Currently live here and when i moved in, we didnt have hot water for a week and they didnt replace it until i told them i would call the city of austin. the railing was so old that it was being held together by rusted paint and the deck flooring still hasnt been fixed, and when it rains its mushy like mud. the older blonde male receptionist literally said its like a trampoline as a joke, which i would have found funny if they fixed it soon after, but i put the request in april and its now september. the last time it rained, our ceiling started leaking and when i told the leasing office, they said they would have maintenance inspect it. i called the next day and the day after to see when theyd be fixing the ceiling because the water leaked onto our TV, and it was like pulling teeth to get an answer out of them. that was almost, if not 2 weeks ago and its about to rain again. i overlooked the reviews before moving in and i really wish i didnt, please heed my warning so you dont make the same mistake!
I wasnt going to post a review for years but feel I need too now reading all the other posts. I lived here from 2014-2017. From 2014-2015 I had a great experience. Great people, pool was great, working out room, etc. Starting in 2016 it started to go downhill. My unit started to get infested with roaches. Maintenance would come over multiple times and could never get rid of the problem. I would deep clean and wouldnt put a dent. I would have to travel for my work 3 weeks at a time and come back to literally a roach motel. Friends that I had check on my place would be scared to walk in for more than a few minutes. I moved out in 2017 in good standing and gave them all my contact information. In Spring 2020 I was in the middle of buying a house. When they ran my credit they said I had a report to a collection agency for a 2017 charge from Whisper Hollow. I called them to see what was going on. They were extremely rude telling me they had no way of contacting me which was false because I gave them my new address and phone number and they told me there was nothing they could do because it was sent to collections. They couldnt provide documentation or pictures of what I was being charged for. It was for a $150 charge. Had I had more time I would have fought it but in the interest of not losing my current house I paid it and moved on. Basically from 2014-2015 I would have given it 4 starts but definitely zero starts since 2016.
The management got rid of the ice cream truck :) 5 stars
Notice how there are MULTIPLE people saying this apartment complex is scamming their residents and THERES NO RESPONSE!! If the reviews about the disgusting units filled with roaches and other bugs, car & unit break ins and a sheer lack of customer service doesnt turn you away from this place, PLEASE listen when I tell you that they will scam you and it will hurt your credit. This complex should be shut down and investigated immediately.
This complex is scamming people. Just like the last 2 people that reviewed, I too have bogus charges being added to my credit from 2017. Moved out of this poorly managed roach hotel in good standing and now 3 years later am getting hit with charges that are a flat out FRAUD! Management and credit company unwilling so send any documents of notification. Will be reaching out to the others to see if we can’t get a case going against this new management. There are plenty of other places to live in Austin anywhere would be better.
I had an AWFUL experience living here. Roaches were the least of my problems, even though there were plenty of them. I got a fake eviction notice for not paying my rent - spoiler alert...I paid it. Now theyre coming after me for charges from FOUR YEARS AGO but lost the paperwork so they cant prove I even lived there. They never even contacted me about the charges. I could go on for days. Awful, unresponsive, and now, just evil. NEVER LIVE HERE.
This was the worst apartment I’ve lived in for many reasons. Infested with rats and roaches. Maintenance was nonexistent and would lie about fixing things more often than they fix anything. I’d find notes on my kitchen bar saying the work orders were complete when nothing was touched.. my back patio door didn’t close all the way for the first 2 months I lived there letting in bugs and letting out my AC. You can hear the rats running around echoing in the fireplace which drove the dog insane. My upstairs neighbor would leave their dog on their back patio and let it piss all over the place which would just pour onto my patio and the furniture out there. The office didn’t do anything to help me when I called to complain. Thankfully those people left their lease early due to rats. The office is terrible at communicating any information. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy. There is nothing about this place that makes paying rent worth the money. I’d rather live in a motel 8 parking lot.
Juan is good at what he does.
So far, I am loving it! I moved blind from out of state, so I had no real idea what to expect. The staff is kind, attentive, and diligent. No bugs on move in, I have worked hard to keep things clean because the property is delightfully wooded, and that usually brings some pests. I read the reviews and watched like a hawk, but I haven’t seen any so far! Maintenance is quick, professional, friendly. Across the street from a woodsy park that I saw two deer at yesterday! I have no complaints and feel safe and taken care of. Thanks for going above and beyond, WH Management!
Everyone I meet in the office as been awesome! Small issue with payment and the holiday time was taken care of promptly. No bugs on move in. Nice neighbors and Nice property! Couldnt ask for more.
Its an older complex, its cute, quiet, decent neighborhood. good staff, good maintenance, good location. The landscaping is amazing and it is magical here. I’m pretty sure fairies live here.
Most disgusting/uncomfortable 6 months of my life at this place here. ROACHES, ROACHES, ROACHES. In your fridge, in your bed, in your dresser, in your pantry. EVERYWHERE. Do not move here.
(1 star is too many) Terrible management, tried to evict me while I was on vacation. The walls are paper thin, you can hear everything that people outside and your neighbors are doing and saying. You have to yell over the sound of your neighbor taking a shower. The water from the faucets smells horrible. No overhead lighting in the living room or bedroom. The only good thing about the property is even with all the abandoned cars in the parking lot there is still plenty of parking. Whisper Hollow, I will delete this review if you terminate my lease. Consider it marketing.
RATS, ROACHES, and EVERYTHING BREAKSThis same review is on yelp with pictures if you want proof that this is a real review.I think it’s cute when people complain about having 1 or 2 roaches or that maintenance took a week to respond. Yeah... try living with 20 to 30 roaches and about 5 large rats a night. Not to mention about $800.00 worth of damage. They went through 2 couches, ate my pet food, and my food. I also had the air conditioner break, no hot water, and having a broken dishwasher for MONTHS at a time. Maintenance literally does not come, closes the request, and says they fixed it.Here is where THEY DON’T HAVE A HEART. I have a small caged bird and I woke up at 5:00am to hear squealing and squawking. My little bird was FIGHTING A RAT! I was balling my eyes out because their was a lot of blood and I thought my little bird was going to die. I told them about it and they took 59 DAYS to seal the apartment where the rats were coming from. By Texas law, they’re suppose to resolve the issue in 7 days. Here is another example of them being heartless people. I got a late fee notice and I called since I already paid. They told me to disregard the notice and that it was a mistake. Then a few days later, I get an eviction notice, and when you call the leasing office, the operator says that your conversation will be recorded. They lied and said they don’t know who I talked to about disregarding the late fee notice, IT’S LITERALLY A RECORDED CONVERSATION! They refused to waive the outrageous late fee and the district manager refused to as well. These are the most heartless people in the world. Most of the people living in these apartments can not afford much and the fact that they treat people like garbage just because they can’t afford to live in a more upscale one is completely outrageous!
Dont move here, its not worth it... its without a doubt the worst place Ive ever lived. Youll be living with german cockroaches 24/7--in your kitchen and bathroom cabinets, on your walls, and just about everywhere else. The place is infested, theres no getting rid of them. I hired a professional exterminator and that honestly did NOTHING. As far as I know there are about 4 total people that work for the complex, so dont expect anything to be done properly or on time. Dont expect them to be pleasant either. You should probably just plan to do most of your home repairs yourself. Also, I once found a fast food condiment package in the pool, so that was fun. The park across the street is great and thats about the nicest thing I can think to say of this complex.
Place was infested with rats and roaches. To not have any kids nor pets let alone any food in the unit.... and forget maintenance, they never show!!!.I would see them through my camera put a note saying they serviced my unit without even stepping foot in my apartment. Sad.This complex does not care about its tenets like they should. Gum on the bottom of your show will get more attention . So happy to be out this dump. Would not recommend unless you are okay with roaches and rats.
This will be my 2nd year here my last unit I lived in was the worst my second week in I had roaches I reported that to the office and I didnt see the pest control man for a month then the whole to I lived in the unit I kept telling them I need them to replace my front door(because the previous residents kicked it in) and they never did ! They ended up replacing it when I moved out!!!! Then the office is really unorganized when I tried to move out they lost my vacancy notice but thats not the only thing they have missed placed. When I moved into my first unit they told me that I would have new appliances it wasnt until I got into the apartment that I noticed that was a lie my appliances were ancient & it wasnt until this year when I move into my new unit is when I had everything they promised to my first one. The new unit is better then the first one but the only bad thing about the new unit is the paint job the walls liked terrible.
Goods and bads about this place its for you to decide if you want to live here...... I like it cause its right across from a nice running path. Has a decent exercise center. Its not too bad at night a few police calls here and there. One thing I can say is if you have unexpected financial issues theyre understanding. Pretty quiet for the most part BUT management crew acts as if its not them then why rush to get anything done. They dont know how to answer their phones. They always have an excuse as if that solves the issues. The washer and dryer in the laundry room sucks. Ive had it eat my money numerous times and when brought to managements attention they dont deal with the machines is their response. The washer machines leave your clothes smelling like dirty water. Last thing I want to mention is their roach infestation. Yeah yeah they want to bring pest control for a couple of weeks in a row but does no good! Theyre appliances appear to be from the 50s. This place is old and over priced. If its your last resort go for it but look else where if you have a choice.Good Luck.
This place isnt perfect and we have had a roach issue, but within a week it was taken care of. We got a good deal on the apartment so I dont mind what we pay and the situation. Pest control is weekly if requested which works okay for us because were usually gone and it gives us the option to plan when they come and put our dog up. Theres a nice pool, plenty of parking, nice staff and very quiet. I live near the front and theres no vandalism or issues with police (Ive seen cops/ambulance only once). A lot of these comments sound outdated and the staff is really working to make this place better. They all know me by name, which apt I live in and even text me when I get a package! This place is at least worth checking out.
This place is sucks and the owner need to replace leasing office employees both Mirra and Elizabeth because they allowing wrong people living in this complex. This place going down so bad, ust take a look to all reviews no one satisfied in here.
This place is not for human beings, if you want to have terrible life come live at whisper hollow. One star is so much for this place.
Whisper Hollow Apartments are great! They are conveniently located, reasonably priced, and Poonam is a great property manager!
Spend a few hundred dollars more and look elsewhere. Weve lived at Whisperhollow for the past year and a half and we cant wait to get out of there. The roaches are awful, I clean daily and Ive minimized the problem but its impossible to get rid of them completely. The apartment is old, cabinets are cheap, the stove and fridge are ancient, our apartment flooded last year and the crew who came to fix the carpet did an atrocious job, its a cheap latex paint they use so it peels off... I wasnt going to leave a bad review because the people who used to be in the office and the maintenence guys (who are awesome and way overworked) made it bearable. This is the straw that broke the camels back, IF YOU MOVE OUT YOU MUST GIVE 60 DAYS WRITTEN NOTICE, this apartment will not send you a notice, they will not give you a courtesy letter or phone call to remind you. It is printed on your lease, but if you are like me and cant remember the fine print of something you signed over a year ago they will charge you for the full 60 days. Even though I verbally told 2 different people in the office months ago that I was moving it did not get passed along to the new office manager and I was never told it had to be a written statement. It may be their policy, and it is our fault for not having our lease agreement on hand, but you would expect an apartment of this size that it would not be that difficult to reach out (call or send a letter) 60 days before your lease ends and not just assume someone who did not resume their lease will want to continue on paying the much higher month to month rates. Its a way to make money, pure and simple.I would not recommend these apartments to anyone.
---i wish i could give ZERO STARS---How should i even begin to describe what a mess the current staff has made of this property. It is simply similar to living in a dump run by the most unprofessional people I have ever dealt with its not just my opinion but my neighbors too. My emails have been ignored for the past 2-3 months. They have no idea how to be professional with people who are paying money so they can live in a decent community. The new manager Kristen doesnt even respond to mails and is now where close to being polite. The office never answer the phones, emails or if you visit the office they are ALWAYS closed. The old people used to be kind and replied to my emails in a timely manner and I felt like things were being taken care of. But not now!! I strongly recommend that NOBODY SHOULD EVEN THINK TO MOVE HERE
Conveniently located by all major highways. Lived here 5 years (to avoid the higher rent when moving) it truly isnt worth the price.Buildings renovated on the outside, but the walkways, patios, landscape, laundry rooms, and gym still the same as I moved in if not worse. No soda machines because of countless vandalism, wood is so old in walkways and patios due to the rain, and no regular pest control services unless asked...The signs say new appliances, but that isnt true. You have to pay for water you use. Which chanGED in the middle of the lease contract for all tenants in 2014.However the pool got redone, the tennis court also (which is barely used), front office got repainted, new Whiskey barrels and 3 custom made signs.... just to make things seem what they arent.
ROACHES EVERYWHERE SINCE THE DAY WE MOVED IN. When I moved into my apartment last June, the first thing I saw were roaches crawling up the walls. Pest control seems to have difficulty showing up. I have called the office several times to make sure pest control will be here. They are supposed to come weekly but have not shown up to my apt in over a month now. Since theres already a horrible roach infestation to begin with, irregular pest control makes the problem way worse.Secondly, the pool has been disgusting for quite some time. I usually take a walk to the park across the street. On my way there I pass the pool. There has been a DEAD BIRD floating in the pool for roughly 3 weeks now. The pool is green and covered with a layer of scum. I really wish that these apartments were more cared for.The best thing about these apartments is the office staff. Poonam and Joe have always been very kind and accommodating. When my fridge was filled with roaches from the back I asked Poonam and received a replacement/new fridge. (I would rather not have the roaches at all but I wont complain about a fridge upgrade). She listened attentively to the issues I was having and asked what I would like done. She is very professional and caring. Office staff always remembers my name and apartment number when I pick up packages. That is the only reason I did not give 1 star.Unfortunately we will be moving out when our lease is up. Its very disappointing because the location is very good, but it is very embarrassing to have guests over and for them to see roaches crawling across the walls. Despite my best efforts of cleaning up, spraying, etc. The smell of the roaches is something that I have to try to cover up all the time. As soon as I get home from work I light candles. They are the german roaches so they smell very nasty... even after I have cleaned and mopped the floor the stench remains.
Adara has asked me to leave a positive review of my experiences with their Whisper Hollow property, but at this point I simply cannot do that. I have been a resident since June of 2017. When I first moved in to my 1bd/1b, my experience was positive. I work in live production (aka I work long/strange hours and I have to travel a lot), and I never had any issues with communication with management, which is important since I can almost never make myself available during the time that the office is open. Since the new mgmt team was put in place, I have had a multitude of issues with communication, payment, and most recently, a transfer from my 1bd/1b to a 2bd/2b with my partner. The first issue arose when Adara switched their payment portal on a holiday weekend right before rent was due, and some residents couldn’t submit a payment. I was notified that I had late charges and that my payment hadn’t gone through, and that now, I’d have to pay in person with a moneygram. Even though my browser history showed me going through the process, they wouldn’t allow me to pay with my bank account on file, which was an issue because - again - I have very little time during business hours to run errands or stop in the office. I still got charged a late fee because I couldn’t make it back into town to pay it within the next couple of days, and my renter’s history was marked with a late payment even though Adara and Whisper Hollow admitted fault. My transfer process has been the worst service I’ve ever received from a landlord entity. It took weeks to move along from any piece of the process because of a lack of communication from mgmt (no calls/emails back, delayed one-sentence responses to multiple questions). I understand that certain steps of the process take time, but it was stretched out for two months. On mornings when I could stop in quickly to pay application fees and sign paperwork before work, employees were late and I had to leave, further delaying the process. After saying that I had to have my apartment inspected by a specific day, the manager didn’t go on the day I scheduled, then promised to come the following Monday. She never showed up and kept coming up with excuses. I had to take time off work to go into the office to complain and have Alex (the only helpful team member) inspect my apartment that day. We didn’t get approved until 5 days before our move-in date. No one sent us the lease ahead of time, so we had to take time on moving day to do the paperwork. When we went into our new apartment for the first time, there was trash on the floor and someone else’s pee on the toilet seat. Mgmt said it was a contractor, but that tells me that they never did a final walk through. We were then delayed waiting for a cleaning person to show up. After all of that and the sudden death of my grandmother (I had to travel back to Ohio for three days right before the move), I was strapped for time and wasn’t able to finish moving out of my apartment by the 1st. Also, Austin Energy and I had a miscommunication and they shut my power off a day earlier than requested, so I couldn’t finish cleaning when I got home from work late in the evening. Despite all of that, they still showed me no sympathy and have charged me more money to stay. I understand that if I’m living in the space still technically, I should pay, but I have a full work schedule for the weekend and they don’t have a drop off and the office is closed on Sundays. Now, they want to charge me for Sunday AND Monday, even though my plan is to drop them off at the time of the office opening, which I was told before wouldn’t count against that day’s rent.To conclude, the current staff have showed me no care or respect for my time, money, and overall well-being. I’ve been offered “I’m so sorry”s with no follow-up actions. No one aside from Alex took any actual initiative to help me until I was already at the end of the timeline. Apologies that are not followed with actions are not true apologies, and I currently would not recommend Whisper Hollow or Adara Communities to anyone.
Upon moving in, my apartment was infested with fleas. It took them about a week to deal with that issue. Since then I have been severely electrocuted by my dish washer, had my water unexpectedly turned off, and now my wifi (almost a week now) is down because my building is infested with rats. The rats have chewed through the wiring so many times that google fiber (a service I paid for) will not come back to fix it because it is pointless until they deal with the rat issue. Ive been told that my building isnt the first one that has had issues due to rats. The property management is very aware of this issue and has failed to act on it.
The worst place ever. I refered a friend and didnt even get the 200 that they said they were going to give me. A bunch of roaches.
Staff are rude and unhelpful and will blatantly lie to you.Such a disappointing experience here! Was told the full deposit was refundable,no strings attached if I decided not to move in.They then refuse to give me my money back for no reason after telling me Id have it back in 2-3 days!
Dont move here they have a very bad pest control problem no matter how clean you are. They need to replace appliances because roaches are able to get in my fridge and get inside my food its so disgusting and i have a baby! They never ever answer their phones! You have to go to the office anytime you need something. You have to request for a maintenance guy 3 times before they actually come or you have to go look for them yourself. The police is here very often for whatever reason as well.. The worst place I ever lived... UPDATE: After complaining about pest control problems they did a viper treatment to the apartment and if anything the roaches have gotten worse so glad I will be moving soon!
Sweet management. Surly but effective maintenance.
My mother lives there and her apt is roach infested. The roaches are horrblie and for the amount of money shes paying these apt shouldnt have as many roaches. She has to spray nightly. I dont suggest the apts due to the roach problem.
This is the worst place I have ever lived. Will update later with links to pictures of the disgusting things (mostly syringes) I would find daily + a video of a woman with her child being harassed by residents and a video of a cop whose car had been hit by a drunk resident while investigating a domestic abuse case. The police arent even safe here.
More like Occasional yelling, car alarms, and loud polka music Hollow if you ask me
This places sucks so bad
It takes more than a month that this is not collected, the smell is unpleasant. 🤢🤮 thus without putting bags for the dogs waste, I have my bags, but others do not carry it and the grass is already seen with too many poop from the dogs
Bad service by the staff I went and the lady who was attending me in a bad way only in the computer was the step ... well I did not withdraw better ... one looking and with those deals do not feel like going,
