The team at Diesel Works & Auto are friendly, efficient and accommodating. Having just moved to the area I asked a friend for a recommend facility and they did not steer me wrong. I have found my go-to auto shop in Virginia Beach. Dont let the name fool you, its not just for diesels.

Overpriced. Go 50 miles south or west if you want affordable and good. They charged me $130 just to check my radiator coolant, which uses a $2 tool and takes 2 minutes. And thats the tip of the iceberg.For the average income in VA Beach, clueless people are fine paying that much. But I come from up north where garages charge so much less for still an excellent quality of work, and I understand what work Diesel works is doing.For those with more money than time, this place is great. For those living paycheck to paycheck, go far south or west.

These guys were recommended originally for electrical work. Then for engine work. They replaced the engine of our ‘81 Chevy, but not before looking for alternatives. They communicated and gave us options every step of the way. We’ve never had a household auto shop before, but we do now. We recommend them for sure.

I can’t speak highly enough of Diesel Works. Brian was outstanding to work with . He gave me a amazing diagnostic overview of my truck, kept me in the loop, and gave me a awesome maintenance plan. I received an awesome email after my diagnostic showing me the issues, a phone call, and a bill of the work . I couldn’t do it all at once but Brian didn’t push for further business, he is a consummate professional . I will not be seeing anyone else for my diesel’s maintenance, I am a Diesel Works Customer and will recommend them to anyone !

UNSATISFIED with diagnostics, 300-400 percent markup for parts and unnecessary recommendations of labor. Root cause for the lack of power, sputtering and black smoke could not be determined so there were multiple parts listed for the repair at a HUGE markup ($800). In a nutshell, truck was fixed for $64 in parts and 2 hours of labor. 1100 miles later the truck is running great.Recommend doing your own research on parts and scrutinizing repair estimate prior to authorizing.. Get a second opinion... Will not use there services again.

Traci and Dan, the owners, are wonderful, down-to-earth people. They tuned up my Honda quickly and stayed in touch throughout! However, after taking a second car there, I had less then stellar service.

I had several injectors in my 6.0 that needed replacement. After dropping off the truck I received and email with pictures of my truck with the results of the inspection they do with recommended repairs. When the new injectors arrived Dan came in on his off day and installed them and my truck was ready the next day. Unfortunately one injector was faulty but they ordered a new one and installed it the next day. Diesel works is a very professional place that treats there customers right.

I have taken my excursion to Diesel Works for a couple of years now and am impressed with the professionalism, quick diagnostics and follow up. Scheduling is quick and efficient also and they even bring my vehicle to my work when service is complete which is super convenient. The staff is very friendly and the shop and office spaces look to be organized and well run. I will continue to use their services and recommend them.

As a small business owner myself I can now say, Finally a shop where I know Im not forking over my hard-earned money on marginal, overpriced work.

My husband and I wanted to make his old pickup truck safe for my 19 year old to drive. We heard from a friend how great diesel works were so we took it there . They fixed everything that was wrong with the truck made sure it passed inspection and made us feel so much better about letting our grandson drive it. A few months later my car broke down and again they came through for us our car and truck run great. They will always have my bussiness.

I brought my truck to them asking for a billet torque converter for my dodge diesel. After almost 2 weeks they finally tell me that they feel Im better off going with a new transmission. Which was fine. I wanted a new built transmission. Finally again after a week got a quote for 10k in parts and another 3 in labor. This was absolutely over priced and ridiculous. I then called rory&sons who also freaked and wondered why they had quoted that much. So then they quoted me 4k for a built trans, parts labour, everything. Im not saying everyone will have this experience but my situation was time critical and I feel like I got screwed over. If you get a chance go to rory. The guy had been doing this for twice the amount of time Ive been living. Great people. Great service

If I can give zero stars I would.I have been going to Dan from diesel works for a few years now. They were always fair priced and good service.My truck has not been in there for a few years because it did not need any work done to it. I had to bring my truck in for an alternator I paid close to $1000 to remove and replace an alternator.The part was $511 on my bill Brian at the desk told me that it was purchased from Napa. When I called Napa to see how much an alternator was the price I was given was $278.I would recommend this to my friends but never recommend them again.

I received excellent mechanical and customer service from the folks at Diesel Works. They took the time to note items that needed attention (injector drive module, turbo intercooler lines cleaned, fuel filter), but did not pressure me. Once their work was complete my 03 Ford 7.3 diesel was running as well as when I bought it back in the fall of 02.

Diesel Works is the only place I will take my vehicles! Its also the only place that I would recommend a friend to go. Thanks for your Great Work and Service!

Dan and his wife Tracy have an awesome crew. I have a F350 super Duty with a 6.7 liter in it.took it to a dealer for the deff fluid being low after it was refilled, and was told it needed a Deff heater and level assemble replaced estimate was $750.00 .Diesel works said they could try a system reset before jumping to any conclusions.If that dint work they would check it out and give me an estimate. the system reset worked . Thank you for saving me $700.00 dollars, I will not be going anywhere else for my repair but here.

My 7.3L F250 always gets professional treatment when I bring it in for service and I appreciate the effort. See you next time, guys.

Do not ever take your car or truck to this place.Severely over priced and service is subpar.They fixed my truck and charged me two times the price for the part then the auto parts store quoted me.Paid almost $1000 for a simple alternator change on my 6.4 diesel.Was so upset the price jumped up $150 from the quoted price.Got home and began to look over the job and grease all over the bumper and fenders. Also found 3 bolts that were just finger tight.They did a “safety check” and said my truck needed ball joints on both sides and tried to scare me into doing the job by saying “ball joints should be changed because truck I not safe to drive”I brought the truck to another shop to have it checked and ball joints did not need to be replaced

I wish I can give them more than 1 star... It all started with a check engine light on my diesel truck. Since they had a decent rating, so I figure I could get it fixed a bit quicker and cheaper than the major dealership. But after spending more than $500, they could not make the light go away. So they sent me down to the dealership to get the new part programmed (another $100+ out of my pocket). I was redirected back to diesel works because they did not replace the correct part. They finally got the light to go away after another $300+. So total I spent more than $900, and thats without a customer lounge to wait in or shuttle service. Speaking from my experience, I will never go back to diesel works, and I do not recommend this place for your auto service needs.

The service and quality from diesel works is outstanding. Very knowledgeable in many aspects in the automotive field.

First off I would like to say they were kind and courteous to me when I first arrived. I took my F350 to Diesel works for a full diagnostic because I just purchased the vehicle. When I went to pick up my vehicle he gave a long list of minor things I could probably fix my self. Then he gave me one huge problem that seemed quite surprising. That my head gaskets were blown... After doing some research on the forums and getting a second opinion I came to the conclusion that this company just wanted to make a check. An unnecessary 3500 dollar job. On top of that when I went to inspect my truck after getting home I found my intake piping completely disconnected to my mass air flow. I highly recommend not going to this shop because they are not trustworthy.

Great service and quick to get repairs done

Way over priced compared to competitors, non ase certified mechanics. When I found out what the estimate was I told them I would be taking my vehicle else where. I paid the 103.00 diagnostic fees and had my vehicle returned to me with some of the fuel injectors disconnected. they were connected when they got the vehicle. and they misdiagnosed the problem. needless to say they will not be getting my business again. And I will not be recommending them to anyone I know. they were 1100.00 more than the competition.

5-star from me. Was trailering my boat back from OBX the first week of June, and 1/2 before the CBBT toll, my F250 PSD dies at 55mph. Made a call to Diesel Works, who gave me some advice on what to look for as a cause (no luck fixing), So I had it towed to Diesel Works. The owner Dan and tech DJ basically dropped what they were doing to diagnose and repair my issue (shorted out fuel heater wire- I would have never found the problem!). Within 5 hours, I was back on my way and felt what I was charged was very fair, seeing how they made me the priority that afternoon. The front end staff (Cheryl, maybe(?)) was so helpful and courteous. Im not local to Virginia Beach, but if I was I sure would make Diesel Works my local repair shop. Now if I can just figure out how to clone the shop and staff and bring them up to Marylands Eastern Shore.... Thanks a bunch Dan!

Not cheap, but you get what you pay for. These guys are very good and not only fix the issue but identify and fix the cause.

Great place with excellent people. They fixed what i wasnt able to and even made a keychain out of the bolt that was seized up and i couldnt get out. Will be using their beer coozy from here on out to represent them. Even had some great conversations with em while they were workin on my truck
