We have absolutely loved living at the Mason. My boyfriend and I signed onto a lease in mid-2019 and have had no desire to leave since. We knew right away the Mason was exactly what we were looking for - modern, high-rise building in a perfect location, gorgeous pool, incredible rooftop view, massive gym, and other appealing amenities. We toured a lot of places, and the Masons pool is arguably the nicest, most useful given its size and layout. The pool is where weve met some of our, now, closest friends. The location was one of the biggest selling points though. Being mere blocks away from the hearts of West Loop and Fulton Market gives you walking access to some of the best restaurants in the city, and the neighborhood is only getting more attractive with the ongoing development (Small Cheval is supposedly going up 1 block away...!)Theres also always something going on to benefit the residents - whether thats a free wine and cookies in the lobby, free coffee at checkout from Foxtrot, X% off happy hour somewhere, etc.. Not to mention the comedy shows, musicians, and workout instructors that management brings in to host events for the building.Management is very communicative and will always keep you in the loop with building news or promotions or other important information. We have a building app you can download where you can connect with residents (theres a building marketplace to easily buy and sell items from residents), get the latest building newsletters, submit a maintenance request, pay rent - really anything youd need.OH and cant forget about the thick concrete floors and ceilings that have prevented noise complaints from ruining countless weekends :)
We moved in a few weeks ago. The building and amenities are amazing! We love it here. But most importantly, I want to call out the staff. Ava, the assistant property manager, was so helpful and kind to get us exactly what we needed. She actually sold us on this place. Then we moved in and we had a couple minor maintenance requests and met Johnny. He was so helpful and kind, first class service! Last but not least after being here a couple weeks, it’s so pleasant to come into a building every day and be greeted by the wonderful doormen. Each and every one of them are a delight.I especially want to call out Gregg for his positivity and helpfulness. We are so thankful and would recommend the Mason to anyone that is looking for a top notch place to live, quality, service and more!
Responded and corrected a broken oven first thing in the morning after I submitted the request the night before. I was in a work call, and they did their best to be as quiet as possible. Very pleased with the service and solution!
I love living here. The amenities are great. But, most of all, the staff is top notch. Specifically, Sabrina is THE BEST. She is very attentive and personable. She makes my dog’s day by always speaking to her and giving her treats. I would recommend for anyone to live here!
The Mason is one of the best/ if not the best residential buildings in Chicago. The amenities are beautiful and simply amazing. The staff is incredibly helpful and extremely responsive! It’s easy to tell they truly care about the property and it’s residents. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE MASON!
The Mason has been an amazing place to call home for the past year and a half! If it wasnt for us deciding to purchase a home, my girlfriend and I would have stayed even longer. Great location, amazing units, stellar staff, and beautiful amenities. Would recommend 100x over!
The building and the staff have been excellent so far! Ava and Sarah in the leasing office have been a tremendous help. Johnny and Rolando (Building Engineers) have gone above and beyond to fulfill any maintenance request. They even found my house keys after a quite peculiar way of losing them. Thanks Mason team!
I moved here from Texas last February, right before Covid hit. I can say the entire staff here has done a phenomenal job given the circumstances in maintaining a thriving community. From socially distanced hosted events with local businesses, virtual events and pivoting quickly to keeping the building well sanitized and safe through enforcement of rules (without being overbearing) and increased levels of cleaning (the maintenance and cleaning staff has been incredible). The apartments themselves are modern, the facilities are very nice, and the neighborhood is wonderful. We made a great choice in choosing the Mason as our first home in Chicago and just renewed our lease for another 12 months.
The Mason is truly one of the premier residential buildings in Chicago. Excellent amenities and staff. They dont treat you like just another transaction and they truly care about the property, not simply trying to capitalize on a hot RE market in the West Loop. Highly recommend!
I LOVE THIS PLACE. I have been looking at all the wrong apartment buildings until this point. I immediately fell in love with the views, amenities, STAFF, and location. Can’t wait to move in July!
We just moved-in over the weekend and were extremely happy with our decision to reside here. The process from signing to receiving keys (+ a very appreciated little welcome kit) was made very easy by Ava B and Sarah O. It truly feels like a resort here. So far, so good!Additionally, an added bonus is the on-site maintenance crew. Johnny stopped by today and our experience with his service was nothing short of friendly, flexible, and efficient. Happy to have them nearby.
Johnny is great. He is personable, efficient, and extremely professional. Thanks for being so helpful and mounting the TV, Johnny!
My best friend lives in this building and I love it so much, she’s convinced me to move in when my lease is up! Can’t wait to call The Mason my home ☺️
Johnny - as always - responded very quickly and provided fantastic assistance!
I met Johnny and Mike and both responded same day and took care of everything I requested. Very nice team and very helpful.
Ive been resident for 6 months and have had a positive experience. Gym is extensive with a large variety of equipment, eliminating the need for gym membership elsewhere. 14th floor amenity deck has an amazing skyline view and great spot to chill or BBQ. Building is just over a year old and well maintained. Cleaning staff is constantly circling the building. Ava & Alexia in the leasing office do a good job of managing resident needs & arranging social events a few times a month. Elevator issue mentioned on another review was true, but I believe the damage caused by a careless resident that unfortunately resulted in substantial repairs. Issue has been resolved. West Loop is a great area with endless amounts of restaurants within walking distance. The Mason is a good spot and happy to call it home.
This building is beautiful but the management company might be the w o r s t I have ever experienced. Completely disorganized, the rules they put in place are never enforced. The safe key entry does not make sense since there are random people from the neighborhood coming in to use the gym and other building facilities.Everything breaks constantly. And each time it happens nothing is fixed properly but just ‘fixed enough’. The elevator buttons falling off is basically a norm here. Anytime you will have an issue with virtually anything in your apartment you will be told that ‘yup that’s just how this works’. Including faulty balcony doors.Bottom line is it’s all smoke and mirrors, all money went into making this building beautiful but quality is horrible. The three stars are basically for the design and the gym.
I deliver for Shipt, Postmates, etc. a lot here. Friendly front desk, beautiful building. Don’t walk into the windows/door, at night If you are unfamiliar with this building, its like a guessing game which of the floor to ceiling glass windows will actually be a door.
The Mason has been such a great place to call home thus far. Everything I’ve needed help with has been handled with ease and no hassle! Johnny, one of the in house engineers answered my work order extremely quick and made sure that what I needed done was completed with perfection. We have been treated so kindly here by Ava and the rest of the staff as well. Best place to live in the West Loop!
This building is beautiful with fantastic amenities and common spaces. However, every single time we go to visit our friends that live there, one or two elevators are broken, leaving only 1 functioning elevator for the entire building. I find that unacceptable, especially considering the fact that people are attempting to social distance and that becomes impossible to do while waiting for an elevator with other tenants.
A beautiful, new community with fantastic amenities. Having said that, be prepared to deal with nightmare HVAC systems if you choose to live here. The AC system doesn’t work properly, be prepared to have 78-80 degree units from March thru October. Hampers the ability to have a good nights sleep & therefore not worth the cost you’ll pay to live here.
I moved into the Mason 2 months ago and while the weather outside was chilly and inhospitable on moving day, the experience inside was (and is) anything but. Ava Bobola who works in the leasing office and is managing resident needs is my primary contact. I cannot say enough positive things about her. She is very responsive, knowledgeable, and incredibly passionate about ensuring and delivering a superior occupant experience. The West Loop is a very popular and hyper-competitive area for attracting tenants and Ava has been an exceptional brand ambassador for The Mason. She has been instrumental in differentiating it from other properties and attracting and sustaining very satisfied residents...myself included. The Mason is a superb property I am happy to endorse, but my thanks especially to Ava for helping deliver on its promise to be an extraordinary home for its tenants.
My husband and I have been at the Mason for just over 6 months now, and its been a great place to call home. A+++ for maintenance in particular. Johnny and Rolando are amazing. They go above and beyond the call of duty, they even hung our heavy mirrors for us when we moved in! Every request has been attended to immediately, and they are great at finding solutions. We recently broke our closet shelf due to the amount of weight we put on it. I submitted the maintenance request Sunday night, and Rolando was in our apartment Monday morning fixing it. He offered up a solution to add a second shelf to help offset the weight of our belongings and we couldnt be happier with the outcome. Thank you for your level of service!
The Mason has been incredible! Everyone that works in the building is super helpful and accommodating. The community is very nice - the gym and the pool are spacious enough and all the residents are super friendly. The view from the rooftop is one of the best I have seen in Chicago and the apartments are extremely well thought out with high-end appliances and outlets everywhere! Could not be happier with calling The Mason home!
Came and fixed the issue quickly and easily!
Great place to live when it first opened. Great location, units, amenities, etc. Then COVID hit. Even while a handful of residents got COVID here, The Mason was one of the last West Loop complexes to implement COVID safety measures. Loose enforcement of masks. Yes, everyones been complaining about the broken elevator - hundreds of residents were forced to use one elevator during the peak of COVID. Lines of 10+ residents extending out to the lobby waiting for one elevator. Naturally, people wouldnt social distance and would want to cram in. The people that work here are all kind, but not sure if they are well-equipped to keep hundreds of residents safe. They are more focused on sending us emails about restaurant deals and IG contests in the middle of a pandemic. Had to complain to management that they needed to shift their priorities. People dont want to enter into a contest for a gift card - they just dont want to get severly sick. Look elsewhere in West Loop - plenty of options and most of them do a better job maintaining a safe environment.
Great property. Amazing and caring staff.
This building has a marijuana problem. There have been many tenants on many floors that have complained to management and not much is done to address this. Contract lists this building as non-smoking and you are supposed to get fined if you smoke on property. This is not true, despite management investigating. How many times can you send please dont smoke emails and think anyone will listen? You can even smell the smoke in the garages on some days. The smoke can get very strong in your apartment depending on where you live. I wouldnt recommend for anyone to live here if they dont like the smell of marijuana.
Front office and maintenance team are on top of any questions I may have or any issues in my unit that need to be addressed very quickly.
Incredible building, but even better staff!Alexia and Ava from leasing have made my first week in the Mason outstanding, they are both approachable and will work to make your new apartment feel like home.Johnny and Rolando might be the best 2 maintenance staff I have ever encountered... Customizing closets, helping with the smart VRF systems, coming in on Saturday when theres an issue, and doing it all with a smile. You guys are amazing! So far they have happy hours, free yoga classes and group fitness, a state of the art coffee machine and a nice dog wash and dog run for our Frenchie.Great first week at the Mason!
Wonderful experience with Building Engineer Johnny Chaidez, who is eager to provide excellent service. Helped us with engineering and handyman work. Made us feel right at home. Thank you, Johnny!
Rolando fixed a apartment issues quickly and professionally. This is my first time renting a apartment and so far the Mason staff has been top notch.
Johnny is the man! Handled my TV mount like a boss...very responsive and friendly!
Rolando is awesome!! Their service is great and maintenance is 10/10. Tour one of the apartments for sure!!
Great place to live, amazing views, and awesome staff. Johnny is always very helpful and gets things done quickly.
The one star is for the physical building itself. The finishes look great and the overall structure is nice. And the gym with occasional perks help. A bunch of things to consider before moving here:Be conscious of what side of the building you live on, one side is next to the L and the other is next to Bottom Lounge. You will hear the L regardless of where you live but its obviously louder if you live on the Lake St side. Bottom Lounge has concerts at night and I can feel the bass and hear the concert very loudly from my unit (I face poolside and on the 12th floor). The bar is not up and running nor functioning, they do not know when it will be ready, so dont think of it as an available amenity, pretend it doesnt exist. The windows have no treatment on them so everything is crystal clear, I can easily see into my unit from the pool and Randolph street. If privacy is your game then you will need to live with the blinds down.Ladies!! This is not the safest/most secure building. Be prepared for the front desk to send your deliveries and guests up to your unit without so much as a phone call to make sure they are expected. Key fabs for common areas: people can just piggy back others and come right in, same for the scanners in the elevator, all it takes is one person to scan their fab and then any and all buttons can be pressed. ALSO if you do a maintenance request, make sure to specify that they are NOT allowed to enter without your permission, or you might be walked in on at any point in time at your most vulnerable (or in my case, not even have a maintenance request filed and I ended up coming home to two strange men in my unit (thank god I wasnt in the shower).Internet options are only AT&T and Xfinity, possibly an alt coming but that has been in the works since the day I moved in (5 months ago, and I still dont have internet)Not sure if this is just me (although others Ive spoken to have had this issue) I am still not receiving all my mail... Still missing the last 5 months of magazine subscriptions, a few bills and then some. The mailbox numbers dont match the unit numbers (I truly think this is the cause of the issue)The leasing agents are very kind but Marquette Management as a whole is the WORST company Ive ever encountered in an apartment complex. I called multiple times over a 5 month span and only finally was able to get in touch with someone after digging for a specific persons phone number. They will defend every action and lie they do even if their action was illegal and wrong. They will not offer anything more than the bare basic apology which feels like a punch to the gut, especially when you are paying a premium price and dont have amenities that you were told would be up and running by move in day.If the management company changed I would consider staying in this building. But Ive had such a horrible experience to the point where Im considering moving and I will 100% never again rent an apartment thats managed by Marquette Management.
