I lived here for one year, did not have great experience at all.1. Walls are really thin, I can hear my neighbor talking and dog barking every day and night to the point where it woke me up from sleep.Ive notified managers multiple times, nothing was done.2. Similar issues, but they were ALWAYS doing constructions on hallway, floors, roof top. I worked at night and could not get any sleep in the morning due to noise. - they would email estimate completion date and time, and was always delayed.3. Lots and lots of bugs, they agreed to put screen netting on window before move in and it never happened. Asked them after move in few times, never happened.4. Always had issues with shower water, the temperature was never stable and the drainage never worked well no matter how good you take care of it.There are many other issues such as sanity, safety, convenience. But, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for the cheapest apartment to live in, maybe the place is for you. Much recommend to pay a little more and live in a place where you want to call it home.

Ive lived on property for the last 5 years and we finally have a management team that is on top of things. The new maintenance team is responsive and does an amazing job explaining the issues within your unit and the estimated timeline for completion. I recently moved to a new remodeled unit and Im so glad I did. Everything has been taken to the next level with Cardinal. Tevon, is a friendly face and my go to if I have any issues with my unit. Love this new team.

Ive lived in this dilapidated joke of a dwelling for 3 years. The constant construction is enough to make you literally feel like youre losing your marbles. Imagine a chainsaw in your ear at all hours of the day. The renovations are needed but the work is cheap and poorly done, any finished renovations look terrible within weeks. Its like they spray paint over a 100yr piece of wood and expect it to look nice. Ive seen toddlers paint birdhouses that look more classy than this complex. The new carpeting in the hallways is already trashed and look like a bad trip on mushrooms..I wouldnt be surprised if the clown from Saw started riding down the hallway on his tricyle. This place is nightmare, dont believe their gimmicks and discounts. Needless to say dont move here. Run. Run far far away to a happy place.

Really don’t recommend this place. I stayed here on a short month long lease and the building is old and pretty gross. There was a cockroach in my apartment the first night I was there. There was unending construction going on on the exterior of the building that was incredibly loud from 8AM until 4PM every single weekday that we weren’t informed of until right before they started that exacerbated my severe chronic migraines and caused a ton of dirt and dust to enter the apartment. Our water turned brown at one point. The kitchen is too small to really cook in. I was happy when my month was over.

I just moved in over the weekend, from out of state. I couldnt have asked for a more seamless process. With never having viewed the unit in-person, the community and service I received has been more than I could ever ask for. Everyone was more than willing to work with me throughout the entire process. Im happy to be a part of this community here at The Oliver!

Overall it has been a pleasant experience. I moved in here a couple weeks ago for work. The rent is reasonable for a great location. Revonovations are coming in nicely. There was some miscommunication in the beginning as well as issues with the laundry room. However all issues have been resolved promptly and professionally and I commend the team on their work.

This is my second year leasing at the Oliver and the management team is great especially Chirag Chaudhari who initially handled me and my wifes viewing of the property and units available. I have worked in downtown Chicago for over 20yrs but appreciate Chirag Chaudhari selling us on committing to living here. We are not only able to handle work and business with ease but also the entertainment, fun and party are all around while not short stopping on the family atmosphere. Daycares, Schools & Parks at every turn, the Lincoln Park within blocks, Lake Michigan & Beach is steps away, every store youll need and multiple grocers. Along with the wonderful renovations and beatifications The Oliver also added a top notch Rooftop Deck with floral aesthetics and a barbecue area with grill and the enhancement of the view of our wonderful dwelling. Now the bottom line is responsiveness when you put your peace of mind into the hands of a leasing team and the Oliver has not let me down. The maintenance team is the best that I have ever experienced and while the entire management team has been there for me and my wife I believe as a business should be the team member that helped us settle on this this great location has acted like and account manager not just getting you to sign but holding personal accountable for a successful stay at their facility from initially Leasing until the day you move on. Chirag Chaudhari you havent let us down one bit, Thank you.If you are out there and looking for a place to call home with courteous & helpful staff, a plethora of amenities and the a location that puts everything at your fingertips and honestly with competitive prices try the Oliver we did and its been great.Rod & Ashley Smith

It’s just been one nightmare after another. Don’t make the mistake in moving in. The price is tempting but you truly get what you pay for. The entire building is under construction which is good for the future but a nightmare to live through.

I was relocated to Chicago for work & came across this apartment building on apartments.com during my search for a new home. I reached out to the leasing manager (Chirag) & after speaking to him was so excited to schedule a virtual tour. The virtual tour went really well so I signed my lease before I even physically visited the apartment. When I finally saw the studio I had leased, I was pleased surprised & relieved that it was better than I expected. The management was proactive & quick to answer any questions or concerns I had. Chirag was kind & helpful through the whole process. I would definitely recommend The Oliver on LaSalle to anyone looking for a cozy studio or 1 bedroom. The location is great! You are a 10 min walk to the lakefront. There are also plenty of grocery stores, restaurants, & gyms nearby.

I have lived in this building for about a year and a half. The new management team has completely changed the mood of the apartment. They are in the process of completely renovating and the building is really looking great. This was one of the main reasons I renewed my lease, coupled with the fact that this building is in a prime location right by Old Town, Gold Coast, the Red Line, multiple grocery stores, the lake, etc. I also love that they do little things like food truck Friday and resident appreciation week. Those little things make you love coming home. Would definitely recommend living here.

The building management has always been attentive to my needs, and stays on top of whatever concerns I raise. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars are because of issues out of their control. The building is old and in need of constant repair, and the neighborhood is noisy, so if you are sensitive to noise, this is not the place for you, but the location is great for someone who wants to be in the middle of all the action.

I have had the best experience so far with the new management at The Oliver. During my tour, I was given all the time I needed to make the right choice on a unit for me. My experience with The Oliver and the staff has been great. Chirag helped me navigate finding an apartment when I first moved to Chicago. He was also a huge help in helping me move into a larger one-bedroom unit this year. His hospitality was one of the reasons I chose to renew my lease here. The complex itself is in a great and active part of the city (Old Town/Gold Coast) and is a mid-point to Michigan Avenue and Lincoln Park.

Im a real estate broker and I work closely with properties throughout IL state. My client moved in by June 2020 and right now its December, we still havent received the commission check. The manager Chirag has always been nice following up with us but I doubt he did any work following on this check, because it would make no sense that check still hasnt arrived almost 6 months after my client moved in. They are not returning my emails or my managers email regarding this check. Please, send us the commission check ASAP before 2020 even gets over. More over, the Cardinal group should supervise their property and work with brokers appropriately!

Ive really enjoyed living here. Josh was super helpful, I moved from Michigan and needed to find an apartment in about a weekend. Josh was able to get me into a lovely little studio. Management (aka Chirag) has been responsive to any sort of issues Ive had and always has answers to my weird and random questions.Pros:Safety.There is a front door buzzer and typically there is someone at the front desk to welcome you and say hello!Neighborhood. The Oliver is in a very walkable area, grocery stores, bars/restaurants, public transit and parks all within a few blocks plus the surrounding architecture is quite beautiful.Neighbors/People.I have a dog and she is welcomed by everyone even on her feisty days.In the elevator people will usually tell me to have a good rest of my day and make mild small talk.Sound.The walls are nice and thick. The only time I hear anything is if someone is in the hallway right next to my door, which is rare.Appliances.Most everything in my apartment has been recently updated. The walls dont have a lot of patches and things have been painted white/gray for a more modern look.Cons are very minimal and fixable. Ive mainly just been too lazy to figure out how and since they arent a big deal I havent really filed any sort of request to fix them.Heating.In my apartment there isnt a great way to control how much heat the radiator thing gives off but its an old building, what can ya do? You can open up the window a crack and feel a lovely cool breeze perfect for warming up some tea and snuggling up on the couch to a good movie.

I just recently moved here and I have been so impressed with the level of customer service I have received from day one! I worked with Josh during the leasing process and he was so helpful and patient with me as I made my decision on which apartment I wanted. The staff is very friendly and helpful! The other day I had a maintenance emergency and I ran down to the office to tell Chirag, he quickly called maintenance and in minutes they were at my door to fix the problem. Not only that, they even took the initiative to fix something else in my unit that I had no idea was even broken! Did I mention it was a Friday evening, I’m sure everyone was in a rush to go home but they took their time and took care of me first! If you value customer service then this is the place for you! The Oliver gets it right every time!

Almost lived here, paid a REFUNDABLE deposit and all, because the realtor was pushing to get the apartment rented. When it came down to it, none of the apartments they had were for me. Just my preference. The realtor didn’t want to accept that and made me tour some more- told him again this wasn’t for me and never heard from him since. Said it would take 30 days to cut a refund chèque because of COVID. It’s been 60 days. Called management and was reassured it would come and still nothing. Called again and now no one wants to get on the phone to clear it up. Honestly seems like a scam. They really good salesmen and when it comes down to customer service- it’s inexistent. Realtor I dealt with was awful! Do not rent here!

The Oliver On LaSalle is located in if not one of the best, then the best location in Chicago with a tenant need and want around him/her being between Lincoln Park, West Loop, and River North. A lot of the major grocery stores, restuarants, and gyms are within walking distance. Since the apartments interiors are renovated, it feels like Im living the high life. The leasing agents Josh Lucas and Chirag Chaudali were awesome to work with for move in and how to set up my furniture in my new place. The hospitality as soon as you walk inside the front desk is very welcoming.

I live here and do not recommend it.Community standards are merely a suggestion; there’s zero courtesy and no enforcement of quiet hours. It feels like a college dorm on weekends.Management recently changed from Greystar to Cardinal Group. Cardinal is disorganized and seems to have jumped in blindly. Im not entirely convinced they arent making up everything as they go along.Theres a sign-in sheet at the front desk; apparently all guests need to sign in, even though doors are controlled access and people can get buzzed in. Ive heard staff gossip comment about how often someone has guys over. The disregard for privacy is disgusting and offensive. The building is old and the heating system is ancient. The boiler has one setting: extremely high. I have both radiators turned off AND windows open. Its 40 degrees outside and 77 degrees inside. The walls are extremely thin and I can hear my neighbors entire conversations while waiting in the hallway for the elevator. I also hear the neighbors dog bark incessantly; likely because it can hear everything that goes on all around. Theres random yelling and beeping from the alley, and weekends sometime sound like this is a dorm on a college campus.Theres no smoking in the building per the lease, but management has yet to enforce it aside from polite reminders. The apartment was filthy when I moved in and it was empty over a week before I arrived. I keep finding cat hair...and I dont have a cat.The side entrance, lobby, and elevators smell heavily of something putrid that resembles moth balls. Its inconsistent, but frequent enough to mention. There are cockroaches and glue traps in the bike room. But hey...there’s a bike room.On the bright side: rent is cheap for the neighborhood, the train and bus stops are close and convenient, there are two grocery stores in close proximity, and there are a lot of great gyms and fitness studios nearby. This place is fine if you just need a place to sleep, shower, eat, and store the contents of approximately 2-3 suitcases. Look elsewhere if you have any sort of standards beyond not being homeless.
