Everyone I delt with in renting a BMW G650GS were very friendly. My phone call was promptly returned and they were accommodating to my same day rental on a Tuesday. Sure, they werent set up at exactly the time the website says they open, but this is Hawaii, just relax a little and enjoy your time here. Once youre on a motorcycle youll be having a blast! I was a little nervous when the only helmet option was a half helmet, but I found that most of the roads outside of Honolulu have a speed limit of 35, so again relax and, enjoy the road. I did take a creative route back to Waikiki to avoid the main highways, but that was my personal preference and I felt safer that way. Enjoy your ride!

After shopping around I found the best deal at Big Kahuna...I checked out a 750 Shadow that was in great condition and was a real treat to ride. Regarding the service, it couldnt have been better. A screw got lodged in the back tire of the bike and Larry was kind enough to come out late one evening to pick us up and take us back and even offered us an upgrade on the bike :) Overall a great deal and experience. Highly recommended!

Bottom line up front is if you want to rent a nice Harley at a cheap price dont go here. It is cheap enough but the Road King we got was filthy, ran like crap, saddle bags locks were missing, and was afraid it wasnt going to start at times. They told us it just came out of the shop. If that was true then they need to find a new shop. It was obvious that this thing has been poorly maintained and was very beat up. I have rented bikes on almost every vacation my wife and I have been on that we couldnt take our own bike on and by far this was the worst. For the bike we got it was way overpriced. Save yourself some aggravation and go to one of the 4 Harley Dealers on the island. You might pay a bit more for rental but the rental you get wont be a piece of junk and it will be clean when you get it. We brought it back early because we just couldnt deal with riding around on a hunk of junk. Go to Diamond Head Harley Davidson or Cycle City at the Honolulu Airport. Dont waste your time with this place.

When I went in December 09 it was $150US/day for a Yamaha R6, including insurance and helmet. I cant say it was cheap, but it was a great way to see the island. Most riders here are servicemen, and youll ride past the base for certain as its on the ring road. Good group of guys. Id highly recommend this place for its selection of bikes. Like I said, it wasnt cheap, but that was my favourite day of my trip!

I rented a Yamaha V-Star from these folks while I was in Hawaii, wanting to ride the island. The shop is a bit off the main path, quite a walk from our Hotel, there were several other rental shops along the way.Prices were OK, but they are ultra sensitive about scratches on there bikes. I understand they rent large Harleys and BMWs, scratches are a big deal on those bikes. But this little v-star ...Also, it had 11,000 miles on it, I was rather surprised how good it looked for that many miles.

Should have gone with our gut and walked away the first time but we were referred to this shop by a friend. Red flag after red flag. We arrived late on a Saturday night to Oahu so Sunday morning we explored and looked up this shop. It said it was open on Sundays so we ventured out. We got to the address he claims to be located at and nothing. No sign, no store front, other shops nearby had no clue who he was or what we were talking about. A kind local knew who we were talking about and said he normally sets up on the sidewalk where we were. While searching, we tried calling him twice with no answer. We venture back on Monday against our better judgement and he was there set up on the sidewalk. It’s just a podium and wheels and an umbrella, no shop or anything. We asked what happened to yesterday and he acted like we should just know he wasn’t open Sundays (even though it says he is open on the website/google). We agreed to the 2 bikes and the pricing for renting this Thursday. He told us about the damage deposit etc, but his credit card machine wasn’t working so he asked for $1000 cash deposit on the bikes.... who knows if we would ever see that again...so he took an imprint of my husbands credit card. He then tells us, we will do paperwork Thursday when you get here and if you are going to cancel please let me know tomorrow because I am a small shop and then I can have a chance to rent it out again. We said of course and we understood and respected his request and we were on our way.Tuesday morning my husband decided he wanted to try a different bike at one of the other shops. He promptly called this shop to cancel just one bike and the shop owner went off about a cancellation fee in the contract but we didn’t sign a contract or even see one. This really upset my husband because he had followed the shop owners one request of calling to let him know if we needed to cancel. We had every intention of being respectful of his time and business. It became a heated argument and my husband hung up. The shop owner calls back not two minutes later claiming he thought we were someone else and apologized, but it’s a little too late because my husband is livid this is happening on our honeymoon and doesn’t want to talk to him and make the situation worse.I called back a few hours later to see where the reservation stood and hopefully diffuse the situation because we only wanted to cancel one bike not both, but the shop owner claims he had already rented all the bikes he had including the second one we wanted to rent. The shop owner started giving me a lecture about how my husband spoke to him which I don’t condone getting heated and angry, BUT you are in charge or you and he is in charge of himself. I am not in charge of my husbands behavior and that pissed me off even more. All in all, we should have listened to our guts and red flags....go somewhere else.

While visiting Honolulu I had the pleasure of renting a GS800 from Larry (the owner) at Big Kahuna Motorcycle Rentals, all I can say is WOW! Besides offering the best rental rates I could find in the area the service was fantastic! Larry brought me to the back lot and went over bike options with me and asked me some questions about what I ride back home and he suggested his 2012 BMW GS800. I cant say how happy I was with his suggestion, the bike was PERFECT! Larry then went the extra mile and made up a course around the island for me which was GREAT! Returning the bike was a breeze Larry did a quick once over on the bike and I was on my way, If your looking to rent a bike in honolulu look no further!!!

After renting a moped from them for only 4 hours @ $25, I returned it and it had a small scratch, not a half an inch long. They charged me $60 dollars for this scratch!! They never mentioned any of the fees for damage. They inspect it before and after, as if these things will never get scratched. This is how they make their money. I highly recommend going somewhere else. I had rented from Hawaiian Style 2 days before. The only reason I didnt go with them again was that Big Kahuna opened at 8am and Hawaiian Style didnt open until 8:30am. I should have waited. These guys are total ripoff artists looking to get your money any way they can!!

DID THE OWNER REALLY JUST TRY TO FIGHT ME?We rented two Harleys for a week from these guys. Larrys wife was nice enough when checking us out and giving us the bikes. We had a good time and the bikes were in decent order. The problem came when we tried to return the bikes a day early. We were staying on the North shore and wanted to avoid rain the following morning so we drove the bikes back the day before...seems harmless enough right?Well when we pulled up at 5:18 the shop was closed and locked up even though it said on the door they close at 5:30... I pull out my contract and it clearly says open 8:00 - 6:00, no returns after 5:30... so I call and leave a message saying were trying to return the bikes but no one was there. The owner (Larry) and his wife come out of the adjacent building. He comes up and asks for my paper work and asks me to read the return time they wrote on it. ...it says have the bike back by 8:30 AM the following day so read it out loud 8:30. He was visibly irritated and straight up rude and asks me what I dont understand about that ...I told him this was 8:30 the following day and we were bringing them back early and that shouldnt be a problem but he was clearly upset and muttered something that didnt make sense. Im not one to sit and be berated for something Im not at fault for so told him the contract stated their hours were 8-6 and asked him what he didnt understand about that. ...this really upset him, he turned very nasty and started yelling at me and said he had a crew and all 150 of them would make life uncomfortable for me. In the following argument he threatened to keep my deposit as well as charge me a late fee (Doesnt make much sense to me since we were back early)...and made several threats about his crew and how they would F-me up...it took five minutes to check the bikes in after he calmed down and he was free to go screw around with his friends after... Im sure he was just angry we interrupted his plans to go party for the night or something.Anyway... This is the first time Ive ever left a review much less a negative one but I felt this complete lack of professional conduct was worth sharing.Edit: Ten months later and Im going back to Hawaii for another ten day trip. I will be renting a bike for a week again and I wont be using these guys. I will rent from Chase this time. I used them the year before my bad experience with Larry and they were professional and courteous to work with. ...guess I learned my lesson the hard way.

Its no surprise, looking at the reviews in hindsight the more recent reviews are so bad. I was a 20 min late returning my 9-hour rental and got charged $25 for it. I had called and told them I was running late and was told it was fine as long as I got there soon. But when I got there, I was ambushed with this fee. At first they told me it was because I said I would be there in 5 min, when I reminded them I said 15 minutes, they then pulled another clause of the contract to say they could charge me for being late anyways. Why bother to call ahead and give a heads up if they were going to charge a fee anyways. Not to mention the horrible helmet they gave me and generally bad servicr all around. Avoid at all costs, chase rentals is right around the corner and its no surprise theyre so much larger and more successful.

STAY AWAY! Im the airline pilot that rented a previously dropped scooter and got blamed and charged $275 bucks for the broken muffler on my blank credit card statement. I will keep posting to warn poor customers..Dont trust the positive feedbacks here, in my opinion they are Larrys friends and not trustworthy. My airline trusts me to fly a 60 million airplane to Hawaii with 190 passengers, but Larry claims Im a liar. Hes a Joke!

Gary is a nice guy w/ a lot of excuses.I have been cycling for over 50 years & often cycled on vacay so I guess I should have read the warning signs better. I Rented 2 bikes. My rental was low on air -front tire. Gary disagreed saying he thought there was sufficient air. But when I asked for a pump, he said he did not have one! A bike rental place-no pump? He said it was brokenI asked for a flat kit, which has been in my experience pretty standard w/rental bikes. No flat kits or pickup if you have a flat.I asked why no flat kit? Excuse 1-Too expensive -but I never asked how much it would cost.Excuse 2-no place to store it. Hmmm-I believe most rentals keep the flat kits in the saddle bag. But these rentals dont have saddle bags! Excuse 3-Id have to charge you for the flat kit. OK- but at least give me the option to be charged. I guess this circles back to excuse 2.The helmets are optional but available. However, they are outdated i.e.over 3 years old- manufactures recommend replacement every 3 years especially if excessively exposed to the sun. They also already had some cracks in them.We told him we were cycling from Waikiki to Hanauma bay-but planned to bike to Sea life park to catch the bus back. This would be roughly 25miles. When we got back on our bikes at the bay my bike had a flat. We had to walk 2-3 miles to catch the bus as well as cut our ride short. When I returned the bike the next morning Gary said there was an extra charge of $15. Why -because in the small print in my contract.

DO NOT RENT!! Bottom line, they no longer have a storefront for a reason. Their bikes are not legal or registered. Some of them have been unregistered for 3-4 years, same with the safety inspection stickers. Bikes are beat up and old. Maintenance problems. Their insurance is a joke, renter is liable for everything. The $3500 deductible is more than the value of the bikes. Who knows if they even own the bikes. These could be stolen bikes, and I seriously doubt this husband/wife duo are operating legally anymore. Everything about this company is sketch. She showed up in a minivan, and claimed they normally set up on the sidewalk. I read other reviews that got the same BS line on a weekday when they werent set up. NOT LEGIT.

It was a shop where you could feel relieved with the kind Japanese female staff. I borrowed R6 for about 3 hours because I could make time for one person. 4 hours 100 dollars course. Although it was a former runner, the first hour was terrible, but I got used to riding H1 to the east and enjoyed a round trip to Hanauma. The road surface is not low, but it is dangerous to lay down on a sticky surface.Although it includes personal objective insurance, it seems that there is no vehicle insurance, and if it falls down, it is necessary to pay as requested by the dealer. In Japan, this class is a little scary because it costs around 80,000 new cowls on one side. If you havent taken any more than 400, you should be very careful.--Addition--I checked again yesterday, October 27, 2019, but it seemed to be closed.

Is this a store? The building mentioned in the image has now been destroyed, and I rented a bicycle in the building where the next bike is located. The receptionist seems to be doing a couple, the wife is Japanese and after the procedure, you can tell me the phone number, so it seems that you can also answer the phone. Even my husband, who was not good at English, was able to respond in broken Japanese!
