My repair was for insurance replacement of my engine. The shop would not call me for anything during the whole process. After repair was finally finished i found several things broken on truck that was not broken before the repair, to include my parking brake pedal assembly that is no longer made and took me a month to find one. Fluids were not topped off and overall the craftsmanship of repair was poor from a shop that specializes in my type of truck. I will not be recommending this shop to anyone.
If you own a diesel engine truck, this is the place to take it. Im done with dealers who over charge and tell me there is nothing wrong.Adam and crew provide quality repairs and dont rip you off. They may not be able to answer the phone every time you call because they are probably working on your vehicle.
This was the best experience at a repair shop! Adam and his guys were fast, professional, informative and reasonably priced! Definitely will be a repeat customer! Awesome place!
Took my truck here and they took amazing care of me and getting my truck back on the road and running great again highly recommended!!! Adam and all the guys who work there are so knowledgeable and SUPER NICE!!! i appreciate all the work they did & will continue to go to them & recommend then to everybody. Small business’ are the best ☺️!
Adam is the only one that I ever let touch my trucks! Over the years he has done tons of headstand jobs, full motor builds, and transmission builds. He just got done doing the stage 2 solutions package on my 6.0. I dropped it off at 7am Monday morning, and drove it home at 5pm Tuesday afternoon! Awesome service!
Just want to say that the guys over at Back Bay Diesel did an absolutely fantastic job replacing my injectors with some Warren Diesel 175/stock premiums and they also completely rebuilt my transmission in house. Everything was done in a timely manner and at a very fair price. Needless to say, my truck is shifting better than it ever has before. Looking forward to bringing them a lot more of my business and hopefully bringing along some others with me. If you need a good shop in Virginia Beach or the surrounding area don’t hesitate to call Back Bay Diesel!PS. Just when I thought they were finished with my transmission, my belt shredded at the end of the test drive only to find that my harmonic balancer had split in half. Didn’t slow them down one bit. They had it fixed and back to me the next morning.Thank you again guys!
Be careful with this place. Would consider powerstroke performance or any other shop before falling into this trap. My truck went in 6 months ago to the day. Was told it would be a month turn around. 6 months later and more than $1100 over budget from what they told me it would cost, a guy walks out and sprays starting fluid into my engine to get it to start..... I paid $7400 for them to purchase and put that engine in. Glad to see it needs starting fluid to fire. All the other comments about poor customer service and hard to get in touch with are 100% true. Owner will blame everything on the guy he just fired or the guy who just quit and left us short handed I have heard it all over the last 6 months. Good Luck.
Run from this place. Had my truck 6 months to replace a head gasket. Told me it would be two months. Hard to get in touch with. They do not return calls. Had all the excuses in the world from really busy to lost a mechanic. Changed the store hours out of the blue. I spent 7,000 dollars there 6 months ago and I call him now looking for a simple part twice and he wont even call me back, says he is waiting on a quote, lol . Very bad customer service. I just hope my engine last. Not even sure he put in performance injectors that I wanted. I called the company he said he used and they said he has not ordered any thing in a long time. I dealt with Adam for a long time over concerns with my truck and always tried to be nice but the customer service there pretty much is he does it when he wants, if he gets to it.
Great shop! Quality work at a fair price. Only place I will take my F-350Made appointment to have the brakes and rotor replaced on my F350. Dropped off and out in 3 hours. Second time I have taken my truck to Back Bay Diesel and both times excellent service. Awesome shop!
Back Bay Diesel did some maintenance on our Ford Excursion. They are professional and worked in a timely manner. I would highly recommend this business!
I have worked with Back Bay Diesel for over 7 years to maintain all of our work vehicles. They are top quality with amazing prices, and I would never go elsewhere! 5 Stars!
We were screwed over by another diesel mechanic in the area and Back Bay said they could take care of us. 5 weeks, no phone calls, had to hound them for updates. Was put on hold for 20 minutes one time. I got my truck back last week and it was better, but not 100%. I have been looking into other mechanics but how do you know you picked a good one?? I better pick one soon becuase right now Im stranded at the gas station waiting for a tow because my truck wont shift out of park. Thanks for screw over number 2. The mechanics are very nice, but totally overworked and under staffed. If you want to keep my truck for 5 weeks, fine. But tell me ahead of time! And update your clients!
They know their stuff. Awesome people, awesome service. Will definitely deal with them again.
Thanks for the quick turn around on doing the injectors in my 7.3! Fast service!
Took my f250 in there because it wouldnt start. 3 hours after they opened they had it diagnosed. Found multiple odds and ends loose or missing and replaced for free. Gave me the option to save money and buy the high pressure oil pump j needed online and put it in. Saved money and the truck runs fine. Even boxed and taped up my core return for the oil pump for me. Good service.
They had our truck for almost a month. Had to call every day after two weeks to get updates. Spent $3,000 and one month later have the same problem.
These guys had me squared away and out the door in less than 10 minutes and charged the right price. Thanks Steven et al... BBD got me back on the road.
Absolutely unacceptable customer service. We made appointment for diagnostic as they suggested. Two weeks later spoke with Adam. Busy ... Understand... Business owner myself. Waited another two weeks, no one calls back or answered our phone calls. Stopped by myself and spoke with Adam again, told him we can pay few timer more what they charge for diagnostic. Month later tried to call 5-6times, left multiple voicemails - no answer no one called me back. Had to send tow truck to get vehicle back. After waiting 2.5 month huge disappointment... Will never bring any business again or suggest this place to anyone. Stay away from this place!
Had injectors done and was a great experience, friendly and at a good cost!
Vinny’s cute as hell
These guys are top notch guys. I came in on a monday afternoon i was told to come back on tuesday at 8 and they would be able to work on my truck. See i am an out of town person without any support nor did i know anyone to work on my truck. I showed up at 8 and he quickly diagnosed the problem and went right to work.the issue was a hole in the charge pipe and a bad injector. After taking the time he also noticed that my coolent tank had a small crack in it. By the time they got all the parts they had me back out on the road by 12 noon. In my book these guys are stand up guys and know what it means to get the job. Done. I was 625 miles from home and got the same best service from them as i would my own mechanic. Thanks guys for a job well done!!!
I bought an 08 f250 and from the start it had a few issues so I brought it up to back bay diesel and Brandon immediately checked it out and let me know it was the oil cooler. We went over a few options and I set up the repair and additional addons. From the start they have treated me fair and have taken care of my truck. I had a few more issues and they are always willing to help me out and have always gone over and beyond. i personally wouldnt use anyone else
I was going to buy a diesel pick up from a local dealer, so I took it to Adam to look at before the purchase. Adam showed me that the dealership had lied through their teeth about the car. I will buy a diesel soon (not from the lying P.O.S. dealer) and no one will work on it but Adam. Hes a good dude...
Needed an oil cooler replaced in my 6.0 powerstroke. I did my research online as to how to properly flush the coolant system as well as what parts are needed to replace the cooler. My deltas before the replacement was 16 degrees apart after driving 65mph on a flat surface for 15 miles (ect=194 and eot=211). I gathered this info using torque pro app. Before I tested I let the truck sit for about 20 hours to get the cold soak reading. The eot and ect was 2 degrees apart.I bought the oem oil cooler, both updated turbo pipes, restore, restore plus, 25 gallons of distilled water, 4 gallons of rotella elc coolant, and a few other various parts the internet recommended I replace while doing the job.I drop the truck off and Adam was nice enough and said not to worry, we will get you fixed up. Three days later I pick up the truck. I drive it home using my torque pro app. Ect=194 and eot= 217. I had that bad feeling in the pit of my stomach. How can the oil cooler clog that bad within 30 miles of driving the truck. The same day, I was leaving to go out of town for the weekend. The truck sat home while I was gone. I get home Sunday and went to check the coolant level. The degas bottle was empty. I added two gallons of 50/50. I noticed coolant pouring out of the bottom of the truck. It didnt leak when I drove it home so I really have no idea why it leaked then. So I call back bay diesel and spoke to Cole. Hes the one that worked on the truck. Explained whats going on and they decided to come get the truck. They took it back and fixed a hose that ruptured. Adam said it wasnt their fault and said it just failed. Tried to charge me 2 hrs labor to fix it. We worked out a deal that if I came and got the truck, they wouldnt charge me.Two days later I pick up the truck and leave. This time its loud and sounds like its sucking air. I call and tell them something isnt right and turn around and drive back. I tell Adam to drive it. He does and he pulls the truck into a bay. He said a turbo clamp on the exhaust was loose.I leave the shop and the truck sounds great and runs great. During the 45 minute drive home Im watching the deltas. When I get home ect=194 and eot=232.At this point I knew back bay diesel was the wrong place to have taken the truck. The next morning I empty the coolant myself and notice a lot of foam like a bubble bath as Im draining the coolant. I get on Google and research. They must have used the restore and Im hoping the restore plus, but they didnt flush it afterwards enough. I pull the two block plus, and the lower radiator hose as well as the peacock plug and flush it with tap water for over an hour. I filled it with tap water, drove it and drained it. Still lots of bubbles. I did a fill, drive and flush 4 more times and wasnt able to get rid of the all the foam. It was much less, but still present. The long day of flushing is coming to an end as its getting dark. I bought and added 3 1/2 more gallons of rotella elc coolant. I drive the truck a few minutes and top off the coolant. Once it leveled out and wasnt burping anymore coolant I took it out for the delta test. 65mph flat surface for 15 to 20 miles. Ect=194 eot=223. So its better than 232, but still much higher than it originally was. Im really upset as this was $$$$ to do and the truck is worse now than it was before the cooler was replaced.Oh and lastly, I found their shop phone in my engine bay. Unbelievable.
Thanks for the great work you did on my 2006 Ford Super Duty 6.0 diesel truck. My truck has never ran this good since I first got it in 2008.
Not bad work
Good service but a bit lengthy and expensive.
Guy worked on my truck to fix rear hub seals. First day I got it back, within five minutes the rearend caught on fire! Vehicle now sits at Ford with major costly repairs that I cannot afford because of BackBay. STAY AWAY, DO NOT GO HERE!
Asked him to roll coal in the walmart parking lot and he rolled some major freaking coal..and made me soil my underwear and pants!!
Knowledgeable technicians, reasonable prices and quality repairs.
Fixed my ambulance when others couldnt.
Excellent
