I made an appointment for my husband on Sunday because I saw the great reviews and Im so sad to say that this is the worst haircut I have ever seen. Its so miserable I think I could have done a better job. There are so many tiny long strands of hair in the front that I had to cut off.. and the back was completely uneven. They shaved the bottom bit and out of no where long hair sits on top of it. No gradual gradient whatsoever.. it was so sad that I had a great laugh about how bad it was. I mean whoever who did this must have never cut hair before and thats just sad that they do not have a basic standard at this salon.. I cant believe he paid for this to be honest.

I don’t know why is took me 4 years to finally try out Spesh, but I am glad I did. Place was great. Really cool vibe with good music. As a walk in I got 5 minute consultation on what kind of hair cut I wanted before we even started. Rebecca is awesome.

If you like to go at a fancy place but need just basic haircut and are willing to spend 2-3 times for the services then this is the place for you.I decided to spend more and not go with their basic haircut in the hope that more money means better barber who can recommend a good haircut. I grew my hair during covid making sure that I have enough hair for barber to work.All my barber did was to cut my hair as short as possible and set them with dryer and gel. In 3-4 days I could see how bad the hair cut was.My other regret is that I did tip 20%+. Frankly in hair salon business tip should be given on the subsequent visit.I will go back to JCP in Newport Mall. I know some really good stylists there.PS: answer to owner “who gets their hair cut in mall?”Those who believe that just because you have a mom and pop shop doesn’t mean you are good. It simply means you overcharge are not probably good. Otherwise you could afford a shop in mall (for your knowledge rents are higher in mall). Keep on ignoring customers review, be condescending - bad days could be ahead of you. Good luck!

I went based on a recommendation and honestly it was one of the worst decisions I’ve ever made. This is the first time I’ve ever left a poor review for a business because I feel like we are all human and things happen but I couldn’t let this one go! It is now several months after my visit there and I’m still trying to repair my hair. Not only did my color come out horrific and beyond fried but the cut was drastically uneven. For the poor quality services I received I was charged $500! I’m sure there men’s barber services are good but do not ever go here as a women.

It was not clear that you would still charge if I missed the appointment, I couldnt make it because of work and I wouldve called but they charged me the full price anyways. Make it more visible that this is the case

What can we say about Spesh? Was looking for a place that was safe, clean and LGBTQ friendly. Spesh did not disappoint. Rebecca is friendly, professional and took me as a walk in while I waited for my sons appointment. Paula did my sons hair and did an incredible job. They followed all safety protocols, even sanitizing the chairs before and after we used them. Thank you very much Spesh for making us feel welcome and doing such a terrific job. You will see us again.

A local barber recommended speak as I was looking to make a dramatic change to my long hair. I visited Splesh Friday morning and booked an appointment for later the same day. My stylist would be Nancy. I arrived on time and was in the chair within 7 minutes. I was scared to make this change to my hair, but Nancy assured me we would go slow. I couldn’t have been happier with my results. Navy rocked my hair, gave me suggestions on managing it and gave me a cut that compliments my personality. Awesome service, awesome staff and great music. I’ll be back and have found my stylist!!

The best place in Hoboken to get a haircut for men! As soon as you walk in you can tell this is not your ordinary barbershop. The shop is extremely clean and has an awesome ambiance. The receptionist attends to you right away and always offers a drink. Ive been a customer with Steven for over a year and will never go anywhere else. His precision and style is exactly what you are looking for if you want a top quality cut and style. Highly recommend!

Great guys, very clean place and tools, clean it up after every client, that is great. Good style and attention to details. They do have appointments, a plus for busy people. A bit expensive tho.

I have been to Spesh 5-6 times since moving to Hoboken. The service has been great during each visit and a cut was $45 plus tip ( not inexpensive but good quality). Unfortunately, when going to book my next appointment I realized they increased their prices significantly. Now a haircut with tip is in the $75 range. I’m fine paying more for better quality, but within reason. I will be looking for a new spot to go now.

He has numerous years of experience and knows what type of hair goes well with every individual. Now I wouldnt rely on anybody else to cut my hair. I travel around 40 min to go to Spesh specifically for the music and the awesome talent. Today I had Paula and she was fantastic. Just a good soul and down to earth. She gave me a super clean cut. I got a little frazzled when she styled my hair because it’s not how I usually wear it, but when styled how I’m ‘used to’ it was a bang up job. I will be back and will keep using her for sure.

I love this place. The vibes are great. I love how clean it is and makes sense to charge a little more given the COVID-19 circumstances. Barbers take their time with the haircut and spend extra time sanitizing their instruments and stations before taking you in. Given the current state of the world I do appreciate a place that takes extra steps in cleanliness and safety measures. Everyone here is an expert, super friendly and knowledgeable in sanitation and cosmetology. Worth every penny.

I booked my appointment online through their website and was told to see Paula who is a beard expert.My appointment was for 3:30 and Paula had me in the chair and ready to go at 3:31, so already a great start with timing.Paula was absolutely fantastic, details and quick... but never rushed. She made sure everything was to my liking, and groomed my beard perfectly.The shop is clean, booking is easy & their location is even easier! The owner Steven is super cool and has been a Hoboken resident for quite some time.Highly recommend Spesh to anyone on the fence, and go see Paula for your beard trim/clean up!

When traveling to Hoboken I decided to check out Spesh. I was incredibly impressed with the friendliness, cleanliness and service at Spesh Barbershop. Due to my facial features, a short hairstyle thats short on the back and the sides of the head as well as slightly long on the top is what best suits me. When explaining this to one of the stylists he told me that he knew exactly what I was looking for. It turned out great and the high school reunion I attended later that week was full of tons of positive compliments, most of which were about my hair! :-)

Good haircut. On the more expensive side. Bad customer service and cancellation policy. I booked an appointment less than 24 hours in advance and there was plenty of availability. I called a few hours before the appointment and told them I could not make it due to unforeseen circumstances. They charged me half the price of the expensive haircut for cancelling and told me it was due to taking up time that someone else could have reserved. Although there was plenty of availability on the schedule. Ive been here 5-10 times, but will not be going back.Edit: Owner acknowledges the cancellation policy is pretty whack and claims it is to protect staff from frequent no shows. If this was true then there would be a first or second time forgiveness clause which many other barbers offer, especially under special circumstances. It appears the policy is more to cater to greed than loyalty and an oh well attitude from the owner falls short of creating a welcome atmosphere.

Can’t get any better than the wizard of fades. Spesh is the best men’s salon in Hoboken. Awesome array of products, attention to detail and also a comfortable atmosphere. Traditional barbershop services along with exquisite styling. Be sure to check these guys out.

Spesh has sort of a barber shop feel to it - the decor is basic, though they have some nice art up. The clientele is gender-mixed, with more men than women, but nobody seems to be worried about it. They do beard care as well as hair cutting, for those who need that. I always feel welcomed, and I am an older, plump (white) woman who sometimes feels a little out of place in salons.

Ive have visited Several hair spots. While some are ok, ok really doesnt cut it. Im happy to have found this place (actually my wife told me about them, theyre on IG) Anyhow Jean Paul was excellent. I felt comfortable with him immediately. I showed him a picture of what I wanted and he executed the job top notch. While he was friendly and talkative at times he was quiet because he really was concentrating and focused. It seems many haircutrers have like one trick but JP has chops. thanks!
