Wonderful and quiet place to stay. Ive been here a month, and Im truly enjoying it. The staff is nice and the property is well maintained.

Love this place! My wife and I needed a new place sooner than expected and were lucky to find such great apartments at a reasonable price. Lexus and Tanya (sorry if misspelled their names) have been great from the beginning. Very hospitable, kind and informative. They walked us through the process and got us into our new home right away! Even the maintenance guys have been great!

I was searching for a place for my children and I to stay during the pandemic that was available and affordable thats when I came across Charleston Place Apartments. I immediately called and talked to a very sweet women which was the manger. Later that day I came into the office and she showed me not one but three different apartments, to see which one I would be the most comfortable, while allowing me to text the appliances and all the lights for good order. After selecting my apartment I wanted, she quickly and efficiently drew up the paperwork, helped me through the application process and gave me clear instructions of the next steps I needed to take.After I came back approved, I immediately received a email of my lease agreement then after applicable time to read through I was followed up with a phone call from Charleston Place Apartments to see if I had any questions. The move in process was very simple and we did another walk through and the few discrepancies I had found maintenance came and repaired it on the spot.Since living here it has been a quiet and safe location for my kids. It is located close to all the shopping centers as well as schools and playgrounds. The property says clean and well kept and residents are very welcoming.The staff of Charleston Place Apartments went above and beyond to make sure I had such an easy and effortless transition into my new home! I recommend these apartments to anyone looking for a new place to call home!

Tania is AMAZING! I must’ve called or emailed her a dozen times with questions and she was quick to respond and very accommodating! She made my move so much easier by being so prompt and friendly! The unit was super clean and up to date upon my arrival! There is a TON of storage area for a one bedroom apartment which is fantastic. The bathroom and kitchen are both a good size as well! The property is clean and kept clear of debris. There is a nice jungle gym next to the club house for little ones to play. There hasn’t been any noise issues. And the complex is on the corner of an elementary school/park with a walking/running/biking path and another nice little public playground for kids. There’s also tennis courts and a pretty little lake with fountains! The area feels very safe and you can’t beat the location! Within 5 minutes of all the restaurants and stores! I really love the area so far and I’m happy I chose this place to call home for now!

Needed a place on the fly within my budget that would accept my dog. Let me say, management was extraordinarily helpful with getting me moved in quickly. The unit is up-to-date, very spacious, and has plenty of storage. I highly recommend Charleston Place Apartments to everyone.

I was able to get into the aprtment extremely quick, and the staff is just absolutely wonderful. It is a great area, and the neighbors are fantastic!

Charged extra for carpet cleaning at move out after claiming they would be replacing it in full. Repeatedly had maintenance come into apartment without knocking, even with multiple pets on pet sticker outside front door. Location is extremely loud from road and walls are thin. Office staff is kind and apartments are relatively clean, however.

I hate living here and I can’t wait to leave!! they will literally spy on you so they get a chance to charge you more money for this already expensive place. Yes one of the staff is nice but it’s not worth it... counting down my time here

I just moved in, but everyone has been awesome so far, any issues I brought up are handled fast, and the people in the office are super nice! I really love the location too, perfect for walking!

The apartments are nice and up to date. The neighbors are quiet for the most part. Awesome staff as well!Tania handles everything very quickly and is always very nice! All my emails and concerns are replied to promptly if I have any issues.I put in a work order for a leaking faucet and Ken took care of it right away.The location is the best. It is literally 2 minutes away from walmart lolIt is right off of Western and N Marine and thats where everything you need in Jacksonville is.I almost forgot to mention that it is very close to the middle school and high school where there is a running/walking trail and a park close by too which is awesome since I go on runs all the time.

Love it here finishing up our second year living here and love it! Close to everything such as grocery stores, restaurants! Management has been great with us, very helpful people with kind hearts! Maintence gets our work orders done when we need them done. Close to parks if you have children also a pond walking distance! I go for a run everyday near here its so nice! Thanks charleston place!

This is our second year of living in Charleston place, and we love it! We initially started in a two bed room and then moved to a three bedroom. It has been a pleasure staying here! Great community and great staff. The Apartment Complex is always having competitions and family friendly events. Around holidays they do door decorating competitions. Maintenance will usually come the same day or the day after to fix any problems. No bugs like most apartments around the area. 10/10 recommend. Couldn’t have asked for a better first apartment.

These prices are too expensive for what you get, which is nothing! I wish I would have waited until some decent apartments were available but these were the only apartments available in my time frame. I can’t wait until my lease is over, I’m so mad at myself for rushing! The only reason why these apartments get 2 stars is because it’s in a good area

The office staff is extremely friendly and answer any questions you have in a timely fashion. The community is really nice and there are always lots of activities going on to bring people together. Maintenance answers calls within 24 hours and will walk you through what theyre doing. The apartments are amazing, especially for the price. Theyre very pet friendly and even have a little dog park. So far our time here has been awesome and I definitely recommend checking out these apartments!

Absolutely love this place. The place is clean and well manicured. Office staff are amazing and very friendly. Everyone I have met in the complex have been super nice and have true hospitality. Very quiet place!! Love Love Love it.

Moving from Western NC and really liked these apartments and leasing staff immediately. Toured two units and the property and am filling out an application now. Love the area. Lots of things to do within walking distance, including a nice park and recreation center. Tons of shopping and dining options super close by. Looking forward to calling this home.

We couldn’t have picked a better community to call home! The entire staff is so friendly and welcoming, not to mention the maintenance team is the quickest and most efficient around. The units are beautifully maintained with homey upgrades. The convenient location to parks and shopping can’t be beat. Highly recommend!

This community is one of the best! The office is so professional, respectful, and very helpful. They are part of your family!! It means so much when I come home from work and there are treat for my puppie on the door!!I love how the apartment is set up and the it is very roomy. My husband I have lives here almost 3 months and I just have to brag about how sweet the management is here. They will go ABOVE AND BEYOND for you. The workers here are super friendly and there is always something going on and getting us all involved, like BBQ’s, Easter egg hunts for the kids, and just recently a community workout since gyms were closed down. This place is AMAZING!! 💗 I love you Charleston Place!!!

We’ve lived here for almost two years now and we love it! The office staff is amazing and are always planning events or giveaways to participate in. And anytime you see one of the maintenance guys outside they always wave and say hi. Everyone here is just extremely friendly and they go above and beyond to make you feel welcomed and at home!

Tania and Jo have been wonderful so far no complaints. The unit was very nice the grounds are kept clean maintenance is on top of things I would recommend anybody looking for apartment life and leave Jacksonville North Carolina area to check them out👍

I have lived here for many years. Master bathroom and bedroom are very nice size. Current office staff is helpful, friendly, and the best weve had here in years. Maintenance is great and quick to address and fix any issues. Very conveniently located close to stores and parks.

I have lived at Charleston Place for many years, and I have experienced several changes in management. The current management is doing a great job! They help quickly when needed. They installed a pool transfer chair to help me and others access the pool!😎

Ever since we moved in the staff (Tania and Jo) here have been super friendly and helpful whenever something needs to be taken care of, and even going out of there way to leave treats for our pet by our door. They’re always returning calls and keeping up to date with the residents needs. A huge shoutout to the guys over at Maintenance (Ken and Gary), we had an issue with the A/C unit freezing over but it was fixed relatively fast. Reading some of the old reviews had us skeptical on choosing this place to be our new home, but it has been no where near a bad experience . This has been nothing less than a pleasant stay so far!

Everyone is super friendly in the office and will do anything to help you. The maintenance guys are super nice and always say hello when they see you. It’s in a nice area where I can walk my dogs. The other complaints are from like a year or 2 ago and I’ve almost lived here a year and haven’t had a problem. If anything has ever happened, they fix it or help me as soon as they can.

I currently live here, in a 3rd floor 2 bedroom apartment. This review is lengthy, but detailed and as true as I can make it. I don’t get any perks/payment for this opinion.The apartments were great, at the beginning. Unfortunately they have gotten more and more disappointing as we continue our lease. The ladies at the front desk were great, until you annoyed them (Tania seemed really sweet, but we didn’t get to work with her a lot). The third floor had such little water pressure I couldn’t wash my hair and sometimes our shower would barely trickle water out. We asked the front desk several times about turning up the water - we were told it was the water company and they couldn’t do anything. That’s fine, we asked for the contact to their water company and were ignored and brushed off. We ended up working with maintenance and replacing water heads to get so-so pressure. Even now in the kitchen the water pressure is sad.Maintenance has been amazing, Kenny is a fantastic person who will help you even when you flag him down in the parking lot. Always polite and good natured, and has advice for little things like water pressure. Kenny is awesome!The rent is around $900 for our apartment. For that we got a fridge that I’m 90% sure was used as a BB gun target, a typical stove, a dishwasher that I’m pretty sure is as old as me - still has turn knobs, and you provide your own washer, dryer, and microwave. Not really a huge deal, but for $900 a month without utilities it’s disappointing. All white and very dated and pretty beat up. I wouldn’t mention this if the rent was $700 or even $800. But $900? However what they do provide works and get the job done.I enjoy the little surprises the office does on their Facebook! You can comment for pizza gift cards, leave reviews for gift cards, or get Ding Dong ditched with those Ding Dong snack cakes. It’s cute and a lot of fun, and I appreciate the effort that goes into it.The tipping point would be the front office again. They are great when things are fine, but get short when there is an actual issue which is not good because handling issues is a rather big part of the job as manager. There is a dog under us that howls and barks and screams for hours at a time. Starting from 5 am on and it’s been going on for over a month. This isn’t an occasional thing, and it’s not short term or in small doses. We contacted the front desk, and were told “it’s not a pet so I can’t make them get rid of it” (an ESA then which was very distasteful and unfair to our neighbor to heavily imply) and they couldn’t do anything. We have had to reach out a half dozen times, but get no help just annoyed emails. I can’t sleep in, I can’t drown out the noise and it’s been miserable. I am most upset though, about how short the office staff has gotten with us. It’s like it’s our fault that there is a screaming dog under us. No, I’m not happy. I don’t expect some eviction or to toss out the dog (I’m not out for blood, I literally just want peace), but something needs to be done. I feel like I’m being judged and made out to be the jerk for being upset for a dog screaming under me for hours at a time over a month plus. Once again we are being brushed off because the front office is annoyed with us and has decided they won’t do anything else so we are just a problem to ignore and send short emails to to placate us. It’s just disappointing how black and white the office can be. They can be so sweet and friendly, but if you have a problem (even if you’re open to suggestions, not being rude, and genuinely trying to help solve it) you’re made to be “that” person and ignored. We were told that’s just how apartments were. Well yes, this is my third one I’m quite aware that you will hear other people. However a screaming dog for hours really surpasses that acceptable threshold for “oh it’s apartment living”. All in all just disappointing - started out great but once the lease was signed and things actually required attention it just fell off the rails.

I love it here the people are nice

I have had a few problems with a couple things in my apartment and maintenance always shows up to fix it within 24 hours or less. I also like how kind, sweet, and helpful everyone is in the office whenever I call. I recently had an issue with one of my toilets and I called and reported it to the office. Ken walked me through the process because of the Covid guidelines. However, when I thought I hadn’t fixed it, I called the office to report it again and they sent someone over right away to check on it. I have always gotten great results whenever I have called the office whether it is something concerning a maintenance issue or something else.

Lived here for a little over 2 years and I enjoyed every bit of it. If I was single without a family I would continue to stay but we have to make room for the growing family. The staff and maintenance workers are extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgable. If you are looking for a nice apartment I extremely recommend. You will not regret it.

The management and staff are very professional. I had the pleasure of living here for a little over a year. The property is always kept in the best condition. Anyone looking for an apartment should definitely have this place as your first choice.

I have lived here for about two years and can’t complain the staff are amazing and always on top of everything.One if the great things is going to the pool and then getting greeted with ice pops .Keep up the amazing job and I recommend this community to anyone ready to live in a relax calm neighborhood.

If there was 0 star rating I would have given that. After Hurricane Florence hit, I returned to my unit to find my carpet in the entrance drenched in water, I mean it was soaked and stayed that way for a month. 2 of the closets and all the walls by the windows in the living room and one of the bedrooms had mold on them. One of the maintenance guys was around but none of the management returned to the office until 2 weeks after so I couldnt make a complaint until then. BUT, all the maintenance guy said was to clean the mold off myself with bleach in which I did daily for two weeks. I still suspect mold in the walls, but nothing is being done. The apt manager said she would set up carpet cleaning for me back in Oct, well here we are 2 months later, my carpets have not been cleaned yet, still have the musty odor and mold has regrew, and now I see mold in the other bedroom that I was sleeping in along with poor sealing around the windows so water is coming in and mold growing around it. I have plenty of pictures saved. The manager keeps saying yeah Ill get someone out tomorrow, which was soppose to be yesterday, but never believe what she says anymore, I have kids so this not safe for them to be breathing in mold. Another thing bad here is the cockroaches which they wont spray for and my new neighbors above me are heavy footers, walking around 2 AM etc! I cant wait to get the hell out of this place, fortunately I get to before my lease is up! For the high price you pay on the rent here, you would expect more and friendlier staff. Run, because they dont care about their tenants, just the money!!

You will not get your deposit back no matter how clean your apartment was left! I had the carpet cleaned walls were spotless no holes blinds were perfect and they still kept my deposit with no explanation behind it! The staff is very untrained to work in a leasing office. The hallway doors open and shut all day because they are not put on correctly. There is trash in the staircase that stays there for weeks which causes animals! Yea the apartments look nice until you move in.

Living here has been the worst year of my life yes the apartments are nice but the outside just isn’t there’s no security cameras on the outside so you’ve been warned. We’ve had our cars broken into, my husbands bike got stolen a little over a week ago, someone’s tried to break into our house, there’s been gunshots down the street, and this isn’t to bad but sirens go off every hour. But it’s just not a safe place to live and if your already living here please keep your stuff locked up or buy a tracker just something so your stuff will be safe and always lock your doors I can’t stress that enough. Yes the apartments are great and nice but it’s not worth it with the neighborhood.

I have lived in worst looking apartments then this place and had way better service ! Hands down worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. The staff is horrible dont help with anything they just go around every question you have. Also to pay rent they make it impossible to do that on time when the app they want you to use wont tell your actual amount. My wife and I got charged a late fee and other charges for being a day late on rent. Which we have never done before. My advice is to stay far away from this place. Im currently looking to move some where else.

Do not move in here!! Every time we left our apartment to go home we would come home to new mold spots and dead/ alive cockroaches everywhere. Dog park is infested with fleas we never had a problem with our dogs having fleas until we moved in here. Staff is very unprofessional and obviously don’t know what the heck they are doing.

The management is very good, and when I need help they always help me find a great solution, this is truly a great place to live at and I think every worker here needs a pay raise. This is a safe place to live at.

These apartment were roach infested! Everytime I walked outside I would see a roach near the stairs or crawling up the side of the building. Walls are paper thin. I could here my next door neighbors all the time. The man would be the one always yelling aggressively at his kids and wife. It was horrible. Doors wouldnt close completely. The outer most doors werent installed correctly so they scraped the bottom when trying to close it. However the woman who works in the desk that you can see at the office was always nice and helpful. Maintenance guys also were polite.

I gave this place one star because it’s poorly put together everything keeps falling apart there are roaches, beetles and silver fish in the apartments and out of them. walls are very thin you can hear people talking and dogs barking also there are birds that keep getting stuck in our vents and they won’t do anything to fix the situation they just said it happens. happened twice this year also doors don’t close all the way and hot water doesn’t last long I say 5 minutes and they can’t fix that also the floor is not level

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!If I could rate 0 stars I would.I will start by saying the first 6 months I lived here were great! It was under different management and they were awesome!! The leasing agents were super nice and maintenance were always super helpful!! I could call about a problem and they would be at my door in less than 10 mins. The grounds were kept up and walking around the complex was always nice! I never saw a single bug.THEN, management changed and living here literally turned into hell. Two of the most unprofessional, rude, and just downright horrible people took over in the office. The maintenance people were awful, it took days for someone to come look at any problems. They came to patch a hole in the wall, said they would come back to sand and paint, and they never did. It was like that literally the day I moved out. They came into my house at 8am, WHILE I WAS ASLEEP, to do an “inspection”, the apartment was INFESTED with roaches all the time, probably because the doors didn’t line up and you could see sunlight through them, and when maintenance was asked about it, they said it was just the way they were. Even though pest control was included in rent. I told them over and over and they said they would “put me on the list for pest control” even though I paid every month for it!! The lights on the stairs and in the parking lot were ALWAYS out. The grass was never mowed and the doggie station was always out of bags and the trash was always full of dog poop. Plus no one ever picked up after their dogs. I called corporate several times because they never answered the phone and when I walked in they asked if “I was the one who called corporate on them” Yes I did and maybe I wouldn’t have to if they did their job!! It seems like i’m rambling but i’m just trying to name everything that happened to me in just 6 months of living under that management. I waited for the day my lease was up and I couldn’t wait to leave!! Not to mention the rent is wayyyyy to high for what they offer. The apartment is not that nice, the appliances are old, the pool was closed pretty much all summer and the most of the equipment in the gym was broken. After hurricane florence, there were lots of damages to the outside of the apartment and they never once called to ask about it or do anything about it.You could not pay me enough to live in this place again.It really sucks because this was the first apartment I ever lived in on my own, my husband and I were so excited to move in because it looks so great online!DO NOT LIVE HERE!!

I have lived here with my husband and 5 mo.old yellow lab for 4 months and we have no complaints. Safe location, great staff, friendly neighbors, all the amenities you could ask for.

DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. If zero stars was an option that is what this place is. In the event of Hurricane Florence our 2nd story apartment received water damage. The complex management doesn’t care. They don’t care about anything. Mold grew in the apartment and all they did was paint over it. It continues to grow. Because nothing was actually fixed. I can’t even imagine what the inside of the walls looks like if mold keeps growing through. And there is no way an inspector would pass this building because of it. It’s disgusting. In the lease YOU SHOULDN’T SIGN, there is a statement about how they are not responsible for anything to include the apartment or the mold growing or the walls damaged by the water. Renters beware there’s plenty of other apartments. Do not rent from Charleston Place or Southwood Realty. They are scum just like the scum that keeps continuing to grow.

The manager turned into a unapologetic and rude individual when I didnt have to see her around. Cleaned the house, top to bottom with about 4 hits on the entire house. Waiting for the remainder of our security deposit and we have to PAY THEM! policies that were NEVER discussed all of a sudden pops up, and an issue thats being blamed on their system. Glad to have finished the lease and move to something bigger and BETTER for the same amount I was paying there. Area wise it was nice to have the park for walks and exercise but there were always sirens going from the police and ambulances passing by at night. the fitness center gym has old and rusted equipment and is very small. Would NOT recommend.

Lived there sept 2012-jan 2013. When you break the lease due to work relocation they charge you till they rent it so they charged me on more month minus my deposit which was 200.Pros: Very friendly staff. 800 price for 1050 sq ft, thats a good deal in my book.Beautiful apartment, spacious kitchen, a lot of cabinet and counter space.Clean and neat place, NO bugs or roaches - didnt see a single one.I was on the second floor, corner and my electrical bill during winter was 48 bux only. Quiet air conditioning, good insulation. The apt got warm easily and I never felt cold.Never heard my neighbors upstairs walk or any noise from them. Never heard any noise from the ones next to me either.A lot of storage space in the balcony, big closet in the living room and huge walk in closet.Large bathrooms, huge countertop - double sinks.Quiet area close to everything.Cons: the second bedroom is very small maybe for a kid/baby.The walk in closet is not convenient there.its bathroom tub always had a bad smell - sewage problem? I never used it for that matter.Also the neighbors downstairs had a baby and it woke me up every night at 4am crying till 6-7am. And i could hear his dad yell shut up. That part was horrible.pool is tiny for my taste.parking sucks. There were times I couldnt park in front of my apt.

Walls are paper thin, neighbors are super nosey (try to get in your business or get you in trouble), they fine you for the littlest stupid things... but the neighborhood is awesome great place to take a walk and i love how close you are to everything (stores, gas station, restaurants ect.) very convenient place to live. Neighbors are very friendly and try to be your friend but just some of them are nosey. I cant complain to much 950 ( all incuded) for a spacious 2 bed 2 bath with washer and dryer and NO BUG INFESTATION!!! they spray every month! And they are very good about coming to your apt to fix something right away!

Worst experience ever. Weird smells, thin walls (you can hear people talking in your bedroom) and they towed my car when they paved the parking lot (I was away from for a week and had no idea) and I had to foot the bill.

Great beautiful master bathroom.But horrible when it comes down to calling maintenence and the rent office lady.Favortism is shown towards some tenants.

IF I COULD HAVE GIVEN THIS PLACE ZERO STARS I WOULD HAVE. I would like to take this time to let everyone thinking about living at this place how much of a displeasure it was. Ill start off with the day me and my wife moved in. The carpets were dirty and matted down and the counter tops had dark brown stains on them. My wife managed to get the stains off the counter tops but the carpets didnt get cleaned until we had water damage from a rainstorm. The walls are extremely thin, I could here my neighbors conversations and their baby crying all the time. Our fridge stopped working and was leaking for almost two weeks before we got a new one put in and we informed the maintenance guy about the water damage. Now that we have moved out they are saying the water damage is not from the refrigerator and is our fault. So they are charging us over $600 for the repairs. This is ridiculous and I would not recommend anyone rent from this place. Unfortunately my wife and I made the mistake of choosing the first place we looked at.
