Faced some issues with the renewal contract and escalated to the management, got resolved in 2 days and I like the way intervention was provided to resolve the issue. I had no problems with my stay over last 18 months and maintenance is very responsive too. Being in prime location I think Laurel Woods is a great place to live.
We were supposed to move to another complex (bexley to be exact...) and they pushed our move in date to 2 weeks out 3 days before we were supposed to move...super unprofessional. We heard about Laurel woods from a friend and met with the leasing consultant Melissa and it was nothing but great from there on out. Melissa and Alma were so welcoming and helpful and got us moved in super quick. I LOVE our apartment. Such a cute layout. Ive never felt so welcomed at an Apartment complex. So excited to live here and enjoy our apartment π
The staff has been so good to me. From the moment I contacted them about needing a place to live, to the day I arrived and so on. The neighbors have also been really great. Its weird to live in a place where no one fights lol
Water seeps into the bedroom every time there is a strong rain. It doesnt look as though the actual problem will be resolved, however, maintenance does allow us to borrow a fan each time it happens to assist with drying the floor. We wont renew next year due to concerns about mold growth.
When I moved in my apartment was not cleaned. Even after requesting pest control no one showed up and when the billing comes those charges are pre-calculated. Pool is not cleaned for weeks. Mail box gate is often broken. Parking is always a headache to find with average security.
Extremely glad to have left this place. I had continuous problems with the AC during my last year, including a water leak that was still not fixed when I moved out. They charged me for redecorating, in spite of the extensive water damage that would require a complete makeover of the apartment. When I disputed this, they never replied to my email, but later sent a debt collector after me.
Ants...so many ants. Rat and roach droppings in the closet. No rent reduction after not having water for 6 days after the city turned the water back on after the February winter storm. Laundry room is gutted with no washer hookup. Living room had two feet - from the floor - of drywall removed because of water damage. That was two weeks ago and weve had visqueen with holes in it letting our a/c out since. Youll pay full price for part of your apartment.Update 4/10: almost two months after the storm we got our utility closet back in working order. Went to wash our first load of laundry to find out they split the drain hose moving with machine around so much. Two trips to the office resulted in nothing so I guess Ill just go to home depot and buy the replacement part myself that they broke. Also, theres nothing to talk about Melissa. I was told there would no rent forgiveness or reduction because the owners have to pay for all the repairs, like they dont have insurance. 6 days without water. What a joke
There were several issues with our stay here, but Iβll only mention the big one. We were shown a different unit before moving in, as our unit still had a family living there. Upon moving in we were upset to find quite a bit of water damage in the bathroom and kitchen cabinets. When turning in our move in condition form we brought this to the attention of the front office, and they were quick to assure us the cabinets would be fixed. Fast forward a week or so later and there is an entirely new staff. The new staff did everything from making excuses to avoiding us. They had one drawer and cabinet βfixedβ by slapping a new piece of wood over the damage. Then when subsequent request were filed for them to fix the remaining drawers, the ticket would be closed with the notes βcabinets cleanedβ. Not only were the cabinets visibly messy, they left crumbled wood bits in all my dishes. Imagine having to wash a dish every time you want to use it. We moved in to this apartment in September, and while the management used the pandemic later to their advantage in avoiding fixing our cabinets, this issue should have been fixed well in advance. They had well over 5 months to fix it prior!!!
Lets start with the negligence in maintenance. Took them almost a year to replace one light fixture. Ant infested since they decided to cut corners on exterminator while start charging a premium. Manager is rude and seems to not have any urgency. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere
We toured the community back in Jan 2020 and we liked the community, apartment unit. We submitted the application with move in Date in May. Unfortunately, we decided to blackout considering the on going crisis (COVID19). The community manager responded reasonably and they refunded all the application fee, except the 50$ application processing feed. I really appreciate the management and will love to move in again when I the situation is back to normal.
This seems to be a quiet and calm neighborhood. The amenities are nice and easily accessible. Neighbors are friendly and I feel safe walking around by myself.
**Updating the Review after interaction with Melissa.Melissa explained me about the changes taken place in the Apartment Management and Supporting staff. As per her, the old service staff quite from the job and so was this all mess-up.Things are improving after Melissa took over as Leasing Manager and hoping things will be back normal. The biggest plus point of this Apartment is it is surrounded by top schools at all level (elementary, middle and high) and Rent are pretty reasonable.^^^ OLD REVIEW ^^^^Just a month in this community but lots of issues. All things inside apartment are so delicate that Door handle came out just in a week of normal usage. The staff inside leasing office looks to be just for sales. Took 15 days just for getting mail box keys and they forgot too that they didnt handed over the keys after a week of move in.I see $5 fee every month for pest control but never saw pest control in the common areas of community. The service request were closed without getting addressed with comments that my wife was present in house. later when open them again no one comes for repair even after 15 days and leasing staff tried to explain me how I can fix few things by ourselves. If we would fix things my ourselves then we can go to owners house rather than apartments and pay higher rents. Two stars only because its near to high rate school, not sure the decision to move to this place was correct
Unable to uphold preferences/amenities
Im blown away by this awesome little Community called Laurel Woods Apartments in Austin! You are surrounded by everything you need from HEB market,183 freeway and a beautiful green park. Sweet!
Ive lived here for almost two years now and still really enjoy it. Office staff is very friendly and helpful, grounds are very well kept, the newly renovated apartments are absolutely beautiful, and never had an issue with crime. Ive had a few more maintenance requests than I prefer (likely due to it being an older property) but the office staff is quick to respond. Parking can be somewhat of an issue if you have more than a few guests over. Good mix of both younger and older tenants.
Great place to live. Clean, safe, quiet and friendly. I live here with my husband 2 and half year and we love it
Its infested with bugs. AVOID!
This is my second lease term here. In the office Kris is great. But the experiences weve had with one of the other ladies is horrible. Apparently there is no complaint process you just have to take bad attitude. Apartments are older but not horrible. No complaints about the neighbors.
Good community. I moved in a week back and had few things to take care of, which were taken care on time.special thanks to Jenniffer and Kris for making our move smooth.
Apartment is clean and green .Friendly staff . Quick at responding.
Our first apartment here had a problem with bats 4 times, the manager at the time Randi (I guess she got relocated or quit because she isnt here now) did nothing to help with this issue, implying that the bats snuck in somehow as we entered or left...we literally saw a bat poke its head out of the fireplace before flying around our apartment. So we had to transfer because we were not allowed out of our lease without paying $4k in early term fees. The second apartment we got here has a very loud A/C right outside our bedroom window that keeps my husband and me awake all night(they cant figure out how to stop it) now I am sitting here waiting for maintenance to clean up a huge amount of water that seeped out of the wall damaging a leather couch that was given to me by my brother before he passed away. The new manager Jennifer suggested I use our renters insurance for any damage that was caused, sure like when someone crashes in to you in your car you use their insurance not your own. I am continually let down by these apartments and this management company. I would recommend you shop around for a newer place, this place is falling apart.
I lived at this apartment for 3 years β it was fine. I was really ready to leave and start fresh elsewhere though. In that 3 years there was a management turn-over a few times, at the time I moved out they kept my deposit (to be expected) which is fine, but they billed me for a total of a thousand dollars at the end of my lease...the βdamagesβ at my apartment did not warrant that high of a bill. My family is in real-estate and we never have billed a past tenant that amount after they had moved...even when their property was left in way worse conditions. I didnβt even have dogs or a child. I left behind some pots on the porch, but thatβs about it. Itβs no wonder some residents stay stuck and feel as if they have to stay. I hope Avenue 5 re-evaluates this issue. I think itβs totally unfair and this property has quite a few negative reviews already.
I have lived at Laurel Woods for about a year now. It is very small and quiet which I love. I look forward to signing for another year.
Enjoyed the apartment. Was charged bogus cleaning fee upon terminating lease by new management.
Dont move here. They will charge you for every little things when you move out. Parking space is horrible and apartments have mold. If you care about your health DO NOT MOVE IN HERE
Iβm going on my second year with the apartment complex. And up until now Iβve never paid late. This month due to death in my family I needed to pay on the 13th of month. Donβt get wine wrong I knew I would have late fees and prepared to pay them but the manager on top of late fees added an extra $150 in order to not evict me. Because she had to file on me by the 10th of the month. I was so disappointed in them for 3 days they charged me more money even though of my circumstances. Kris is very nice and always helpful but the manager lady all she cares about is how much more money she can gauge you for at least thatβs how this event left me feeling. The apartment complex are old and the maintenance staff is useless. I gave up on asking them to check our stove they always say itβs fine and like I tell them we all donβt cook on high anything under high takes for ever te heat up and the whole top doesnβt heat up. I definitely will not be resigning!
You can find somewhere better to live in the same area for the same price. Dont the let the new exterior paint job fool you -- the building is very old, and theyll probably have to enter your apartment a number of times for maintenance because its so old. It was also a pain to work from home while I lived here because the internet cabling there is archaic - when we purchased our internet package here, the ATT guy literally told me not to buy their bigger internet packages because it wouldnt do any good because the cabling couldnt handle that fast of internet anyways/had a cap to it cause it was so outdated.
My husband I loved living here. A lot. We only moved because he got a job down south, and the commute was awful. The grounds were meticulously maintained. The maintenance guys were top notch--we never waited more than a day for even the most minor issue. The neighbors were great. The noise was low. The only issue we had while we lived there were the girls in the office. They were so incredibly nice when we were signing our lease (cause they were trying to sell us), but after we moved in, they were a little cold. A tiny complaint, I know, and certainly not enough of one to merit a one star review. We wouldve highly, highly recommended them until we moved out.Our dogs are harbingers of destruction. This was the third apartment wed lived in together, and they caused the least amount of damage to this unit. When we moved out of Camden Cedar Hills (which was awesome) our final bill was $90 (after the deposit) and our dogs destroyed the carpet, including the pad, and the fancy wooden blinds. When we moved out of Cityview (also a great place), we owed NOTHING (our deposit covered everything) and our dogs destroyed the carpet down to the concrete AND ate the windowsill (drywall included) in our study. For the two small parts of the carpet that were chewed up at Laurel Woods, theyre charging us $510. We were also assessed an $85 dollar charge for knife marks in the kitchen counter which confused us greatly, as we werent prone to just cutting things on the counter like savages. When my husband called to ask about this charge, the woman he spoke with also mentioned that there were burn marks on the counter, which only confused us more. When my husband brought up that he thought the charge for the carpet was extreme, the woman told him we were lucky she wasnt charging us more. That one really stuck in my craw. This is the 15th apartment Ive lived in since graduating high school, so Im familiar with the move out gouging game, but Ive never gotten it this bad before. Perhaps Ive just been extraordinarily lucky up to this point, but I really doubt it. Its really disappointing. This shouldve been a resounding 5 star review. Dont get me wrong, we are perfectly happy to pay whatever we owe, but feeling like we got gouged leaves a sour taste in my mouth. In summary, if you always leave your apartment exactly as pristine as you found it, this is the place for you. Truly, a great find. But if you have pets or think your unit will be subject to normal wear and tear, buyer be extremely aware.
Great community with high rating school
Good place to live but not if your young, this place has so so management. The maintenance staff is A+ and def friendly.
Love it. Quiet and safe neighborhood.
Bad management but a good apartment complex.
