Moved into DP&L about a year and half ago. Absolutely loved this place. Had to break my lease early bc of a job move and am sad to have to leave. Jennifer and the whole staff is amazing. If I ever find myself back in Dallas I’ll be sure to move back. 100% recommend.

Lang & Witchell Architects, 1931, Also known as: Texas Utilities (TXU), This Art Deco American Style eighteen-story building, built by Gardner & Howe Engineers and CL Shaw & Co., was the first electrically welded building west of the Mississippi. It has a black marble base, with brick and terra cotta trim for rest of the façade. It served as home to the Dallas Power & Light Company, later Texas Utilities (TXU). In 1980, DP&L bought the neighboring Continental Supply Co. Building at 1512 Commerce, which was built in 1903. This building was later home to Texaco Oil Co. The buildings emptied when the utility, now TXU, moved to new offices.Dallas Power and Light Building is a City of Dallas Landmark.

I really like living here and the leasing office staff and maintenance are amazing (shout out Curtis and Jennifer!). This is an old building so be sure you realize that before moving in. I had some leaking issues but were immediately fixed by maintenance. You are so close to excellent restaurants, shopping and parks.I would not move here if you have any physical ailments that prevent you from climbing up 14 flights of stairs. The elevators are frequently under maintenance (I blame ThyssenKrupp). One has been down for months and when the other decides to quit working you climb up a poorly lit stair well. So not handicap friendly by any means. Also no A/C in the gym even though they have a huge duct spanning the length of the gym and is an amenity residents presumably pay for.

I have been looking for an apartment downtown for over a month now. Jennifer at the leasing office has been an absolute treasure to work with. Yes, the office is very busy during the day but Jennifer went above and beyond to assist me while also assisting residents with what they needed. Jennifer was able to show me the building and I completely fell in love. My experience so far with DP&L has been unlike anything else downtown. Thank you Jennifer!

I highly recommend DP&L to anyone looking for a great home and awesome service. Ask for Deserraie when you go to the office. She offers the highest level of service and truly cares about the residents and potential residents. I normally will NOT write reviews, but she has offered me such great service to the point I am blown away. Deserraie really showed she was concerned about what would make me happy as a potential resident and made sure she gave me a variety of options. She is very selfless and will spend the time to get it right the first time which is rare. You can tell the staff at DP&L really loves their jobs and it translates with how they treat the residents and potential residents. The location of DP&L is awesome, and the residents and staff are great. Give them a chance TRUST ME you owe it to yourself to receive the 5-star service I have. Good Luck and see you soon neighbors!

Do not live here if you can live anywhere else I would recommend it. The turnover in the office is insane. Nobody knows what they are doing. They cant communicate they never answer their phones and rarely answer emails. There is a roach infestation and rats dying in the air vents. Electrical bills are ridiculous. They cant keep track of who paid for what and when. Apartments are constantly leaking. They charge for electric in the common areas so youre paying two bills. Parking garage gates break all the time. Im so glad Im done with this place.

I think this is the place the police raided in December of 2016. And the guy who was raided was shot by police and ended up shooting himself and dying. So how can this go on in such a high priced place especially when he lived in the penthouse on the top floor.I work in downtown and have visited this place numerous times and cant say i am impressed

Poor maintenance, management, and false promisesseveral requested repairs made at the beginning of my lease have yet to be fixed. dish washing machine and refrigerator are both in poor condition - freezer causes leaks onto floor.was told that bluetooth sound system would be added to workout room and im sure there is no intention on doing thisshop around downtown before signing here... not worth it. beware.the art-deco tower is very loud because of trash pickup and restaurant activity

Management knowingly leases units with flooding problems and plumbing leaks then makes false promises of major repairs/renovations to property. I was forced to contact Dallas Code Enforcement and my loft was declared uninhabitable aka condemned. Added bonus - my next door neighbor, a home based arms dealer and his live-in girlfriend, a sociopathic dominatrix for hire aka HOOKER, were constantly having kinky sex and/or violent fights. Worst experience ever.

****editing to add that the day after I wrote my review 20 cars were broken into into the parking garage. I saw about 10 walking through myself. Smashed windows, everything. Also forgot to note there are constantly leaks- they literally keep buckets in the common areas to catch water.Going to save you the trouble and my personal opinions and just tell you the facts in hope that you will reconsider living here. What you will be told: When you take a tour and they tell you the gym is being renovated soonThe Truth: They have been telling people that for years (at least 2.5 since I toured) yet no attempt has been made. What you will be told: They have an online payment platformThe Truth: Its difficult to use when it decides to work. I have heard it only takes certain card types and the service fee is 10%.What you will be told: The price is reasonableThe Truth: Its true leasing prices are reasonable but it comes at a cost. My utilities are 2x as much as they were for my previous apartment twice the size I have now and YOU HAVE TO PAY ELECTRICITY FOR THE COST OF THE SHARED COMMON AREAS. I have never heard of this practice nor has anyone else Ive spoken to. Its bizarre. What you will be told: There is a dog parkThe truth: There is a smelly disgusting patch near the side doors. Check it out. Several tenants dogs have gotten Giardia. What you will be told: Its secureThe truth: Although they do their best, cars get broken into all the time and their is in air bnb in the building owned by the building which invites strangers in. Oh and they have weddings and events on the second floor all the time. People who are at these events have full access to the first 2 floors and the parking garage plus the doors are totally unlocked during these events. What you will be told: Package pickups are easyThe truth: This is one I have mixed feelings about. I believe the staff truly does their best here but theyre busy and sometimes you dont get notifications packages are delivered until 24 hours or so later but you can always go in and ask.Other than that. The location and maintenance staff is awesome. The majority of the office staff is great, try to speak to the leasing consultants instead of the manager if you can- hes not as helpful. Neighbors are very friendly and welcoming and they are very dog friendly. Beware of the construction and do a complete walk around the building to see what youre dealing with.Oh and the elevators are broken kind of a lot.IF YOU DO CHOOSE TO LIVE HERE:(I warned you)Keep receipts and document everything. The office can be horrifically unorganized. Go into the office if youd like anything done. Do not depend on email. Do not keep anything of value in your car. Get used to not being notified if someone is going to enter your apartment that day (the lease dictates they can tell you after the fact). Be mindful if youre going to take your dogs to that dog park.

DP&L could be an incredible place, 1930s Art Deco but the building is not maintained and they believe brown is the best color for interior spaces instead of the glamour colors of that era.The hallways are dark, no a/c in the elevators, the gym is tired, the pool area once beautiful has not been touched. But the most serious issues is the building needs repointing which will not be done so Windows, ceilings leak and there is no intention to repair. If it breaks it wont be fixed, complain, pur work orders in, talk to management good luck. They believe that this building is Luxury, its not, they believe its Market, but its not in comparison to the buildings around it. To top it off they charge you common fees for electric, trash, & water... Seriously electric how could you when the common areas are not a place to socialize because they are hot and oldWe have been here 6 yrs, its a gem waiting for attention to blossom. Such a shame we LOVE the building
