Been trying to get into Mon. Wed. Fri. Water classes at the YMCA! Reservations so hard to make. I love the Sauna there. Open up them dates for the afternoon classes. .
The individual who claims to director of the wellness center is rude and hateful to most other people. Not only has she offended me by her hateful attitude but she has also cut down employees in front of members. This individual needs a new job. Christians are not supposed to behave in that manner.
Great environment. The staff is friendly and helpful. Amber is a lovely person who coaches girls basketball, and she a director who can help with almost anything. Coach Greg is the boys team coach and good with my son and the rest of the guys on the team.
Loved my time there but when I went inside to cancel (strictly because I was moving out of state), I was told I had to call. So I called. I was told I had to come inside and sign paperwork, or email (which no one has responded to yet). Minor inconvenience so far but come on, people.Front desk staff wasn’t super friendly most of the time, and some of them didn’t even bother actually asking the COVID screening questions. They either ignored it completely or just pointed at the sign.
Highly recommend. Usually not too crowded. Has a lot of classes and a good sized workoit area. Pool is also pretty great. Staf has always been friendly with me.
Average ymca weight area was extremely small compared to other ymcas i have been to.
Very clean, non-judgmental, my toddlers and wife love it here!
I always have a great time I just cant seem to stay more than an hour due to my schedule. You got to hate that. The people there are very friendly and always willing to help. Ive been coming there since 1995.
I absolutely love the ft ben Y. The atmosphere and people are amazing. I started going a year ago in March as a complete beginner and have always felt very comfortable working out there. I joined SGT and started doing the body pump classes this year and the experience has been great. I also have 4 children and I love all the people at play and learn. They do so much more than just babysit. My kids love going. I am moving away at the end of the month and going to the Y will be the thing I miss most.
Dedicated to keeping everyone safe during the Covid-19 Pandemic
The staff are always friendly. The instructors are top notch and motivate me to keep coming back. They have done a fantastic job ensuring safety during Covid 19. I appreciate my YMCA family :). Thank you for all that you do !
Just visited the pool area. Clean, spacious and attractive. Attentive and active lifeguards
I went to see if I wanted too renew my membership, I do they are taking a lot of precautions I would like for everyone to take a temperature check and were mask not only for their sake but mine to thats just being responsible for life
The atmosphere is welcoming. Youre always greeted with a smile and a sincere willingness to help. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It offers a variety of activities for all ages.
I signed up for the Y to attend affordable yoga classes because $40/month for gym and class access is more affordable than yoga studios in the area charging $60-80/month. However most gyms in the area are only $30/month and when I asked what made the Y worth paying more, the staff directed me to scholarship options (that unfortunately I dont qualify for) instead of answering my question. Its great that the scholarship option is there, but Id feel better about how my money was being spent if Id gotten a real answer to that question. My rating would be dislike due to price and service if it werent for how well the yoga classes have been going.
BEST PLACE EVER I had so much fun year round definitely recommend for family fun, working out, swimming and MUCH MUCH more I love the ymca❤️
Rules compromise breathing which is essential to human life and makes physical activities very difficult
Over all pretty good. good facilities. Usually fairly busy. I always try to go outside of the child care hours, its a lot quieter and easier to get on the equipment. Communication is poor. If you need to speak to someone specific they prefer to call or message even if that person is in the building.
Spent the afternoon at the outdoor pool. Was very relaxing.
Friendly staff, considerate members, very clean and very well- maintained equipment. Additional hygiene measures in place now so a great place to work out in comfort.
Staff is always there to assist and cheer you up with a greeting when you enter. The adult womens locker room is always clean and well maintained. The family girls room is chaotic however. All the gym equipment is fully functional and clean. The recreational pool is always kept warm and clean which is great for people doing aqua rehabilitation or physical therapy. Lap pool is significantly cooler and fluctuates in temperature but is definitely fine for someone swimming laps. Multiple lifeguards are on duty at a time and they are always very attentive. They offer daycare, older children a place to be watched and a new preschool. In the summer the outdoor pool is kept clean and the slide is usually running. They have adult only times in the outdoor pool as well so the adults can get some swim time in. Perfect place to go to workout or just swim if you live in the area.
Great place.
Love it here.
I want to see the gym three days ago and I still feel the burn I love it at Fort Benjamin Harris thats the YMCA I grew up on I love to space and I like how it was built everything is proportion if you ask me correctly and just right I had to get on them about their hygiene though how to clean the bathroom and stuff like that but other than that they good
Great place for a workout, also love the indoor and outdoor lap pool offerings.
Ive had only good experiences here. Everyone is always friendly to everyone. The facility is very clean and well managed.
Great and friendly atmosphere
The Fort Benjamin YMCA is an excellent facility. I have found the staff to be friendly, engaging and helpful. The facility itself is clean and well maintained, as is the exercise equipment. The pools are consistently clean and the water is always clear. One is warmer and one is cooler for the avid swimmers. During the summer months a third outdoor pool is available. The lifeguarding staff is competent and attentive to the activities in the pools. Members are from all age groups and cultures. There are quite a few retired members as well as military personnel from Fort Ben. I have met college students, retirees, doctors, lawyers, and people from all walks of life at this facility. I am shocked and dismayed that one reviewer (Vincent) described the facility as ghetto. Perhaps Vincent considers himself to be too good for the rest of us. I, for one, appreciate the YMCA staff and enjoy the diversity and friendliness of my fellow YMCA members. I consider myself fortunate to have such an exceptional facility close to my home.
The best equipment in the city. Towels are provided. Staff is always great.
Absolutely love the hip hop cycling class with Kamara. Very energetic funny and motivating.
We love it here. Its always clean and the staff are so very friendly. The play and learn staff are really great with the kids. They all make us feel like we belong unlike other gyms.
Great place to work out, take the kids to swim, and participate in various classes or activities.
Wonderful staff, very patient and easy to talk to
Need updated Nd new equipment. Need new carpet.
Great family place to always go to exercise your whole self. Very neat environment. Super welcoming customer service and well maintained equipments and pools.
Love love love going here. Just started this month and love the pool options. Best lap pool and classes I have ever seen at a Y. My husband does some of the other classes and has fun with them as well. The staff is very helpful.
Great gym very clean and spaced safely
Great place for children and adults. The staff here are amazing they go above and beyond for their customers. I love this place with all thats in me and more, they are very professional and kind.
Great indoor pool. It has all kinds of water features and play equipment for the kids. I cant speak for the rest of the facility, but the pool is nice. The unfortunate part of having a nice pool is that it is crazy busy all the time. Expect a crowd if going in the evening.
Always very clean facility, staff very friendly and knowledgeable about any question u may have.
Great pool (8 lanes wide), nice workout area. Free weight area is kind of small. Locker room is always FREEZING! Great if you are coming from a land based exercises class, but murder when you get out of the pool.
Great indoor pool for the kids. Plenty of locker room and plenty of parking. Kids area is neat.
Its the perfect place to workout. They have convenient lockers for your stuff that do not require a lock, excellent classes in a wide variety of exercise methods, and very friendly staff. I actually look forward to working out there.
The life guards in the pool area are racist and rude. They constantly harassing my family and I when we come to swim in the pool area, but they have never said anything to the whites that are here. They tell us we can swim in a certain part of the pool even if they aren’t any swim lesson or other activities accruing in the section if the pool. They tone they use when speaking to us is very mean!! I would not recommend coming here if you are black because they will give you problems. This pool area just doesn’t deserve a star at all.
Have a great time working out. Zumba and Water aerobics.
Love the childcare love the gym and the classes. Love the facility love the pool for the toddler. If I have to say something if have to say something bad they just need more open swim time
Get yo work on / Level up😊
Were long time members. Its a good place; nice pools, exercise rooms, etc. Programs are pretty good.Like any ymca there seems to be turn over of staff, which generates occasional unpredictability of service. However, in our experience it has almost always been good, and there are several long time staff members who are reliable and nice to work with. Seems to be clean and well taken care of.
Great location and fantastic facility!! Love winter workouts here!!
Pretty good good for little kids big pool
It was fun!
It is close by and I love the water aerobics and aqua Zumba classes.
Its cool. People look at you sometimes but that normal since their resting or tires of an exercise. However a staff member should not be looking at me for more than 3seconds. As it makes me feel like their criticizing and feel uncomfortable. They should know that.
Meets my needs, nice people at the front desk, and plenty of treadmills. Needs some updating, more equipment is needed in the functional fitness area, and a hot tub would be nice.
I really love the YMCA for my workout
The staff is friendly and the locker room is maintained . I have physical therapy at the location in their pool. The water is very warm so its easy to stretch and work out.
I like Ben Harrison. I go to events there with my little guy. The facility dies not have the same accommodations as some others, like a hot tub and steam room, but the pool is nice.
Oh, where do I begin? Lets start with front desk, some of the ladies there are super sweet and helpful. Two other ladies, not so much. Rude, disrespectful and could care less to help with your questions or concerns. I went to this location a few times before we decided to sign up our son for Summer Day Camp for 8 weeks. We figured its the YMCA and he will be very active in different sports and activities throughout the day. Geez was we wrong!! No one really knows for sure what goes on in the Day Camp at the front desk, they only guess which I later find out. First off, they stay outside all day on a asphalt pavement area with a fence around them. I believe at least 2 basket ball goals and one small covered area with picnic tables. Only shade they have. They have small tents that are never used outside the day camp area. We are all for kids to be outside and active by all means but over 100 kids in this mail area seemed not right. They tell you to pack 2 snacks, a water bottle and sunscreen per day. I have a 8 yr old who is very fair skinned and he needs sunscreen so he wont burn. I kept asking the routine on when the kids get sunscreen put on and I always got a bunch of different answers from all staff members. So I told them every morning that he needs to have this on cause he will burn. And every time I went and picked him up he said no one put it on. We had some other bumps in the road of rude Role Models they hire. Not interacting with kids ECT. The Role Models stand around within them selfs and not play with the kids. They was suppose to have all these activities planned but in one week he made a square cube out of paper, did a word search, they went swimming for 30 minutes and watched a movie on a rainy day. Thats it!! My son complained everyday that no one would do stuff with them. Yes, he had other kids to run around with but he was wanting to be challenged by the adults and learn things. Today, Friday on a hot sunny day I told the role models again he needs sunscreen. They said yes we will do this. Guess what?!?! My child was a red lobster!! Burnt! I go to the main office to find a manager, of course, everyone like oh whats wrong? Hello! Do you not see my sunburned child standing here! I finally see the manager over the day camp department. He a sweet man and understood all my problems. Unfortunately all he could say is that he tries to put trust into the role models but keep getting bad eggs who wont follow directions/rules. He a busy guy who has to deal with all the other parents and complaints. He said multiple parents have pulled their children out so far within a 3 week time frame. He said more than likely the problems wont change because he cant get good role models. Which I get, its hard to find good employees these days. BUT these are our children, not some merchandise on a shelf or a bad server at a restaurant. To end my long story, I did get a complete refund of everything I paid without a hassle. Which was nice but sad that my child and us as parents had to go through this experience. Sad, that apparently I wont be the last parents and children to go through this at this location. I give props to the manager to his best and make sure these kids stay active but in my opinion there needs to be a lot more work done. So, please stay clear of the day camp because the Role Models are far from it. There might be some there who do care but not that I saw. Hope this helps all parents.
3 pokestops and a Pokemon go gym for the win while getting exercise and swimming in :) !!
They need better hours. Pools are always closed for construction.
My favorite YMCA. It is near my home and I really use it. The staff is fantastic. Great job The YMCA. We are treated like family here.
Ben was not a good manager. he did not let me and my son into the ymca even tho i had a card and my 14 year old son didn’t have his card because he forgot his card. this isn’t the first time my son forgot his card but when he would he could get through because he was my son. but ben didn’t let us because he’s racist.
The place is lovely and you have a fun time with your friends
We live this Y. The building is older than some of the others in town, but the equipment is newer. The pools are great. The staff is the friendliest.
I will continue to go here because my husband enjoys it, but I have been very disappointed with this place over the years. Staff has been very disrespectful to me on several occasions. This location is clean and I like the way the gym is broken up. Weights then equipment followed by a little more private workout area. I would rate it a 4, but customer service is everything to me. The child watch is nice, the young ladies in there seem to be very loving. I dropped my baby off at 3 months old and they were all wanting to feed her. This location has and indoor pool with a small slide for children and a very nice outdoor pool with a large slide. Child watch, play room with internet and computers.
Water in shallow pool, nice n warm.
Tyler was one of the lifeguard staff and he was racist and awful he talked to kids any kind of way and was rude I think he deserves to be fired because of is rude ways he was a total racist to blacks and told kids to stop asking questions and he told kids they can’t take a swim test when there was a lady in front of him giving people a swim test. Tyler also yelled at a kid for asking another question to a life guard that he answered. The ymca needs to do a better job on people they hire because it seems like they hire anyone. I would recommend going to the downtown ymca because this one was terrible I would Not recommend going there
Outdoor and indoor pools are both nice. Since they added the splash pad indoors the pool seems smaller.
Really nice clean facility. The equipment was well maintained. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Great Y. No hot tubs...
Really nice YMCA. Clean, lots to do, and if you are an AARP health insurance member they offer a free membership. They have both an indoor and outdoor pool which is great for the summer.
Fun place to work out!!! Family friendly, cleanly, and motivating. There are plenty of free classes. I love this place!
The pool inside was very nice and out side pool looks even better but it was closed after labor day. Very nice YMCAI enjoyed the swim .thanks Steven shopnick.
Staff is friendly. Facilities seem to be always clean. A good mix of programs for individuals or groups
Pretty modern YMCA. Huge pool - good place to lap swim. New gym equipment.
Very clean, and great staff
Staff is always friendly, the equipment I prefer to work on is usually available. I can get done what I need to here 👌
Heated swimming pool; water yoga, lap lanes. Very clean facility and fresh clean towels.
Awesome place for me and my daughter. Love that they have activities for all ages.
This place is ok but not much for the kids to do unless the parent is going to be right there with them. They should get fitness programs for the kids to do while the parents take a class to make the membership a little more feasible.
Went to an event and the facility was nice and clean
My granddaughter goes to camp here. She has attended for at least three or four years and this is her definite go to place. She loves the counselors, the activities and the pool.
Kids enjoyed their karate & tumbling classes...just wish they had better deals for low-income families.
Great way to enjoy the heat of the day....dont forget a padlock for your locker & wear sunscreen for help in skincancer prevention...4real
Great pools, great people and the best kids track team in the state Im pretty sure.
My son is a swimmer so he had a pair of swimmer googles with him so he got approached by another swimmer saying the googles looked like a pair he lost so I told him they were my sons but he wasnt satisfied so he goes to the manager who 8 assumed was related to him so she comes out saying only swimmers wear those and to give them back because they were his so I felt highly offended because after I explained to her they belonged to us she said well only swimmers wear those and walked away without apologizing
Organized clean facility very nice people
Staff is amazing and love their community outreach!
Great family place. I love the pools always clean
I go 3x a week. Always courteous & friendly & beautiful smiles.
Çlean, people are nice and there is a year round pool!
AS A YOUNGER BOY I ENJOYED COMING TO THIS YMCA. I LEARNED HOW TO SWIM HERE. THIS PLACE IS FUN.
The most consistently unpleasant, unprofessional and rarely helpful staff I have ever come across at a YMCA. I come to work out daily due to proximity to my house and its actually comical the level of disinterest the desk staff has in even pretending to provide customer service. I have to imagine corporate / regional Management would be mortified to witness the lack of respect / disinterest for the paying customer.
Clean and looked like fun. Very kid-friendly.
Inside pool wonderful temperature is usually aound 80.
This Y is like family, everyone knows each other and the space is kept in great shape
Lovely people, amazing outdoor pool for the Summer, strong sense of community
Nice place to workout need to have a more open gym, better air flow.
Great place all around the world
Needs lots of updates. But nice outdoor pool.
