These guys are great barbers and I like the outcome, and the conversation. I had a recommendation to see them from a friend and his partner, I followed up and decided to go. I even remembered to get cash. The place is a small 2 chair setup. The wait can sometimes be a while, but is worth it. They take their time and do what you ask, or have good sense when you dont know what you want. The price is less than a place like Rudys and as good a quality as any barber in town. Highly recommended!
Showed him a picture of what I wanted and got a nice clean cut exactly like it! Thank you so much!
Old school, no frills. Been going there nearly 30 years
Ten bucks cheaper than Rudy’s. Really friendly owner / barber. Quality haircut.
Great, two seat barber shop. Been going for years and never had a bad cut, but I dont ask for anything too complicated.
Good haircut, gonna be going back
First barber shop Ive been to since moving to Seattle. My hair and beard were a mess, but Ian was up to the challenge. He listened to what I wanted and went to work. 3 more customers came in while I was getting cut, and I didnt feel like Ian rushed at all. He kept going back and working on the fade I asked for. Im always cautious when asking for a beard trim, as I usually grow for about a year. Ian set me up to continue growing. Ill be back.
Got a good hair cut at a good price and had good conversation with Tim, from Tim’s barber shop.5/5 would recommend.
Went in asking the barbers recommendation on getting a fade or a taper while I grow the top out. No response. Chair turned away from the mirror the entire time. Guy didnt seem to want to talk at all, thats fine, its not a necessity. Cut was quick, I was in a hurry to get home so I paid and left.Would have been fine with the haircut until I got home and checked the back of my head to see how he did (he didnt offer me a mirror once he finished so I could see how it looked while I was still in the chair). The taper looks terrible, its uneven with the right side behind my ear up a lot higher than the other side with no blending whatsoever. If youre going there in the evening after work and the younger guy is holding down the shop, keep walking because I would not recommend trusting him with your head of hair.
Tims a great guy, and I get a bunch of compliments on my haircut 😎😅
Only one Barber working at a time now but its still the best barbershop in Seattle... As long as you bring cash youll love it.
Price is right, haircut is on par with price
Been going here 20 years, best old school barber shop in town.
Good neighbourhood Place to get a haircut
If you are looking for a traditional cut in a place with a homey feel, so friendly that you may totally forget youre in the big city, then look no further. Theyre happy to chat in the timeless fashion of barbers, but also happy to let you relax quietly, if thats more your speed. And the cut itself? Superb. Ive requested different things on different occasions, and theyve always nailed it. When I havent been clear, theyve been patient and asked just the right questions. I moved miles away a few years back, and still make my way to Tims for almost every cut. I love this place.
These guys are super rude and not good at cutting hair. Went three times, one of the barbers are definitely better than the other.Edit: This was three times in summer of 2016.
Awesome spot. Great fun and excellent, consistent haircuts. Top notch value. Be sure to support local family businesses like this one who have been around for a long time. They make Seattle what it is. If you want to be part of the community support community and make sure this family business sticks around
This was the worst haircut I’ve received. I have a full head of hair and ask the barber to “ trim up the sides and take a little off of the top”.The result was almost a buzz cut! Very short on top and whitewall sides. So short that the hair stood straight up! The barber did not shave my sideburns or neck. He seemed in a hurry to get finished. He was recommended to me by my brother-in-law. Won’t go back and can’t recommend this place. The name should be “Tim the Butcher shop”. G. Guenther
A wonderful way to start out fresh
The legendary Dino Patricelli told me about this place and I need to take his grandkids, soon!Tim I want our maiden voyage to Tims to be with you!
I got an OK cut. But honestly the whole experience was extremely cold. The guy never once smiled, when I came in he never said a word. It was all upon me to make any sort of conversation. What happened to hello? The friendliness factor here is zero. What a shame to be honest as someone who has lived here for 15 years...there are so many places on the Hill to get a hair cut, I would never come back here.
High quality haircuts; genuine old school place.
Poor experience, which I feel obligated to let other prospective customers know about. Based on research and online reviews, I went in expecting a traditional barbershop, not a trendy salon, so no problems there. Place is clean and tidy, another good sign.Arrived. The barber didnt greet me. When it was my turn, he turned the chair in my direction without a word. Fine--willing to overlook the off-putting, unfriendly customer service if the haircut is quality, but didnt get that either. Usually, barbers have chair face the mirrors so you can check how its going. At the very least, they turn the chair around at the end to let you make sure it was what you wanted. This barber kept the chair turned away from mirrors for the entirety of the haircut, and didnt even turn it at the end. Again, may have overlooked this if the haircut corresponded to what I asked for, but it was shockingly shorter than my very standard request. Please, be a little more friendly, and turn your chair toward the mirrors so the customers can see what youre doing. Would have liked to support this local business, but wont be back.
Great old fashioned barber shop giving great haircuts. Tim, the owner and main barber is very friendly and talented. The shop has an old fashioned feel to it and seems more grounded than other fancier barbers in the area. It is also way more personal than places like sportsclips or the like, given also more expensive than those types of places.Pretty sure tim’s only does men’s and boys cuts, so be aware of that.
This place is awesome and all employees are great and friendly. Widney is the best!! I would highly recommend!!
Tims gives good haircuts at a good price. I have been a long time customer. However, I have showed up multiple times during business hours only to see a sign such as gone to wedding or just a locked shop with a sign that they will be back in 1-1.5 hours. At this point it has happened three times out of the last five or six so I will be going elsewhere since I cannot reliably plan on getting a haircut during the hours they have posted on the front door.
The space generally reminded me of my Grandparents basement but I got a good, quick, cheap haircut! No complaints
Just wanted to give a shout out to this place. If youre a man, you should get your hair cut here. Theres a Rudys down the street that charges like $36 for a haircut, but this place is only $19, and the quality is just as good, in my opinion. No frills, friendly, small, locally-owned business, etc. There usually isnt a wait, or at most maybe 1 person is ahead of you.Just a heads up: it is cash only (but there is an ATM in the QFC across the street).
I would not recommend going here unless you want the old man to mess up your hair. After looking at a picture I just showed him. The worst haircut I have ever got!
Worth the wait and a cut that I like without a salon price.
Its a barber shop, plain and simple. Cash only, fun stuff playing on TV, $19 haircuts, what a deal in Capitol Hill compared to $35+ haircuts everywhere else.
I will not be returning. It was a good cut. No wait, friendly staff. But I was not given the cut I asked for. Very disappointed. Chair was turned away from the mirror so I didn’t see the damage being done. Apparently when you ask for a *little* trim and a medium fade, he heard hack it all off and do a high fade. I look like I’m about to invade Iraq.
Best haircuts ever by Tim or Iane. The cuts are professional. Been going here forever. I get clean tapers on the back and sides and a little off the top most times. Always done correctly, evenly, quickly at a reasonable cost. I think the one star people must have had bad days. Everytime I am in the shop people are welcomed, treated respectfully and enjoy the neighborhood feeling and kid and family friendly atmosphere. These guys are great. Highly recommended.
Great haircut every time I go. Small old-school Seattle shop too!
Quick, quality mens haircut. Decently priced compared to other places in Seattle.
Customer of almost 10 years. Love this place and hope it never leaves Capitol Hill.
I love this place. Its family run and represents a by-gone era where a haircut was just that, not a prissy salon thing. The guys just know how to make the best of my thinning hair and simply do the right thing. I dont have to explain how I want it, I just say give me a regular hair cut and they know what to do and it comes out right. They usually have something good on the TV and the wait is usually tolerable. 15th is busy so parking is sometimes hard to come by.Its cash only, which is the only real down side. I can understand not wanting to pay credit card fees, but Ive had to run out to an ATM a few times which stressed me out.
In a barber I want quality and consistency. Tims delivers on both accounts. No fashion magazines. Just a great cut.
Great place at a great price. I wish they would add online or call-in reservation to save customers time. So far, I could get my hair cut without having to wait for more than 15 minutes, but when time is tight and if it is a weekend day, avoid them as you might have to wait for your haircut.
One of the more inexpensive places to get a haircut that still does a great job. Ive recommended them to my friends.
Great place for a mens haircut. Cash only, $17 a cut, walk-ins only. There may be a short wait depending on the time of day. The owner Tim is completely frank and honest, great to chat with.
Only one style for everyone. He asked how short would I like, I showed him and said I’d like to keep my hair about 4 inches long. Same hair style. He cut me all the way to 1 inch short and fked up in the back. Kept cutting and trimming because he couldn’t make it right. Haircut 101: if you’re not sure don’t cut way too short first so you have some hair length to trim it right later. And if you know you fked it up, don’t keep cutting short, let it be before it’s too fked up. Don’t take customer’s request seriously. Just cut hair, literally.
Old school barber shops sans the shave. I received an excellent cut, prices are reasonable and cash only. It has none of the fluff of the metrosexual joints so if you want a real mans hair cut, come here.
Great haircut great place really short Waite. website pricing needs to be updated, website advertised $17 but the prices have understandably gone up to $19. would go back again and again,
Great barber! I highly recommend this place for a quick and inexpensive but quality cut as it is only $19 compared to Rudys $30+.
Love the place. No nonsense, great cut, super reasonable price.
I was hoping for an inexpensive well done haircut, but today I got the worst haircut Ive ever gotten. The barber did nothing that I asked for and I could tell he did not care by his haphazard use of the clippers. Everything was cut uneven: the sideburns, the bangs, and there was even a chunk of my hair buzzed out that did not match the other side. Normally if a haircut isnt exactly what I want I dont care, but this was embarrassing, so much so that I buzzed my head when I got home. The barber completely ignored my requests and had me turned away from the mirror the entire time. Additionally, the barber kept making racially charged comments, which I recognize he wasnt trying to be offensive but they were definitely unnecessary and added to an already uncomfortable experience. Overall this was a terrible haircut and I definitely will not be back.
Walked in during a quiet morning, first time Ive been there. Best haircut Ive had in quite awhile.
Best barbershop in Seattle, hands down!
Great conversation with great guys while you get a top quality haircut at a very reasonable price. Wouldnt go anywhere else.
A real barber! Very nice. Highly recommended!
Great haircut & better atmosphere than the other barber shop on 15th
Both guys are great.
We have always gotten perfect haircuts at this barber shop.
Very good! very skilled barber. I am very happy.
Good consistent haircut, typically done fast, for a good price, with minimal conversation.
Absolutely fantastic barber shop! I have been going here for years.
-Asked for a fade. Didnt get a fade-Cut off my sideburns without asking-Uneven cut
This barber shop brings shame to barber shops Across the country. It feels like you are getting a haircut from your uncle. There tools are cheapPs this is my first bad review
If you area white guy I’m sure you will be fine here..,, anybody else I can guarantee will be disappointed....
First of all - the guy who cut my hair is not a talker. He gives off an introverted vibe which is fiiiine by me, because I love to concentrate on the soothingness that is getting my hair cut without being distracted by chit chat. The guy below me reviewed this place as a one-star because he was butthurt the barber didnt roll out the red carpet nor sounded the trumpets to usher him into the Barbers chair - get over yourself, princess.I would never be able to find a $19 haircut in this neighborhood (Rudys across the street is $32 for mens cut) let alone one this good. My last cut was $60 at 18/8 in Redmond - this guy cut my hair just as good for less than 1/3 price. My hair is very fine and straight and has been normally a nightmare to fade. This guy faded my hair as great or better than the best Ive ever had. Ill be back.
Classic barber shop. $21 haircuts. Ive gone to Tim and Ian for two decades.
Always the same quality haircut. You can count on them to get it right.
Great haircut for a fare price. Get my haircut there again.
Tim and Iain are both great barbers. tim
Good price for a great, professional cut.
Great to see an old school place survive in this Neighborhood
No frills haircut I love it.
Great Haircut 👌🏾
Quick, efficient, reasonably priced. Cash Only though..
Good haircut, no frills, great price
Traditional barbershop - simple, quick, and cheap!
Where I go to get my hair cut.
Great cut, quick and not expensive
Worst haircut Ive ever had, worst barbershop experience Ive ever had.
The freshest.
Great barbershop!
