. The main issue is that most of the office staff seem either incompetent or ignorant to what they are doing. There have been likely 5-6 times we have had a discussion with the office where i was told i would receive a call with more information or concerning an issue, where I never received any communication and had to keep calling them to remind them of our conversation. This wasn’t a big deal the first couple of times, but it continues to be an issue after a year of living here.3. Maintenance is usually on their game, but there are times when i could be waiting days for urgent issues such as not having hot water. Repeated calls to the office will get you their standard “we’ll get back with you” response, which never actually happens. For the price point, I would expect better from an apartment complex. I would advise looking elsewhere.
I moved here over two years ago. The staff was great and found the perfect apartment to fit my needs. The maintenance team is awesome! They are friendly and are quick to respond to any maintenance requests. I would highly recommend Drakes Pond because of the location and amenities.
Drakes pond apartment complex is a lot nicer than most places your going to find around Kalamazoo in a reasonable price range. Theres plenty of amenities and, from my experience, the apartments are in great condition and maintenance staff is very helpful.
These are the ants that infested my apartment over the summer. I put in a request to have this issue fixed because the ant repellent I purchased did not work. Management did nothing to help and ants have uncontrollably been entering from under the sliding glass door. Whoever built these apartments did not do a good job sealing/caulking and not I live with ants.
We enjoy living at Drakes Pond Apartments. Though there is the occasional dinosaur giving lectures in out living room, the pets are always welcome. The office staff is always friendly and have been quick to help, even with the small things. The maintenance staff is knowledgeable and, though rarely needed, have been attentive to any necessary repairs.
Have to change my review because after living here for past months seems like everything in the apartment breaks. When you put a work order in seems like months or multiple times of putting work order in before they send someone to fix things. Been without a washer for almost three weeks i pay for the amenities but stuck washing clothes in the bath tubs raising electric because my dryer has to to run the same load so many times. Call the office Oh someone will be out there by end of the week is always their answer. When really they need to just come by and check it out see if needs to be replace. If you really want to come to this place make sure you prepare to wait if things break. Planning on finding a new place to live when lease is up.
Drakes Pond has been the best living experience I’ve had in Kalamazoo yet. You can tell the new office staff is really making a lot of great changes to the property and really care. Zach always remembers me and is always a pleasure. The new gym is amazing and the outdoor pool is so relaxing in the summer. Our apartment is a little pricier than others we saw but I really feel like I get what I’m paying for. Overall I really recommend living here and my roommate and I will definitely be resigning!
Today the ladies in the front office were kind enough to help me lug a very heavy, very bulky package into my car, so I figured it was time to leave a review. Ive lived here twice, once while I was in college (3 bedroom) and again for the last year (1 bedroom). Theyre pricey, so I waited until I got a deal on this unit, but otherwise Ive had no complaints. A weird point in their favor: the apartments seem to keep smells out. Im allergic to many fragrances as well as marijuana/tobacco smoke, which has been a problem for me at other places, but never here. Even when I can smell air fresheners in the hallway, it doesnt leak into the apartment itself. I havent really needed maintenance for anything, so I cant comment on that, but with the way things are currently going, I wouldnt mind living here for awhile.
I absolutely love my leasing agent Madison Mattingly! Madison has been so amazing at making our move in exactly what we wanted!!!! If ever a need should arise or any questions we’ve hadn’t she’s immediately there to help ❤️I highly recommend Moving into Drakes ponds and ask for Madison she’s a pure pleasure to work with and is highly motivated in always improving our property! (((((((Hands down the best)))))))
I’ve been living here for a couple months and its been quite. I love my peace and quite, especially amount of car spaces. Thanks to Madison that was able to happen!
I used to work there and staff will lie to you, especially maintenance. Fire inspections are a joke and not to code.
All in all Drakes pond is one of the nicest places Ive lived at in Kalamazoo. The office staff are very friendly, the maintenance men respond to requests quickly, and the neighbors havent been a total nuisance. For the price you pay per square foot and the amenities included this is a very reasonable place to live!
Residents be aware- I lived at Drakes Pond for 4 years (2014-2018). I didn’t have a bad experience overall, just that every year they make you renew earlier saying they would increase your monthly if you wait until your contracted term ended. Witch makes you never know when your actual contracted terms ends. Anyways, I had to cancel my contract early because I was getting married so I personality went to the office made them calculate to the dot my cancellation fees. I had to pay over $1,000 for a 4-5 months earlier cancellation (it was in the contract for early cancellations). I wrote a check trying to make sure there would not be extra hidden fees later on, they confirmed and off I went to move out. Months later I get a bill of a balance I still owed, and it went to a collection company. I called Drakes and the manager said that there is nothing they can do, that the fee is a miscalculation of the cancellation fees at the moment I made my “final” payment plus a month worth of water use. Water use is less than $7 a month, all the rest was a supposed miscalculation. Summary- at any given moment I can receive a bill from them saying they miscalculated and they can affect my credit by a mistake they did at the moment of balancing my account. It is not fair especially when nobody said anything when I left and now 6 months later I have to pay a collections company praying they didn’t miscalculate this again and I get another bill. But the managers at Drake could not do anything about it. What a way to get extra revenue for your company Drakes Pond!!
When we were faced with some weird and unusual circumstances, Madison and Susan were excellent in accommodating us to help keep our apartment. The staff truly cares about their residents and providing the best possible experience.
Such an accommodating staff. They helped me find the perfect apartment and have been incredibly helpful with my wife and myself, making this a great place to call home for the next couple years.
My boyfriend and I and our two dogs have lived here for about 8 months now and we love it! Madison is amazing and always so accommodating along with the rest of the staff. It’s a nice community to live in. Everyone’s friendly and it feels like you live in a big neighborhood! The maintenance is fantastic! They always get to what we need in a timely manner and are sure to be friendly and assuring in the process. If you have any questions I would highly recommend speaking to Madison! She’s my go to girl for everything!!
My family of 4 lived at drakes pond and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience! Madison in the front office was a tremendous help and always took such great care of us! The rooms are spacious, and maintenance was always quick to respond when we needed things fixed here and there. Over all, I would highly recommend to anyone and everyone!
My car got broken in to & they did absolutely nothing about it. Didn’t even show a bit of sympathy towards the situation. Apparently it happens at lot of here while asking my neighbors. I don’t recommend living here at all ! it cost way to much & it’s just not worth the price. It’s embarrassing ! it’s a “private property” but yet no action is being taken. Not to mention my building door that is supposed to lock don’t close anymore. It’s been like this for months and yet nothing has been done about it.I cannot wait until my lease is up.
Drakes Pond has been a great experience close to downtown Kalamazoo. Indoor/Outdoor Pool & Hot Tubs, Gym & Tanning bed among the many amenities provided by Drakes Pond. Maintenance manager Dave & office manager Brittney demonstrated great customer service. Madison was extremely helpful during my application process and even drove to drakes pond in the middle of night w/ her child to handle an issue for me as a resident. A ++
I lived at Drakes Pond from 2017 to the start of 2020. Below are my thoughts! Overall a decent place to live.Pros: The apartments are spacious and have everything you need. The property is a bit outdated but if you can look past that its nice. My neighbors were nice and quiet. Gym was nice to have but a bit outdated so I ended up going to Planet Fitness up the road. You cant beat the location. Its close to everything. Office staff has drastically improved from 2017 to 2020. Madison in particular was extremely helpful during my lease break! Pool was also nice to have in the summer. They took care of the snow in the winter. I loved the addition of the Amazon hub. This made getting packages easy.Cons: When I moved in the carpets were a wreck. Looking back I should have asked them to replace it up front. My apartment was a dog free apartment building at first. Mid way through my lease they changed it to a dog building and didnt notify anyone. I thought that was a bit weird. They also upd my rent but said if I signed a few weeks earlier it could have stayed the same. No one ever told me about this deadline though. I did witness kids trying to open car doors during the day and throwing rocks around the parking lot (sidenote- I did go for nightly runs without issues here). The gym and pool would sometimes be trashed. At the end of my lease, I was somehow kicked off automatic payments and was charged a $100 late fee because of that. I went 2.5 years without a single late payment so well see how they handle this. They do need to update the grounds to compete with Parkway Flats and Greenspire.
I loved the community and living space, very relaxing with plenty of activities to do.
I sold my home of 10 years and come to live in the Drakes Pond community. Living here I have developed community with the office and maintenance staff, both of which are top of the line. My neighbors are amazing and the sense of community is found everywhere.I should have moved here sooner.Living here I found my home.
Everyone in the office is wonderful, the location of the complex is gorgeous, quick maintenance, Good sized units.
I love living at Drakes Pond! The office staff is professional and attentive. I can email them anytime I have a question and I get a response right away. They go above and beyond for their residents. They even watered my plants everyday when I was gone on a work trip for 2 weeks! I have been impressed with their maintenance services as well. The property is beautiful. I enjoy walking around the lake at the front. Overall, I am so happy that I moved here. Best apartment complex ever!
Drakes Pond do nothing with our complaints about noisy neighbors. After called the police for help not working we asked them to do something. Every time they just say they will send some notice but they never actually did. Were just not happy when paying over $1,200 each month and the office do nothing to help. Not worth it. Most of the appliance is old. And when your neighbor is cooking during the mid of night, your whole apt gonna smell like a kitchen, not even a good one. They tried every way to let you renew the lease but nothing improved. Ive lived here 3 years. Its all just getting worse. Not recommended at all.
Maintenance is always very quick to fix issues and friendly! Everything is kept in good shape. Lived here almost a year and no complaints. Ive lived in many apartments around kalamazoo being a graduate now this is one of the best Ive lived in. No parties or loud college students and pretty peaceful complex to walk around in.
I currently live here and I am currently finishing up my 2nd year. The complex itself is nice and the amenities are great when they are open. Management can be tricky so be careful and ask lots of questions before getting into anything and get ALL conversations in writing. Maintenance here is terrible although they have gotten slightly better. Most of your problems will be in the winter. They dont shovel walk ways. Neither do the companies they contracted out. Lights throughout the complex go out all the time which means its very dark at night. Make sure you have an alarm on your car and preferably your apartment too. My car was broken into twice...Watch out for unexpected charges and fees. Overall if there was new ownership to run this place it would be an amazing place. The staff make it not so great. And the staff changes often. They appear to have trouble keeping people. There are only a few staff members that were here two years ago when I signed my lease...I have only managed to continue being here because I do most of the work that needs to be done in my apartment myself and in the winter I go out and shovel/salt my own walkway. It is too much of a hassle dealing with their staff and management team. For what they charge in rent I believe they need to hold themselves to a higher standard in the way they operate this complex...If things change and get better before I leave I will come back and update my review of this place but for now this is the rating I give them.
Welcoming community and awesome staff. Everyone is very friendly and attentive to their work. Love the community events that the office holds, and amenities that the complex offers.
I have carpet edges peeling away from the wall and tact floor. Paint they use is simply water base. Maintenance is a joke. Garbage area is just horrible before and after the garbage company picks it up which we pay as a tenant. Water comes out dark brown. Again which we pay as a tenant. Bottom line over priced facilities not worth what they charge. In lament terms they have neat features but poor quality.
My husband and I love it here! The office staff is super helpful and super nice. Weve never had an issue with things not being fixed in a timely manner. Overall very happy with our experience here!
If the hot tub could ever be open thatd be awesome.(Its now been a month with it working, progress.)Edit: Never mind day after I updated its down again.
My roommate and I have lived here for about a month and we already love it. The two bedroom/two bathroom crane apartments are so beautiful and spacious! Everything but the kitchen is much larger than what is offered at other apartments. It’s slightly expensive but, well worth the money because there are so many other amenities like the indoor and outdoor pool and hot tubs. The staff are also super friendly. Zach knows us by name and is our go to guy, he’s super patient, knowledgeable, and professional! When we first viewed the apartment we had a million questions and Zach was quick to answer them all and has continued to be great at calling or emailing us with follow up information whenever we have any questions or concerns. I highly recommend Drakes Pond.
Rent is fairly priced, the property is well-kept, and there are plenty of amenities and community events to give you things to do. Would recommend
Called and talked to Madison. She was very friendly and was able to answer all my questions and even followed up with me to ensure I had all the information I needed. Having lived in so many places with poor management it is refreshing to speak with someone so professional and knowledgeable!
I have lived at Drakes Pond since I moved in Michigan, 2013 from Kentucky. Very nice community to live and very safe. Office staff is very friendly and well manner. I see some negative comments here about office staff or their services, but I never trouble with them. Drakes Pond is also very dog friendly too. My dog likes to stop by at the office because he knows he can get a treat there! 😀Very convenience location for shopping, dine out, and easy access to freeway, etc. I never have any trouble and I enjoy living here overall. However, reason for I gave 3 🌟 🌟 🌟 because I feel the rent is bit over priced here with current property condition. The rent is keep increasing, but nothing I see any improvement or change property condition.
Lots of amenities, up-to-date units, personable and patient staff. Maintenance staff is polite and hard-working. Would recommend any day.
Lavina and Norma provide excellent customer service. They made moving in a smooth process. I appreciate their willingness to help and answer my questions and concerns. I recommend this apartment complex due to the strong staff.
$1400 early buyout fee + $1950 in rent. $3350.00 now I can move out and be thankful that I did!Dogs barking during the middle of the night. People smoking in their apartments when they shouldn’t be. The most overpriced apartments within 50 miles. No elevators. No baseboards in my apartment. People constantly moving in and out of the apartment complex. Overfilled trash cans with furniture and bedding. Potholes that could swallow up a car. Parking is always an issue. I paid an extra $100 per month for a short term lease. Looking back on that, Drakes Pond should have paid me. As a renter you have more power then Drakes Pond does. Because people are constantly moving out they always need someone to move in. With that being said, set your own terms when negotiating your lease with Drakes Pond. $200 deposit and $650 a month for a two bedroom one bath apartment with no early buyout fee.
Living at Drakes Pond since May and can say I’ve definitely had a great experience. Maintenance is always friendly and willing to help. And Zach in the office is the best and always follows up when I call.
This apartment is one huge scam. I lived here for a year and a half. Always paid rent on time and took care of the unit (which was NOT worth the ridiculous price). Since moving out they have tried in every way possible to charge us fees on fees. We have to pay 2 additional months of rent aside from what the lease entailed because of a miscommunication in the office (which is a very common occurrence). Their favorite saying is, there is nothing I can do. On top of this they cancelled our auto pay and are currently trying to blame us for their mistake AND charge us a late fee! If you live here you WILL lose a ton of money. And not to mention the luxury ideal of this place is complete bull. They do not keep up with care of the apartments, its noisier than any college apartment I have ever lived at, and majority of the bonus features (pool, gym, etc) are closed due to damage. Additionally, there is literally no parking ever because they do not regulate who is parking in the lot, so expect to have to walk from at least 3 or 4 apartment buildings away to get to yours. Now, I remember reading reviews like this when I moved in thinking, they must be over exaggerating, there is no way it is that bad. I was wrong! I wish I would have listened. Save yourself the time and money. DO NOT LIVE IN THIS TERRIBLE PLACE.
Very overpriced for what you get. Maintenance is absolutely unresponsive. The first week we moved in, we did not have hot water. We had to call every day for a week before somebody came out to fix it, and the leasing staff constantly told us that they cant expedite the repair even though it is an essential to everyday life. Once the technician showed up, he says Oh wow, I cant believe they let you go a whole week without hot water! We wouldve come over right away if we had known. So apparently the leasing staff just didnt feel like attempting to fix our problem in a timely manner. Not a great way to start out our experience at Drakes Pond. Our fire alarm also went bad a few weeks ago. You would assume that the entire staff would consider this a high priority repair considering the potential ramifications they would face should something happen, but they have not shown up nor called us back regarding the issue at all. i find it very concerning that although we reported this issue the day it happened, they havent even attempted to fix it.Finally, we have been overcharged on our lease for two months in a row. It took three phone calls and two in person appointments to get this issue corrected, and we were constantly told theres nothing we can do. This was extremely inconvenient and ridiculous considering this is their job and they cant do it right.Theres nothing good about this place.
Madison in the leasing office was phenomenal. We were on a bit of a time crunch when we first came into the leasing office (like a four day time crunch) and Madison helped us apply, get all of our necessary information in and process, get approved, and get us our keys so we could move in ASAP all before that four day time frame and got us into our new home before we had to leave the other place. She was so kind and helpful when I was stressed and ready to freak out. I can’t say enough about how helpful she was. Every time I go to the office to pick up packages, she is still the sweetest thing! Always making conversation and checking up on how things are going for us. Super thankful that we lucked out on getting to work with her that day. Go Madison!
Ive been living at Drakes Pond for 2 years. I used to love this place. I really thought Id be here long term. Staff was always friendly, amenities were nice, and service was done in timely fashion. They served breakfast and coffee to residents, and there was a sense of community. Recently (in the last 3-4 months) they switched management, and this place has gone downhill REALLY fast. They stopped serving breakfast. They started being mean to the children who live in the condominium (I personally watched 2 different kids get yelled at by the condominiums staff, while waiting on the bus stop, and doing nothing wrong). Parking is extremely scarce. It is obvious they started targeting college students - even though they advertise the place as family-friendly. Most recently, they closed the indoor pool and gym with literally no notice to the residents - and right during childrens school Winter-break. There has been absolutely no regard for residents (including for their safety) in the last few months (since the change in management). Children who live here, and used to be able to wait for their school buses inside the clubhouse, while eating breakfast, now have to wait outside in the cold. Amenities that were promised at contract (such as the pool and gym) are closed with no notice. Office staff is not always available during office hours. I am sad that a place I used to love to live is now a place I very much dislike coming home to (specially cause I never know if Ill even find parking near my building). I do not recommend ANYONE moving here now - specially if you have kids or are looking for a family-friendly place. They need to get their s***t back together before its a pleasant place to live again... right now - unfortunately, it isnt.
I spent years at Drakes Pond - I wanted to stay as it’s close to work etc but each time the rent went up the maintenance never got done, the office staff has a high turnover as does the management company for the apartments - manager Matt was so rude!!! - my packages got lost, the hallway smelled of dogs and we were a dog free building - the indoor pool jacuzzi and gym was always broken down or closed for some reason - such a shame - terrible snow removal, got snowed in then ploughing didn’t happen until 2pm most days!!! Then maintenance never fixed anything in the apartment properly. Pay a little more and rent elsewhere - the place is a disgrace! Leasing consultant Zach was always fantastic though!!
Very nice complex. Friendly staff and very safe!
The office and maintenance staff has made my family feel so welcome here, I couldnt imagine living anywhere else! Thank you for all your love and generosity, Drakes Pond!
100% not worth the money you spend to stay here. The workers will not be very helpful. Required to leave a 60 day notice, even though you sign a lease and they know when it ends. They still require you to notify them. Also there are quite a few maintenance problems with the buildings. I highly recommend finding another apartment to live in, cause it may look good on the outside, but its definitely not a community.
Have lived here for two months so far and love it very much. The indoor hot tub is awesome, the balconies are huge, and the washer and dryer inside the room is a great feature. Very lovely neighborhood and landscaping. Its great that I can keep my cat here, too.
Super friendly community
I have lived at Drakes Pond since August. Maintaince is quick to respond! Our dishwasher went out and with in a day, we got a brand new dishwasher! When ever I need anything Madison in the front office is quick, kind, and extreamly pleasant! All the staff in the office is awesome, I highly recommend living here.
Apartment are in good condition, staff members are attentive and nice, great amenities.
Drakes Pond has been accommodating to my particular situation. I am wheelchair-bound. They have been helpful in whatever way they can since Ive moved here.
I have lived at Drakes Pond for the last 6 years, and have been very pleased with my time and experiences here. In general, the office staff are friendly, helpful and accommodating, and maintenance requests are quickly addressed. The apartments are spacious, comfortable and private, and the grounds and public areas (fitness center, pools, ect.) are well maintained.
They dont deserve the one star. This residence is far from luxury. When I lived there my meter with Consumers Energy was confused with another labelled exactly the same as the one for my apartment. After my power was turned off several times I went to the office for help. They were not helpful. After 6 months of my power and utilities being repeatedly turned off and on I finally, with the help of a consumers energy technician realized the cause of the mix up. I then learned that the bill I had been paying was actually powering the lights and hallways for the entire building. I brought the bill to the office, and was informed by another staff member that the tenant who had previously occupied my apartment had the same problem and that the staff were aware of the mixed meter the whole time. They refused to take ownership of the bill for the hallways, even after months of my reminding them of the situation on several occasions. Eventually, consumers energy shut off the power to the hallways, leaving the common areas of the entire building dark. This entire situation was completely unprofessional. In addition, the indoor pool was out of use for the majority of the time I lived there.
Madi in the office is amazing! Highly recommend and go see her!!!
EDIT - After 2 years of living here, I would never recommend this property again. The staff is rude and unhelpful, and has not followed through on a single promise made. The property and the apartments are not well kept, and we were charged for damages we were not responsible for upon moving out. When we disputed the charges, the staff tried to recode them to make it look like we owed them rent, even though we moved out months ago. The upper management is disorganized and has been impossible to work with. As a former WMU student and young professional in Kalamazoo, I can assure you there are much nicer, safer places to live with a lot less headache involved!
The apartments themselves are beautiful, Madison is amazing. Helping with everything from start to finish: application questions, lease concerns, late night messages about my water heater pilot light. -reason for the single star.My first review was one star, like this one is; however, last time I was convinced to change my review and my issue with an obnoxious neighbor was going to be resolved. It hasnt. Ive been here since April and get woken up in the middle of the night to the people BELOW me slamming their doors and their dog barking. Too make it more clear how bad it is, I can feel them slamming things in my apartment. Not only that, their dog relieves itself on the balcony and I have reported the issue multiple times. Needless to say if you have an issue with not being able to get sleep and peace in your home, the management here will only run you in circles with hollow promises.
Its a good community. Everyone is friendly and helpful. They have a lot of good attractions that both adults and children enjoy.
Nice apartment!! We did have a few issues with our lease that were frustrating, however, the staff at drakes pond worked with us and made everything right! I️ have never worked with an apartment that has been so willing to negotiate and compromise. Staff was always available and very friendly. We worked specifically with Lavina who was amazing!!
I think Drakes pond is a good place to live, but when it comes to the staff Julie has been amazing. She is our go to person for all of our issues and concerns. She listens to the problem and get them addressed immediately.
