This place is absolutely horrible. DO NOT sign a lease here. It is SO dirty everywhere and when I moved in, it was certainly NOT move in ready. My room looked like it was not touched since the last person that lived here moved out. The building is so run down and old that when it rains hard outside, water starts to come into the apartment. The ceilings are cracking and coming apart due to water damage. There is no way that the building is up to code or would pass any standard safety check. You can put in a maintenance request and it takes more than a month till something is fixed. The central AC unit is broken in the rooms. So, they just have portable AC units in the rooms or wall units in the windows. There are bugs that are in the rooms and in the building. Outlets in the room were not working when I first moved in and the sink took forever to drain water. The exhaust fan in the bathroom is currently broken. This place is a joke and should be ashamed to even be open. Trash piles up in common areas until it is overflowing to the ground around it. The bathrooms in the common areas are not cleaned everyday. I regret signing a lease here everyday. Dont make the same mistake that I did, in signing here. There was human and animal hair on the ground of my apartment when I moved in also. DO NOT STAY HERE, YOU WILL REGRET IT.

Dont waste your money. The staff are just college kids that could care less about anything and the place itself is rundown and nasty. Broken outlets, mold, dirt, chipped walls, bugs, no ac in the lobby or elevator. The elevator barely works and theres only one. No guaranteed parking even if you pay for it. All together worst decision you could make if you value yourself.

The tour was nice and great location. The facilities and management are terrible. The toilet leaked for a year, I put in 7 work orders and was never fixed. The AC/heating never worked I was told when I moved in that they were replacing the AC for the building, The staff had installed a window unit in my room and it was still there when I left. The management hires collage students to mange the property and they have no authority to have any thing repaired

Just an update on my daughter’s move in nightmare. We are now a week past her move in and I commented on day one to the leasing office that if this was an indication how my daughter’s stay would be I was a little worried. She assured me once we get in the room if any problems they would be right on it and she did but never heard back. She went to the office on Sunday when they opened and it was so overwhelmed with people with problems that they should fill out a work order and they would get to it.Shocker but nothing done yet.It thinking about renting just check reviews because they are a good indication of what you will be getting.

It is an older property yes, but the staff does a great job at maintaining the building and it’s amenities! There used to be some maintenance issues when I first moved in, but the front office really listens to their residents and takes their input into consideration. Since then they’ve improved their on-sight maintenance team immensely, it’s been a great experience living here. Great price, great location, and great amenities. 5/5

There’s really no place that can compare when it comes to price and location. Not to mention that all the utilities are included. We are amidst a pandemic and the new community manager and his staff are trying their best to give everyone a great home. No place is perfect, if you ever have problems, tell them. They care about how you feel and want you to be comfortable in your home. I lived at the Osceola last year and now at the renegade this year. I am happy with what I have paid and what I have received. You won’t find any other place like this near campus.

The Renegade is a comfortable apartment and a cozy place to call home. Its similar to the dorms, but with a lot more freedom. Plus, its one of the cheapest places to live in the area, so Im happy.

If you’re looking for something close and convenient to school this is the place for you. I love the amenities and the staff is filled with friendly faces, they are always so nice and helpful! They also always have fun activities and food offered for residents, couldn’t ask for a better place to live.

“ Nice apartment. No bugs. Get the assigned parking spot vs the garage people fly out of there it’s safer than walking from the garage back to the building. Only issue was pretty much my entire stay my bathroom was locked by the other person on the other side of me and they didn’t solve the problem.”

I really like living here so far! It’s super nice to have my own space that doesn’t feel claustrophobic like some of the other studio apartments do. It’s in a much better location than college town since there is a lot of fast food located near by, and we’re super close to campus as well. The maintenance team has been very responsive so far. The walls aren’t paper thin like other apartments. On occasion you can hear your neighbors but once your AC unit kicks on then you can’t hear anything. The only issue here is security. There is no dead bolt on your bedroom door, which makes it easy for someone to break it. Also, the doors leading into the building are unlocked 24/7 and the staircase is super sketchy to walk in. If I don’t live here again, it would be due to the lack of security. It is also discouraging that I was told once I would be living here there would be locks on the doors to get into the building. But overall you get what you pay for, so it makes sense that for a cheaper apartment you can’t get everything.

I have rented at the Renegade for a year and will continue to do so until my lease is up in 2021. I have had my fair share of challenges here, but one positive about this location is the close proximity to campus and reasonable rates that include utilities. Now, I could make a long list of shortcomings of this location but I will only focus on the major issues. For starters, when I moved in, I didn’t have any furniture with the exception of a desk, television on the desk, and a lamp with a bedside table. The staff was quick to fix this issue and I received a bed and couch within an hour of moving in. There was also a window unit in replacement of the air conditioning that did not work. After multiple complaints about a humid apartment and poorly functioning window unit, I received a working one. I have spoken with numerous staff members over the course of a year now about getting my A/C fixed to which they always responded that it should be done before this month, or in this many week, etc. Needless to say, I have yet to have a working A/C. With the high temperatures in Tallahassee during the summer and low temperatures in the winter, it has been a challenge to maintain a decent temperature in my apartment.Furthermore, my experience with maintenance has been interesting recently. For my first year here, the staff was great with fixing most problems and did so in a timely manner. I’m not sure if they have new staff or are short staffed, but it is clear that their residents are not a top priority. I completed three work orders within two weeks just for the first two to be completely ignored and marked as complete. The only reason the third one was even addressed was because I complained about a leak when it rains. There was no concern for my complaint about the various insects, spiders, and ants that were coming through gaps in my window around my window A/C unit. The bug problem was fixed after someone finally came out to readjust the window and seal the leak.My most recent issue here involves emergency maintenance. I try my best not to use too may appliances at one time when cooking because I do have a window unit that pulls a decent amount of energy. In the middle of cooking dinner, I tripped the breaker. This was not the first time, but it is quite annoying when it does happen. So, I called the emergency maintenance like I have done in the past. On their website they advertise “24-hour maintenance staff in case of emergencies”. It typically takes about 20 minutes for them to restore power to my unit, which is great. However, last night I sat in a powerless apartment with no working A/C and a half-cooked dinner for 45 minutes. When I decided to call emergency maintenance again, I received a call from Dakota (who claimed to be a property manager). One of the first things they mentioned on the call was that it was 1 in the morning. Obviously, it was 1 in the morning when my power went out a little after midnight and I have sat in bed with no power for 45 minutes! I am a night owl, so I understand the inconvenience of the late hour which is why I was patient with the first call. He then continued to ask me if anything in my fridge would spoil if my power wasn’t restored until the morning. This suggestion put me in a bad mood. I insisted that I could not wait because I did not have any food to eat or working A/C. I don’t know if this is their usual response to late hour requests, but this was different from my previous encounters and quite unprofessional. After about an hour without power it was restored, followed by a call from Dakota stating that I may receive an invoice in my resident portal, which was also unusual to me.Overall, my recent experience has solidified my desire to leave this location as soon as possible. The security, pricing, convenience, and even the staff for the most part have been great. However, I will not continue to tolerate the inconveniences of this place while I continue to pay for a subpar experience for another year.

Dont do it. Just dont. I did not believe the reviews and now Im stuck here. They do not care about the residents. Their only saving grace is that the maintenance man is very sweet and tries his best. Its just difficult to keep up with a building (The Renegade) that is actually FALLING APART! The entire building leaks! Every time it rains my apartment looks like Rainforest Cafe. Mold everywhere and mold mites! Oh and to add insult to injury, I do not have internet in my room... During a global pandemic...when all of my classes are online. SAVE YOURSELVES!

Horrible!!!Do not lease at Osceola and Renegade FSU (The Cardinal Group). The company is not following direction / recommendation from Florida State University concerning relief for students that left the area due to FSU closing the campus because of COVID-19. FSU housing is returning all money associated with housing and food plans for students. The Cardinal Group is not letting students displaced out of their current lease nor will they agree to some sort of discount. To make matters worse, prior to COVID-19 the company put pressure on students to re-sign their lease for the 2020-2021 school year by threatening a possible rent increase. We asked to cancel the lease for the 2020-2021 school year and they refused that as well.

Please don’t stay here!! Seriously it’s been bad. There’s mold, the ceiling is leaking in a bunch of rooms, there’s roach/pest problems, maintenance takes forever. Internet was included in my lease and it took THREE MONTHS for them to resolve it. I pay parking every month and some days I have to park on the street because they are just not on top of towing. I was told at the beginning of my lease that we would be getting a key for the mailroom, so we don’t have to go across the street everyday. Guess what- been here since august, hasn’t happened. They just recently installed door locks on the building, but only actually lock it maybe a few hours a day. DON’T stay here if you can help it.

I have had nothing but good experiences at The Renegade. I love my apartment, I love the location, and I love the office staff. Compared to the other student apartments Ive personally lived in (NXNW and GrandMarc) The Renegade is clearly a notch above the rest . The office staff have helped me out with every question or concern Ive had in a timely and professional manner, which is an extremely rare quality in student housing. In addition, The Renegade has some of the best rates in the city which is awesome because the location can not be beat! I would 100% recommend living here.

DO NOT LIVE IN THE RENEGADE. It was initially marketed as a place of renovation, yet remains completely unchanged since I moved in last August 2016. We have no security guards, and the security key cards we received at the beginning of the year have never worked. The back door remains open 24/7 due to our cards not working, which is a tremendous danger due to the fact that anyone can wonder the halls at any time regardless if they are a resident or not. The renegade is abondoned in favor of the Osceola. Save yourself the trouble and move into The Osceola. You have no reason to pick renegade over it.
