I have been a member here since October 2020. Aspen Fairmount is a great place to work out!! They keep the place cleaned and well maintained and they treat their members with respect!! Their equipment is in good working order, and when something breaks down, they fix it in a reasonable amount of time. Before becoming a member here, I was a member at Pine Grove for 27 years, and Pine Grove cant match Aspen in value, flexible gym hours or quality of atmosphere. Aspen feels like a gym is supposed to be...Full of members who are there to work hard to achieve ultimate fitness!!
I’ve been going to aspen on and off since I was a college student. The ability to freeze your account when you want is a great feature, as well as their kids korner bonus! My kids look forward to going every time and get a special treat at their smoothie bar. Def recommend!
Worst customer service in the game. They’ll make it an absolute headache to cancel, even charging a $75 “early termination fee” to cancel mid month. This broke franchise will literally do anything to make an extra few bucks on you. Take your money elsewhere, save the headache.EDIT: Don’t listen to this dude.. its not simple. I paid for my sister to go here for a while, then she went to college and I went there to cancel her membership. They wouldn’t let me cancel without her being there or a note saying she wanted to cancel. Sorry but if it’s my card that’s paying for her, I should be the one to say cancel it. And recently my wife did not have a 12-month membership..they still charged her $75 to cancel mid month.
Went there and felt welcomed. Friendly staff and knowledgeable. Shane and Vinny were great looking forward to joining
Absolutely love this gym. Clean facility, friendly staff. Highly recommend!
This gym is my motivation! The staff is very professional and friendly! I been going to this gym since 2015 and never had a disappointment!
Good culture and it is clean. The functional area and sauna are nicer than most gyms. Free weight area is cramped and the equipment is dated. Overall has a lot to offer.
Switched from planet fitness. Love this gym. Great atmosphere!
Not member friendly . If you ever want to cancel, they make it significantly difficult . Would not ever think about rejoining .
Great place to workout. They are taking health and safety guidelines seriously.
Dont go here if youre looking to workout hard and lift heavy. They dont replace the dumbbells over 100lbs and management will constantly tell you to be quiet without understanding that heavy weight hitting the ground will make noise no matter how lightly you set it down!!! Some guy threatened to kick me out and I dont even think he works there. Super inconsistent and poorly managed.
Great place to get a work out and a shake lol Camillus is spacious
Avoid Aspen!!! Aspen Fitness continued charging me for 3 months after canceling my membership of four years because I moved and it was just too far away for me to go. I will add that any time they close early they never send an email just put a little piece of paper on the door and front desk letting you know. Fairmount is a nice location to work out but there are far too many gyms opening locally for me to ever consider going back to Aspen after my 4 year experience with them. To make things worse Aspen has gotten themselves into a political battle on social media that never looks good!!
Great place. Wonderful staff.
Small dudes wearing even smaller under armor they can find occupying multiple pieces of equipment with atrocious form.
Plenty of space and a friendly staff
Clean, not crowded, friendly staff!!!
I came here as a guest a few times, and it had a nice little area to do your own thing which provided great space for some Acro! The staff was nice, and honestly not too pushy once given your info (name and email) for being a guest to persuade you to join their gym.
My wifes car was broken into the week of Thanksgiving, along with at least one other car in their parking lot the same evening. She had several items stolen from the vehicle. It was between 5:15 and 6 pm. They have no security cameras and no concern over the security of their customers. I spoke with a manager, Shane, and was told whatever happens in the parking lot isnt their issue or concern. Enter at your own risk!
Good price, with good well kept equipment. The sauna is nice. Staff is always pleasant and helpful.
Super clean, great selection of equipment for all levels. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
1st time in a gym, recent large weight gain- Aspen is intimidating and the staff didnt help me with the anxiety or where to start at all. My husband helped me thru and taught me his workout, and I felt good after, but I cant say that was from the gym itself. The equipment was fine, svc seemed fine, but nothing made me exclaim love that place! Gotta go back! Might just buy a bicycle.
Nice and clean but just doesnt have the same neighborhood feel as Pine Grove down the street.
The club is great! They have a lot of weights there if you want to build muscle and they have a lot of cardio machines they dont have at other gyms. Staff are great help. Its clean and really big gym so you dont have to wait for someone to get off a machine you want to use much.
Aspen is the place for anyone looking to better their health overall. Theres an abundance of equipment options to choose from without waiting around. Super clean, neat and organized. The staff is excellent which makes your experience much more better. They care!
I have had my own membership for 2 years, paid for a personal trainer for 6 months, and then purchased an additional membership for my boyfriend. I canceled my initial membership on time with no issues. Today I went in to cancel my boyfriends membership because we havent needed to use the gym for exercise and they charged me for an additional yearly membership fee and this months dues because of the following mistake: I lost my original agreement that stated my membership was up in August 2017, so around May or June of 2017 I went into Aspen inquiring when it would be expired so I could cancel or if I should cancel it early. That receptionist told me that it would be cheaper to wait out the remainder of the membership and advised me to return to cancel before the end of the month of September 2017. On 9/19/17 I called and spoke to a woman at the same location and she told me that my account was already charged the previously mentioned fees and to come in before 7 PM to speak with a manager to sign something for cancellation. I did so on 9/20/17 and was told I had to still pay the fees because my membership was up in August 2017 and not September 2017. Despite explaining that I came in to ensure that this type of confusion or over payment didnt happen they did not seem to acknowledge their mistake and proceeded to tell me that the have waived fees in the past but cannot for me and that the woman I spoke to months ago probably doesnt work here because of mistakes like this. They did apologize and kept repeating that they cannot do anything but still charged me. I have no problem paying for what I rightfully owe but I was doing exactly what their other staff had told me. Frank also informed me that staff are supposed to check in customers that come in to ask these types of questions so that they can see that people like me are giving them the truth. So that is my fault that the woman I talked to in May or June didnt document that I came in and asked? Unfortunately I feel that they took advantage of a situation to get 49 more dollars in their pocket despite the hundreds of dollars I have spent on personal trainers and memberships there. All because a couple employees told me the wrong information. I just want other to know about this practice and hopefully will help them make a wiser decision than to trust employees words at this company. If someone tells you something record it, video tape it, make them sign for it and then dont lose it like I did because places like this will take advantage when they can and without proof its your word against theirs.
The gym is decent, the staff is nice. They have enough equipment for the size of the gym but at many times are overcrowded and makes it difficult to squat or bench. Many features such as sauna and tanning which is nice but the biggest complaint I have personally is that the hours posted on the website aren’t always correct, there are times where they will be closed and only have it posted on the door so by the time you get there and have already taken your pre workout it’s too late and it’s closed. Bad communication!
Good facility with great nutrition & juice bar. Exercise equipment and classes to cover all training programs. Personal trainers at an extra cost if needed. Child care for those who need it. Saunas in locker rooms. Lockers are narrow but adequate. Memberships are about $15 - $20 a month, depending on promotions, with a recurring annual fee of around $35. Club has always been clean on my visits.
Mike Cassidy - Fitness Trainer, is wonderful. Impressive qualifications, knowledgeable, caring, inspiring. Aspen Athletic Club offers a clean, bright, upbeat, fully equipped gym.
My favorite choice of gyms to workout at. Enough equipment that theres never a wait with friendly staff. Prices for monthly membership are also very reasonable.
Ive been a member for several years. Love this place! The Zumba classes are the best!
Amazing gym with helpful and friendly staff. You can tell they really care about your well being and health. They keep the equipment updated and clean with reasonable membership rates, whats not to love!?
I have had nothing but great experiences at Aspen Athlete Club. The people at the front desk greet you with a smile and are always helpful. The equipment is excellent with a good variety. Machines are well maintained and if one goes down repairs are done in a timely manner. Over my life I have been a member of other gyms and a multiple machines are broken and they were always slow to repair. For those that like to pump iron there are numerous machines and equipment to work out with. Finally the facility is very clean witch includes the machines A day doesnt go by that I dont see some one cleaning. I rate the club with 5 stares
If I could give Aspen a negative score I would. I have never dealt with such a disrespectful, unmoral, untruthful place of business in my whole entire life. Not only is the staff, and managers rude, but they are con artist too. I do not need to go over in detail as to what happened to me because I could write a book. I will say try it out for yourself. Call each gym around Syracuse. I can guarantee you when you ask how much it would cost to sign up, and how much it would be per month you will either 1) not get an answer at all, or 2) you will get different pricing information at each location. They are all owned by one owner so dont believe anything different. I would never recommend anyone to ASPEN. I have saved many from going.
I have been a member of Aspen Fairmount since the club opened. I have enjoyed my membership for several years, love the boot camp classes and zumba as well. I decided to step it up and take advantage of one of the trainer packages in February. I have been working out with Kim two days a week since mid February, and I love it. I was hesitant at first to spend additional dollars, but she is so knowledgeable, motivational, and encouraging that I bought another package, and I have noticed the changes I was looking for. Secondly a sub in one of the classes had encouraged us to step out of our comfort zone after the first of the year and try new classes, machines, step up your effort -what great advice. I did this, and have enjoyed Aspen in many other ways. I think this is a great facility. I have met great people, great staff - it is my go to gym!
Very disappointed thus far by the new management at this location. What used to be a friendly, welcoming environment for all now resembles a Planet Fitness style where it seems those trying to truly pursue high level fitness are being hamstrung and treated like enemies of the facility. Asked for clarification of policies and membership was cancelled after years as a loyal member. So long as Shane and Chris are running things, avoid.
This is the gym i go to every day. In my opinion it is the best location of the 4 clubs. Everything is newer and there is a lot of space. I love the sauna and cardio room.
While this is one of their nicer facilities, its less personal than the Liverpool facility which they never put a dime into. Wish the Liverpool facility was half as nice
A lot of the machines are in bad shape. Joined for tanning too, I went in 3 times and havent even gotten the slightest bit of color. I even tested it and went for 15 minutes, I should have burned.. Nothing happened! The machines are pretty dirty, the tanning beds look old.. It would be a great gym if everything was maintained. Going to cancel my membership in August
Very nice facility. Has all the bells and whistles you would want. But often feels too busy and hard to get a staffs attention.
Been at this Aspen location for over a year. Great deal/price. No problems. Broken equipment gets fixed, relatively clean, and gym itself is spacious and well-equipped. Patrons are quiet and the curl-bros that are there, keep to themselves. Staff is helpful and trainers look like they know what theyre doing.Stopping membership is easy, but you have to request stoppage in writing. Its right there in the contract. No mysteries or funny business. I think the bad reviews here are from people who try to halt membership but havent read their contract. To them they feel like theres some injustice, but in reality they just needed to understand the structure of the agreement.Ive been to the Liverpool and Drivers Village locations as well and have felt welcome and had only good experiences with the staff and patron environment.Large selection of free-weights and racks at all locations. Great cardio selection and A/V cardio room.
Friendly staff. Convenient location. Affordable fitness for every budget.
The cleanest and friendliest gym in the Syracuse area. Lots of cardio equipment and weights. Great variety of classes and personal training.
Professional staff, good clean equipment. Excellent class selection and great instructors. Some issues with ppl picking up after themselves, but its the same at every gym. My favorite place to be. Been going for years. Reviews bashing Shane and Chris I believe are unjustified.
I previously had a membership there and i had canceled it and then the yearly dues came up 2 days after i canceled and they still want me to pay dues for my husband and i even though i canceled my now i had a debt collector calling me, also when we first got the membership about 4 months before we canceled we paid yearly dues for the whole year, it was not pro rated for the 4 months. So i paid for a whole year of dues only while i was a member for 4 months and now they want me to pay more for the next year after i canceled. i worked at a gym before and people that work there are notorious for playing these scams so watch out now that bally total fitness is not around to get you now every watch out for aspen
The only reason I gave this gym a 4 and not a 5 was due to the water fountain situation. Its just really hard to refill water bottles, and not to mention its not even in an area youd really want to continuing using to keep filling up.
Great staff great juice bar so happy that they have two hours child care gives me more time to lose baby weight
I was a member there for over 4 years when i went up and asked for a new scan fob to sign me in. Theyre made of plastic and mine was completely worn out and falling apart. They charged me 5 dollars to replace my 4 year old scan card, smh. The second straw was when they reworked the memberships, one day 3 years in I asked for a towel like I usually did probably once a month for the sauna. The girl goes do you have a towel card? I said towel card? she said oh you must not have that membership level hehe. so unbeknownst me i guess i lost my towel privilege as well. Regardless of petty grievances, the place is not well kept, machines are loose feeling and all cables are not oiled leading to annoying chest flys when one is catching. its overcrowded and theres a new employee there at least once a week due to poor management. Its a nice gym that could be a lot nice with a little work and respect for the customers.
This aspen have a sauna so thats a huge plus. The tanning bed area could use some work but the locker rooms are nice. They have a protien shake area that is serpate from the gym but in the gym. Its actually a really good place to stop for an after workout meal. Lots of varieties. They also have a karate place as well. The kids korner is ok. I have had some not so great experiences with some of the workers there in the past (not anything in regards to cleanliness or anything had). Just in the way they handle the amount of kids they have and the supervision. Again, these are not licensed daycare providers so I cant expect too much. The the machines are in great shape but sometimes its hard to get a machine you want at certain times. My least favorite thing is the clientele that go to this Aspen. There are quite a few guys and women that do more standing around and talking trying to look cool than actually workout.
This place has the best equipment and attentive staff. Very clean mens lockerrooms. This club blows away Pine Grove and Planet Fitness. Only Golds in Dewitt is better.
Good clean gym, with all the equipment and facilities, you need to get in shape. Excellent staff of personal trainers.
Good place to workout at and good for personal trainers
Equipment is new and the place is clean, cannot go wrong.
Friendly staff, always working exercise equipment constantly cleaned and checked by equip tech person, frequented by people you know in your community. Bright and cheerful.
I enjoy the perk of tanning, working out, my kids have a place to hang out while I am working out.
Alot of perks and and cons compared to the other Aspens in the area the biggest perk here is they have a sauna which is absolutely amazing because the other two dont have one no idea why they have a huge cinema room with probably a hundred thousand dollars of equipment and a big screen never once seen anyone use it ever...Could be using that same money for a sauna, jaquizzi, pool, more weight lifting equipment of different variety... or ya know stuff people would actually use but they dont for whatever the hell reason anyway going off topic yea another pro about his location is they have a vending machine for drinks awesome! I love it but theres a very very big catch..... They dont have a drinking fountain here unlike the other locations so they kinda force you to buy something or bring your own drink which is absolutely ridiculous great for business, customer satisfaction not so much when I forget my wallet and my own drink Im basically completely screwed and cant even workout because its that big of a deal if you dont have something to drink another absolute seriously huge con to this place is the bench press where you lay down is unbelievably slippery to a unfathomable degree it makes it almost impossible to actually properly bench because your body is constantly slipping and sliding all over the place I mean it looks nice and neat and new and all but Jesus Christ seriously never had any problem like that at any other Aspen and there weight lifting equipment is very inadequate to say the least the variety of different tools to workout espessially for back workouts targeting certain areas is unbelievably limited at this location compared to the other locations idk dont wanna complain too much but there all very very easy fixes and just silly mistakes that dont make any sense at all probably a million dollar gym yet literally 3 grand in investments in a few simple switches would turn this place into a master piece yet so easily overlooked if they listened to this exact post they would be the best gym is Syracuse by far for sure and they wouldnt have to spend any money and would only gain millions in profits.... But heres the thing they wont because they got it all figured out already I mean who the hell am I just some random idiot babbling right.... So they never ever will listen or do anything at all whatsoever and pretty much completely ignore everything I just stated..... Meh oh well
Enjoy getting a workout out in at Aspen.
Very great place to workout, lots of equipment and not crowded
Staff is friendly and always willing to help.
Very crowded, which is OK, if people arent talking and looking at themselves in mirrors. They have a CrossFit-esque area, but its not open to everyone. Avoid the 1500 - 1800 time frame; thats prime time for Bros and Dbags. At $15/month I cant expect any more.
Good selection of equipment and decent ppl.
I dont understand why the reviews for this place are so low. The staff is great, the changing rooms are nice and clean, the weights & machines are new and clean, they have a juice bar, a nice tanning area, a crossfit area, a good amount of cardio equipment, nice tvs, a cinema cardio area, and a kids daycare area. Everything in this gym is nice and they have everything you really need. They only issue I have encountered is that the dumbbells arent put back in order but thats not the gyms fault.. For $19 a month its definitely worth it.
This place is your generic globo-gym in a former big box store.Theres the positives that come with that: a good amount of treadmills and other cardio equipment, large group exercise rooms, lots of weight training equipment. But theres also the downside: the place gets crowded at peak, 20-somethings overdosing on creatine doing a gazillion sets on the bench press each and every time they visit make it difficult to find room to lift at peak times, and the locker rooms and mats arent always kept as clean as Id like since many of the members dont seem to see a need to clean up after themselves. They also have a nice functional training area with a field turf-like surface, Olympic platform, kettlebells, tires and more. It would be really cool ... IF you were actually allowed to use it. Unfortunately the doors are perpetually locked and it seems you need to either work there or have some magic entry code to actually use it. I later found out you needed to be working with a personal trainer to use it. WTF!?!Im not sure there are any better alternatives in the immediate vicinity at the same price point and it seemed like they had a steady stream of new customers walking in the door, so they seem to be doing okay. But to be honest, not opening the functional training area was a dealbreaker for me especially since the place is so generic there really arent any other features that make it stand out relative to the competition.
Great gym, clean, good parking, machines work
Dairy Queen place a people cut in on you in the middle of doing a circuit do not like that
They really needs to clean their machines. They are full of dust mainly the Arc... so whos doing the cleaning?
The worst gym in the history of worst gyms. AVOID AT ALL COST. The owners are awful, the business ethics are awful, the gym itself is subpar, DO NOT DO THIS TO YOURSELF.
They hid extra charges to you when you try to leave and they are rude to you when you try to call and get it resolved. Cancelled back in July and they still charged me . It is unreal how they treat you when you want to leave there gym. all smiles to get you in and when you leaves they try to get every extra dime out of you. If your a veteran be where. no stars.
Great place, great staff, no messing around with financial trickery as some gyms are criticized for regularly.
Nice gym to go to for most people
Great equipment nice people.
Good vibe, family friendly.
You guys need to move youre signs thats why thats is so many accidents in front of this place either move them or get sued
Nice place for a pump.
Convenient, clean and plenty of equipment.
Financial lady tried to extort me when I told her I wasnt happy with their service and that I wasnt interested in coming back or paying anymore monthly fees.
The Best Athletic Club in the Area.
Not much cleaning or organisation of the weights by staff. Can be very busy at peak times.
Its as though they wont let me cancel and I get a surprise bill every few months despite having cancelled multiple times that they wont refund. I get an attitude when I go in and confront them then this happens again. Im pregnant, and incapable of going to the gym right now. Thanks for the help aspen.
Excellent gym.
Top Notch gym
Dirty. Staff arent attentive.
Great gym
My favorite gym
Love Aspen
Been a member for years. Friendly staff!
