They do good work for mani and pedi. The wait time is pretty standard for a nail salon.
Ive been cooking here for years on and off they still remember me Sean the owner is always nice and so is the staff
The wait was extremely long which is understandable for Saturday morning... However by the time I was waiting on for a pedicure he did not do a good job, my toenails arent evenly cut and the Polish was lumpy..
I decided to go there for a no chip manicure and regular pedicure (although the reviews were negative) to give them an opportunity but what a waste of money! My no-chip manicure didn’t last a full week, I had nails chipped and polish showing cracking in it. I went back to see if they can fix my nails and show them in hopes of better service, unfortunately I was told that they can repair chip nail nothing else in a rude matter. I will never go back & suggest not to spend your money there!
Its cool..I always get what I want
Their nail polish is thin almost see through, then when you ask them to put another coat on there they ask question you.. I still have them a $5 tip and I didnt even get a thank you smh..
My wifes nails look very nice
Call clean facility they did a good job on give me manicure and pedicure for me
Pedicures are pretty good.
I had pedicure from Tina this morning. She is a professional for INGROWN NAILS! She did not hurt me at all. I did not even feel lol. I loved how she treated. The reason I did not give 5 starts because pedicure should not be 10min It is 27dollars. Come on, that should be at least 30 min. ( you can ask google “ how long pedicure take “ )😊 I will go and try again next time.
Amazing service super quick too
This was THE WORST experience! I will no longer patronize this establishment nor will I make references. I was there for 2 hours for a terrible manicure no chip. There is dead skin under my gel nail and the nail tech told me i need to keep it there for two weeks and to come back. They did not even want to give me a discount for the service that i was clearly not pleased with. The first nail tech kept looking at her clock, and did not use the solution that is needed to soften the dead skin. She cut me and everything. Once i said I was not going to pay, another nail tech said she would fix it. She did not take the gel off so the dead skin is still under my gel coat! Terrible experience and they have lost a customer! I’m mortified!
I needed a acrylic fill in quick for my Birthday!!! They got me in and out fast. He took care of me with no waiting. I am so happy I picked this place. Oh did I mention this is my 1st time visiting. ♥️
The service is great..been going here for more then 10years..Thank you Shawn and crew..💥
I would not suggest this nail salon to anyone for any reason other than convenience. Got my nails done on two separate occasions. Got my nails done the first time I got no chip and my nails were chipping the same week that’s never happened to me at any other salon. Second time I got a filling and no chip! 4 nails were raising up at the nail bed and the polish was literally pealing completely off! Waste of my money I didn’t even bother trying to have them redo them. I just got a soak off and fresh set some place else. I would never come back not even under emergency circumstances. On top of that they don’t have the different color powders and vacation eye magnets and all the creative stuff I like. So it’s a no for me
Tom does the best pedicures. If youre in a rush go to someone else, because he takes his time.
I would just say watch the service that you receive. The very last time I had gotten my nails done( no chip) the polish had started started peeling off three of them. I called and they fixed them... Two or three days later they started peeling AGAIN... BAD SERVICE!! JUST WATCH YOUR NAILS AND SERVICE THIS ISNT THE 90S WHEN OUR NAILS WERE GOING ON
Shawn is the dopest nail tech in the game. I love him Kandy and the whole crew😍😍
Not only did they mess up my nails and everybody in the store was telling them that my nails are not supposed to look like this, the owner cursed me out and over charged me. He charged me $30 for an acrylic fill in. I did not even have color on my nails they were just ombré.
After nearly four months of covid-19 quarantine. It was wonderful to experience a mani-pedi in a brand-new socially distant world. Not only are several levels of sanitation present, this establishment is now using some single use tools for each pedicure. So, you get a goodie bag to go. Indulge yourself!!!
Had a great manicure and pedicure with a very good manicurist. The shop is clean, the people pleasant and I strongly recommend them. With no appointment I was out in a little less than an hour.Edited comment - I just read the older reviews and I never had a long wait or a discourteous experience. Im been going there every month or two for about 2 years.A very satisfied Hyde Park customer
Very unprofessional. I got a no chip and the next day the polish came off. I went back to get it corrected and they refused saying it came off from working. This has never happened as long as Ive used no chip and I will not be back here.
Just horrible! I got a powder dip manicure and in a matter of two days it chips. I had a lady name Kim do my nails and she put so many coats on it. It was an inconvenience to come back during a work week. They decided to fix the two nails for free but made me wait for an hour so far and counting. I had two different ladies look at my nails as if I was lying. I won’t be coming back here ever. Terrible customer service. She fixed my nails so quick and left powder all over it. I guess because it wasn’t anything in it for her, she didn’t care.
My boyfriend just moved to area for school and I was out visiting, and looking to get my nails done. I saw Nails by Angel on Yelp and made a same day appointment. Im used to getting fun designs home in SF and wanted a thick red French manicure. The woman doing my nails was so nice and patient with me, even though she said they dont normally do designs. It turned out lovely and Ill definitely be back.
I had a manicure and pedicure!!!
Very neat with their work
Certain person is good with the services. They can do better. I will still visit this location until I feel a shop that is better.
My experience has been good since Ive been coming in. My only concern is they need new nail colors. The same colors are boring. Honestly thats really it. I like my nails every time I leave and Im treated well.
In here currently, swear if I didnt need these done now for tonight I would leave. They have people in here who dont know/understand the services youre asking for. As the girl who was doing my nails was started, she started covering my nails to take my overlay off & I was confused as to why. So I specifically asked if getting that done would be extra, she said no. I asked again because I thought it was weird & she said no charge. Guess what happened after? They did charge for that! Im not coming back to this place ever. Im not a fan of giving my money to liars. I dont mind paying for services, but Im not playing that overcharging BS.
It wasnt crowded when I went. They always do a good job, and they are reasonably priced. And the bonus - parking is free!
RACIST KOREAN ESTABLISHMENT! I feel completely violated! The lady skipped multiple steps during my pedicure. When I brought it to her attention and asked for a percentage off, she literally ran off behind the counter with my card and swiped it for the full price despite me asking her to make amends for her lack of service. I have NEVER been so disrespected by a business that is supposed to provide customer service. They do not respect or value black women, we are nothing more than a dollar sign to them. I WILL NEVER PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS AGAIN.
They can do all of the latest trends in nail art. Love this shop and I highly recommend it!
My pedicure was a simple wash and polish. Not quite what I was expecting. Professional nail job. I was pleased with the french nail job. I will go back but not for pedicures. I did a better job when I got home
I go for convenience sometimes only when my nail tech where I normally go is not available.
I only come for my friend who hooks me up with the pedicures! He s the best!💯
I love this place but some of the workers there are not nice. I went there to and the man who attended to me kept saying your feet is nasty throughout. Im spending my money and you telling me what I want you to do for me is nasty?. I will never go there again
Always go here. Has been great all the time.
Well being in this shop you feel a bit uncomfortable because the staff speaks broken English to you, but will speck their language to each other. And on a number of occasions they make jokes about the customers. I may not be able to speck their language but I know when someone is being disrespected.
Im a regular here -- nothing fancy, just a conventional pedi. My experience is that all the technicians are quick without rushing. And they consistently on a nice polish job -- unlike the people at another Hyde Park salon that i tried (once).
I work in marketing so I understand product costs. I know in this industry it can be very expensive. However, they charge the same as some “high end” nail salons that use expensive products and 4 days after getting a no chip set my nails are chipping. The products they use are very cheap as this has happened twice now. The first time I thought it was me so I didn’t think anything of it but now I understand it’s the product. I change between other salons and never experienced this. The shape is great it’s just the product. It’s not no chip if it chips so they should charge accordingly.
Will not be getting my service ever again! They’re extremely rude and have nasty attitudes. Went in to replace a nail that broke less than 24 hours later and still was charged as well as wasn’t officially waited on till 20-30 mins later and that was after I spoke up twice about my nail.
Im sorry but I would never visit this place again. I stopped in on a Saturday because it was convenient while running errands. I got my eye brows arched and eye lashes by Monday my eyelashes were coming off. I was told by the manager when I called a couple days later they only last 24 hours. There is no reason my lashes came off this soon they should have last at least a week. That was $30 wasted, manager wasnt willing to accommodate me at all. Sorry they lost my business. Plus the female tech did a horrible job arching my eyebrows thats what I get for trying something new.
Ladies please read the reviews before coming here. Going to this establishment is simply not worth your hard earned money. I hard headedly went here against what I read of course youre entitled to give people a chance but not this place. I was so disturbed by the service I received and the price I had to pay. My nails were cut against me stating not to do so and my nails werent even shaped properly. I will never return to this place even if its an emergency. If you ever see this place empty youll know why.
Small shop, good service. They’ve gotten better over the years.
Worst place ever. Came here because of a recommendation and I cannot believe the abysmal service. I asked for a fill in and repair and the person that they stuck me with was very rude. The icing on the cake was his disrespectful and standoffish attitude because I asked for a nail to be soaked off versus him destroying my nail bed by using a nail clipper to pry off the broken nail. Even after it all, to be nice, I offed to pay for the one soaked off nail service. Coming from out of town to Chicago to attend my graduation, I thought there were way better establishments than this display of low verbiage service. This was a very upsetting and time wasting experience .
There’s only one person working there that can fix broken nails so you have to wait a long while. They did a good job on my nails but I was really displeased and upset about Shawn yelling at me multiple times when I asked that my nail be straightened. He continued to tell me my nail just grows crooked and if I wanted it fix then I can put the nail on myself. I asked to have someone else fix the nail since he was angry and yelling but no one else seemed to be able to fix his work. He seems to have a good rapport with the majority of his clients but becomes angry if you ask him to fix something. Even before fixing the nail he went back and forth with two staff members who agreed that my nail was crooked. His defense was that I had crooked fingers and he didn’t want to fix it.
Ion kno his name but he didnt polish my nails good at all, rushed through the whole time and they arent shaped right!! He got glasses wit a extra long thumb finger nail!!!
Convenient because it’s close to my home and the wait is usually not too long if you get in early, which is the reason for two stars. But they do lazy work. There’s only about two people in the entire place that do okay. My gel manicure lasts less than a week before chipping, acrylic nails loosen and pop off in two weeks, use OPI top coat (which most know is one of the worst for lasting manicures), etc. Plus, I’ve witnessed them treat customers poorly and it’s not as clean as I’d prefer. I could go on. Finally ending my relationship with this trash salon. If you enjoy mediocrity, this is the place for you. If not, find somewhere else to spend your coins.
Im very disappointed! I visited this place off a recommendation. I paid $40 for a half ass mani and a dip that resembles lumpy press on nails. Ive NEVER had my nails drilled so much. THEY HURT NOW and my cuticles are turning yellow! idk if its because they didnt professionally apply and shape them correctly or if it was the equipment she didnt pull from a clean sealed package but they need to get it together. my cuticles are turning yellow WHY?! I was recommended to go here and i will never go back. I wasted $40 going there. also while being there Ive witnessed one employee being very rude to a customer he was servicing. DONT GO THERE.
They are very professional and move very fast im satisfied
The service is absolutely horrible! They are very rude and treat you ridiculously to be spending your money there! I waited well over a hour for a full set and when I started to complain they tried to get me in a chair to shut me up and I still waited for 30 more minutes then told me to come back tomorrow!! I strongly recommend not going here, Rude and lazy workers and the owner Shaun is rude also!! I will never go back
NEVER AGAIN. THEY CUT MY FINGERTIP OFF.I was made to wait for two hours to have my acrylic nails removed at this salon. When I walked in I told the gentleman at the door I was here to have my false nails removed. He nodded and motioned for me to have a seat. An hour later a woman who had seen me waiting walked over with a clip board and asked where my name was on the sign in sheet. That is when I realized why I was being passed over and not being helped. No one told me there was a sign in sheet. I signed and and had to wait until every new person who had walked in the salon after me and signed in was finished. After nearly another hour had past an older male employee approached me to ask what service I was waiting for. I told him I was having my false nails removed and he asked me to have a seat at an empty station. As is custom he began to examine the underside of my nails before cutting. I had these nails for six weeks so there was quite bit of my natural that had grown out beneath the acrylic overlay. Six weeks worth. Im not sure what the point had been about examining my under nail because he then proceeded to take a normal pair of guillotine-style nail trimmers (not ones made for false nails, but basically toenail clippers) and haphazardly began grabbing my fingers and chopping the entirety of the fake nail, and my nails, down to the hyponychium, also known as the “quick” of the nail. In layman’s terms, it’s the bit of skin that connects your nail to your finger. This is unsafe, and unacceptable. The nails had been on so long they should have been popped off with a nail tool and not cut down in the first place. A licensed technician would have been trained to make two diagonal cuts to the nail and not one straight across. Cutting the nail bluntly and straight across is not only extremely painful, but cutting down the nails to the hyponychium causes the nail bed to split and crack from the trauma. By the time he got to my thumb he was not even looking or paying attention cutting so quickly he sliced the tip of my thumb off along with the false nail and my real nail underneath. I screamed and ripped my hand away and he immediately started arguing that he didnt cut too low, Not sure how he knew to make that argument because I hadnt even gotten to telling him he had cut too low yet. He then shoved my hands into a steaming hot bowl of acetone despite the fact that my nails had been chopped off so low my fingertips are higher then my nails and only the nail bed remained. Even the tips of my nail beds had split and cracked open from the cutting. I refused to keep my hands in the bowl because of the pain, and so he took the power filing tool to manually remove the remaining acrylic on my nail beds but had no idea how to use it and lost control of the device, power sanding the bottoms of my finger tips by mistake. Many of the other employees began looking over at me, snickering. Coming over and looking at my nails, making jokes with the nail tech and then looking st me and laughing. Very obviously taunting and degrading me in a language they knew I couldn’t understand. I was disgusted and asked to speak with a manager. The employee sneered at me and asked why I need to speak to the manager. I asked again. He threw his hand in the direction of the manager and refused to tell me exactly who it was. When I asked him to go and get the manager for me he refused and said if I wanted to talk to him I could get up and go do it myself. My nails are so short there are no longer any finger nails. Only nail beds. What’s worse is that I was having my nails removed to attested an elegant event for which they would have been inappropriate, but wound up instead attending with the hands of a child with a nail biting issue.even typing in a computer or on the screen of my cell phone is painful. I do not believe that the man who did this was a licensed nail technician, bot do I have a reason to believe that any of the many employees at this salon are liscenced. If they are not I wonder how legal the operation is at all.
Love this place! They all seem to be great nail techs but Lilly is the best. They get you in and out!
Folks stay away from this place! Ive been here before as I was in the neighborhood and decided to patronize again.I waited patiently for 20 minutes to get a polish change, and once I got in the chair I informed the guy to be careful of my middle finger as my nail broke in my skin 3 days ago and it was still soar.As he was taking off my polish, his fingernail was sticking in my skin, so I pulled my hand away and informed him of same!Guess what? this Bobo told me I complained to much and for me to wait for another nail tech!I then in turn, informed the guy who was NOT busy how soon would I have to wait and was told another 30 minutes, please is not that damn serious and Im not going to spend my money on disrespectful salons. ..WHAT THE HELL! They blew it with me, I will drive 50 miles before I ever come back to this place! You missed a great tip!I WAS FORCED TO RATE YOU AND THE LOWEST WAS ONE STAR, well please note, you deserve no stars.#SUCKERES#BUSTERS#No CLASS
I did not have to wait and they did a great job on my feel and nails.
They are not a Black owned business, but lists themselves as one!
This salon is just okay. The staff was not talkative, a little unwelcoming, and pushed a product I didnt want. I had a gel overlay done. There was gel left on the skin around and under my nails in addition to shaky paint job. The nails look just okay overall but not the standard I was looking for. There was no wait.
Candice does an excellent job nails pedicure and eyebrows.
Love this salon am never disappointed
I came to get a quick regular manicure because I was in the area and ended up changing my mind and running out of there. The tech laid a dingy looking rag down to do my nails on then he grabbed a nail and cuticle clipper from the back somewhere. It wasnt even in sterile packaging. I asked him if it was clean and he began to spray it with alcohol. At this point I got a glimpse of the inside of the nail clip and was horrified. It looked like a buildup of dead skin and all types of other crusty unsanitary stuff. I ran up out of there. I felt bad for the other two ladies that were getting there nails done.
Ive gone here for years and have always received exceptional service until today. My nail tech cut my pinky finger, right below my cuticle and I told him shortly after it happened. He waved it off and proceeded to spray alcohol on my hands. At this point my finger with the cut is BURNING and I tell him again, you cut my finger and its burning. He was extremely rude and implies that Im lying because he cant see it and starts to argue with me when I told him Im not paying full price for unprofessionalism. My fingers are very small so I didnt expect him to see it, but if a customer is telling you that her finger is burning from a cut that wasnt there when she sat down, you would think the company would want to rectify the situation immediately. He refused to give me his name, but I asked another tech and they said his name is Loi. Needless to say I wont be back.
I’m upset that I came here and asked for a full set and I brought my own polish(5) because I was going for a specific look and I was told I couldn’t do that!!! Why? If you call yourself a nail technician you should be will to do what the customer wants
Wonderful mani and pedi
Just left there waited for an hour just for a fill in. They serviced everyone before me even when they came after me. The workers are lazy and do terrible on nails. I started going there when the first opened and left the state and came back to them. Every time I go the workers are rude to me. Just very unprofessional. Just like all other nail shops in the bronzeville and Hyde park area. I will NEVER go back.
All the employees other than Shaun are rude as ever, I drove all the way from near North riverside Mall to have my nails done by Shaun. SO SINCE I ASK FOR SHAUN NONE OF THE EMPLOYEES WANT TO DO MY NAILS... Stating I may complain since I asked for Shaun specifically. Im so angry because I have things to do and should have just went to the mall near my house!!!
Do not go here!!!!!! The guy that did my nails said one price then changed it to another when it was time to pay. Also I woke up the next day after getting them done and my nails are throbbing!! The acrylic is stuck to the skin on my nails and it’s very painful. DO NOT GO HERE!
My real nails broke within a week and then when I yfot then to fix it they charged a fee !!
Love them been going since they first opened
Its convenient 😏
Ok so the first time i came here in the summer and the wait was crazy long i got there 10 minutes after yhey opened. i waited an hour an a half and was like screw this im going home. the second time i came i waited patiently and was glad i did. a gentleman did my nails and geez louis were they amazing. i gave a good tip and got a zillion compliments on them. now im on my way back as we speak. just be patient and when in doubt have the man do your nails and a woman on your feet. :)
Good for quick nail service, no frills.
Look. Ive been avoiding creating a google+ page for years, but if thats my only way to get the word out, then it shall be done. I have been to this salon 4 times now, including this one. I have only had my nails done 2/4 of those times. This is because the wait is always incredibly long no matter what time of day.First, I was never greeted when I walked into the establishment. Im willing to let that slide as long as I receive proper service afterwards. Okay, I understand that during regular nail hours, everyone is here & the wait is long. Fine. But I showed up at 10am (opening) to get my nails done. There is one man here. What does this mean? That even though I showed up early, Im still waiting 45 freaking minutes to even have someone look at my nails. To add insult to injury, the establishment does not give the appearance if a prestigious and clean nail salon. The window sills are dusty. The paint is chipped and faded. I turned my head and theres a thick black spider crawling by the front desk. I nearly died.I have all of this to say, and I havent even gotten to the actual nail experience yet. After waiting 30 minutes, I said forget the manicure, Ill just get a pedicure once its my turn. At last, another woman strolls in and Im hoping I will FINALLY have my toes done. Now. Even though I signed the sign in sheet, the woman goes to the lady who entered AFTER me (and was seated behind me) and asks HER what she wants. Why the hell did she skip over me?I go to pick my color, there arent even that many options. I wanted a dark blue, there isnt one. Maybe the woman before me took the only one? Idk. Fine. Dark purple is fine. But then the woman makes me bleed, because she picked off too much dead skin. She came out with her ear piece in. I ignorantly assumed she would listen to music. No. She was on her phone. But whatever, I guess. I wasnt really in the mood for small talk ANYWAY.Did my nails look nice? Sure. I wonder if thats what keeps people coming back here for despite the terrible service and horribly long wait. But my toe hurt where she cut me, so Im marking points off for that. And I was in there 1 hour & 45 minutes. So that horrible assault of my free time was actually not worth it.
Very professional a d nice!
This is the best place for a manicure and pedicure in the neighborhood. Friendly staff and does not smell very chemical.
Pedicure done on my mom she said terrible company only cut and paint toe nails she could have done it at home dont get feet done there terrible treatment no rubbing of legs and lotion never appllied to legs no hot towels she even tipped them but never again run fast from here if you are minority especially black people
Waste of money worst pedi Ive ever gotten my feet look better before I got there.
This placed did a NO-CHIP fill in on my nails two days ago and the polish is already chipping.
If I have a way of giving 0 star I would have done it, Very poor service
I wont recommend anyone to go to this salon.. Some of the nail techs are very unprofessional and rude..
Second time doing my nails and I hate it and Im never going back there again.
Loved my pedicure!
I came on a Friday at 4:10 after waiting at another salon on Harper for over 35 minutes. There was no line, clean salon and courteous staff.
It took 30 minutes for me to get my nails done. Never coming back here!!!!
Long wait time and air never on when its hot outside
They dont take long at all and they do such a great job.
Sean is great
DO NOT GO HERE!
Very poor customer service.
Nice place, friendly staff
Horrible customer service. Horrible attitudes. Never again.
Good spot
My pedicure was ok but the lady that did my manicure did a very bad job and when I went back on yesterday for her to fix she just painted over the problem, then she had the girl to charge me five dollars more for my pedicure.
Okay customer
Friendly service
Good service, but overpriced!
Always a great experience with a great staff !!!!!
Cleanliness preserved
