Several years ago, 2013, we became aware of Total Remodel thru the Frederick County Fair where they had a booth. We made an an appointment to have them come to our home with prospect of building a simple screen porch. Through pressure and suggestions from the salesman at the time, we ended up with $55,000 three seasons room. We have had some problems, but they respond and fix the issues. It is a wonderful room, and finished off well.
I recently met with Kevin Cohen for a quote on a solarium addition. His knowledge and expertise, combined with his easy personality, gave me a great first impression of this company. Since I knew this might be a long-term plan for me, I needed a quote and advice about what might work. Kevin was very respectful of that, and provided great information about financing options available. Looking forward to fitting my addition into my budget!
TRS just installed an attached greenhouse to our home. The project wasnt simple, but they made it easy. Bart sold us on the idea and gave us reasonable and affordable options. Joe and Tom Managed the project and listened and acted on every inquiry. Brian, Rose and the team worked hard, precisely, and with pride for their craft. It is a wonderful addition to our home and we could not be more pleased with the TRS work and team.
We had an excellent experience with Total Remodeling Systems. They were very professional, reasonably priced and completed the work ahead of schedule. We would definitely use them in the future.
Had a new second story deck put up on my home. From start to finish, TRS was always very responsive and the quality of the work was second to none. I feel like my deck will outlast the house! The office coordinator, project manager, sales person, and most importantly the team that did the installation was always on top of everything. If I had a question, they responded immediately. Very impressed and I would highly recommend them.
I love my new shower. The price was right. The installer was great and went above and beyond. I was provided with a door handles that were not part of the normal package. I totally recommend.
Prompt with appointment setting and keeping, beautiful show room with many samples for my home improvement oroject. Staff very friendly, not pushy at all. Helpful with suggestion on best outcome for my Project. Customer follow up outstanding.
I had some unusual needs. The warranty, quality of materials, and the ability to respond to unusual site conditions were big factors for me. I feel like I paid a lot of money for a very good product, like if you buy a Mercedes. Is that better than buying a lesser car for less money? I think so, so Id say it was a reasonable value.
Gordon was able to design a beautiful sunroom and pool in a tight area of a deck. The very complex coordination of schedules, contractors, and the smallest of details was (miraculously) attended to by Steve. The crews were intelligent, funny, dog-friendly, and kept every facet of the project perfect with more than an expected clean-up each day and at the end. Everything turned out perfectly and we couldnt be happier! Thank you TRS! ! !
From start to finish, Total Remodeling Systems were very professional and the entire job went very smooth. Everybody who was involved with Total Remodeling Systems with our project were very friendly and professional. We love our four season room sun room, and it came out better than we could have ever hoped for. We would absolutely recommend this company to anyone!
Everything was completed as agreed upon, so I dont think Total Remodeling Systems fell short in any areas. If I had any questions, I could call and receive a prompt and courteous response. Also, the workers were friendly, knowledgeable and always ready to go the extra mile if required. It has been a pleasure working with Total Remodeling Systems. I have received many compliments on my sunroom and I am enjoying it everyday.
I would give them ZERO stars of NEGATIVE stars if possible. One of the worst contractors we have ever come across. During the sales period the service you get is world class, All your questions are answered very promptly, details provided to your satisfaction and expectations are set. You would think you have come across one of the best contractors in your life. You pay them advance check and then everything goes south. Their attitude changes, their responsiveness goes down. You have to literally push your fingers in their mouth to get a response. In 2014 we were promised that the work will be over by Jan 2015. Since they saw our reluctance to start the work as the timing didnt suite us, they gave us a bait that work MAY be completed in first week of Dec;14. Once the contract was signed, no one bothered to keep in touch with us. It is May15 and the work is still not done. Their executives are rude, arrogant and their responses are as if they are doing a charity on us. Our entire family has suffered due to their attitude and delays. We have lost entire winter and spring season to enjoy the covered deck and I am not sure if we will be able to enjoy the summer. Their team has left our multi-million $$ property in a bad shape and now our neighbors are complaining too.I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THEM EVEN TO MY ENEMIES.
Be aware of Gordon Nichols (sales director). He will get your money and if you are lucky will start the job in 6 months.......Also, do not expect him to return your calls. I had an horrible experience with total remodeling systems and wanted to share my experience so other buyers stay away from them.
Too many wheels turning for the number of projects. Project manager was over tasked. Don’t expect to see them more than once a week to ensure quality workmanship from work crews. I had 3 crews show for 2 jobs. One crew was very inexperienced and needed supervision. Still working through a leak in a roof that was installed 6 months ago. Great people but highly overtasked supervision.18 month post construction update: no fix for the original leak. new leak on opposite side of gable in the saddle. Has destroyed the ceiling/insulation of my dining room. Lost over 20k and my roof. Good luck.In response to owner comments.Hopefully the issue (see pic) can still be resolved.Update: 3 trips to come out and see what happened over the course of the last 3 months. Still not fixed. The leak got much worse and started to migrate into the next room. Was told by Erin she would get right back with me 2 weeks ago today when the person/persons that were supposed to fix it were rescheduled 3 more times. I had to call every time to find out what happened. So least week I went up there myself and sealed it up. Took 15min and a trip to Lowes. My dining room ceiling is ruined.
Made an appointment to have someone come out to give me an estimate on an addition. They could not schedule the appointment until three weeks after my call. They did not tell me I had to confirm the appointment. The day before the appointment I was traveling and the day of the appointment I took off work and when the appointment time came around no one showed up. I called the company and a very snotty young woman named crystal told me that since I had not confirmed the day before they did not keep the appointment. Clearly this company does not need my business and acted completely unprofessionally. I would recommend all to stay clear since this company is totally unreliable.
This company is a complete and utter waste of my time. A senior designer came out to give me an estimate. He didnt even bring a catalog because he couldnt be bothered with these small jobs. He insinuated that it would be out of my price range, even thought I assured him his price estimations were doable. He also made sure to let me know that he deals in big renovations and was surprised that such a tiny job is needed (I only needed 2 doors replaced). This is 2 hours of my life I will never get back.
We had your company build our solarium. It has been a year since it was quote finished. It is still leaking...... It has been fixed numerous times. It is leaking worse than ever. .. Are you going to fix it or do we have to .......
Total Remodeling Systems senior designer Mark Dreyer came to our home a month or so back and I wish I had given a review earlier! Yes, he does sales but he was honest, nice, and did his absolute best to work with our budget. I have worked in customer service/ hospitality forever and I always critique the way every business is with customer service and hospitality, I have to say Mark Dreyer was very honest with us which is what made us love him even more. He is an outstanding person, we wish we could have had him stay for dinner that night 🙂 employee of the week, month, year... Mark Dreyer thank you!
Great company! Their process during construction is wonderful! I recommend them to my family and friends.
We had our 25 year old sunroom totally restored. It was expensive but it’s now a new 4 seasons room. Repairs with the previous company were very disappointing. TRS have state of the art skills, knowledge and customer care.
The quality of work was exceptional. The project manager was quick to resolve any questions, no matter how minor the question. The team took pride in their work.
Beautiful work. Great team. Answered any and all questions I had.
Do not use this company. 6 months ago we were promised a sunroom by July 15. This company did not even get the permits in 6 months! They use high pressure sales tactics and follow-up with a dismissive, arrogant approach to the client. They blame the DCRA for delays, when it was their errors in filing that caused the project to never be approved. If you are a DC resident they will require you to do the permitting process. Find someone less expensive and willing to help for your addition.
I contracted in January to purchase a Liferoom from TRS. I think as another person commented, the sales process is very high pressure. I didnt really see a problem with this at the time, perhaps partly because I felt like I was buying a product more than a service but - for $40K - the salesman and frankly the delivery team should know the product well. And really no one should be selling a $40K product like a $500 washing machine. We have also been misinformed about a number of aspects of the product every step of the way. And there is clearly no long term support. I have currently been trying to get the company to my house for 6 weeks to remedy a roof leak caused by them that I have been trying to get them remedy since May. I believe that this company is likely perfectly capable of installing prefab patio covers and screen roofs that attach to the side of your house -.but dont let them cut into your existing structures as we did. And I believe that the majority of our woes were caused by a project manager who could not perform his job - which the company owner personally apologized for. But the fact of the matter remains that 3-4 months later I have an unresolved leak into my garage caused by their shoddy work. Work that I discussed personally with the project manager while the garage roof was still open. So, again, while I appreciate the company owner personally extending me a 2 year guarantee on the labor - that guarantee is worthless if Ive been trying now for 6 weeks to get someone at my house and I get no response. Every step of the project was delayed - a project I was told would take 2 weeks took 3-4 months from when they broke ground to finish. I was typically never informed of when someone was showing up at my house, what was going on, etc....the project manager even had the audacity to claim that I had actually been quoted an 8-12 week project timeframe...perhaps he had plotted such a thing out; if so, it was never presented to me. And perhaps someone should tell the salesperson not to pronounce 2 weeks as the project timeframe. The only thing the company was ever prompt about was asking for their next check. They failed inspections 2-3 times over - which was one of the big delays in the project. And in the mean time - heavy construction materials were left leaning against my fence. massive piles of dirt killed the grass in my yard, a gap hole they made in my garage roof was left uncovered for weeks, siding and flashing was ripped off my house and left like that for weeks. I will say that the electrician that they subbed to was great - introduced himself, explained what he was doing, and passed inspection right away. And the team that actually came in to install the prefab product was also fine. But the overall execution has been beyond horrible, and now I will probably have to pay a roofer to redo their leaky roofing / siding job. I was hopeful when 6 weeks ago I had a few people reach out and seemed to suggest theyd get someone out to look at this leak which is still not resolved. But that was wishful thinking. I might also mention that when I look up at the ceiling of my Liferoom there are lots of spots where they just randomly stopped caulking ….they basically just wear you down....after 5 months of me managing this project when I thought I paid $40K for this service, I just want to be done with it. I again appreciate the company owner personally apologizing to me, but I was told that there was a new project manager that was going to fix everything / finish up the project. Instead - their handyman came over by himself for a day and I pointed out all the things that remained as apparently no one had informed him. Never heard from the new project manager. I attempted earlier in this project to complain to BBB and Angies List - the company never responded. I am attaching a photo I provided to the company in mid-July when I advised them that their handymans caulk job didnt solve the problem. Photos and videos documenting the leak have been sent to the company all summer.
Great experience
I was most satisfied with their professionalism. The project manager was very accessible.
If you want people that will lie to you and perform slipshod work these are the guys for you. The caulking had a million leaks even after I called them back. During the sales pitch they were bragging about how the had so much experience sealing windows and doors. It turns out their experience is doing a terrible job. Also, They showed up with cheaper doors than what we had agreed on. If you hire them expect to complain, complain, complain.
I contacted Four Seasons Sunrooms, and they referred me to Total Remodeling. I had also picked up their brochure at an Arlington Home Show last year. They showed up every day, and all of their workers were very competent . It was obvious that they had built many additions like mine.
Horrible experience! Do not use this company! The sunroom completion date was 2/2/14 and it is still not finished. They sent a subcontractor in to my home that did a horrible job. After many e-mails I was able to get the name and an appt. with Mike Gordon the general manager. He agreed that the job was not the custom work that I was promised and he would fix it. He then brought in Mike Malone and his crew and they saved us! He was unable to save any of the trim or cedar on the outside of the house. They had mixed #1 and #2 trim even though they knew I was planning on staining it. He had to rip off all the trim boards because the window heads didnt line up because the windows were installed wrong. After he straightened the windows, he was able to trim them properly. He also had to remove and the casing around the doorway jams and header due to large gaps that could not be fixed without starting over. They had installed a damaged PTAC (heating and air) unit that arrived in pieces and all the hardware was missing. I insisted on a new PTAC that was not damaged and in the box and he had to remove the old one and install the new one. Then he had to rip all the cedar off the outside of the house because the first crew used trim nails to apply it and it also was not level. He had to re-apply the cedar because when the trim nails rusted, they would stain the cedar and the cedar would eventually fall off. So he applied new cedar with stainless steel nails to fix the problem. I could go on and on but I think you get the picture. They did come in and fix the job but it was a horrible experience that left me with multiple sleepless nights and regret.
Timely completion, excellent quality, highly recommended.
Horrible company do not use
I was generally satisfied with the whole job.
They are very disorganized at least the final result it is very good
Worked with the company and they fixed all of the issues we were having.
