Things never seem to work when I was there. Issues being able to do laundry! They advertise laundry is on every floor. it is…. but many times the machines to load money on the cards were broke. Couldn’t use the debit machine the whole covid while there was a shortage on cash. My calls basically were dismissed. With no apology for the hassle. Then they finally told me I could go see them in the office when both were down for awhile. Which would be great. They aren’t open the hours I work. I was told I don’t know what to tell you then. My wife never felt safe as it seemed like our packages were getting stolen and someone called the cops for one criminal activity or another seemingly twice a week. I’m now officially out in a better place for cheaper. With a much more responsive staff. Just wanted to warn anyone else this place is not worth it.

Two starts only for the people working here. I am a tenant since 3 years and each year has been getting worse. The corridor smell very bad and no carpet is replaced: it was cleaned after I reported it but still stinks. The pools are still closed and nobody can tell you why and when they will open it. The fitness center is dirty. Overall lack of maintenance, this place used to be way better.Added on 09/10/2021: as of today they are still saying that due to covid amenities such as pools and fitness center will stay closed. I go to my gym and i can workout and swim, its not a state mandate. And there is no evidence that covid spreads through treated water (CDC).

I lived at Candlewyck for a year. I would still be there but I was able to buy a house. Tina and her office staff are very friendly and accommodating. Every time I had questions or an issue it was quickly resolved. The matenance guys are awesome. They are usually there same day or the next after they get a call. I really have no complaints and in fact will recommend anyone to live here. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. My granddaughter and I took many walks all over the property in all seasons and thoroughly enjoyed it. All in all, this is a great place to live. Family and pet friendly, great snow removal, clean hallways & nightly security. What more could you ask for!

Staff is very sweet and professional and would answer all of your needs. 10/10 recommend living here!:)

Overall, Candlewyck is a good apartment complex to live in! Ive signed two leases with them and Im only leaving now because Im a homeowner. My partner and I loved our two-bedroom, balcony apartment. Ill never forget our first Christmas in this apartment with our stockings hung above our fire place. It was nice to have some summer days at the pool or just being able to walk around the complex. Its close to great businesses, but in a location that makes you feel at peace.I will not lie, there have been a few issues such having our cars broken into and Im not the greatest fan of the laundry units. However, the Candlewyck staff did what they could about the break-ins.Overall, Ive had mostly positive experiences while living here. I would resigned my lease had my partner and I not bought a house! If you need a nice apartment to live in, definitely consider Candlewyck!

I have lived here for about 3 years now, I used to live in a 2 bedroom for the first two years and it was great! I moved into a one bedroom last fall and I feel like since then I have had more issues than the other side of the complex. AC has gone out multiple times and I have contacted them about it but seems they fix it and a week later its broken again. A tad out dated but for the price it is not too bad. The only other issue I have is just hearing peoples tv or music later at night. It can be sometimes difficult to contact the office but maintenance typically responds in a day or two. Overall it is a pretty nice complex for the price in the area.

I lived at Candlewyck for two years. My first year was wonderful, no issues, very quiet, just what I needed in a home. The second year got a little interesting. I got new downstairs neighbors that constantly were slamming their sliding glass door- literally making things rattle on my tables and shelves- all hours of the night- waking me up even. Made multiple complaints to the office and nothing changed. I also had an issue with my dishwasher where it need replacement, which took almost a month. It had standing water sitting in it for about two weeks before I had to speak up to get it cleaned, as I have a bad mold allergy and asthma, and it was making me sick. Lastly, a little bit before I moved, I came home one day to see kids walking on top of the garages- I have video proof of this one- and left a message with the office. Nothing was said of it, no one contacted me back, nothing. In my opinion, that’s unsafe for the kids, the property, drivers, etc. Anything could have happened, and it’s saddening to see nothing come up of it, not even a notice to all tenants. All that being said, compared to other living situation I’ve had, it was a decent experience. All things have good and bad. Kate is an absolute doll and a blessing to that office. Tina is overall pleasant to work with. I would look around at comparable apartment complexes, but wouldn’t give this one a hard no either.

Pros: Staff and maintenance are very responsive and timely with concerns and issues. Very nice and friendly as well. Staff were able complete the entire move-in process with my friend and I in just 2 weeks.Cons: Walls are pretty thin. I could here my roommate fairly well in the room next to me. Overall look and appliances are outdated, to the point where Ive had to make a ton of maintenance requests to fix some of the closet/bedroom doors because they kept falling off of the hinges. I also HATE their laundry card system. The only place where you can put more money on your laundry card is the gym thats part of the main office building. They have two laundry card machines, one for cash and one for credit card as options, and at least one of them is always down. They need to just put one in each building so people dont have to walk far, or switch to letting us reload money online.

I have rented from Candlewyck for over 24 years. A long time to rent from any one place. For me, there have been many positives to renting at Candlewyck. I have always found the location to be convenient and centrally located. There has been several different owners and management staff over the years. The current owners and management staff have been the best of the bunch. The management and maintenance staff has always been friendly and has promptly addressed any concerns. There has been a lot of time and money invested in updating the apartment complex the last few years. The apartments are a good size and well built. A nice perk is that the office staff will take delivery of packages if you are not at home or working. This had been great when one has an adult son, living with you, that orders a lot of stuff. There have been times that other tenants have been a pain but nothing is perfect. People need to remember that their apartment and the complex is their home and that you live with a lot of other people.

PLEASE READ!Candlewyck used to be a really nice apartment complex. Ever since Zidan management took over it has gotten really bad. The rates have gone up every year by $60-80 a month since they took over. The facilities are gross now and good luck getting anything done with the office. There are also a lot of hidden fees. Weve had items go missing after the maintenance team let themselves in and said team does very shoddy work. They left strips of exposed tack strips in between the kitchen and dining room. They allow people to smoke on their balconies; we couldnt have our windows open on nice days because the smoke would come in our windows. By the end my fiance was spending ~$925 for rent and utilities (not including internet or washer/dryer use) for a single bedroom apartment. Avoid at all costs.

My neighbors are nice people always saying hi when we see each other, holding doors open and whatnot. Maintenance is good and timely. They replaced the sliding glass doors, repaired the parking lot, and did a lot of upkeep last year, which is awesome to see the place looking beautiful. They have been cracking down on drug use in the apartments. It seems to be a pretty safe community, there are often young children outside playing, riding bikes, and walking their pets. The buildings are older, but they aren’t built like this anymore, sturdy quality. There are a few creaks here and there in the floor boards, but even newer complexes have that issue. I will definitely be staying here until I purchase a house.

Candlewyck had the most reasonable rent out of every place we were searching for; they are pet friendly and allowed us our two corgis. The office was really accommodating with our situation and let us move in a little early. With the winter months coming on, we have our heat on but we rarely hear it kick on at all. The place is really well insulated! The stove is kind of old but works really well and so does everything else. Sometimes we hear our neighbors upstairs, which is kind of obnoxious, but its not a constant thing. We rarely hear anything in the hallway and the nights are so quiet! Its really lovely. The grounds are spacious and its not very far from a park with a nice walking trail, which is good for our dogs. My only complaint is with the washers and driers, which are not in unit but instead are card operated things in the building hallways. I dont really like having to do my laundry in a laundromat style but thats really my only complaint about the place. My neighbors are really nice and I havent had any problems with management or with the people that live around me. Its a good place for families and for people who prefer a quieter lifestyle. Sometimes the kids are a little loud but even then you dont hear them that much. Love it!

I have lived at Candlewyck for almost five years. Overall, this has been a good place to live, but there are a few complaints I have that I think are worth sharing with anyone considering living at Candlewyck. Management does not care about you, only your money. For example, during construction in the complex this summer I was treated terribly as a tenant. I rent a garage because I care about keeping my newly purchased vehicle ding and scratch free. I use this garage to park my car every day. However, there were multiple instances where I was blocked into this garage due to this construction. Management did nothing during the incident to fix the issue. Lip service after the fact is not helpful. In multiple emails they threaten towing illegally parked vehicles, but trust me, they have not and probably will not tow anyone. Construction continued to keep me out of this garage for an additional week and a half. This makes a total of two weeks in June that I was unable to use the garage. My request to management was to refund half of my garage rental for the month of June (half of four weeks in a month is two weeks). Management is refusing to provide me any sort of refund or compensation for this issue. I know it seems small, but that is exactly my point. Putting out a very small amount of money to make a long time tenant happy should not be a problem. Do not live here if you want to be treated as anything more than a profit.

Back in April, Candlewyck evicted one of their tenants and threw away everything in the storage unit. They made a huge mistake though and instead of throwing away the things in the evicted persons unit, they threw away everything in my friends unit. When my friends checked their storage unit it was completely empty and they had been given no warning and Candlewyck admitted to their mistake. My friends had many sentimental and rare items, as well as a lot of furniture that was all thrown out. The only compensation they were offered was a free garage for a year which doesnt at all make up for the loss of all their sentimental and valuable belongings. Watch out for the management here, if they could do this to my friends they could do it to anyone.

Lived here for two and a half years. Charged me almost $700 a month for a 700 square foot apartment (WAY overpriced). The apartment had appliances from the 70s that barely worked and the carpet had obviously not been changed out in decades. Drug busts by the police happened in my building once every couple of months usually in the very early hours of the morning. Other residents were very loud. Visitors parked in resident parking all the time and the front office never did anything about it. When it came time to move out they said I never gave them notice 30 days in advance despite having told them in written form and by mouth 6 months in prior when negotiating my new lease. Save yourself the headache and live somewhere else. Also half of the front office staff are totally bitchy the majority of the time. The only nice person was Kate.

This apartment complex gives the appearance that they have it together, however after moving in, it has been one problem after the next. We were told that things would be fixed before we moved in and 5 months in after major badgering they would do just enough to quiet us down. When there is a problem in the building and something needs repaired we are not given enough notification to handle anything we may need to on our end ( water heater replaced ie water was shut off with no notice. Mind you the company that replaced it was out the week prior to look at the water heater) We returned from Thanksgiving vacation to no heat in our apartment only to discover that the “Emergency Line” they provide for us to call is only for emergencies durning 8am-8pm therefore my family had to go through the night with no heat. I don’t recommend this place to anyone. You will only end up paying rent to a place that will not handle their end of the deal being an apartment complex.

I’ve lived at Candlewyck for going on 13yrs now. I’ve seen it really change over that time. It used to be a quiet, low crime, well kept community. Lately, I feel the opposite. The past few years it has increasingly gotten worse. Most recently, my 30yr old refrigerator broke and was needed to be replaced. Due to Covid-19, I was told they were on back order and none were available until Oct/November so a sub par one was brought to me temporarily. In the meantime, I was placed in a waiting list for a new one. Several months later tomorrow December 1st and still nothing. The one I have took a lot of bleach to make it smell acceptable. I only have one condiment shelf as the other two are missing bars. The drawers are cracked. The freezer doesn’t hard freeze things like ice cream. Preventative maintenance is not done anymore either. I live in a unit with a fireplace, which is an up charge in my rent and I’m fearful of using it, as it has not been cleaned in years. I purchase my own furnace filters because I like high quality ones and those used to get changed in the fall each year along with the smoke alarm batteries and those haven’t been done in years either unless there is an issue. It seems as if the community only runs on emergencies. They put new lighting in my building which is nice but doesn’t mask the lack of cleaning the staff doesn’t do or the underlying mechanical issues like last summer when my AC went out 6 times before someone finally correctly fixed the issue. My electric is still high all summer months because the unit is an original and extremely inefficient. Parking is terrible. The office staff recently was out marking cars to be towed that don’t have stickers which is outlined in the lease. That worked for about 2 days but nothing has been done since so we are back to no parking spots for residents and it’s going to be even worse with the snow fall this winter. I’ve expressed all of my concerns in writing and feel like they have not been addressed. I’m aware that the property manager, whom I really do like, only has so much say so but this is people’s homes and a reflection of me when I have guests over. Understandably Covid-19 has posed a lot of unforeseen issues, however most of these issues were going on long before then. I’m not a fan of trash all over, kids running out in front of cars in the parking lot, and the lack of pride the ownership takes here and it’s really showing. I’m not alone many of my neighbors have similar issues or frustrations and my requests are not wants they are needs. My apt hasn’t been updated in going on 13 years. Luckily I’m a good tenant and like to live in a nice place and keep it looking that way. I just feel that for the tens of thousands I have spent to live here over the years, I would have more to show for it. I could elaborate even more but I hope they take the thoughtful concerns of longtime residents in consideration as this is our home.

My biggest problem with Candlewyck Apartments is that they dont give you almost any notice when they need to enter your apartment to do maintenance work (like seasonal checks of filters and the furnace). They will give you notice the day before any work is to be done, and usually not till late afternoon/early evening, so you wont even have 24 hours to try to make arrangements for strangers being in your apartment making noise and being in the way.For example, just this evening I found a notice on my door saying I am to expect someone from at&t and a candlewyck employee in my apartment tomorrow anytime between 9am-5pm to install wiring in my livingroom. And then back in spring or summer they did work on the outside of the apartments, hammering loudly, all day long, and climbing up onto peoples balconies to work on the on the sliding glass windows. Only thing was they didnt send out any kind of notice for that one, not even the day before, and not only did I about have a heart attack as the silhouette of a man came climbing up over my balcony and reached for my sliding glass door, but I had important calls to make that day that I wasnt able to do because of all the noise. All they would have needed to do was give us, the people who live there, enough notice for us to fix our schedules around the noisy maintenance work they needed to get done. I can so very easily arrange to do my work somewhere else, or avoid having company over on a specific day, or arrange somewhere out of they way for my dog to be, if only they would TELL us ahead of time. I understand if there is short or no notice if for example something like a water pipe breaks, but these are things that they for sure knew about ahead of time (as the at&t people have been hovering around the property and stomping on the roof, with no notice of course, for the past couple weeks) and should be able to give us more than 15 hours notice.Another thing I am not very fond of is the fact that they get out their extremely loud leaf blowers way more than is necessary, and a lot of the time way earlier than they should be. This past fall they would start up the leaf blowers at 7:30am and come around to re-leaf blow every hour until they made about 4-5 rounds. They also use the leaf blowers frequently in spring and summer (though I dont know why, its not like we live in a forest), and will often use them to attempt snow removal in winter, which never seems to work very well (I feel sorry for the maintenance workers who have to use them), and results in them taking ages to get anything done in the wee hours of the morning with super loud equipment right under your window. And dont worry, they will be back for round 2 and 3 once you start drifting off to sleep again.Other than those important things, Candlewyck isnt a bad place to live. My neighbors have always kept appropriate noise levels and have been courteous when I meet then in the halls or on the grounds. Any calls I have made when I needed maintenance done (problems with my furnace, kitchen light, ect.) have all been looked at and fixed the day of and the office staff is polite and friendly. My apartment (1 bedroom 1 bath) has a lot of closet/storage space, and doesnt have a dirty, dark, or dingy feel like Ive had at other apartments. I would be quite happy living here if it werent for those 2 big complaints I listed above.**EDIT**Due to unfortunate situations beyond my control, and having nothing to do with Candlewyck, I recently had to break my lease early and move out of my apartment. The office staff and management was very understanding and reasonable when arranging a move out date and lease breaking fees. I had lived in my apartment with my dog for a little over 2 years, took care of it, made sure to leave the place freshly scrubbed and cleaned, and I got my full security deposit back without any hassle. I was very impressed and grateful for how staff and management handled this situation, so Im bumping my rating up from 3 stars to 4.

Candlewyck is honestly the worst Apartments you could go to. I went to open my bedroom door & because the place is so old it fell off its hinges. This has happened 10 plus times. Same goes for the bathroom door & my mothers door. We dont open the doors aggressively, just open it like any other door & then its off its hinges & we have to put it back in place. I lost my keys and went to the office to get them replaced. The key to get into my building worked but the key to get into my actual apartment didnt. I called them about this and they said to just wiggle it. I explained to them that I tried that & the lock wasnt moving whatsoever & it took me having to go back to the office & explaining the situation to them again for me to get a new pair of keys. Luckily, they worked this time. You can hear literally every step your upstairs neighbors take, it sounds as if they are in your own apartment stomping right next to you. Sometimes theyll take a step and the wood underneath the carpet will crack so loudly it hurts my ears. If they have kids and the kids are jumping, hope your flat screen tv is secured in place well, because your apartment will literally shake. Ive had things fall over from them jumping & have seen my tv wobble as well as pictures I have hanging. I can hear literally every word my downstairs neighbors say when they are arguing which is fairly often. You can hear people getting into their cars in the morning and driving away, you hear the bus stop, birds chirping as if you are sitting outside, owls hooting, you can hear children screaming and yelling and crying while playing outside. Its horrendous. You will not ever get to sleep in if youre exhausted or have any quiet living here. Every night my sleep is interrupted whether it be because of arguing, upstairs neighbors, the bus, people leaving, kids fighting outside, and animals making noise. Usually its a combination of these things. The apartments are so old they are constantly making renovations that are very loud and noisy throughout the day. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere.

Worst possible place to live! Do not live here if you have a family you care about! Drugs run rampant in most of the buildings and the property manager does nothing to solve problems. Her only solution is for residents to call the cops on other tenants because she does not care to do her job. Would give a negative review if possible. Do not waste your money on these out of age and out of building code apartments.

Worst ever. where should I beginthey guy who did drugs in the apartment under us 24/7 when I was pregnant and having an infant.or when I had to break a lease because of job loss and my daughter being born they said I had a year to pay off the lease breakage fee and they sent it to collections without contacting me they sent the letters to themselves not us when they had our address and worse we were make payments on it every month. The people in the office are horrible and rude. Constant partying going on and it was suppose to be a good family place well that is so wrong unless drugs alcohol smells and in the buildings are normal in a family place oh and someone killed themselves in our building when we were there after overdosing. not a good place at all. that is just the beginning...

This place charged us 1,400 for a place that looks like any other northside kalamazoo apartmen complex. yet this is in the better part of kalamazoo. the buildings on the inside dont look that great like things were just covered up or masked. the management sucks for personality skills and being helpful. we have to give a 30 day notice on everything including giving up an optional garage.I severely discredit this place. i know of tons of better places and cheaper too that feel more like home.

If the apartment complex doesnt press charges against the tennant that assaulted his companion on Saturday, as a tennant myself, I would start to questions the lease agreement and rental process along side the pricing.
