My usual barber (at another place) canceled on me at the last minute two days before my wedding. 18|8 made the booking process simple and I had an appointment the next day. I was lucky enough to get Chrissy, who started exactly on time, is incredibly kind, and gave me the best haircut I’ve ever had.Every single staff member is attentive and professional. The place is spotless. I can’t say enough good things about my experience. It’s safe to say that I’ve finally found my new men’s salon after trying countless shops downtown.Oh, and the price…it’s a little less than double what I was paying in the past, but worth every penny. You won’t regret booking an appointment with 18|8.

They are happy to make you wait 10 minutes for their stylists but if you are running 10 minutes late they will not wait for you and will ask you to rebook. Location has had significant stylist turnover and has switched the stylist I booked without informing me ahead of time. The amount you pay for this haircut is not worth the mediocre result.

I went to 18/8 for a haircut. I saw the stylist Ashley. Ashley was hands down the best hair stylist I have ever had in my life. The whole salon was super clean, and Ashley was super professional and knowledgeable. I have been struggling with my hair for years, and Ashley took care of it all. Figuring out a functional and trendy style, to cleaning up my eyebrows, to showing me how to replicate the look at home and what is best to use for my hair and skin. If you want a fun convenient city hair cut place 18/8 is it, and Ashley is your girl to see.

The best haircut I ever got. My stylist Ashley was so professional and gave me a full explanation of my hair and how it grows, the shape of my head and what styles suit it, while still catering to the look I wanted to achieve. Overall a great experience and will definitely come back again!

Ive been going to 18/8 for about 2 year now and have continually been pleased with their service. Always on time and accommodating with requests, and Ive always left with a great haircut. When I first moved from Miami a year ago, I was nervous about where to get my haircut in Chicago because there were so many choices and options. After many trials with different hair stylists, I have found one of the kindest, talented, and most affable stylists in the city, and if you get a chance, you need to schedule a haircut with Alecia. She is truly a class act and makes sure that she understands your needs and what you exactly want with your hair. She also uses this texturizing tool that no one has ever used for my hair, and it has made an immense difference. I always joke now that if I ever move away from the city that I will make sure my future stylist will have the same tool; Alecia deserves a raise! The ambiance of this place is very modern and the staff is always making sure you feel at home. I always get my haircuts during the latter half of the week, so I get to interact with Erica at the front desk who is also one of the kindest people Ive met in the city. She always asks how my day was and approaches everything genuinely, which is a breath of fresh air. This hair salon also has a very seamless user experience on their website, which makes scheduling haircuts very easy and at the click of a button. Check this place out!

Cassidy cut my hair today and I left feeling like a million bucks. What I liked most aside of her friendly personality is just how much attention she paid to my haircut. Theres a little variation to what you get from person to person but either way its worth the extra money versus the chain haircut places. This is the only place I get my hair cut now.

THE best. And the reservations system online is simplicity defined. They also take walk-ins, but Id use the reservation system for sure.

Extremly expensive, ok my mistake I did not ask the price but for men how much can be the cost of service for making hair only short even nothing very special. Ok I understand because COVID they could not get good profit, also now they should pay attention several rules, these are understandable, but charghing with tip 68 dollar also can not understandable. I dont want to say this but this is one kind of fraud. Please ask the price before go. This is my lesson. After that I will go everywhere with asking price.

Im getting married in 8 months so I wanted to try different hair studios to get an idea of who could do a good job. 18|8 is where Ill stay. I had Taylor and not only did she do a great job but she gave me tips to use to style it. One of the best cuts Ive ever had. She was sociable, honest, and showed she knew what she was doing. The best part of all of this was that it didnt break the bank and very reasonable for downtown Chicago. I definitely found my place not only for getting my haircut but also for my wedding.

Josh was incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to. I was comfortable the entire time and felt any input I gave was well-received and implemented. Can not recommend this place enough!

All around positive experiences every time I visit (about 5 so far) and will continue to be repeat customer. Definitely not your typical awkward barber experience. Good interior setup - simple and refined (leather chairs with mini fridge and TV; semi-private barber chairs make it easy to communicate). Kate gives fantastic haircuts and will continue to be my go-to, big shout out to Kate and the 18|8 team!

Ive been going to 18|8 for years, both in LA and Chicago, and Taylor is the best stylist Ive had by far. I previously had a bad haircut and grew my hair out for a bit, looking to reshape things. She was right on board and knew exactly what I was going for. Very intelligent, intuitive, and fun person. Unfortunately, the receptionist thats been there the few times Ive gone is a little off-putting, but not worth steering me away from this salon that Ive enjoyed for many years.

This place is really good. I had a really horrible previous experience with haircut at greatclips and so I was a little nervous about how this one would turn out. I had Taylor do my haircut and she was really friendly and assured me about my experience at 18|8. She talked me through how she would proceed with the haircut and then even taught how to style my hair. I love my new haircut and had a great experience. I dont live in Chicago any more but still willing to purchase the membership here and get my haircuts done here whenever I am in Chicago.

I think it depends on a particular hairdresser and not a place, nevertheless I found one here (Chrissy) and 5 stars are due.

It was difficult to find a place that is worth the money in the city that was wasn’t extremely over priced or under priced where you’re risking your haircut.I tried numerous places both being high and lowWithin the city area but all had major draw backs.I finally booked an appointment here and was really pleased with everything from the cleanliness of the place, booking appointments mobile or over the phone, the staff being well trained in men’s hair and the variety of services to choose from. If you need a constant place to go for a excellent haircut and staffIn the city this is the place

I loved having my hair fixed at this place... they really know what they are doing.... they asked me what I wanted and then made sure they understood. Got a beard trim, great experience. Good prices for the services provided. They suggest calling ahead but were able to schedule me on short notice.

Dont let the cool decor fool you. I was just a passerby and walked in because it looked like a great hair salon so I decided to spontaneously get a haircut. Im extremely disappointed. It turned out to be a Sports Clips quality haircut, at best. In fact, I would have been better off going to sports clips. I would have gotten the same, uneven, careless cut and saved about $45. I know this because the stylist told me she came straight from sports clips.

I had my cut with Josh, and hes very good and all the cuts were done precisely and artfully.

Great spot. Kate does good work, seen her a few times & the cut looks better & better each time. Went here after being dissatisfied with another chain hair cuttery in Chicago, would recommend 100% if you want a good cut. A bit pricey, though you get what you pay for. Check out the membership plan if youre going to be a regular.Cheers!

The Salon itself is very clean, modern and sleek. The staff are kind and take great care of you. Cant recommend this place enough.

Excellent experience, Alecia did a wonderful job. Will be going back for my haircuts on a regular basis. Only thing to note is that you can’t get beard shaping with a straight razor, but that doesn’t take away from the salon experience.

Been twice and have had 2completely different experiences. First time the stylist talked too much and gave me a so so cut. Second time I got a great cut but the stylist was moody. The second time I was there the front desk lady was soooo charming that I almost asked her out. Maybe next time.

The drink and bartenders did good job but the seat organizer judging who come and set who sit where as long as everyone should pay equal for drink and tips that kind of attitude never accepted any place and never happened before any other place for me and he gave me bs story which is I saw that story didnt happen for all other people he just pushed me to buy more drink because I was very nice with him and he took advantage

Really liked the place at first but my stylist left abruptly (which happens) and I wasn’t that thrilled with the next stylist. She didn’t seem to pay much attention to what I was asking for and just cut it her way, or seemed confused at my request (which I thought was simple) and gave me the next best thing. Either way, still looking for a long-term stylist.

Im from the subburbs but was in the city and in need of a haircut. I found this 18/8 and i must say, this place is amazing. The staff is professional and friendly. I can honestly say I have never left a barber shop/hair salon more satisfied than I did the first time I came here. I would recommend it to anyone in the city. If I was someone who cared more about my hair I would make the 40 min drive every time.
