Luis is phenomenal at his job. All of our concerns were met with straightforward answers and our paperwork was explained flawlessly. Luis really made the entire process pain free and very reassuring. Luis is professional, nice, helpful, and respectful. Immediately after reporting a problem, Luis had the maintenance personnel fixed the same day. Im very glad I moved here! Cano Properties is a great company!!The apartments are very nice & very well taken care of. The management is outstanding along with maintenance. The apartment manager Luis does such an extraordinary job!! He is very nice & helpful & makes sure each tenant is very well taken care of. Great experience!
They are very unprofessional, they dont abide by the City laws. Lewis (Manager)is a very arrogant man, he feels like he owns the company. He is very discriminating,, Cano properties is the worst place to rent.
Honestly I lived at one of canno properties 67 Marquette rd... for four years I never felt so secure at a apartment complex . clean living quick response to any problems I had ... actually was a little sad I left ... I have nothing bad to say about this company.... if you need a clean and safe place to live take my word this is the place ...
I was very heartbroken to leave such a great apartment. Cano properties always kept this building very clean and the landscaping was very well kept. My neighbors were respectful, friendly and quiet. Definitely one of the few apartments in Chicago one can take pride to live at. Unfortunately because of my job I had to move but if life brings me back to the city I’d love to comeback here.
I lived in a Cano property for a many years and I can not say a negative thing about him, the staff or the apartment complex. Cano and his staff are very nice and professional. He also has the same staff which proves he is an excellent boss (staff will not stay if there is a problem with management). I always tell people business is business so if you are late with your rent, you will get a notice for non payment even if you pay timely every month. Its just business and thats how all business function. We also know oversights happen and therefore you call, have the issue reviewed and resolved. Things happen and it takes a phone call to fix most things. Anything I needed fixed was fixed timely. Cano also gave the building friendly reminders so we did not get tickets when the snow banned stated on 63rd street. Cano does a lot and I appreciated him and his staff. If I needed an apartment again in the future Cano will be first on my list.
I lived in 3 of Cano properties from 2002-2018 as I have downsized and up sized over the years. All of them, I mean all of the properties where the safest, cleanest, cozy apartments I have ever lived in. All maintenance issues were always addressed immediately. Although Luis is very business oriented he and all the staff were always approachable, professional and respectful. Now that I am older I now live in a senior citizen property but if I had to go back to living in a regular apartment building it would definitely be a Cano property. I would most definitely recommend living in a Cano property.
Horrible experience. The property I stayed in was on 63rd and Troy, infested with roaches. Also the building wasn’t cleaned all the time. No reimbursement for moving out before June 1st due to the infestation. I paid rent for the whole month of May but I moved out on May 5th. Beware of that property. They don’t tell you about the roaches until you make several maintenance requests to have apt exterminated which still didn’t solve the problem. Throw the whole building away. Deserve no stars. They also have attitude problems.
Horrible!!!!! The building on 63rd and Troy has roaches. It’s a low income, high crime and predominately Hispanic neighborhood. The people in the office are extremely rude and unprofessional. They must get paid poorly bc their attitudes show it. Don’t rent where you’re not treated with respect and dignity.
I went in to inquire about an apartment. I told them it was me and my 21 year old son their energy changed immediately. But I continued to ask questions about what my son and I needed. I went back with the information an hour later and wouldn’t you know it the apartment had been rented that fast.. Lol!! They judge you off appearance and definitely race I don’t care how many races they rent too they’re prejudice. The Hispanic and I guess she was an old white lady she never acknowledged me which I thought was very rude. Cano shame on you!!! I heard they have roaches anyway glad I dodged that bullet 🖕🏼
The building is very ghetto and I can’t wait to move out of here. They have no kind of professionalism. There are thousands upon thousands of roaches in here. And it is boiling hot in here in the summer and freezing cold in the winter. This is the worst place I’ve ever lived my life if I could get my lease early I would.
I have been living here for about a month. The apartment is great, very clean. I had some issues with the kitchen and bathroom sink, so I called and Cano sent professionals out to fix it within the hour. The floors are a bit creaky at the Karlov apartments, but other than that my experience has been great.4 stars because I would recommend that they implement an online pay system in which there is not a $20 fee.
I always admired Cano and thought it would be a nice place to live. I went into the office and they were really friendly, the setting was nice but as soon as they decided they were not going to approve me(which was fine) their attitudes and demeanor completely changed. Luis and Debbie both became rude and frustrating. Tip of the day: Rather someone is a prospective tenant or not treat them the same way. I’m only giving 1 star because I have to, customer service is the forefront of any business.
I am a previous 6 year tenant of Cano Properties. Let me start by saying, they do not appreciate good tenants and are only interested in the rent being paid! I was never late on my rent. However, one day I had a 5 day notice, sitting in the hallway on the floor outside of my door! I had paid rent on time this month, of course. When I called to follow up, they reported that I was charged for a replacement main door key! Please understand that I only called and inquired about the fees to replace a key, never did I present and pick up a key! They informed me that you are automatically charged at the time of inquiry, IMPOSSIBLE! So embarrassing to receive a 5 day notice for no reason at all and so hurtful that after having rented from them for 6 years, they’d issue a 5 day notice without even contacting me first!The residential building I lived at also had parking in the rear. The parking lot is very bogus, uneven slots and not enough space for every tenant. However, they threatened to revoke my parking for “double parking.” There was no way you could even park and have an appropriate amount of space between each car! Every car double parked! Also in the winter, they never properly shoveled the snow! Last winter, for nearly a month, I had to park down the the street and walk to my apartment in the dark and freezing cold! When I called to follow up about why snow had not been removed, they reported “We are not removing snow at this time as it is supposed to keep snowing.” WHAT? How does this make sense? So inconsiderate as I lived on Kedzie which has many parking restrictions, so yes I was forced to park a block or more away nightly in severe weather conditions!Last, every year I received a rent increase but yet every year they had done nothing to make my unit more appealing! Just charged me more money every year! The very last rent increase was of $100! I was done after that! Also, let me not forget to mention my unit had a very old built in wall air conditioner in the kitchen that DID NOT WORK! When I followed up about that, they reported “Some work, some doesn’t. That’s just how the building is we are not removing the he ones that do not work.” TACKY RIGHT? So for six years I had a huge old air conditioner in my kitchen that served no purpose!After six years, I am happily housed elsewhere! Nicer area, nicer (modern) unit, cheaper rent with utilities included!Please do no rent where you are not appreciated! CANO IS NOT WORTH IT!

Outstanding, clean and safe. and warm Reception every time i visit their office on 63rd street. and they work hard to keep their property up to date. so if you are looking to re-locate give this company a try beleave me you will not regret it. i have been with them now going on 7 years only had one small complaint for the neighbors that lived above me . and big Louis the owner jump on the problem promptly and the problem was solve. Cano properties is #1 in my book. Thank Guy for great work that you do.
Love living here with cano. They have a great environment for everyone to live here and a. place to call home.
I went to see if they had any near houses were there’s schools BUT it was close but they remembered that my mom lived with them for many years .And she never had a problem with nothing

This my 1st time renting with cano properties in I absolutely love it. My tub got stopped up in soon as I called the office someone was out here before I even got off the phone with cano I was so amazed the building I stay in is so secure.I Love It. I would recommend this to any one looking for something nice in Chicago il.

Hey my name totianna stewart and i been living with cano for 6yrs and i really love everything about there apartments and they always fixs thing on time they come right on out and get the job done
My first year at Cano I paid rent two weeks early. They said I was a perfect tenant. The next year I started feeling sick. I had a misdiagnosis but I didn’t know that. I traveled for work which was difficult but did whatever I had to so I kept my place and sent my rent. I had no family or friends. No help I had a huge lump on my neck. I couldn’t eat and barely slept. I would wake up chocking on my Slava. Some months they would let me be a week late or two they never stuck to a certain date which a lawyer told me the day they give they can’t change or it gives me grounds. The manager Luis would yell at me and put me down and his staff no remorse. Until one day I came in and by this time I have another mass on my other side. Luis says “I feel awful we know you have no one and god bless you. You are an outstanding tentant. He couldn’t believe my neck. Same thing I was late and he was back to putting me down. I went down to 100lbs. My pastor of ten years came three hrs to see me. She said we have to get you out of here and into a doctor. I was two months away from my lease. Luis agreed to let me leave. My pastor got me into a doctor the next day. After a week I found out I have stage four throat cancer. I had to have chemo and radiation that didn’t work so I had surgery cut from ear to ear to take my lymph nodes and tumors. I was thankful they let me out of my lease so I called to thank them also emails even after they made me feel like a low life for getting sick. So I tried to get a place only to find out they charged $755.00 for a month but not two. That makes no sense. Evil people with no heart. My church wanted to pay so I could get a place. They called and said he was so rude they were shocked. They needed proof I owed and asked him if they could send a copy. He said no they have done enough. I called with the church sitting there. I said if you don’t send proof how can they pay? “He said I guess we won’t get the money and had the nerve to say I’m abusing them” smh the church never heard of such a thing and to talk to a lady of god that way. Yeah I’m abusing fighting for my life trying to get their money. They know I have no family or friends. I had to stay in a mission fighting for my life. The church board payed anyway so I can get public housing. So if I do die maybe in my own place. Now the housing Authority asked me “why is Cano not calling back”. I told them they couldn’t believe it. Looking at a lady of 100lbs a big scar across my neck and can barely talk dragging a feeding tube. Real classy Luis!! You need training and now your staff talks like you. I wasn’t from Chicago but a lawyer told me sick I had grounds to fight and didn’t. They never had any issues from me. Rent early until I fell sick. He seen my tumors on both sides. If you rent don’t get sick especially stage four cancer. You and a church are taking advantage paying rent for whatever they want to charge. I still have emails and pictures of my neck. Not to mention smelling marijuana from neighbors. A man who beats his wife constant. Don’t say anything or you’ll make the hit list.May god help these people but really management!!! If they hear him Luis yelling and putting a sick lady down it’s a green light for them.They kick people out so fast. Your replaceable, my neighbors used to tell me don’t get sick etc I never believed it. Go somewhere where your not a number. You actually have value and they work with you. Shame on Cano and go ahead and attack me. Will you actually give a bad reference if you call back ? I see it’s abusive to do your job. I’m cut ear to ear so it would show what true monsters you are. Mr Cano I do not believe you know how Luis is treating your tentants. I heard it way before I went through it. You are a huge company and compassion, tackfulness goes a long way. In almost two years people moved so much it was impossible to keep track. It was a teacher that first told me “they are the most disrespectful company I have worked with he moved”. I lost everything. Why sabotage a home? You got the money. Sorry I have cancer.
