I would not recommend moving to Heather Lake Apartments. They are very old and dated. Moisture damage very noticeable and concerning because it attracts roaches. I mean REAL roaches! The big rodeo horse track type joints!!! Very disgusting. Just moved in and lets just say... I am disappointed and had I known the TRUTH about this complex, which I believed was a good community, I would have moved somewhere else. The buildings are not cleaned or kept up daily weekly or monthly from what Ive seen. SMH It is such a beautiful area

I spoke with someone named shawna or savanna today she talks so fast and low when she answers the phone I guess so you don’t hear her name to put a review but I’ve been getting the run around I literally paid 50$ for an application I sent all the documents needed now she’s saying she doesn’t know etc acting nonchalant like I’m getting on her nerves trying to make sure nothing else is needed from me I literally sent paystubs and an offer letter etc and that’s not good enough for proof I sent a whole employment verification document and because she’s doesn’t want to do any work she’s obviously not following the directions on the document if everyone else is able to verify my employment thru it and I’m still waiting to hear anything I keep being told I will get a call back but I keep having to call it’s beyond unprofessional glad I did not move in before I figured out what ide be dealing with smh 🤦‍♀️

I have lived there since April of this year. This is the worst complex I have ever lived in. If I knew how bad their roach infestation was I would have run the other way. Their walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. They do not clean the hallways and do not fix anything they promise to fix. I am still waiting on a light in my dark hallway to my front door. I have not had routine treatments on the roaches that now my 1 year old has started catching and playing with as if they are pets. Not to mention how they charge a 4 bedroom a gas bill of 875 a year and everything except water heater and furnace are electric. I am looking to move as soon as my lease is up and will never recommend anyone renting from this complex. Not to mention one of the MAINTENANCE men was drinking a beer while riding in the golf cart during work ours.... poor business.

Had a great experience with the maintenance man he was a new gentileman by the name of Derek. He was very polite and you could tell that he loved his job..my ac went out on a very hot day on a weekend ; he drove from his home to my apartment with a smile on his face and said I apologize that your ac isnt working like it should be and I know how frustrating that must be but Im here to make sure its back cool for you . After he fixed my ac he came back to my apartment and asked me was I satified and did I have any questions . That was a first time in my renting experience that a employee actually gave me a quality check .. 2 thumbs up for Derek .

The icing on the cake here was not the regular car break ins (6 in 3 months) - Not counting the time all of my diesel was stolen out of the fuel tank - or constant water bugs coming out of the drain, but the fact that the apartment complex contracted a company out to come and tow vehicles. These troglodytes had my truck towed over an expired inspection, costing $130 to get it out of impound. Newsflash: Most people living here don’t have that kind of money to throw away. We have been quiet, respectful tenants for over 2 years now so I was furious when this happened. Why don’t you fix all of the bugs, maintenance problems, car break ins and regular criminal activity here (Last week - 3 regular, 4 undercover cop cars and a few dogs out at the complex) before having the audacity to tow the vehicle I pay for and drive every day over a $12 sticker? Someone should kick you in the teeth. The only remotely nice thing I can say is that the ladies in the office was always very nice.

Do not rent here. This place is an overpriced dump. I spend $952 a month for a 2br apartment with screwed up plumbing, piss poor insulation and appliances that dont even work most of the time. The icing on the cake was when the complex was sold to new property management and the tenants were not informed until after the fact. You pass by during the day and it looks like Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, but drive through on a Friday night and youre in the middle of a scene from Straight Outta Compton. Parents let their bratty kids run all over the place and damage everything because they rather lock their kids outside than actually be a parent. Save your money!!!Id also like to add that there has been numerous reports made on the discharging of fire arms on the property grounds. You can confirm this with the Hampton Police Department. If you have children, this is not the place to raise your family. Just being honest.

I lived there for 2 years, and if you have any respect for yourself, you will not move into this apartment complex. The Customer service is non-existent, the apartments are completely run down, my building constantly smelled of marijuana, there were gun shots constantly, my motorcycle was stolen twice, car was broken into, there was a neighbor that would smoke in the hallways, throw up in the hall way and not clean it up. When we alerted the office about this, literally nothing was done. Please, remember that you get what you pay for, and while the rent prices seem low, its because your quality of life will suffer in exchange. Pay a little bit more to stay in a much nicer place.

If there was a way to give this place no stars, I would. I havent even lived here a full month yet and Im already looking forward to when I can move out. First of all, the walls and floor are so thin. So thin in fact, that when people are in the hallways, their voices travel into my apartment like Im standing there having the conversation with them. One of the doors in my apartment is literally coming out of the wall. It is hanging on by 1 hinge. And I know they knew this before I moved in because as soon as I opened the door, it fell off the wall. I marked it on my move in checklist as something that was wrong and I also put in a service request to have this fixed. Do you think theyve been out to fix it yet? NO! They dont even answer the phone when I call. I could call every hour, on the hour everyday for a week and never get my calls answered. The screen door to my patio has never worked. It just lays there against the door, completely unable to go back on the tracks. I cant even open my patio door to just let in some fresh air without worrying about bugs flying in because I dont have a screen. Not that I would want to open my patio door, because most days, there are people in the parking lot with their music bass blaring so loud that my floors and walls shake. After speaking with other neighbors, Ive learned this is completely normal for them and they cant do anything about it because any noise complaints made to the front office go unanswered BECAUSE THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE!!I should have know this was a horrible place to live when they didnt even offer to show me the apartment when I first came to the office. And when I asked to look at it, she just handed me the keys and sent me on my way. She didnt take my I.D like their policy states. She didnt offer to show me around the property. I dont even know where the damn dog park is because I was never given a tour of the place. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you look into a different community. The only bright side of living in this apartment is that it literally takes me 2 minutes to get to work since I work on base. But I would gladly live farther away to get away from this monstrosity of a community. COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE!

I do not want to give this apartment complex any stars because it is horrible. There are dogs that are never on a leash that charge at others who are out walking dogs, There is always a weed smell coming through my vents and in my building, and the kitchen light fixture fell out of the ceiling and busted on the floor as my daughter was in the kitchen cooking. I can not believe that the management company does not keep up the maintenance and there is no one to contact for emergency maintenance.

The only thing my husband and I like about these apartments is the space. There is one lady in the office that is very nice but another lady that has Ive had to deal with since I moved in makes me feel like I inconvenience her. When we first moved in we paid everything we needed to. When second months rent was due we owed an extra 115 or so. The office lady said that one of our payments didnt go through but when we looked in our account the payment had came out and was never cancelled or returned to our account. We even called the bank and verified that the payment came out. They said they would contact their financial management and get back to us... but never did. We ended up just paying it so we didnt have to deal with them. Then I went to pay half my rent today and I have another charge of 113... I have tried to contact the office numerous times but it always seems difficult to talk to anyone!!!!!Also, we just got a notice saying that we violated our lease for having bikes on our porch. I dont like the way they work things in their notices because it makes it seem like youre a horrible person. Anyway, I dont understand if they dont provide a storage room outside why in the world would we not be able to have BIKES on our porch?!We will not be renewing our lease here. I have lived in two other apartments in Hampton and this is by far the worst experience Ive had.

If I could rate this a zero I would. we have requested work orders many of times and no one shows up. they have tried to play us on our money (claiming we owe more than we do) they have given us many of different amounts due. we pay for pest control but have to put a work ordr in for them to spray. the front office has basically said they do not have enough people for maintiance or pest control so they do what they can, but we are paying for it to be done though right? the front office ladies are rude and never and we the phone. and the neighbors have asked us for cocaine, someone just vandalized my car today. THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!

We have lived here for over a year. We have had our fair share of issues (giant water bugs/roaches, brand new carpet coming apart, a/c going out in summer that took days to fix properly, the upstairs toilet that cant be properly mounted bc the bracket that has been broken since we moved in...they tighten it and it comes loose...I was told there wasnt a permanent fix so we deal with it instead of them replacing it, and most frustrating is the constant texts about unpaid rent or existing balances owed)I have tried for two days to reach Janie in the office bc the other people in the office arent able to explain to me how I owe a balance when we took the paperwork they provided to the housing office on post and they automatically send the full payment over each month. How can we possibly owe a balance if the full payment is pulled out as an allotment that we never see?!I will say the maintenance has been taken care of for the most part with the exception of the upstairs toilet and the shower turning on when you try to run a bath and they do spray for bugs regularly after I asked multiple times to be kept on the schedule.I just dont understand how there can be so many issues in billing and why it is impossible to get someone on the phone to fix the issue.Honestly if I didnt have pets we would not be living here. Its ridiculous that someone that causes zero issues for their neighbors, pays their rent on time with an automatic payment and doesnt complain about the marijuana smell and loud people yelling in the parking lots at night can have so many issues just getting someone to fix a billing issue that has NOTHING to do with us not paying what we owe.

Do not move into this property! Unless it’s going to be temporary placement. Find other avenues. In the 2 years I spent at this complex there were multiple issues including the disrespectful staff members in the leasing office, constant leaks, and their never ending scam to squeeze more money out of their residents. I lived in two different units and not by choice. My first unit had a God awful leak and they sent out shotty contractors to “fix” the issue and upon “completion” they left blood, dirt, cement, dirty hand prints, and used sharp tools in the room where the leak was being worked on as well as in the main hallway. I took photos and went to the leasing office to inform them of the horrible condition that was left and they sent a regular maintenance worker to clean it up. Then no more than a few days later the leak returned. At this point I was livid and requested to be moved to another unit because of the horrendous condition my apartment was in. They granted that request only after threatening to call city code compliance. Then they had the audacity to charge me for cleaning upon moving to a unit directly upstairs from my previous unit and for repainting the walls even tho it was an emergency move. Fast forward to my new unit which wasn’t cleaned properly upon moving in as far bathrooms are concerned. It has old tile and grout that should have been replaced because no matter how much you clean, it always appeared dingy. I again had to deal with roof leaks, broken AC units, bugs from neighbors leaving their garbage bags in the hallway, etc. After leaving the apartment (FINALLY) I cleaned the apartment from top to bottom including the base boards, I was only expecting to be charged for the drip pans and possibly the oven. They’re attempting to charge me not only my deposit but an additional fee. I called because I left in September and had heard nothing from them. They claimed my letter was sent out 10/13/2018 as of 11/27/2018 I’ve yet to receive a letter. I asked was it sent via certified mail to ensure delivery, I was told no. I was a bit taken aback by the charges and my tone wasn’t leveled because I was obviously disgruntled. My aggression however was in tone because of the circumstances not because of the person who was assisting me. The woman over the phone chose to call out that I was upset with her and taking it out on her and “she didn’t do it”. As a professional in customer service, even if I was upset “with her” her sole job is to deescalate by repeating the problem being told to her by myself, express empathy, and reassure that she’s doing all she can from her end. If at that point those things don’t work then it’s up to her to redirect me to a party that can better assist or assess the issue at hand. Instead she became combative, accusatory and started to play victim as if I was threatening her. I’ve never in my life has such a poor display of customer service; not even at a fast food chain. Her only solution was that the head property manager was on vacation and that I can deal with her. She repeated that in an irate tone while I was still trying to speak. I asked for her name to report her behavior to cooperate. She nastily gave it to me (Carolyn Hemmingway) and then hung up the phone. I’m very self aware of myself and at any point I would have apologized to her without prompt. Even if she had just said “excuse me ma’am I know you’re upset and I can understand your concern, however your tone is causing me to feel attacked. Can we please redirect calmly to resolve this matter?” I would have immediately apologized and we could have probably come to an impasse. However she chose the later and now I’m still trying to contact coperate. This complex is horrendous.I encourage anyone thinking about moving here to have a little more faith and keep searching to find better avenues of abodes.

I moved into Heather Lake almost a year ago. I will NOT be renewing my lease agreement. There have been so many issues, Ill just briefly describe the biggest ones.1: Roaches. I have literally woken up to a waterbug on my arm. And for those who dont know what a water bug is, its a cockroach that can fly. I bought my own roach spray and although I still find them in my apartment, at least they are dead.2. The main office. There are three main women that work in there, and two of them are absolutely fantastic. Cordial. Friendly. And they look at for you, as a renter. However, there is one who is absolutely rough to deal with. Unfortunately, I believe she is in a senior role, so often times you get to deal with her.3. Money issues. When I first moved in, I had to pay a 300 dollar pet deposit for my dog. This was prorated over two months, as I put a hundred down when I moved in. Months and months later? I was told I never paid the pet deposit. When I questioned this, and refused to pay, I never heard anything back. Later I was told they realized their error. Another time I switched to bi-weekly payments. It cost me 50 extra a month, but it was easier to maintain than coming up with a lump sum every month. This allowed me to pay in two installments AFTER the due date. Then one day I received a notice on my door, saying that the new company would not honor the bi weekly program and that I had a handful of days to come up with what was back due, and the full months rent for the next month. (please also note that during this time they also told me that the amount owed was much higher than it should have been because they had my base rent at a much higher rate for no reason). I paid what was due, which was a gigantic financial hardship. And then, when I went to pay my next months rent? It said I owed 25 dollars. At this point, I was so tired of the office, I simply paid it. Until the next months rent was due and it said I owed 25 dollars. This time I asked the office what was up and they said that these were fees for being a part of the bi weekly program, which I was no longer a part of, and which no longer existed.I dont want to say they embezzle money... but the money goes someplace it doesnt belong. Also, if you read all of this, please note they owe me 25 dollars.Save your money and rent someplace with more credibility.**UPDATE**I finally moved out! I had the carpets professionally cleaned before I moved and cleaned the place top to bottom. It was in better condition when I left than when I moved in! Heres what happened next:I got a list of charges. They charged because they cleaned the carpets, even though they knew they were already done. They charged me for the stove drip pans to be replaced, even though this falls under the basic wear and tear statute. They charged me a $47 Auto Fee which just sounds like theyre stealing. They also charged me a back balance of $185 for rent, even though my rent was PAID. I ended up, after they took my deposit, owing $200+!!! I have proof of the carpet cleaning, I have the statute for wear and tear, I have the email verification that my rent was paid. They also owed me $25 for stealing my money earlier in my lease, which I was told would be removed from the final rent (and never was!) By my calculations, they actually owe me $180 or so.Ive been conferencing with a Lawyer over this. The company is absolutely illegal. I will not pay what is owed because I dont owe a damn thing. Next step is to file suit. I advise anybody else who has problems to do the same. Dont let them win.

I lived in this complex for three years, and have alot of experience with this place, so please read my full review as I include both the positive and negative of this place and hopefully some information that can help you out before/while you stay there. **DISCLAIMER** We left a few months after the complex was bought by another company. So most of these incidents occurred before they were bought out. We did not receive any help or resolution from the new owners either though, which I believe at the point of ownership was their responsibility to take care of.**I lived first in a two bedroom unit upstairs. When we moved in it was awesome, the apartment was in GREAT condition, carpet nice, all the appliances were well kept and running well. I will tell you, all of the doors open up to the hallway, and with the loud ass doors in there you will hear everytime someone comes in the building, stairs, and the occasional unwelcome hanging out in the hallway to smoke when its cold outside. We had minor service requests, and although maintenance is a little delayed our problems were still resolved. J.R. is the best!! Two years later we were looking on downsizing within the apartment community since we didnt need the extra space at the time We were still charged a relocation fee, which I didnt agree with but it was cheaper than paying the increased rent for the two bedroom. The apartment was not in as good condition. Stained carpet, chipped counters, damage floors. The front door was bowed from someone trying to kick it in I guess, you could SEE the hallway. We had to escalate through 4 maintenance men and wait 6 months for a replacement door. Then Summer started..we encountered our worst nightmare. The A/C was NONEXISTENT. It actually made the house WORSE when we turned it on. Well, after many service ATTEMPTS, we called codes and compliances. They lit a fire under the complexs ass, and they did make more effort to fix it. But they didnt. By around August, we bought a $125 window unit out of pocket and was able to cool off the WHOLE apartment with ease. By August, they admitted they didnt know what was wrong with the unit and agreed to replace it....NEXT SPRING. Our power bills for 900Sq.Ft. were $250, $250, $300.We also attempted to get reimbursement for our power bill, since they admitted it wasnt working. WHICH YOU ARE ALLOWED TO DO, DONT LET THEM TELL YOU THAT YOU DONT HAVE RIGHTS. We requested half of it reimbursed, they countered with a $100 Gift card. My poor boyfriend was so frustrated at this point, he never called back in fear that he would verbally assault someone, if you know what I mean....We left, cleaning the apartment and getting the carpet cleaned professionally, just as instructed. The same cleaning that was sufficient enough to not require them taking any money out of our deposit for the 2 bedroom we stayed in before. We received HALF of our deposit back. We were so frustrated at that point, and exhausted of fighting..we just gave thanks that we were out of the god-forsaken place. There was a robbery/break-in at the complex. We received an email several days LATER warning us to Be attentive and vigilant. Also received an email stating we were violating the complex guidelines for balcony rules (such as no hanging objects, clutter, trash, etc.) We had two camping chairs and a cooler as a table. Emailed back and never received a response. The lady in the office that everybody keeps talking about is rude, is very true. So rude, she has had renters try to swing on her. Not that that is ever okay, but I can empathize with their frustrations. Another neighbor had specks of stuff coming out of her faucets. She requested to have the water tested. The complex is only allowed to test tho, not her. They said they didnt find anything in the water, but she found a loophole.Got her sons levels tested (it was Mercury or something), they found it. Shortly after she fought an eviction notice. Won it, but they wouldnt do anything about the water and never did.
