Steve and his crew are awesome. My 2002 Trooper is still on the road because of them. Steve is a very honest and trustworthy person.
I went in to have my AC checked. The rep told me to drop it off so I did around 1:30pm and he said that they would contact me when it was ready. I was never contacted so I reached back out 15 minutes before close and they provided very little information about the process for checking the AC, any fees that could occur, and what the actual problem with my AC was. I was then told the office was already closed and I could pick my vehicle up the next day. I came in the next day and the owner Steve was rude, threw my keys at me, and did not provide any paperwork in regards to the issues that were found with my vehicle.Once I got into my vehicle it did not start and all of the contents of my glove compartment box were thrown all over the front seat with the glove box still open. I went back inside to tell them and all he said was okay! Eventually he sent out a mechanic to reconnect the wire and he cleaned off the front seat and apologized as well but then I was able to start my car. I went back inside to tell him how unhappy I’ve been with his services and he said he was having a bad day and apologized, however, that is unexceptable to me. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION FOR ANY SERVICES until they are under new management.
It took 2 weeks before my car got checked. I initially told the that old manager Steve about my car issue, it got fixed after 2 weeks but I ended up paying way more than expected. Then I noticed my car had missing parts & informed the manager & claimed that they didnt touch this and that, that the missing part was not there when I dropped it off. There was only one mechanic working on cars that didnt look like a licensed mechanic at all. Now with my car I am hearing weird noises that Ive never heard before since I brought it in at this shop. I read a lot of negative reviews in the past and recent from customers who had the same complaints about this shop and I regret that I gave my money & trust to this people. So beware....save your $$$$ & time & go somewhere else.
Steve am his guys are awesome, I brought in a 1993 Chevy Silverado 5.7 K1500, I wanted to rebuild the transmission and they I countered a few more issues with some electrical wiring since it’s an old truck. They worked tirelessly to get the truck back up and going and in a timely fashion giving the electrical problems it takes time to figure out where and what happened. These guys are professionals and I highly recommend them to everyone for your transmission problems!
All work was done in a timely manner and they didn’t charge me for unnecessary work or man hours. Very satisfied with these guys and would definitely recommend to anyone else having transmission issues.Free inspection and estimate was really helpful for my pocket as I am not in a position to be spending hundreds for someone to hook up a computer for 2 seconds to help me figure out what exactly the issue was... ( turned out to be speed input/output sensors that a previous owner attempted to fix, which messed with the computer and everything causing it to shift weird. )
Steve Ashley was awesome! I thought it was a transmission problem but it was the catalytic converters. He had no problem fixing them and even took the time to save me four hundred dollars. I highly recommend this establishment anytime you need professional and curious people to work on your vehicle. Thank you Steve and all those at American transmission!
Been taking my van in to their shop since 2010 still going strong. Never had any issues theyve always been up front with prices and and completed the work in a timely manner. Taking their time making sure the job is done right. I highly recommend anyone looking for quality work stopping in there.
Horrible customer service, left my car a mess, had to complain to get fixed
American Transmissions is the only place we get our vehicles serviced. They take the time to work on your vehicle and the people there are courteous and knowledgeable. Top stars to the manager, Steve. He takes his time to discuss with you about your vehicle in a manner that you can understand.Theyre always busy, but they never make you feel like you are a burden to their work load.A GREAT place to get your vehicle serviced.
My transmission was leaking all over the place, Im a stay at home mom and I desperately need my car... so the sign said free transmission check, 🤔 did a quick prayer and pulled in hoping I wasnt gonna get scammed.. Not only was the owner super nice while I rambled about the car, he brought it in and fixed it all for the free transmission check ..🎉🎉 great service and will go again without question . Thank you again . 😁
This is peter gothers, I am a transmission rebuilder at this shop. Well established business. We are here for the customer too fix thier vehicle.
My 2001 VW Golf was leaking transmission fluid. Steve was able to diagnose the problem and discuss options. I had some other minor repairs that needed attending to and those were addressed as well. I had my car back in a timely manner. It was nice to work with mechanics who were trustworthy
AT has worked on my vehicle many times and always quick and with great results. The only place I take my cars. Steve is always very accommodating and truthful.
After stressing about my failing transmission for months, I finally asked the most reputable place that I knew for help. They told me to call Wendell at American Transmissions, saying that he would take care of me. They were right! They did a 12 point check on my transmission and came up with a very reasonable price to repair it. But, I also needed several other repairs on my car to pass inspection. To my surprise, they were willing and able to do that and it ended up being a one-stop-shop, taking away all of my stress. After 2 or 3 days I had my car back, went and passed inspection, took a 24 month guarantee, and had a smile on my face for the first time in a long time. The car has been running perfectly for several months now. I want to thank Wendell, Steve, and the technicians at American Transmissions for their outstanding workmanship and service.
Damaged vehicle while in care of mechanic, upcharged price of parts by $700. Shady behaviour on part of mechanics, when asked why the tire was flat and how long it had been flat for the mechanic began screaming at the top of his lungs and cursing us out. He made a huge scene and threatened us. Seriously these people arent worth the trouble if you can take your vehicle anywhere else just take it somewhere else unless you want some psycho to threaten you.
Went here to get my clutch and flywheel replaced for my Infiniti g35. Came back to my car with camshaft and crankshaft sensor lights illuminated on my dashboard along with 3 other sensor codes, cars idle was whacked out, engine cover was missing, and countless screws for different components were not screwed back in. Along with this I got my oil changed and came back to my car with a missing oil dip stick and told me that they didnt have it. Never have I ever had as horrible service as this shop who claims they know how to work on import cars. They will claim to have fixed your car but do not be fooled.
Steve was great to work with. They were able to tow my car also. Great work.
Steve has worked on two of my cars. Always fair and keeps me informed. Great place! Highly recommended.
Great place for repairs. Hteat staff!
I went there to get my transmission checked because it had been acting weird. I couldnt leave my car with them since its my only car. He told me to come back the next morning when they opened at 9. I was there for almost 20 after 9 and no one showed up. As soon as I was leaving they pulled up. Many people had come to the door to see they werent open and left. I am a stickler for punctuality but when you have a business that opens at 9, be there at 9! No way am I going back.
I took my car in for a transfer case and an all wheel drive shaft replacement. When I got the car back there was the awful burning smell whenever I would come to a stop after driving for a bit. Also white smoke could be seen coming from under my car whenever I parked and got out! So I took it back in they told me that the transfer case just had too much fluid in it and was spilling over and that was causing the burning smell so they removed some. I got my car back and when I did I instantly had power steering issues, car was making a loud noise whenever I turned and it was very stiff. Since they were closed on Sunday I had to wait until Monday to take it back in. I took it back in Monday and got it back Tuesday, they told that the power steering fluid was low so they refueled it meanwhile the burning smell still has not gone away. So now I am having to take my car back to another place because my power steering is going out on me again! My car never had a power steering issue until they removed the transfer case fluid. 3 times taking my car back to them waiting a day or more to get it back just to have to take it somewhere else to get it fixed properly! Absolutely terrible!!!
Hi it’s and trustworthy company to deal with.
I want to thank Steve and his team for taking care of the problem with my car. I will definitely be recommending American Transmission to my friends/family in the future.
Outstanding service. Had problem with hard shifting of a 2005 Audi TT.. Steve is a genius, identified problem and fixed for far less than I expected. Save me from buying a new trans somewhere else.
I had this shop recommended to me in early 2012 for my 2000 jeep wrangler with 129k miles and automatic transmission. The transmission was acting weird. They did a road test, and determined it needed to be rebuilt and I authorized the work. Amongst the bill was a brand new (not rebuilt) torque converter. Everything was great, until 8 months later, when my “new” torque converter failed going down the interstate and it had to be towed back. While I will absolutely give credit that they did replace the torque converter free of charge under his warranty…It still made me very suspicious at the time. Today, in May 2015 (167k miles), I went to a different business for a drain/filter change/refill (no flush due to age). This shop told me they found a lot of metal flakes in the pan, that the transmission shifts slightly hard, and reverse hesitates (I‘m aware of the latter 2 issues). They also told me I should begin saving $1800-ish for another rebuild, which will need to be soon (considering how it has been acting, this did not surprise me). YAY! I have been 4 wheeling twice since the 2012 rebuild, and otherwise drive 20 minutes each way to work, 70% of which is interstate. While I realize that my vehicle is 15 years old, and things will obviously break, but I’m EXTREMELY skeptical of the original job’s quality when it’s only been 3 years and 38k miles, and I’m looking at another rebuild. I know I’m 8k miles over the fluid change…but otherwise most fluid are kept up within 5k to the manufacturer schedule (except oil which is always on time). So it’s not an issue due to lack of maintenance. Again, he did honor his warranty when something did break, but I am still skeptical of the initial rebuild’s quality of workmanship and will never return here again.
The manager sucks at this place.. he will tell you anything to get you to bring your car im and when you get it there he tells you that he cant drop anything to look at your car 3 days after having it! I told him well give me my keys back and ill go somewhere else.. he refuses and says hell give them to the tow truck driver.... tgis has ro be the worst place ive ever had to go to in my life... needless to say it took him 3 days to put my car on the computer... never once did he bring it in the shop and put it on a lift.... sorry excuse for a professional
Had my transmission serviced here and ended up having to re-service the transmission myself due to a bad seal on the pan. Come to find out, instead of replacing the gasket they used RTV sealant and had stripped out several bolts. I would not recommend this business due to the poor quality and the cover up of their mistakes.
Went there for a quote on a trickle gas leak, They give me my keys back and said $400 to $500, No problem Ill be back in 2 weeks. From there I went a 1/4 mile down the road to pick my daughter from school, and I sat in my car for a few minutes with my son waiting for, and I noticed my gas meter went from being full to less that 3/4 of a tank. I got out the car to get my daughter and see a pool of gas next to my car on the curve. I drive to my sisters house less than a 1/2 a mile away from the school. I get the kids out and get them inside the house and go back out to examine the leak. I see a trail of gas in the road and when I look under the car I saw the gas leaking. It was pouring out like some turned on the faucet a quarter of the way. I called them to let them know it wasnt this bad before they checked it. That I could $30 in the gas tank and be good for a week. and now my gas tank went full to empty in less than hour. He didnt ask his employee who did my car what happenned, he just went on and said you need to re-patch it or not drive until it gets fixed. The way its leaking now is very dangerous to drive especially when people drive and throw cigs out the window and I had my kids in the car. They didnt even tell what happenned.
Never go here, they overcharge forlabor and I had work done here and when I was finished my car had more wrong with it than when I brought it there
I stopped by on 11//2812 and this place does NOT do state inspections. Just an FYI because it came up on my search for VA state inspection locations.
Steve with the dyed hair is the BIGGEST CROOK..I wouldnt recommend my worst enemy to this business..He makes up things wrong with your car and will fix it without confirming with you to make you pay..THE RATEING IS REALLY A 0..You been warned..STAY AWAY
