I ask to only fade the side of my hair and to not cut the top (I been growing my hair out on the top for months). The barber kept picking out the top of my hair (my hair is naturally curly) and then she proceeded to cut the top of my hair. She then stated next time I need to pick out the top of my hair (again my hair is naturally curly and I specifically said not to cut any part of the top). I been here before and got my hair cut by Meagan and she did a phenomenal job. Unfortunately, this current stylist disappointed me. Lost a client, I will definitely not come back to this barbershop.

There are only a small handful that I dont forget, and this will be one of those.From the moment I walked in, I felt truly welcomed. The space was clean, comfortable, and inviting.Lastly, and most importantly, was my stylist Halie. She genuinely listened, and intuited exactly what I wanted. Not only could I tell that she loves what she does.... She was very good with scissors; and I received one of the cleanest and best-styled cuts Ive received anywhere in the country. The products she used on me worked fabulous, as I was super impressed with the Sea Salt Utility Spray. It added a little grit and texture to my hair, with no nasty residue.Thank you Halie!

After moving to Columbia in 2016, I began searching for a barber shop with a combination of talented barbers and reasonable prices. I came across Circa and have always had a great experience. I love this location, especially being inside a local coffee shop. The barbers really know their stuff, and with more locations opening across South Carolina, Circa is becoming a staple in the barber shop industry.

I’ve had my hair cut by several of Circa’s barbers — Martha, Em, Halie — and all are great. There’s a reason they’re all usually booked up into the future and they don’t take walk-ins — everyone knows their quality. Get in when you can; definitely worth it.

Having my hair cut at Circa is an experience. Its important to arrive 10 minutes early to grab a cup of something delicious from Indah, because DR is always on time. He is a a gifted professional and a pleasure to chat with. He is able to take my random mumblings and hand-waving wishes and translate it into a flattering and fun cut. Most importantly, DR is a delightful human being who is able to make space for everyone.

This was my first time here, and I am not an expert on describing what I want in a haircut, but Martha gave me an amazing haircut and beard trim that was somehow exactly what I wanted. The service I received was very detailed, and Martha gave a lot of her attention towards getting every edge and line looking perfect. I especially enjoyed the fact that this place is a real barber shop because the straight razor shave around my neck, beard, and hair lines makes all the difference. If youre looking for a real, quality haircut or shave, look no further. Circa is the real deal, and fills a void in Columbia. Too many upscale barber shops were trying to be just that - upscale. You shouldnt have to hand out free whiskey to convince me you give a good haircut like the other places in town so. So circa focuses on what matters: a fun vibe, highly-trained barbers who are in time with current style, and top notch haircuts. Pretty simple, but thats how it should be. (Dom is my personal favorite, but I can honestly say youll have a great experience across the board)

For someone that had never touched my hair or beard before, DR gave me one of the most intuitive, detailed, and personalized trims Ive probably ever had. He had an incredible knack for notating individual quirks (cowlicks, uneven textures) and seemed to effortlessly incorporate them as he worked. Best of all, while I felt like I was fairly vague in my style request, he made a conscious effort to LISTEN to me and showed me progress at several stages throughout the cut to make sure I was staying satisfied.As for the shop, its clean, classic, and efficient and you have the smell of coffee floating over from Indah next door--whats not to like?? I absolutely plan on returning!

This place is great! I booked a deluxe haircut with DR and I must say, he really knows what he is doing and how to create style with hair. He thoroughly explained everything he was doing while cutting my hair (without me asking) and focused on getting me the style I wanted. This was by far the best haircut I have gotten in Columbia, SC in the past 4 years here at USC. To any college students looking for a good haircut, I recommend this shop over any of the five points barber shops. The website and booking process was super simple and easy to use. Circa has a clean vintage aesthetic, with subway tile walls and penny tile floors coupled with the original DECO ad on the exposed brick, and leather furniture. It is not all style however, as the services are top notch. In fact, it is the substance that makes this place my go to. DR and Martha are great barbers but also constantly learning. You can tell how much they enjoy what they do and even on a busy day, I always feel like the only priority in the shop. Solid people, great services, cool space. Ive tried many shops and Im telling you, this is the cream of the crop.

You wouldnt necessarily think a barber shop could move a city forward, though Circas cool vibe proves otherwise. Theyre taking an ancient concept and blending it with modern times, feels progressive and still comfortable. For example, both Columbia locations are paired with Indah Coffee. Yum. And they are GREAT barbers! Even my girlfriend uses them now, beautiful cut for wayyy less money.

DR immediately emailed me, and we worked out plans to reschedule the visit. Soon I was booked and ready for my trim.I arrived at the appointment and sat back in the chair as Martha G and DR welcomed me into the shop. Besides the modern, minimalist decor and the clean space, her thoughtfulness and attention to detail made this, for me, more than a beard trim...it was an experience.I would recommend this place to anyone whos looking for more than a haircut.
