The gym itself is nice and I enjoyed going there, but I wanted to cancel my membership because I was moving out of state. The first time I called in to cancel it, they charged me the next month anyway. I called to see why I was charged and they said it was never canceled. I told them that I canceled my membership the month before and they told me it was never canceled. So I tried canceling it again on the phone, unsurprisingly I got billed again the next month and they once again told me it was never cancelled. This time I went into the gym to speak to someone in person to have it canceled. They seemed surprised that it didn’t go through and they canceled it while I was there. I thought the issue was resolved, but the next month I was once again billed. I had to call agin this time since I’m no longer in the state and they said I would need to speak to a manager. I never got any of my money back and this issue might not be resolved, I’ll have to see if I’m billed next month even though I canceled it.
Wonderful gym with a great community. The classes are all so inclusive and all the staff are welcoming and kind.
Excellent facility with plenty things to offer, amazing trainers, and great community! Great energy and knowledge from the trainers and are eager to help and take their time with you. The trainers also understand what you are striving for and they will get you there and further, while having fun. The are plenty of classes to choose from ranging from spin, yoga, barre, Zumba, Insanity, and more! Bootcamp classes are high energy, intense, and fun for every level of fitness. Highly recommend!
From the second I sent an email from their website inquiring about membership info, the staff at Elevate has been extremely friendly and helpful! Rachael was very helpful and eager to answer any and all questions I had. I’ve been out of the workout game for a while now and was also inquiring about a trainer. I used my 3 free sessions with Tim Bahia and then decided to keep coming back twice a week with him, as he has been so nice and is extremely great at his profession! I was embarrassed to even walk into a gym and everyone I have encountered has made me feel welcome and I am very grateful for that!
I cant recommend highly enough the quality of the group fitness classes and instructors at Elevate Fitness Dewitt. We have some of the most skilled, professional, challenging, encouraging, motivating and inspirational fitness staff around! Each one is truly passionate about fitness, health, strength, well-being and building a community of encouragement and support for the members. Dont hesitate to give them a try, you wont be sorry!
I have been going here as my homebase for a couple years and this past week I found a new feature to love. Ms. Donna and AquaFit. besides that, the gym has done a magnificent job of stepping up the sanitizing of all areas which provides a real piece of mind and helps us to all feel safe. I also met the maintenance man, who is a world-class trumpeteer and he turned me on to some Latin Jazz that his friend and himself played. How often do you get all of this in your gym?
I absolutely love this gym. Everyone is so polite and helpful. Its a very clean place as well. Every body is very kind and non judgmental.
Good amount of equipment here. Could use another set of free weights
It was dirty there wasnt clips available when you were lifting weights you had to hunt them down I didnt like it at all
Great facility, competent and friendly staff...they have worked hard to make the facility safe during covid and still give individuals the ability to maintain a comprehensive workout routine...great for all levels!
All instructors are outstanding and dedicated to all. Truly a great fitness team!
Good equipment in great condition, nice assortment of classes and a great staff
Havent been to the gym in almost a full year due to the pandemic. Asked to cancel my membership once I saw the annual fee and monthly membership come out of my bank account at the start of the new year. Management refuses to answer my email regarding a refund of those expenses. At this point they are literally stealing from me. If youre looking for a gym membership I would advise you to look elsewhere.
Its really nice in here, recommended...
Best gym in Syracuse. Ownership is constantly putting money back into the equipment, and the facility. Great gym environment, love the open gym area, equipment is new, free weights, oly platforms, new infield area. I also personally loved the sauna, the pool areas and tennis courts (always in top shape, and their tennis trainers are among the best in syracuse).
Convenient hours and location with plenty of choices in exercise equipment.
Mark Dolan is the best tennis pro in the area.
I highly recommend this gym . All the instructors are amazing and very welcoming. This gym is the only gym that I know of in the area that has a run club with an outstanding coach. Kevin is top notch in my book. The run club is included in your membership. I dont think you could ask for much more than that . Even the members are very welcoming. My first class I took was group power with Patrick and one of the members came up to myself and my friend and introduced herself and helped us with equipment we needed . Ive never felt so welcomed in any gym before joining this one. I cant say enough good things about this gym.
Joined Elevate over 10yrs ago when it was Golds! I never thought I would be part of a run club! Since joining last year under Kevin Collins I now consider myself a runner again! The coaching and support of the group is unwavering! I was able to run my first half marathon and looking at my first full!
A wee bit dated.
The gym has everything you need and the people are great.
I love Elevate Fitness and love the classes and the trainers really care about everyone that comes to exercise. The people that come to gym or classes there that you exercise with always give you welcome and all of them are super friendly that you will always see smile on their face. Trainers are very good at motivating the customers and getting us excited about working out. Specially when they work out with you give you energy and push that you need. 😀 The classes are awesome there are for beginners and extreme exercises. Dont be shy to try it out.
Elevate Gym in Dewitt provides a consistently positive experience. The facilities are constantly being updated (new equipment, new floors, fresh paint). The staff is wonderful. Many of these people have been with Elevate for decades, and are dedicated to teaching and training. And my husband and I have many wonderful gym rat buddies at Elevate.A great place.
Enjoy all the variety of classes offered at so many different times so that I can take a class regardless of how hectic my schedule is. So appreciate all the instructors as well - their knowledge, encouragement, and professionalism.
If I owned a gym it would be almost exactly like this one. It has EVERYTHING you could want! And it all up to date!
Never had a single problem in this gym, went consistently 4-5 times before having to have surgery. As a highschool kid i was never was once looked down upon by a customer or staff member. Absolute gem of a place, cant wait to get back in!
Love the encouraging vibe. Love my cool trainer. Love the equipment updates. Whats not to love?
This gyms tier 1 membership is a great value. Giant space, not crowded even when it’s busy, good sauna and clean locker rooms. The only thing I wish this gym had is bumper plates and better music.
Ive always been pleased with the fitness center over the years. I was mildly disappointed when the track was taken out, as walking was part of my routine. But I understood that things and needs change and I keep an open mind. I adapt.Well,I must say, I enjoy the treadmill and theyve done a beautiful job with the remodelling!
Pool open but not hot tub and sauna. Dang COVID.
I went in this evening to sign up for a membership. The front desk staff was extremely nice, but then I was referred to someone to help with my membership that snapped at me for coming in at the end of her work week when she was about to leave. I also had to ask her multiple times to give me back my gift certificate so that I could leave. I am shocked that I was treated this way since Ive heard great things about Elevate from other people and I was a Golds member for years.
Staff is so friendly, supportive, and helpful. You can tell they truly care about members. The entire building is always very clean and orderly.
This once Golds gym location is now under new ownership and boy have they upped the level of quality. This place is super clean and quiet. Everyone from the staff to other members are nice and helpful.
Staff are very friendly, facilities are comprehensive, but weight areas are sorely lacking. If youre coming here for racquetball or tennis, look no further! But youre interested in their pool and weight training area, I would suggest continuing your search. Ive seen older facilities with less rusty and dilapidated machines in their weight area than Elevate has. Ive already gotten some rudeness from some of the other members in my time here.If this review was helpful, please consider a thumbs up. It would be greatly-appreciated!
Thanks for having great instructors/trainers and classes all under one roof.
Bring your racquet.
Staff is largely unhelpful - this became extremely evident when my wife attempted to cancel her membership (mind you she is 9 months pregnant and was on her lunch break) they instructed her that she would need to go to the Liverpool location because that is where she signed up. Beyond this instance equipment is frequently broken for weeks at a time even though they charge a surcharge every year or maintenance. Their free-weight dumbbells only go up to 120 lbs. They removed the indoor track and consolidated space in an unusable way. I can go on and on but thankfully I am no longer a member.
I would not recommend coming here at all. The equipment is outdated and not well maintained. Everything is dirty and gross. Furthermore, they say you have access to everything in the gym when you sign up for a membership but you really don’t. I would rather work out at planet fitness.
Great staff, new equipment in the gym area. Lots of classes offered. Great environment only thing missing is basketball courts.
I would recommend staying clear of this gym If you are planning on using your Silver Sneakers benefits. I spoke to Tia on the phone to set up an appointment and was clear that I had Silver Sneakers. When we arrived she kept us waiting ten minutes (no apology) and then she proceeded to take our Silver Sneakers membership cards and shove waivers at us. She was in the process of creating our membership cards before ever explaining the program or their facilities. So, it turns out that Silver Sneakers people can ONLY attend 4 class per week that are designated as Silver Sneakers. If you want to attend any other classes you have to pay $7 per class. AND, you may not use the pool! If you want access to the pool you have to get a full membership at $29.99 per month. This visit was a colossal waste of time (Tia could have gone over some of the specifics over the phone with me and I could have avoided driving out there). The whole visit felt very condescending and disorganized so am crossing them off my list (and notifying Silver Sneakers about their attitude and services).
Great place to be
Dont work there its a waste of time n theyll fire you for working hard and doing the right thing. This place deserve zero stars.
Ive belonged to quite a few different gyms over the years.mostly due to not finding what I particularly need. Without name dropping there are gyms out there that have more treadmills/machines than free weights, kettlebells, ropes, sleds, the works. The real things that you need for a workoit to be effective over time.Im not saying machines are all bad, as i utilize them on rare occasions. But gyms need to realize if they want members from a wide group, they have to cater to what each fitness type needs. With all that being said this is one of the better gyms I have belonhed too. They have plenty of classes, personal training is amazing, they are always getting new equipment and their staff is very friendly and helpful. Greatly recommended.
Great gym . Great owners. Love Victorias yoga class. She is the true gem of the club. Will always go there. Jason is wonderful . The whole staff is excellent.
Elevate offers an impressive variety of workout alternatives. Whether you are a fitness beginner or advanced in training this is a great place to achieve your goals.
Very diverse facilities, tons of exercise equipment, machines, free weights. Many different classes, individual training, swimming and racquetball also available.
I love all the yoga classes, the willpower and grace class, the centergy class I take. The instructors are informative and helpful. The people are friendly and accomodating. There are a variety of classes offered, lots of equipment to choose from, the track for walking/running, the restrooms are clean and well-maintained. Some issues with the temperature in the exercise room.... gets too hot sometimes and uncomfortable to work out in.
I had to be transferred to a medical facility for a physical ailment that requires treatment. This meant moving away from Syracuse without notice. I emailed Rachael (as well and call) to send me a form to cancel the membership. She never responded back via email (three weeks( and she refused to send the forms to cancel via email. When I finally got her over the phone, she was not only rude but low key racist. (Maybe there is a communication language issue.) Her words. Stay far away from this place.
Took part in a fundraiser and received a 3 day pass... Was very interested but nobody really wanted to be bothered with me! Too bad! It looked nice!!! Funraiser was amazing!!
Best gym in CNY! Have had a family membership for several years and absolutely love it - entire staff is so friendly and helpful. Great for the entire family! Personal trainer is Ed - awesome work out plans and he definitely motivates me!
The whole reason joined was for Kevin and the run club to be honest. The gym has a lot to offer as well and will get more use in tge winter. My only complaint, so could use fans pointing towards cardio equipment and not just at the weights
Elevate is an amazing gym where you will find the most dedicated and energetic coaches! I owe a huge debt of gratitude to David Cruz, Ariel Palone, Jeffrey Nappa and Darcy Dibiase for helping me get closer to my fitness goals. I am having so much fun getting healthier!
Complaint filed with BBB. Please support another gym or fitness center. Do not do business with Golds Gym. Poor management, poor customer service, poor place to give your hard earned cash to. Plenty of other gyms in the greater Syracuse area who will be happy to have you as a customer.
Best Group Fitness classes around, not to mention the best instructors!
The recent remodel for the weights was huge and to be expected of a modern gym. Once the wifi is upgraded I will change my rating. Currently the wifi is impossible to use during most gym hours and most 4g phones will have a bad connection here.
Staff is so friendly and helpful. Lots of options for gym equipment and classes.
Very poor management. If the management goes out of town, they say you cant cancel your membership until the manager gets back and then you can get charged for another month. They dont clearly notify you when you change your trainer which makes it difficult to make membership decisions. For $360 a month training fees plus membership dues, you would think the management would be more professional. Poorly temperature controlled. Can sometimes smell the chlorine from the pool.
Well maintained equipment and a clean environment .Nice locker room
Been going there for 30 years . I’m very happy there !
Facilities are excellent, only problem is with the locker room. Like most American gyms, they have carpet flooring. It smells bad in there, especially since a lot of people that were just in the pool are soaking wet and go in there to change
Friendly staff and good place to exercise
Parking lot is horrible.. Its really bad drive car on the 100 holes. I did complain to customer service.. But nothing happen. Thinking to cancel membership. Higiena is 3 star
The best indoor tennis mixers in Syracuse area. Open to non-members. Contact Steve for the schedule.
They have some very interesting machines to work out on like the Jacobs ladder, 4 rowing machines and 2 moving stair machine but the cost to be a member there wasnt worth it for me.
Love the pool! The temperature makes so you want to work out. Staff is very friendly. Clean environment, big plus,
Pretty good gym to be a member at. The DeWitt location has a good size staff, good equipment area and several other exercise rooms.
Great place to exercise and use the pool, hot tub and sauna.
Perfect place for the gym loved all fun activities that are there and to have a personal trainer help u get n reach ur goal is amazing
The management and ownership are never available to answer questions, every question is meet with a hmmm I dont know the trainers are the only reason I come back. Building is maintained only in major spots, you can dust and mold on smaller rooms.
I love the workouts with great instructors and interesting programs.
Staff are nice an professional, variety of ammenties to participate in.
The best Health and Fitness Club in NYS.
New equipment and friendly staff makes every time I go here so pleasant.
They always have classes that theyre offering is always great and new experiences there and boy when the world pools working Im telling you its the best place to be
Staff is largely unhelpful - this became extremely evident when my wife attempted to cancel her membership (mind you she is 9 months pregnant and was on her lunch break) they instructed her that she would need to go to the Liverpool location because that is where she signed up.
Great place for Tennis.
Improvements being made now as elevate. Getting better consistently.
Good gym and equipment, building could use some updates though
Friendly staff and a comprehensive facility offering several programs. Racquetball Court needs refinishing of floor and replacement of burned out lights.
Im on the road all the time and visit whatever gym I can find when I have time. This place hooked me up with some days to workout. Large choice of machines and a barrage of classes too. Crossfit area, ratchet ball area, tennis courts, and indoor pool.
The largest club in town. Been a member since 87. All you need and more.
Love tennis sessions here with Mr Steve.
Decent club. Enough free weights and dumbells for anyone. 2 full cages with bumper plates. Large selectorized area. Small track that goes around the weight area which is ringed by cardio equipment. Large clean co-ed sauna. Locker room is a bit dated but mostly clean. Things they have I did not use. ...pool, hot tub (co-ed), gx studio, racquetball courts and tennis courts. The desk staff in the early morning is pretty friendly. My only complaint has nothing to do with the business. ..just the patrons. It seemed on each of my visits, I was the only person I saw wiping down equipment. There are plenty of stations with spray and towels. It just seems this common courtesy is not common practice.
Love the staff, love the new additions, hopefully more to come!
I moved from Syracuse over a month ago and they continue to charge my card for a membership I dont need and REFUSE to cancel it. UNETHICAL AND GREEDY!!!
Continues to be the high standard of workout facilities.
Perfect place to workout, they have a lot of weight machines there. Very clean in bathroom
Excellent
Delivered food there was pretty empty
Great body pump work outNowhere else offers that great workout!!Check it out!!!
Nice courts and nice coaches
Great place to train and world class amenities
Locker room smells like athletes foot. Pungent bo. Bad!Carpet in the bathroom is a bad idea. Extremely limited access to supplies for cleaning equipment after use. They need to work on cleaning this place.
Its where I workout. Great machines, group classes, and a pool.
Great place to get your morning workout!
Great place to work out, great machines
I have never considered myself a gym person; Id much rather be outside - running, cycling or playing soccer - anything but lifting weights or using a treadmill. But work schedules and weather werent always so accommodating to those types of workouts. So when I was offered a gym membership to Golds I decided to try it. For a while I would swim or run once or twice a week - venturing outside more often than not.But two years ago I decided to adopt the sport of triathlon. And in order to train I was encouraged to add weight training to my weekly schedule. Because I dont like lifting weights I knew I wouldnt do it by myself. I was then introduced to Roger Markell, and participated in a cardio-strength training session. My feelings toward weight training changed immensely as a result of that first session.I know how to push myself pretty hard while running and riding, but the effort and energy I expended during my cardio sessions with Roger was at a whole different level. After a handful of sessions (and a lot of muscle soreness) I began looking forward to my weekly weight training sessions. But it wast just the workout itself that lead to my enjoyment. Roger made the sessions interesting, and tailored them to my athletic pursuits. He was always very conscious of me and my overall training. He made sure my form was right, to insure I didnt get injured in the process. Roger was always very professional but also personable. On days when I was in the gym to swim in the pool or run on the treadmill he would always say hi and ask how I was doing.I still would prefer the great outdoors to the confines of a gym. But because of Rogers dedication to helping me improve as an athlete, my appreciation for weight training - and the gym as a whole - has vastly changed. Thanks Roger, and Golds Gym Dewitt!
Roger Markell, Master Trainer is the Best !At 47 years old and 250 pounds, impulse led me to Roger Markell, the trainer for my weight loss challenge team. I had no explicit goals. I just wanted to lose some weight. Even though I had a skinny past, that past was never fit and as I sat more, worked longer hours, fasted all day so I could eat a big dinner with my family, my only exercise a daily walk with my dog - the weight packed on.6 weeks into my weight loss challenge, I lost about 30 pounds and began to realize what I might be able to do if I committed to a true lifestyle change. At that time I began to work with Roger Markell twice a week. The results have amazed me. In 6 months, I lost over 90 pounds with more than 30 inches gone from various body parts. From huffing and puffing up a flight of stairs, I now walk up multiple flights without losing my breadth. I can push more than my weight with my legs, do 10+ guy push-ups, jog around that track without getting a stich in my side, and am valiantly working to do pull ups! When I started, everything hurt: my knees, hips, back, etc. I was taking Tylenol to help reduce the ache to sleep. Now, I still ache but it is muscle ache and I dont need assistance to sleep.Roger helped me to eat more nutritiously, providing real examples of how to eat those 6 meals through a jam packed work day. Always concerned about my health and well-being, he works to maximize my work out benefit while keeping me injury free. Roger helps me to stay accountable to myself. When the sweat drips into my eyes and puddles on the track, Rogers humor cheers me on. His confidence that I can accomplish what he asks gives me the confidence I need to keep going.Ive now been with Roger for 2 years. I have a maintained my weight loss and fitness. As a team, we worked to get my body fit. As a team, we work to keep my body fit.
