The vacation started out great. Exited about snow and clear air.We arrived at Denver airport late afternoon in January.Few people flew that day. COVID restrictions just been lifted. We dressed up and masked up. We felt brave. The plan was to rent a car and drive to Breckinridge. Get there in time to shop for groceries, prepare some food for the slopes the next day.Standing in line to get our vehicle at Fox-Rent-A-Car seemed very much like any other time. The line was long. People were sitting on the floor, with there back to the wall, on their devices. To kill time I started reading random things. I stumbled upon reviews about Fox. Mostly warnings, not to use their services. I always form my own opinion.I got to the counter. Signed for the usual paperwork. Declined additional insurance for having my own insurance coverage.By this time the winter Sun had set.Dark January night set in.I received the vehicle. A Toyota 4Runner.I did my walk around. Took photos of injures that were visible in the limited lighting.Loaded our luggage. Got rid of some loose items in the back that told me the car wasn’t really cleaned despite of strict COVID related regulations.I pulled out, drove, until I left Denver city limits.I pulled into the parking space at the condo complex in Breckinridge. As I looked out the windshield against the white snow wall, I noticed a small crack on the windshield. On the bottom, right under the viper.I didn’t think anything of it.Not until the next evening when I turned the front defrost on, did I get concerned. The glass was covered with fresh snow, the warm air started to melt it.When the snow cleared it occurred to me that crack that was originally a few inches grew and now ran along the entire bottom edge of the glass. It got me concerned.I called Fox’s roadside assistance. After a brief discussion they set me up with a replacement vehicle for the next morning. The associate asked me for my car insurance information, which I provided. The next morning a young man came with a different vehicle. He was prompt. We exchanged keys.Fast forward. Approximately a months after having returned to New Jersey I received a letter from Fox, stating that I was responsible for not only the replacement of the windshield but the ‘towing’ back and forth from Denver to Breckinridge. The claim amounted to the $1100.I opted to appeal it. I new that the glass damage wasn’t caused by anything that had done. The response was that I asked for the swap for no reason and I’m also responsible for the cracked windshield. After numerous emails and phone calls, I felt that I was guilty until proven innocent. Not only I am blamed for something I clearly didn’t do, but also the action of ‘Road Side Assistance’ when they decided to dispatch a swap to us.I am at a loss here. Am I to just just accept the loss and pay the claim?Gabor Simon
I had rented a car down in Florida from Fox and BIGGEST mistake ever! After I returned my car, I noticed charges that were not supposed to be there.I had multiple emails back and forth with Jass G in customer service. And have now been ignored and I’ve sent 6 emails!I also complained of being manipulated into up-charges, some of which I declined but found on a bill anyways.I complained of a lack of quality in my rental.I complained of failure to provide a safe vehicle, I stated that I had multiple times when the car did not start so we had to walk to dinner or an adventure. And I had to try to start the car three times before leaving the grocery store. Before the vehicle finally started.I was given an unsafe and not up to par vehicle. The “service maintenance required soon” alert was on the entire time.I asked for a refund and was told per their policy that I could get $40 reimbursed or $70 credit to Fox! I then asked to see the policy where these numbers came from; and was told that was all “internal” and it couldn’t be shared with me!This is absolutely unacceptable and a joke! Please don’t rent from Fox. They may be cheaper but not safe or willing to work with customers!!If I could give ZERO stars. I would!
I want to give Anthony a shout out for helping me! He gets 5 stars because he helped me get money back that the company was swindling me out of. He was so helpful so ask for him! They said I turned the car in late which I turned in early. He checked everything out and was wonderful! But I will never rent from them again unless I talk to Anthony personally. Thank you Anthony!
AVOID THIS PLACE!! SCAM!! Showed $78/day and I paid $320. Picked up nothing like what I reserved and then got charged an upgrade charge amongst other charges! The jeep had standing water in the floor board and the seats were wet! I also took preliminary photos and it had food and mud everywhere! I am filing a refund! I road the shuttle back to the airport after dropping this deathtrap off and everyone on the Fox Rental Car shuttle said they would never rent there again! This place needs to be condemned!
I should have read all the reviews before I selected this company. They were extremely pushy on up sales and ad ons. They charged be $90 to rent a $15 carseat for my child. Then they charged $35 for 2 tolls. They are a terrible company and the airports should kick them out. Welcome to our state - let Fox take advantage of you. Never rent from here.
Avoid Fox at all costs! We rented a car from the Denver airport. An hour later the shuttle showed up. Of course you cant get a hold of anyone, so we just stood there contemplating trying to Uber to the Fox location. Once we get to check out counter, I could barely hear the lady helping us. There was very loud drilling at the computer next to us. I ended up just shaking my head be I had no idea what she was saying. The car given to us was dirty and appeared to be just passed from the previous customer to us. It definitely hadnt been vacuumed or washed. I thought the lady said someone would check us out, but there was no one around and no check out signs. So Im not even sure what she was talking about.Other than being dirty the actual car was fine and we had no issues. I was expecting to have an awful return process, but it was actually pretty painless. The real issue some 2 months after we rented the car. Ive gotten 3 invoices, so far, totaling over $100 for tolls. The tolls themselves are only about $20 but Ive been charged $90 in administrative fees. Now I cant seem to get a hold a customer service representative to get clarification on the charges, and who knows how many more invoices they will be sending.Guess Ill chalk this up to a life lesson..........you get what you pay for and never go with the cheap rental car company. This experience will make you appreciate Hertz or Enterprise!
DO NOT BOOK WITH FOX RENT A CAR!!!!!!!!!!!! They charged me 3 times on top of the priceline fee and I had to pay $12/day in tolls (which we never went through any tolls). They made us pay $60 for mileage but they said we would have unlimited miles. I spent over $400 on a $80 rental car. AWFUL RENTAL COMPANY!!!!!! DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM!
I give them one star only because NO STAR is not an option. The absolute worst company. DO NOT rent from this company. You cannot reach anybody by phone or email and they have a no cancellation policy. When my flight was delayed and didnt arrive on time my vehicle was not available and yes they still charged full price. Credit card company couldnt help either because Fox and Priceline hide behind this ridiculous no cancellation policy. DO NOT USE EITHER FOX OR PRICELINE. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED AND OUT YOUR MONEY!!! BUYER BEWARE!!!!!!!!
Shame on Fox/Allsave rental cars. Fox/Allsave canceled our rental to raise the price for another renter without notification to us.We booked a rental car March 3rd, 2021 for a Maui vacation starting June 9th-16th. We arrived at the airport and found the shuttle to the car rental pick-up location only to be told by the shuttle driver we were not on the list he had to pick-up our rental. He called the office and they told him there is no car for us. We called the main office to see why and the only reason they had, after hanging up on me numerous times, was because the way we booked the car is why they cancelled it. We booked through Kayak.com. Two other groups of people waiting at the airport were able to get the car’s they booked. One couple even told us this was horrible and they had booked their car a few weeks before arrival, and it was expensive. The shuttle driver even knew this was a bunch of B.S.. Corporate sent me an email stating the maui location is only an affiliate and privately owned. They sent me a $50.00 credit. We ended up paying twice as much after a local car rental company overheard our panic and how upset we were. It was an older vehicle, at this point we were happy to get anything. We so appreciated the other company’s shuttle driver for calling twice to get us a car we tipped the shuttle driver $50.00.SHAME on corporate for allowing this branch to associate their name brand with this location and only compensate us $50.00 credit. Like we would actually book with them again. Is It too much for corporate to offer at the very least the difference from what we should’ve paid to what we did? And SHAME on the Maui Fox/Allsave rental car company for price gouging other people for car rentals. But most of all, SHAME on the person or people who made the decision to cancel our car with no notification out of greed in a land of paradise on our 25th wedding anniversary celebration.Fox/Allsave states customer service is a priority. SHAME for using this service claim.
Avoid!!I used them when I went out to California and paid for everything upfront when I set up my trip.I returned the car with a full tank of fuel and they tried saying I never filled it up and charged me for it. Now days later they keep trying to charge my credit card for little purchases.DO NOT USE!!!
If the customer service is trash I can’t returnThe girl who checked me out was very rude she probably had a bad day but can’t make excuses for people when I’m spending my money.
Apparently car rentals are in high demand, and I tried to save a few bucks by using this company, but lesson learned. This 3 day rental is apparently going to cost upwards of $500 (purchased for $255) we arrived in Denver to get the car we had rented to drive to the mountains where it was snowing hard and the snow rules were in effect. We asked if the SUV we rented was all wheel or 4 wheel capable and were told we had to pay $150 upcharge to have 4 wheel drive. For safety reasons we agreed. However as we got to the mountain pass we realized that there was no washer fluid provided and the windshield became so crusted we could not see out and there was no where to stop along the pass.We tried to complain and management was unsympathetic stating that their car wash was broken so they were not washing cars or refilling washer fluids at this time and if we needed washer fluid we could easily have stopped along the way and purchased some. (Not true at midnight on the mtn pass)Also, apparently on the final bill the upcharge for the 4 wheel drive was not $150 as we were quoted but $250.The shuttles to the airport do not run regularly and we even had to get an Uber to make our flight on time.I recommend you stay far far away from this company.
Frauds!!!! Beware of this place. I booked a rental car through cheapoair and then they charged me again when I returned the car without my permission. Didnt even know they did it. I Still dont have my money. They need to be reported to the attorney General and BBB for fraud.
This place should be shut downI had booked a reservation in Denver and about 2 months ahead of time I get a receipt with someone elses info on it for a car I allegedly rented while I was at home in Texas the whole time. Fortunately I wasnt charged but it makes me wonder what else happens at this dump. Needless to say I will not be making that mistake again.
Rented a Dodge Caravan in Orlando. The van was newer with only 3100 miles on it so we didnt have any issues with that. The wait for the shuttle was much longer than it should have been, plus they only had 2 people working the counter when we finally arrived with a shuttle full of people. What also dropped the score is that they dont give you good options for handling of the tolls. We declined the toll package which is crazy high priced unless youre a delivery driver. We tried to avoid the tolls, but had to take a couple and paid cash when we could. There were a couple places that didnt have that option and Fox charged us $15 admin fee for each. $3.55 toll total and $30 Fox fees. Its not hard for them to get your permission to charge the ACTUAL toll amount as they get charged for that day you had their vehicle. Its no doubt that this is a money making scam and will only get worse as there are more toll roads added to cities all over the US.
The WORST customer service we have ever experienced traveling. The staff at the Denver airport were extremely unprofessional and rude. Fox car rental does not even deserve one star. Yes, you can save a little money with their discounted rates, but the savings is not worth the hassle and frustration.
Avoid at all cost! Renting from this “organization” will lead you down a horrific road of regret and utter disbelief. (They do not have any customer service and/or a corporate contact). Be very careful or else you’ll end up in a horrible situation as we have.We have been getting harassed by one of their representatives (Pennie Turner) for over 5 months now. We were unfortunately in an accident, but we’re fully covered by one of the largest and most reputable insurance companies in the world. However this fact doesn’t seem to matter as our condescending harassment from (Pennie Turner) has persisted. She has claimed our insurance company “didn’t pay,” once we inquired, they provided proof that they did in fact pay. However not the amount she was inquiring for, as her initial inquiry was for a different amount, the amount that was paid immediately. With this being said, and to reiterate, they merely paid the amount requested by rep (Pennie Turner). Now she claims that didn’t in fact happen, that she had always requested the second amount, that our insurance company was “lying.” Very unprofessional and a serious claim to be made. After being harassed endlessly, continuously called liars, and told our insurance company was lying as well. We contacted our company to see why the remainder had not yet been paid/received. They ensured us they had tried contacting the rep (Pennie Turner) multiple times to no avail. Which seemed to be more of the truth, especially after the disgusting demeaning way in which the rep (Pennie Turner) had spoken with us.The rep (Pennie Turner) just called me again, claiming the same lack of communication from our company, and insisting we must pay out of pocket as the insurance company still hadn’t paid “full amount.” At wits end, I finally had enough and told her this was harassment! That she needed to correspond between our insurance, and needed to stop speaking to us in a belittling condescending manner. She went off, calling me a liar and our company liars and than laughed about how she (Pennie Turner) was sending my info to collections, and that while have 5 days to pay for it. She was getting gratification by harassing, demeaning and threading to harm our credit. I have contacted our insurance company yet again, who immediately apologized, and mentioned they have continued to contact the rep (Pennie Turner) to resolve/pay the remainder, but she won’t return their calls. I personally believe from my dealings with rep (Pennie Turner), that she may be a little off, and not well educated/trained. That maybe she’s just very confused. Either way, the fact that she’s trying to negatively slight out credit, is alarming. We have also reached out to our attorney to see what we can do to protect ourselves from this disgruntled employee?
If I could give a zero I would. They have absolutely no customer service I have no idea how they are still in business
They don’t like me to be there customer
Had to reschedule my trip per Covid, Fox rental didnt care to change my dates or give refund.
WARNING! stay away from this FOX-RENT-CAR at all means, wish i could give Zero Star... Nothing good to like about this rent a car company/location. I would never ever advise any one to even rent a bicycle from here.. For the most part this car company/location should not even be in business taking other peoples money or renting any kind of car. I had to return a total of four (4) cars within two days to try and get a good working one. finally I just gave up and took the Bullet until my reservation was up. This company is just taking customers money and not doing any repairs on the vehicles. All the cars are in bad shape No one should ever rent a car from this company. all the cars Have issues that the company do not want to fix. There are cars there with duct tape holding up the bumpers, zip ties holding up other parts, bad wiper blades with no washer fluid in them, Horrible sounds coming from underneath the car sounding like the wheels are about to fall off, the car vibrated as it was about to shut off, i told them at desk when i return the third (3rd) car about the stalling, they told me to use grade 90 gas in the car, DO NOT TAKE THE CHANCE WITH THIS COMPANY BECAUSE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!
Upcharged. $150 to over $500...
This is my first negative review ever written.Very poor customer service.Lost my $400 leather jacketNever received my call back after 3 attempts.Tried to contact corporate to no avail.SLC Fox Rent A Car. I am stunned. I left my $400 leather jacket in the back of my rental car. I immediately called customer service from the airport before booking my flight. They said you should have come back on the shuttle. I told them I had to make this flight and will send a friend to retrieve my jacket. He went back, they brushed him off and said they have no jacket. I called and emailed--no call back. I attempted to contact corporate. The only number I could find cut off. You guys, Ive never experienced this with a company. I am considering a small claim. The rental car was easy and inexpensive but the experience--appalling.
Horrible customer service. First off I had to wait in line for 45 minutes after my flight to Seattle. Once I got to the counter I was not greeted by Myron. He was EXTREMELY rude. He slammed my phone on the counter, threw my cards at me and slammed the copier on my passport. He also was on his phone “sending emails”. He also argued with me about how he isn’t being rude. I was honestly going to take my money elsewhere but I had already stood in the line for 45 minutes. I will never rent from this company again if this is how they treat their customers.Called customer service for my receipt and spoke with Nick, he was very nice but because of my first experience with the company I won’t be back. I would rather pay the extra money than be treated with no respect.
If I could give 0 I would. Read all the reviews before booking with them. They over booked and then offer you a smart car saying all the other cars are broken down. I pre-paid and they didn’t want to reimburse me. Their mission and vision is to give The best customer satisfaction day in and day out. MY A$&$$&&!!!! They should be sued for fraud!!!
Absolutely horrible. In fact I cannot believe they are still in business. My experience was this : flight was delayed, finally got to airport pick up spot for Fox for one hour with 20 other people. We got to the fox pick up and were THEN notified that they were completely out of cars. They have a signed my manager sheet that would allow us to go to any other car rental place and get a car at equal value. We did this and were then transferred back to the airport where we discovered that all other companies were out of cars as well. I understand it was a busy time but we were never notified in advance about this issue. I have tried calling fox multiple times and have yet to speak to someone. I need to be fully refunded for this as this car rental ended up costing me almost triple in the end. Please do NOT ignore these reviews they are 100% acurate.
WORST SERVICE EVER
ZERO STARS. I have traveled to many cities and countries and have never experienced such poor customer service. The wait for the shuttle when arriving to JFK took over an hour. There were other rental car companies that had their shuttle constantly passing through the pick up area but with Fox, you have to call them so they can dispatch the driver. Once we were picked up it was in a Dodge Caravan and the driver had rap music blasting (we had 3 kids with us). Never asked us if the music was okay but instead asked if he could turn it up during the drive. When we picked up our rental (also a Dodge Caravan) we were on our way to Long Island and the tire pressure light came on and while driving the steering wheel was shaking to the point of no control, I stopped and put air in the tire because at this point I was more than an hour into my drive. The next morning we noticed the right front tire was flat and luckily for us our family member worked at a tire shop less than 3 minutes from the house so we went in so I can fill the tire up but also inspect the tires up front (he found a nail in both from tires) he was kind enough to remove nails and patch tires free of charge. Took time out of our trip to fix a car that wasn’t ours (we called and notified the rental company before we did any of this but they did not offer to bring us a new van to replace what we had so we weren’t inconvenienced (enterprise has done that in the past for a flat tire issue in the past). This isn’t the worst of it though... after arguing with the manager of the location to give us a slight discount for the inconvenience and the condition of the van we finally make our way to the shuttle van to get to the airport and when walking up to the van the driver waived his hand at me to wait because he was on the phone in a heated argument over personal matters. He finally opened the door and continued arguing on the phone so I told my girlfriend to get out of the car because we were not taking their shuttle to the airport nor were we getting in the car with a man that was clearly aggravated and speaking violently on the phone. My girlfriend got recorded footage of this matter and will be submitting it to corporate (not that we think it will make anything change). I had another employee come over and watch him while he was arguing on the phone so we weren’t the only ones that witnessed it. I will NEVER give my business to Fox Rent a Car because if this is the behavior they condone at one location I am not willing to experience it at any other location. Piss poor customer service all the way around and there is no wonder why their rating is less than 2 stars. GOOD LUCK TO ANYONE WHO RENTS FROM THEM IN THE FUTURE!!!!
I am sending the OFF SELL LETTER, also the unfortunate experience that I recieved which I was not pleased with the reservation on the vehicle. Having to arrive with kids and worried about not getting a vehicle was tough as a mother you wouldnt like to have kids worrying about that. I had selected an SUV and ending up with a mini van. Traveling to a busy state and not being able to connect a smart phone to GPS system on the car audio was a headache. Having to arrive on a vacation is an awful way to start it and also having to pay more than planned to on a vehicle at that time was very devastating even if money was going to be reimbursed. I would have appreciated more if I was told in advance that they did not have my vehicle and would had more options in mind and not settle for a van. Thank you I hope the reimbursement does not take months before I receive it.
This was the worst car rental experience we have ever had. We landed at San Francisco Airport and proceeded to the counter. It took an hour and a half to get to the desk. They only had 2 people assisting customers. By the time my husband moved to the front of the line, they had 5 people there. Why they didnt have more people from the start is very puzzling. It was mid-day when many flights were arriving. Next, we proceeded to the garage to get our car. This took another 45 minutes. Needless to say we were quite exasperated with the whole experience. We drove to our destination on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge only to find out that the front passenger door would not open from the inside. We decided to live with it because we were a distance away and figured it would take even more time away from our vacation. Upon returning home, I wrote a letter expressing our discontent and asking that we receive some reimbursement for the faulty car. The letter obviously fell on deaf ears as I never got an answer. They certainly arent concerned about their reputation. DONT EVER RENT FROM THEM!!!
Update: Im very impressed with Foxs quick and courteous resolution to my issue. The companys COO responded to my problem personally, demonstrating an extremely high level of dedication to customer service.*old review*This company will bait you with advertised low prices, and then add significant fees at the last minute without your knowledge. They have hundreds of unresolved BBB complaints. Do a little research and you will find that similar experiences with this company are common.
I reserved a car rental with Fox Rent A Car for which told me (when making the reservation) that the security deposit would be $150. Upon my confirmation email, it states that the rental agreement calls for a $500 security deposit (which locked up everything I had left to live on for the rest of the month). I understand according to the website that by pre-paying I would basically have to loose the full amount of the rental should I cancel. Not thinking that I would have to I proceeded to go ahead and pay. Now not only am I out of $120.85 but $500 of my livelihood is locked until it is refunded which takes away from the mouths of myself and my children. I explained to customer service that I had rented with the company before in June 2018 for which did not require a deposit of such amount (or else I wouldnt have rented then either). She told me that, that particular rental was last year and the policies have changed. Even with that rental in June 2018 I had discrepancies to where I had to fight because the company tried to debit my credit card an additional $300. I was able to catch it in time enough to put a stop payment on that transaction with the bank for which the issue was later resolved with Fox Rent A Car as I explained that debiting my credit card without my permission is illegal. Not thinking that I would have another issue with this company, I decided to give the company another try. I was in a car crash at the fault of the other driver and will need a car rental while my vehicle is at the body shop being repaired. Not only do I have to deal with the trauma of this event, I am now out of $120.85 (with $500 on lock until refunded) and still have to desperately seek a way to pay another $100+ dollars to rent a vehicle from somewhere else. Fox Rent A Car is inhumane for which I will be seeking to file some type of report for some type of investigation of this company in hopes that other customers do not fall victim to what I have experienced not once but twice with Fox Rent A Car!Thank you for adding due stress to myself and my family
I would think twice about renting from this company. The people behind the counter were very nice and the price was decent. However, I stood in line to pick up my reservation for close to 2 hours. It is located outside of the airport so, you will have to wait for a shuttle. The car wreaked of cigarrete smoke, wasnt on a full tank of gas, and needed a good cleaning inside. When I brought it back, the woman outside was rude and more interested in talking on the phone than checking in cars.
Never, ever rent from this company. Deceptive advertising and practically non existent customer service. We were not given the size car we prepaid four months ago. After trying for days to talk to a person, a customer service agent named Leslie hung up on me. She even refused to tell me where the corporate office is located (turns out it is 4135 S. 100th 3 Ave. Tulsa). The only helpful person was the one who handles the Facebook page. Not worth the savings.
Very terrible service! I will not be using them again! This company is a RIP-off, their employees bearly spoke English, you cant get a hold of headquarters at all, theres always more then 10 callers ahead of you and if you push 9 for call back you never get a call back. So many hidden wrongful fees! They over charged me and gave me the wrong car I reserved! 2 days 180.00 when even in their paper work it says 20.00 per day if you return early and we paid for the full tank and didnt even use a quarter, so the most they could have charged was 90! The jeep was even banged up too.
Worst experience of my LIFE! Out of a three week vacation (seeing my family which we only see once a year) I spent SIX of those day either broke down or paying a tow to fix THEIR rental car. It was absurd. I have yet to get a response. Now going through BBB, as I even recorded the phone calls because they were so rude and had zero care about me and my children flying from the east coast to LA and being STUCK OVER-NIGHT in a scary location!! My children were petrified, stressed, and crying all night. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!!!
Worst rental car company ever!! If I could rate less than a 1 star I would!!! Waiting for over 2 hours in a line of over 20+ customers in the Orlando office. All of these customers had online reservations...means nothing!! Takes 2 agents at least 20-40 minutes per customer and the van from the airport keeps bringing more customers!!! Never in my 50+ years of renting cars have I had stand in line for over 2 hours and STILL standing in line!!! DONT DO IT FOLKS...IT IS NOT WORTH ANY DEAL...GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!
Ripoff company, they were so good years ago
I would give less than one star if I could considering it was never communicated to us that we would have to spend an additional $150 ON CREDIT CARD ($400 for debit) which we don’t have to secure our car after already paying $200 for the reservation. Complete robbery.
Left us waiting 20 minutes at the curb at Denver airport in 12deg weather waiting on a shuttle. Required 2 forms of id (which no other company has required) so we were left without a car.
Horrible, horrible company! Worst rental car company by far. Horrible employees, horrible process, horrible management. This company sucks beyond belief!
Phoenix Sky Harbor office is the worst
Corporate Office...No rentals here...
