A friend and I had a pre-booked appointment for 5:30, they did not start on us until 6:20 when they overheard us say we were going to leave shortly. Then the real horror began. Upon arrival I showed that I have short big toenails and asked for tips to be glued over top of the entire nail. Not long tips, just enough for my toenail to look somewhat normal. I typically do my pedicures at home but this was a gift pedicure from a friend. I only say that to show that I’ve done this before, the tip glued to the nail lasted a month, all was fine. I pulled it off only for this experience. They were going to do acrylic before I stopped them and reupped the request for a tip, not acrylic—I’ve gotten infections from using acrylic at salons so I stay away. It was around this time one of the technicians pressed so hard on my natural big toe, I winced and my eyes watered. I said as much that that hurt and they all laughed. It was around now that the chatter surrounding my appointment grew. They honor my request for a tip but glue it to my toe skin, not my actual nail—it will certainly fall off upon first long walk or bath is my guess. And it’s much longer than I asked for. I had to ask them to shorten it three times, it was still twice as long as I asked for but I was frustrated enough that I left it alone and they were obviously done doing anything in the realm of customer service for me. They did not shape the added nail so I cut it to my preferred length and shaped it upon getting home. Additionally, they soaked and scrubbed off a scab I had on the top of my foot and now have a reopened wound. Given the lack of cleanliness of the place (flies, mosquitoes, creepy crawlies), I hope my foot doesn’t fall off. I sincerely wish I could give zero stars. Do not come here for a clean or good pedicure.
I hate to write negative reviews because, I get it, its hard to offer the customer service people demand these days and it can be hard to find quality employees to offer said services. I tried with Mimosa Salon, I really tried. I called and made 2 appointments for pedicures at 5:30 to go with a friend-- we arrived at 5:20. We were told to pick a color and wait three minutes-- when I say that I did not start receiving a treatment until 6:12 I am not lying. The only reason she started was because I told my friend that at 6:15 we had to go, it had just been too long. There were 3 people who walked into the salon after us and they said the same three minutes and tried to service everyone at once. They were clearly short staffed, which I empathize with, but with appointments and waiting an hour, it was just so egregiously long. There were mosquitos and bugs flying around everywhere and while we were offered water upon arrival, we really just sat in two chairs for 50 minutes waiting for them to start our service. The quality of my pedicure was fine-- I wouldnt say it was remotely the best I have ever had, but probably not the worst. She did dig into my cuticles and nails intensely and when I asked her to be gentler, she seemed annoyed. To be honest, the entire time they seemed annoyed with us despite us waiting an hour for a service and being extremely patient. Then my friends pedicure started and to be honest, it was appalling. They scraped off a scab she had and she was openly bleeding, glued tips to her literal skin and wouldnt file the nail down, and when she asked them to change it they fought with her on what she was doing. We were in the salon for 2 hours for 2 basic pedicures-- I will absolutely never go back here and you are better off spending your money elsewhere. They did not seem remotely interested in offering quality services or working with their customers.
Use only in case of an emergency because they do stay open late - which is a plus - so they get a star for that. Other than that go somewhere more professional, better communication and customer service - plenty of good nail salons in DC!
One of the best pedicures ive ever had ! me and my brother came and got the VIP EXPERIENCE PEDICURE and it was nothing short of amazing, with bottomless mimosas and amazing massages this establishment is a MUST VISIT !! ask for Zara tell her Harley sent you ❤️
Awful customer service. I came three times, said to come back in 30 minutes, and then the last time I came back they told me they were closed. Never again.
Please do not go here!! First time ever getting my nails done from here and my nails turned yellow and broke in the center of my nails! Nail tech blamed me!
Guys please al pick your receipts and have a look at it always before leaving this place . A girl at the saloon I gave her a 10 dollar tip after service but she added to herself a 32 dollar tip after I said no don’t give me the receipt, I knew I could just check from my bank app from my phone, but the way she acted something seemed off .😳 before I left the door I asked her I went back and asked if I could have the receipt . I was really shocked and she didn’t apologise I informed the store manager but they acted like she might have just made an error !!!?!!
Lovely salon with outdoor pedicures, reasonably priced. Staff wore masks consistently and offered contactless payment!
Love this place. Highly recommend!!
This is not the same. Why Mai and husband leave? tell where did go?
Had a fantastic experience here, Vicki was awesome and everyone was very kind. Great color and services selection. Will come again!
This place is a hack. Not only are the nail techs rude and abrasive, I walked out of there with FIVE bleeding cuticles. I even asked the tech to be more gentle and she blamed MY nails for their bad shape and wasnt even contrite or offer me an ointment. My gel extensions looked like a hack job and I was so disappointed. This place is also so crowded you are practically tripping over everyone to move around. Will not be going back.
I visited this shop a few days ago, it open super late and I absolutely love it here. The technician assigned to me was gentle and meticulous!!! Best 45$ I ever spent, Ill be back
The young and very professional owner runs a fine shop. It offers all the expected amenities -- with a genuinely pleasant atmosphere. His clients leave contented, having been well-treated by staff who are themselves well-treated. His clients appreciate his efforts to please them. Good work!
I would give this salon 0 stars if I could. My friend made a reservation for manis and pedis for 6 of us. They seemingly only had enough technicians for 4 people, but didn’t communicate that to us. As a result, one of the women left and I ended up waiting almost 2 hours to be helped. I was only getting a regular mani. On top of the incredibly long wait time, the staff was extremely rude. A few other people came into the salon after us and the staff tried to help them first even though we had been waiting almost an hour at that point. We had to point out our wait and how we were there first, and almost had to argue to “convince” them of this. The cherry on top was the woman painting her own nails in the pedicure chairs. Since she was helping herself, wearing the same uniforms as the other technicians, and even talking to them in a friendly manner, it’s only logical that she works there. Who else paints their OWN nails at a nail salon. I wanted to tip my technician so I asked this woman if she knew where she was. She responded with attitude “I don’t work here” and then when I apologized and explained why I thought she did, her rude response was “I can talk to the staff and not work here.” This is true; however, if you’re painting your own nails at a nail salon that’s usually an indicator that you work or have some association to that place. Suffice to say, I will never be going back here.
I never usually leave poor reviews, but my last experience at mimosa salon on R ST was just that bad.I went at lunch on a Wednesday with an appointment and got a gel manicure. All was going really well until the woman started cutting my cuticles on my left hand. Boom, blood everywhere. My pointer finger was butchered but I kept saying it’s no big deal, it will stop. After an hour... that’s right, an hour for a gel manicure... should have been 30 min max (didn’t even have gels to remove), my finger was still bleeding. She painted every other nail except my pointer and then went to go paint my semi blood covered nail.I decided to come back the next day when I realized there was blood until the hair polish that wouldn’t come off. That’s when it got bad- I walked it, expecting someone to recognize me. For goodness sake, I was just there 24 hours prior. A woman that worked there, that I had been sitting next to for the hour the previous day, very rudely asked me if I had a receipt from the previous day. As if to prove I had been there the day prior. I asked her if she didn’t recognize me, and she just asked if I had a receipt again, in front of customers.Luckily, a man that works there recognized me and said something to the woman.I tried to find the nail color that matched what I had on- asked for some assistance and another woman that works there VERY rudely exclaimed “what? You don’t remember what color you chose? You were here yesterday ha-ha”After the man found the color I supposedly had on my fingers. I continued to then have one finger fixed. After one coat, and approaching two coats, I pulled my hand out of the machine and it was completely the wrong color. The woman laughed like nothing was wrong.Long story short, there were extremely rude, unhelpful, arrogant AND I was there for ONE hour for ONE finger, that’s also painted the wrong color- and they did nothing to try to fix it.Never going back.
This salon has become my favorite spot to get a gel manicure in DC! There are many skilled technicians there and they all are extremely attentive and do a thorough job (not to mention generous pours of complimentary champagne), leaving me with a manicure that looks as good as day one 2-3 weeks later. Jonathan and Nam are my go-tos!
Having tried MANY nail salons in DC and Mimosa, without any doubt, does the very best job. They are efficient, reasonably priced and always incredibly friendly. I never leave there disappointed and my gel manicures look just as good 2-3 weeks later.
I went there because they took over a Groupon deal from another salon. So happy I went to them and not the other guys. I got a haircut and partial highlights. My stylist Nicky was great, offered great suggestions, and created the perfect fall/winter look. All this plus a glass on wine in my hand for the appointment.
I was given a gift card for my birthday and tried to redeem it for the first time today for a pedicure. The technician told me it had no record on it, it was supposed to have a $50 balance and my friend has the receipt of charge. No one knew what to do so I paid for the service out of pocket. Very upsetting experience
Found an article high lighting it so I wanted to give it a try. The environment was okay and staff was relatively friendly but the gel manicure wasnt the best. Additionally they pulled the tools out of what seemed to be a personal bag. I can in no way say that werent sterilized but I prefer salons where they have them sealed. Not the worst place ive ever been to but with so many options Im the city you dont really have to settle.
I came here to get a gel fill in. When I called to ask for price the guy on the phone told me that for a fill in it would be $35 but when I was ready to pay the lady charged me $50 which is the price for a whole new gel set according to The guy I spoke to On the phone. The man on the phone also said that I could walk in and be out in no time which also turned to be a lie. I had to wait for an hour and they seemed uninterested in anything I was saying. The lady asked me if I wanted something to drink i answered her that water would do since I’m pregnant and she said she had no water and instead offered me champagne. No no no!!! On top of that, this place has a very racist feeling to it. Two white ladies came in for manicures after me and they were attended right away as I had to wait an hour.
The worst pedicure I have ever gotten. At first she didn’t even cut my toe nails and started to file. I asked her to cut them down. She did as I requested, but cut them so short and unevenly. Additionally, she pulled tools out of a personal box not from a sterilized pouch like at other salons. I regret not leaving. I just hope I don’t get an infection. Terrible service all around.
Great service and attention to detail. If you chip your nail, go back within 5 days and the will fix it for free.. and still give you a drink! They are great!
Always a treat to go here! Prices are right and seevice is top notch. Dont be afraid to ask for anything.
Love this salon. They are quick and professional and do a phenomenal job. Services are a great deal and it’s the only nail salon I go to in DC!
I brought my daughter to get her nails done and was never told the wait would be more than 30 minutes long. After 30 mins no one helped us so we left. Took her to a different place around the corner (Debby Harper) which will be my go-to place from now on. I am disappointed I wasted so much time when I had a few errands to run which I didnt complete.
I’ve gone here to get my nails done every two or so weeks since I moved to DC (a little over a year ago). The service and quality of the manicures/pedicures have significantly declined. After the awful job they did yesterday, I will never be going back.
Wow! Fantastic job. I walked in and was taken care of immediately, welcomed with a smile😀 My nail tech was so gentle with my hands and feet, the polish was flawless, and the atmosphere was so relaxing. This place is a Gem 💎
They were fast. Decent service. But they were not the friendliest. I felt very rushed when I entered and barely had time to pick the nail polish I wanted or review the options available. But my pedicure came out pretty nice. I wish they was more consistency with how the pedicure is done though. My friend had more scrubbing of her foot done versus my attendant, who gave like two swipes and was done.
Nice place and clean but the water was cold for pedicure. Each time they would ask is the water warm enough and I would tell them that it is cold. At least give me warm to hot water for pedicure. How else are you going to soften the skin to scrub dead skin?????
Steve at Salon Rouge has cut my hair for years now. He does an excellent job. I would not trust anyone else.
These people are unfair and very racist. The first time I came in to have a mani pedi there was no other customers and I was asked to pick a color. While I was picking a color two other Caucasian ladies came and were serviced before I was. I needed up leaving without being service. Now I only wanted one nail painted and these ladies want 15 dollars!!!! For what. Please people stop going here.
My favorite Mimosa salon to go to. I love the employees, I can always find a parking spot, surprisingly in that neighborhood. The work is alway quality and the pour is generous 😉
Im confused why they never confirm appointments here. I did not go to an appointment submitted online because I had no confirmation e-mail. But still received a thank you email for the appointment I never had? Also, perhaps they should stop writing generic apology replies to the poor reviews left on this forum, and start working on fixing the problems. Based on the other reviews Ive read, it appears they have a little work to do in the customer service department.
I’ve been going to this salon for the past few months. Compared to other salons in the area, they’re fine. I like that they’re open late and they work pretty quickly. I understood because they work very fast I may not receive the quality of artistic design or quality in general but for the convenience, I was willing to accept that. My last experience was so terrible; however, that I will not be returning to them ever again.1) I made an appt for 4pm but they couldn’t take me for 30 min.2) The technician, her name is Mimi, started on my pedicure. I didn’t realize until we were nearly done that she never trimmed my toenails. They were obviously too long and needed to be cut but she just skipped that and when I asked her to fix it she halfheartedly tried to file them down and feigned ignorance as if what she did was perfectly normal. I’ve never received a pedicure where they didn’t just cut them automatically or ask me if I wanted them cut down.3) My manicure was horrible but by the time she started on my hands I was already running late and just didn’t even bother to complain at this point. First, she got paint all over my nail bed. She even got paint on the inside of my hand, which I didn’t know was even possible! And because it’s gel it won’t scrape away so it looks terrible. She also failed to clean the inside of my nail, which is pretty standard but again was running late so didn’t even ask at this point. Lastly, the design I asked for I kept trying to explain what I wanted. It is literally a simple ombré which is a blend of the glitter up the nail. She kept doing it straight across as if she was putting on a French tip and no matter how many times I tried to explain she never got it4) So when I got home that evening I had to clip my toenails and add glitter to my fingernails the way I wanted but there was nothing I could do about her sloppy work of painting my cuticles and not cleaning the underside of my fingernails.5) I am pretty sure that was her first day. But if you go to this place please be aware the quality is mediocre at best, and poor when it is someone untrained. And definitely do NOT allow Mimi to do your nails otherwise you will be very unhappy!!!
AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Truly a horrific experience. I got the dip nails on a Wednesday and by Thursday one had come off. I came in and they fixed it and then over that weekend the rest started to all chip. I called them and they said that in order to get a refund I would need to come in. When I came in the next day and explained the situation the manager proceeded to yell at me that they don’t give refunds and that I could only get a gift card. I explained how I just wanted my money back, because of all the time and energy spent into this situation and she rolled her eyes and said of course not. After a long day, I was near tears, but her and the other manager, Nikki, proceeded to say rude things and wanted me to stand outside so that the other customers couldn’t hear... I have never experienced such dishonesty and rudeness.
This was the worse place ever. My nails were done very sloppy, rough, and I ask for dark blue and got purple. Save your money this place is not the worth the trip. Very disappointed.
Great prices, tons of colors to choose from, professional and meticulous staff, and prompt service. The champagne was also a plus.
Close quarters but wonferful service. Quaint atmosphere with snacks snd Champagne...cant go wrong!!!
Great service in warm, friendly ambience. Skilled staff of hairstylists who work collaboratively for pleasing results.
Ive lived a few blocks away for a couple of years now and its one of the closest nail salons to me but I had to stop coming here. Prices keep on getting higher and dont think the quality matches the price even with a glass of champagne
This was first time getting my nails done here. They hurt my cuticles and caused bleeding. They also look crooked and the color looks terrible. Costs $85 and I could have done better myself. AVOID GOING HERE
The staff is very polite! They make you feel right at home!
The quality of my gel manicure is wonderful and the staff are very kind. I had made an appointment online, but still had to wait 30 minutes for my manicure this past Saturday.
Nice friendly environment and a pretty good price considering other salons
Fast, friendly, and do a nice job. Always my go-to for a pedicure!
This place was terrible. I walked in for a mani and pedi and found myself being discriminated agonist. I walked in then 2 other women (white) walked in after me. The girl running the front and assist customers assisted both of the white women before me. I’ll never go here again!
One of the worst pedicures I have ever had. The lady who did it was very rough, cut off chunks of my skin from both big toes along with the cuticules. I wouldn’t go here again.
This is the only nail spot I go to now. I went for lunch got a gel mani and regular pedi in less than an hour and a half.
Clean, friendly neighborhood spot! Andy is my personal fav!
Great staff, prompt service
Not very friendly when I arrived, and after 3 days my gel manicure it is already starting to peel!
Wish I could give 1 star
Love this salon, I will be back.
Service can be hit or miss. They seem to have gotten worse lately.
Service was great
Nam is awesome!
Horrible customer service
My go-to for pedicures
