I took a GMC 1500 to this shop for a transmission rebuild due to a leaking front seal. When I got the truck back it came with a very vague receipt and the bottom of the bed was all beat up. Not sure what they used the truck for but at least they washed out the inside of the bed. The rest of the truck still had dust and greasy paw prints all over it and of course they denied using it for anything. Aside from that the transmission is still weak. The owner David explained upon initially dropping the truck off there that low fluid levels severely damage 4l60e transmissions which I already knew but this was still at least a quart low when I picked it up after repairs and wasn’t wanting to shift into third gear. They stated they would honor the warranty but they didn’t honor the initial quote for repairs so I’ll just chalk this up as a lesson learned. By the way they only accept cash. Apparently when your newly rebuilt transmission quits within 5 miles other forms of payment can be reversed.

TRUST ME, never ever bring your car to this shop! First, they have poor technical skills; second, they will take no responsibility or whatsoever should they damage your car or not able to fix it correctly, they will then lie to you however they can so to get you to spend more money to cover their mess. They are not at all professional and the most dishonest, unethical people who dont care at all the safety of you and your family!

Paid something over $3k for my rebuild. Transmission never really felt right and has been getting worse. Pops out of drive on quick braking and makes some pretty hard shifts with metallic noises.Response to owner:I believe $3200 was the actual total price and I was also surprised at the price for a normal Ford transmission rebuild. At that point I should have taken it elsewhere but y’all had already taken it apart so I felt like I had no other choice. I definitely have the correct shop. I brought my car in for hard shifts, bad noise, and popping out of gear after about two months. Your response was there were no issues, that the sounds and hard shifting were normal and that was the end of the conversation. The car is now basically undrivable. Feel free to come pick up the car in Fort Worth because it won’t make it back down to Austin.

David came in on his day off so that I could pick up my BMW to get back home after traveling to Austin for the week. I am very grateful for his professionalism and going above and beyond for his customer. I have never had customer service like I did here, and appreciated all they did for me. The price was great, the time frame they gave me was also great, and Im very happy I went here!

I have never had to have a transmission repair done before, so when I could tell my Mercedes ML350 was slipping between gears, I did a lot of research on the right repair shop to go to. First I called numerous shops around Austin to get more information on what a transmission repair entails, a rough estimate on pricing, and a time frame. I took my Mercedes to a few shops to have them inspect it, and during both the conversation over the phone and in person at Reliable Transmissions, I felt most comfortable giving them my business. David was extremely knowledgeable about my specific transmission, and he gave me a repair price that I felt comfortable with and was within my budget. He gave me a ride to work so that they could start work on my Mercedes, and they had it finished in a few days, the exact time frame he gave me from the beginning. I was pleased that this repair process went quite smoothly and for my first transmission repair, Im so glad it went so well.

The staff here is straightforward without nonsense in their approach. The customer service is professional and welcoming. In my case, the did not try to take advantage of a person with novice information on transmissions by suggesting extra work that was not needed on my manual transmission vehicle. Thanks +1

I took my Audi to David from an ad that said they specialized in Audi repairs. David was very familiar with the issue that my transmission was having and told me that he also has an Audi with the same problem, so I felt very comfortable doing business here. He had my Audi repaired, tested and back to me in a very reasonable time and I was relieved he could come in early for me to pick it up. Ive been driving it for a few weeks now and I can really tell that its driving like when I first bought it. I am very glad that I gave my business to David and recommend you do the same.

Very thoughtful group of guys. Brown down right before Thanksgiving and they stayed late to get me back on the road. I waited to post a review to see if them doing it fast meant I would have to bring it back. It has been almost a month and I have not had any issues yet. Prices seemed lower then what other shops were quoting also which is why I brought it here to begin with. Overall I would go back to them if I needed a Transmission repaired again.

My Ford Explorer wouldnt go into reverse after backing out of my driveway before work one day. I called around and this shop was close to my home in North Austin and they offered free towing. After I had it towed over they inspected my transmission and called me with a diagnosis and the next step to take. It started as a stressful process of not having my car working right, but dealing with this business helped me to relax and worry less. David offered a great price, warranty and customer service that I will definitely be recommending people I know to go here.

I had my BMW 7 series towed from South Austin to this shop because of the great reviews. My car wouldnt go into gear for forward or reverse so I was expecting worse case scenario. However, Im glad that I brought it here, they were honest and informed me that it was just a leak that caused it to be too low on fluid. They fixed the leak, replaced the filter and put more transmission fluid in it. Now Im able to drive it just fine.

I called around to a few transmission repair shops and got told some very high prices. David offered a free inspection here at no cost to me and was then able to give me a better idea on pricing which beat all the other shops almost by half that I had already been to. Overall I was treated very good here and the guys are very friendly and professional. They even stayed late after hours so that I could pick up my car, I really appreciated that they went above and beyond for me.

I took my BMW X5 to this transmission shop last week and am very pleased with the outcome and their transmission repair. I had been putting off repairing it for a while because I was dreading the cost and time it would take, but must say I had a very good experience here. Not only was the cost less than what I thought it would be, I was only without my car for a few days and they assisted me with a rental car. They offered to show me the damaged parts so I could see for myself that they were repairing my transmission and that it needed to be repaired, and even gave me a ride to and from the rental car store. Overall, this repair process was very stress-free and quick, and I couldnt have picked a better transmission shop to go to for my BMW. I highly recommend you going here for your repairs.

Most personable transmission shop I have visited. I was completely unfamiliar with car transmissions and David walked me through the process of repairing and also informed me of objective details regarding other transmission shops and the benefits he could offer me. I was happy with his initial transmission repair and when my truck had another problem, he towed it for free back to his shop. I have always been pleased with this companies service and prompt replys to my calls and request. I highly recommend this company for transmission repairs.

The transmission went out on my Ford Mustang as I was driving back home to North Austin from a trip to Waco. I was pretty freaked out and didnt know what to do or who to call. I decided to do some research online for shops that were near my house that had good reviews, and Im now leaving another good review for Reliable Transmissions because they really did take great care of me! David was so sincere over the phone and helped me to stay calm while I waited for his tow company to come pick me up. He went over a few of the possibilities of what could have happened to my Mustang and let me know he would check it out for free for me before they did any work. Although this whole thing started really stressful, and I was so worried about what this repair would cost me, I left the shop feeling good about not only the price, but that I had a repair done at an honest and professional shop, that I know I could go back to in the future and they would help me out again.

My Lexus started slamming into gear when it should have been shifting smoothly, and having never needed a transmission repair before, I was pretty worried about the cost of such a repair. I did some research online and then called a few shops. Over the phone, David gave me the most peace that I could trust him and his knowledge with these transmissions. I like that they would rebuild the transmission that was in my Acura, and only fix the damaged parts, the dealership was way more expensive and included parts that I probably didnt even need fixed. All in all, Ive got to say that they did a great job with my car, its driving awesome now and Id say as good as when I first bought it. Im very happy with the repair that they did on my car.

I was having difficulty with my BMW 328i shifting into drive and reverse smoothly, and after calling a few shops to get a better idea on what could be wrong with my BMW, I ended up driving it to this shop. I was impressed with how much they knew about my car, and I waited in their shop while the checked it out for me. They told me that there was internal damage to my transmission. I authorized them to work on my car and the next day I had a timeline and price that the repair would cost, both of which I was happy with. By the time I picked my car back up, the timeline and price were the same as what David told me the first day, and after driving it for a few days now I havent felt any abnormalities or improper shifting. Im very happy with the way this repair went and glad it wasnt as stressful as I thought it could be.

Ive got to admit, I was a little nervous about having to deal with a transmission repair for my Audi A6. Ive had it for almost five years and this was the first big repair I had to have done for it. David definitely seemed to know a lot about the transmission in my Audi in particular, he even gave me a few scenarios on what could be damaged and a price range for them. It was a huge relief when after the inspection he was right and he stayed within the price range he mentioned up front. I did not get ripped off here, thankfully, and their honesty meant the most to me overall.

I saw that they specialized in BMW transmission repairs online so I had my X3 towed in from Round Rock for them to diagnose it for me. I knew that it was going to be a complete overhaul because it wouldnt shift into gear and it was also leaking transmission fluid. I was prepared for the worst but so relieved when David called back in a calm manner explaining which parts could be damaged and a price range I would be looking at, both being better then what I thought it was going to be. He worked on my BMW for a few days and I was able to pick it up on the weekend afterwards, something I really appreciated. I drove it home that day and was relieved that everything sounded and shifted normal again!

I took my Chevrolet Tahoe into another shop and they quoted me $3,200 to rebuild the transmission. While I was looking on the internet I found Reliable in North Austin and when I called they said they had a special and rebuilt it for $1,295. Im a college student and paid $2,100 cash for a transmission rebuild. Within 2 years, the transmission went out. I only put around 40,000 miles on it in total. Really saddened that it only lasted a few miles, when usually a good rebuild lasts up to 100, 000 miles.

I was told about Reliable Transmissions from a friend who had his Audi transmission rebuilt here. I called and made an appointment for my BMW 750li to have the transmission fail safe problem fixed. David was very professional and told me the reason he could not give me a price over the phone is because so many things caused that fail safe warning that lights up. I got a phone call a few hours after I dropped off my BMW for an inspection, and they said my transmission had a leak that needed to be fixed and that was my main problem. I was obviously happy that not only did it not cost what a rebuild would, but I also had it back the next day. The fluid and seal to fix the leak was very reasonable, but the filter I was told is built into the pan and that did cost $125. The price was still half what other shops quoted me, but I also liked how every time I came to the shop they had a BMW, Audi, or some other European car, which gave me confidence that they would know what to look for.

We filed a dispute with the Better Business Bureau in hope of some kind of resolution/mediation with Dave, the owner, but he never responded to the BBB requests. Our entire experience can be read at the BBB website, so I wont rehash that here. I know someone else commented that people dont understand that its tough for a mechanic to pinpoint every issue with a car, and I completely agree. My negative rating is due to the fact that Reliable Transmission gladly takes your money (cash only I might add) and then when the work is not done correctly and you seek a solution, Dave tells you that he doesnt like your attitude and to never return to his shop. It seems that this is a tactic of Daves.I just wanted to make sure my review stated Daves name because if anyone has hopes of dealing with someone in upper management or a more savvy business owner, sorry, but Dave is the owner. Im not sure how he has stayed in business this long. My guess is that he changes the name of his business once the bad reviews increase in numbers. His response to this review will tell you everything you need to know about him.

I am glad I went for a second opinion.

I had my cars engine hydrolock on 10/30/13 and had it towed to Reliable Transmission (referred to as Reliable hereafter). Reliable swapped the engine as well as the clutch assembly and resurfaced the flywheel. I finally acquired my car back almost two months later on 12/31/13.I noticed there was metallic melting smell whenever I engaged the clutch in higher RPM. I didnt notice any other abnormally and assumed it was because the flywheel was resurfaced and clutch was new and some oil and/or metal burned off. About 3.5 months later I noticed significant noise coming from the transmission especially when the clutch was engaged. I brought the car back to Reliable. Reliable claimed the noise was caused by the timing chain and had nothing to do with the transmission. Reliable wanted to swap another engine in order to fix it. I didnt buy it and I continued to question Reliable for days. At last Reliable had to admit that there was problem with transmission but they insisted that the majority of the noise was from timing chain and the engine has to be replaced. Reliable also refused to take responsibility on the transmission problem that caused by them. I thus noticed that Reliable has conducted two business faults: first they denied on their repair issue/responsibility; and second they lied not only on the noise problem but they also lied on the timing chain cant be swapped and the only way to fix the problem was to replace the entire engine.I then brought my car to a different repair shop and the shop found that the noise was caused by the untighten bolts on the flywheel did by Reliable. I had the second shop documented all the details in my receipt and diagnostic report and I also requested back on all the parts that had been swapped out from my car. The second shop replaced the flywheel and clutch and after another 3.5 months of driving, my car run accordingly without any noise or whatsoever. I therefore guaranteed and confirmed on Reliable business faults and file this complaint.RESPOND TO OWNER REVIEW BELOW:Again owner repeatedly provided false information and I have all the documents and evident to prove all that. The engine was shipped to the shop in a few days but it took the shop one month to finally STARTED to look at the engine and unfortunately found that they were not capable to install the particular engine. They requested to get a different engine so no modification was required from their end (they only barely know how to install the engine as is without any slight modification to resolve any obstacle encountered). I ordered and had the second engine shipped to their shop in a few days but again it took them another month to finish the installation. Like I mentioned in the review I took the car back showing them on the spot that the flywheel area was making noise but the owner said its from the timing chain and will have to replace with another engine again. As mentioned in the review I brought the car to a different shop and brought back all the evident that their previous flywheel installation was the root cause but the owner refused to look at the evident or whatsoever. One of the flywheel bolt was not properly tighten up and the vibration caused noise especially when the clutch was engaging the flywheel (i.e. when shifting gear), obviously the owner doesnt know much about car. After I wrote the review, the owner kept harassing me over the phone and text, threaten me of wanting to sue me for writing this review. The owner also called the sheriff and threaten me that the police wanted to take me to the court. I told the owner I was more than happy to deal with him in the court room and that the police is not authorized to bring me to the court without first providing the court summon legal letter to me. I requested the owner to send the legal letter to my lawyer but the owner afraid to proceed any further. I actually spoke with the corresponding sheriff and requested to bring this to the court but the sheriff suggested me to do so via the legal agency. And again I have all the evident with me.
