I have been living at The Mill for 2.5 years now. Great location close to downtown and several other locations including work places and transit ! Well priced apartments at a great location! Has a rooftop and pool area as well! Sweet and nice residents with cute pets! The office people are super friendly including the maintenance staff, issues are always prioritized and resolved super quickly!Special shout out to Hiro for always being so kind and helpful !
I lived there from 2016 to mid 2021 and loved living there. The manager, office and maintenance people were super friendly and always ready to help with anything. I never had a single issue that wasnt addressed. One time they had an issue with water so they offered stay at a near by hotel for all the residents which was pretty nice. The rooftop has an iconic downtown view. You will not regret living there. Shout out to Hiro for just being so awesome with our 6 year stay there! :)
I had a tour at the Mill a few month back and really wanted to move there but my commute to and from work would not made it possible. The staff there were friendly and made us felt at home. During the tour, I over heard a conversation between a resident and a maintenance staff as he finish working on the unit and it had a very small community vibe feeling and I knew this was the kind of place I want to come home to. They have lots of amenities. My favorite would be the gym, theater and speakeasy which is like a lounge that included a pool table. Every floor has 2 recycling bins and surprising, they have a someone that bring it down everyday and dump it into a bigger bin. I felt bad for him. Hopefully he get paid well because because thats a lot of work put on his back. Beside that, the place is really nice and if my situation changes, I would definitely rent from here.
Been here over a year and I really like living here! For reference I live in tower 1 and in one of the renovated units, & so far I havent had any real issues with the apartment at all, and the view from my window is gorgeous! Management is super responsive and reliable, I made 2 minor maintenance requests (nothing broken, my fault) and the repairman came by and fixed things super quick, like less than a day. The management team is really nice and has always been super helpful, they seriously go above and beyond and help me with all sorts of silly stuff (thank you Katelyn, youre seriously the best!) No bugs or rats or anything either, not even a spider. I left to quarantine with my family for a couple of months in 2020, and when I came back everything was just as I left it, the management team was even nice enough to check on my apartment a couple of times and let my friends in to water my plants while I was gone. Location is great, 10-15 minute walk from basically anywhere Ive ever wanted to go in downtown or cap hill, (and if youre Catholic the cathedral is literally a 3 minute walk away). The amenities are nice but to be honest I personally havent used them much, nothing wrong with them Im just busy. Theres shared laundry machines but Ive never had my laundry stolen or anything. Only gripe is that the elevators get broken a lot, but theres 3 of them so at least one is almost always working, and that the little room number light outside my door has been broken since before I moved in and doesnt seem like itll be fixed at any point (apparently it uses some specialty bulb or something, but honestly Im nitpicking at this point). Overall Ive had a great experience living here!
I have enjoyed my time at the Mill in Seattle tremendously. The facilities (both the buildings recreation rooms, elevators, roof access, gym, pool, and hot tub) are clean and continually managed with care and attention. I really appreciate how much the staff go above and beyond to make sure residents are happy. Some street construction recently caused the power to go out through the property and I took note at how Matt and the team fostered a solution while also directing questions and concerns professionally. Initially I was impressed with the a-class location, but Sequoias commitment to their community ended up being just as impressive. From leasing agents like Katelyn to the managers like Hiro to maintenance specialists like Evan, thank you!
Chris has always been helpful and made the move from Texas a great one! Shout out to Chris!
Katelyn is the GOAT. She made finding an apartment in the middle of a pandemic so easy. I was a little stressed about not being able to see the apartment before moving, however, the Mill at First Hill did their best with their prompt communication. It did take a while to have someone reach me back, but it was nice of them to reach me during these hard times with the pandemic and I was able to have someone call me immediately once I requested specific information through their communication portal. I was able to get an appointment to view the apartment! Katelyn was the most awe inspiring person to introduce me to the Mill at First Hill! She made everything so easy and I was very appreciative of her time and energy! She greeted me with a wonderful smile and showed me around the Apartments. In the Tour, She included the gym, showed how to work the front entrance, took me through the apartment I rented from her, and talked about the amazing incentives for first time customers that I was not even aware off! She also did an amazing job following through answering my questions with the tour as well through email after the tour. Honestly, she has been the best experience I ever had in this whole Move!!! Anytime I have any more questions or concerns I will just go straight to her, she has earned by business and trust! The Mill at First Hill is definitely a nice Vintage Building. You can see that in their walkways but they also added a few key up to date features added to the building that makes it Pop in a great way! I also love the diversity of neighbors in the Mill at First Hill. I have seen Young to Old, Business Professionals to Retired Folk, Hipster People to Dog Lovers, its so nice seeing a true Community as well within the confines! I definitely recommend seeing Katelyn for all your Move In Concerns at First Hill! No one can compare to her level of service, kindness and professionalism, she is simply the Best!
I recently decided to move into The Mill and from day one, the experience with them has been excellent! Very helpful and professional staff who make the application process a breeze. The building itself is phenomenal. Love the location and all of the great amenities that come along with it (especially the hot tub and rooftop patio)! Highly recommend The Mill and vouch for their hospitality and welcoming atmosphere.
Love living here so far. My wife and I are a short walk to work downtown and we have plenty of things to do with our dog in the area. The staff is very helpful and kind.In terms of the rooms, I love the view and he living room feels HUGE for a Seattle apartment. Well priced too!
Best customer service, and very attentive to my needs. Quality apartments with an at home feel.Michael Bell and Hiro were great to me.
This has been one of our worst apartment experiences, and the most expensive. Between frequently absent management, to full evacuation from fire issues, to car break ins for a $200+m spot, complete power outages, peeping toms, and complete lack of any cooking ventilation. I really feel like we get the most out of our $2,400+m apartment. Yikes! Do not rent.EDIT: In light of the CM Reply, allow me to amend my review. The building staff, absolutely has a degree of control when it comes to handling unforeseen events. It is natural, rather, expected, that in a time like 2020 where everyone is staying at home, that things like power use, and issues, may happen. Thats completely understandable, and I dont think anyone can really hold blame for events that occur. What is disgusting, is being awoken at nearly 3:30 AM, not by your alarm system, but by the fire department, because your alarms didnt go off (Controllable by the staff of the Mill), whats disgusting, is when you get no useful information for 12 hours afterwards other than a single vague message saying Were working on it then try to reach out on the community portal to fellow residents to see if maybe someone else had learned useful information during the time, to get that censored with the following message.Your post that was submitted on 12/11/20 was rejected after reviewed by the property management.Hi Emily, We tried to keep you as informed as possible. Unfortunately we were kept just as much in the dark by the electricians. The problem is handled now, we apologize for the inconvenience. Best regards, Chris Salerno
The Mill is the perfect mix of the classic old Seattle feel with new amenities. Ive been living on the property for 6 months and could not be happier with my apartment. Additionally, leasing agents worked with me through a difficult move in and I couldnt be happier.
My husband and I been living at The Mill for the past 6 months. We absolutely love our apartment and the facilities! The location is great, right in downtown Seattle. The staff are friendly and helpful! The facilities are well kept and clean! We couldn’t ask for much more!
Great affordable place in First Hill Area
We aren’t currently living at The Mill as we are still in our current lease/figuring out our plan but I have to say that the team here is amazing! Katelyn is so thorough and personable and has made our search for our new home so easy!! Highly recommend them!
Great location and price if you work in downtown. I pretty much walk everywhere and havent had to use my car much. The leasing office is friendly and prompt. The amenities like pool table and hot tub are nice to have. Overall great experience so far!
I recently visited The Mill apartments and I had a great experience! Right when I walked in the door I was greeted and made to feel comfortable. I really appreciated there willingness to take the time to fully answer all of my questions. If anybody is looking for a great place to live, I’d definitely recommend checking them out!
Clean, great location, reasonable price (its Seattle) and very kind people. Spoke to Olivia in the leasing office and she was very helpful with everything that Mill has to offer. Looking forward to the next year here!
Had a tour of The Mill and was very impressed. Classy, close to downtown, spotless as we made our way through the building and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Overall a great experience.
The leasing consultant katelyn fridlund has been more than helpful in finding my roommate and I an apartment at the Mill in a fast, stress free, and timely manner Despite the pandemic. It has been an absolute delight working with her! Looking forward to the move in!
Great location if working downtown and South Lake Union.I love the lobby and gym/hot tube and the units are well updated.I recommend this apartment and appreciate their staff!
Josiah toured my girlfriend and I around the property today and we had a great experience! All of the other places we went to today we felt like a burden but Josiah was very welcoming by offering us coffee and water and answered all of our questions. He was not a pushy salesman and just seemed genuinely interested in finding us a home regardless if it was at the mill or not.
Fantastic amenities in the heart of downtown and great views of the city! Beautiful place to live within walking distance to the city!
Fairly disappointed with the unprofessional behavior from the leasing office. Amenities are the saving grace, building is fairly old even with renovation. The gym is average. The top floor units have good Downtown Seattle views. The bathrooms come with only standing showers. No in-unit laundry.
The leasing department are Matt, Kaitlyn, Josiah, and Hiro and theyre all great and friendly. Whenever Im working from home I like ly spend a few hours to work around the loft where the free coffee is. The atmosphere is great and Ive gotten know my neighbors. Ive had coffee with the leasing crew and they are always a pleasure to work with whenever I have a problem. The Mill is a great experience and I will likely renew my lease when it ends or upgrade to a one bedroom. :)
It is very important to my wife and me to write this review and express how appreciative we are of Nicole and the team at The Mill on First Hill. We have had two years with the former management company and then resigned our third year with the Mill on First Hill. Nicole was very informative and was conceptual on the layout of the building. She listened very well to our needs. We ended up moving across the hall to a brand new apartment. In doing so, we were an easy sell for the fine accouterments of the brand new apartment. Our new home is spacious, has a fantastic view and is exactly in the price range we had anticipated. We feel lucky have a new lease at the exact price point we were formerly in but with brand new floors, walls and appliances. We had sensitivities in moving due to having two dogs, one very high maintenance and 9-5 schedules. Nicole gave us a move in date and she held to her word. The place was ready and we had keys in hand when she said we would. Her response time on emails was usually within the hour, we even had the flexibility of taking our lease home with us so we could have the time to read through it. We had an electrical snafu when we moved in and the team impressed us greatly with how the issue was handled and quickly fixed. It was the amenity we received upon signing, the personalized accent wall, the warm personal responses and the genuine care for our family that really makes us appreciate living here.
Great apartments, but what really sets this place apart is the location and the staff. Within easy walking distance there are many restaurants and plenty of entertainment. The staff are very quick to deal with any issues, and are incredibly friendly. Isaac and Joe in the office will go above and beyond to make sure tenants needs are met. Definitely impressed.
Stephanie, Allison, Joe, and Isaac are amazing! I enjoy staying at the Mill. I love the location and the atmosphere, everything is within walking distance! They have two dog parks and have an awesome fitness facility. I also enjoy the hot tub, pool, and the Starbucks coffee machine. Joes movie nights in the movie theater are so much fun!! I highly recommend The Mill at First Hill!
This is a great apartment complex! My unit is very dated, but the price and amenities make up for it (they have more modern units as well). I love the pool, hot tub, and parcel pending service. The office team is also exceptional! Theyre always positive, professional, and accommodating. The only negative would be the very long elevator wait time (theyre old, slow, inefficient, and often out of order), but that barely counts as a complaint. I love living here and would recommend it to anyone!
I went to visit Seattle and stayed at the Mill with my friend Isaac, and I loved it. I loved the roof access as well as the hot tub, gym, pool and many other amenities. Truly a beautiful piece of property in a great location. The Mill is in walking distance from several great bars and restaurant and it’s a place I would love live if I ever decided to move to Seattle.
Great service from the workers. They are friendly, work hard to help you with what you need, and keep up with cleanliness. I also have had good experiences with all the other tenants. The location isn’t perfect but met all my needs
Love this place! The Mill is in an amazing location - within walking distance of both downtown shopping and Capitol Hill! The hot tub, gym, and roof-top are my favorite amenities and are well maintained. The staff is warm and friendly and so are many of the residents. I definitely recommend checking it out!
Great property! Located in a perfect location in downtown Seattle, its close to everything you can possibly think of doing! Its got a great staff with a lot of personal care that goes into what they do! A great place to live for anyone looking for a downtown location!
Love the Mill! Great gym and centrally located. Also the staff is pretty great.
Very bad place to live. Very old building.
Once the new ownership of this complex took over it has been a 180 from where it was. They have renovated all of the common areas which was much needed. The staff is amazing and know you on a first name basis. The turn-around for requests is usually very fast.
Basically an oasis in the middle of a big city. Very fairly priced for location, quality, amenities, and service. My favorite part is the outdoor pool and hottub which has great privacy being bordered by a fence and tall trees--you dont even realize youre in the city. Other amenities are well kept, and the new management is fantastic. They are so responsive to any resident needs. As far as location goes, its the perfect midpoint between Downtown and Capitol Hill with both being walkable.
I know this post is long, but its boils down to simply:STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE - DUMP WHERE LANDLORD TRIES TO SCREW YOU AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.After being there for a year and a half, I really dont understand how anyone rates this place more than 1 star. As a lot of the other reviewers have noted, this building is absolutely terrible.First, the units are old and have huge problems. For example, the windows dont probably close and when there is any amount of wind, will rattle incredibly loudly. In addition to being loud, the blinds themselves dont work to actually keep out any light.Second, it seems that there is only one hot water unit in the entire building which means anytime you take a shower, good luck on the temperature. Not only does it take 3+ minutes to warm up, it constantly fluctuates because unsurprisingly, other people are using the water. It can go from scalding hot to lukewarm in less than a second, which is shocking given how long it takes to heat up.Third, there is no ventilation in the bathroom. This means that if you take a shower, not only do you get the joy of setting the smoke alarm if you open the bathroom door within 10 minutes of taking a shower, you also fog your entire room and your windows are just a mess of condensation.Fourth, management is goes out of their way to screw you out of as much money as possible. When I first got there, they allowed a check drop off. Now, in order to provide extra convenience for the tenants, they stopped allowing check drop offs in exchange for online payment for a huge extra fee. In addition, they changed laundry to a card that doesnt allow any refunds for unused amounts. Not only do they try to screw you in every fee while living there, they make up bogus charges to bill you when you leave.Fifth, the elevators are absurd. Not only is at least one elevator (out of three) out of service at any given time, but they will also randomly stop at floors or two will open up at once.Sixth, there has been a beeping alarm that goes off 24/7 for at least the last 5 months that I was there on the bottom floor.
Awesome complex! I was set to move into another place down the street, but changed my mind after I checked out The Mill. Stephanie showed me the complex and the apartment that I now live in. We ran into a few employees while Stephanie was showing me the gym and she introduced me to the maintenance team. Even though they looked busy, they each stopped to shake my hand and tell me a little bit about themselves and the city which I really appreciated. What really made me choose this place was when we got back to the office and another resident told me he had lived here 30 years and that the current management and employees have such big hearts and make him feel like family. They have helped me numerous times since I moved in and already I feel like family too.
Very competitive pricing with great amenities. It is an older building but is maintained very well and is in an awesome location. Would definitely recommend!
Great location, buildings renovated and lovely. Stunning views. Just renewed lease. I am always impressed with office staff and maintenance staff. Pool, jacuzzi, great rooftops. I highly recommend this property. Good price point also. 😊😊💵
Our residency started at 8th and Spring Street in January 2014. There was a prior ownership group at that time and this review is for the Mill on First Hill team. We moved into a two bedroom and eventually made our way across the hall to a beautiful, remodeled one-bedroom. The apartment itself speaks volumes as we loved every aspect. The flooring was easy to keep clean and we liked the finished look of it. We had an open kitchen that allowed for us to cook, work and be together as a family. The bedroom closet was spacious. The bathroom was easy to keep clean and functional. We liked the color palate, which fit well with our personal tastes and it was a nice touch that an accent wall was complimentary with our lease transfer from across the hall. Aesthetics aside, the Mill team was unlike anything we had experienced before. The team was always responsive, often immediately helping us out with anything we needed. They knew our names and we’re sweet to our pups as well. We were always greeted with a smile in the office or on property. The transformation of the property including the speakeasy, package lockers, patio furniture, carpeting, etc. really showcases the investment from the company as well. We’ve rented for years and years in various cities across the States and this by far has been a top-notch experience. A job transfer out of the city has caused us to leave, but we were so impressed with the service and care that we decided to stay with the same company renting from Sequoia again in our new home. A special thank you goes to Xavier and Christine who helped make our internal transfer so smooth.
The price of this place seems reasonable for the location, and the staff is friendly, but thats as good as it gets.We lived there for a year. A few months into the lease, we couldnt wait for the lease to be over. Here are a few reasons:Noise: The building is shaped like a horseshoe facing the high way, which acts like an amplifier. Expect louder than normal city noises. The complex is in the center of the hospital district so the sirens go all day and night. The walls arent sounds proof and I could hear my one of my neighbors snoring. It was loud enough to wake us up a few times.Safety: I have seen two cars got broken into in the complex. One car was parked inside the underground garage, the other car was parked in the future resident spot. There is a homeless shelter just across the street, so you often see homeless people wandering the streets at night, occasionally shouting and screaming.Elevator: There are 3 elevators in each building. They break down all the time. It usually take several weeks to fix. When 2 of the elevators break down, it could take up to 10 to 15 minutes for the elevator to come. We had to climb the stairs from time to time.Hot water: The pressure of the hot water reduced significantly toward the end of our lease. The water from the shower was colder than body temperature. I was not pleasant especially during the coldest days of the winter.Last but not least: we were glad to move out finally, then we received a bill from The Mill. They charged us a $220 cleaning fee. We cleaned the apartment inside out before we moved out and we have take pictures to proof, so we were surprised by this bill. We called the office, and we were told they charge this $220 cleaning fee to everyone, no matter what. This mandatory cleaning fee was never mentioned to us, it’s not even written in the contract. We decided to pay this bill, but share our experience so that you don’t fall in this trap as we did.Stay away at all costs!
We moved to the Mill in December and weve had a pretty wonderful experience here. The amenities are incredible and the location cant be beat! Everything is 10 minutes away. Great price point for units as well. The team at the office is quick to help when needed.
I am fortunate to have landed a short-term lease with The Mill while in the area for work during the summer. The location is prime. Almost anything is a short, scenic walk away - Pioneer Square, Capitol Hill, Pikes Place Market, etc. The building is well kept, and the community is really nice. If anyone is looking for a place to stay, The Mill is worth considering!
Great price for the location! Amazing staff and cool amenities.
I was relocating internationally to Seattle, and had a lot of moving parts to settle logistically. Nicole was very helpful throughout the leasing and moving in process by being very accommodating to my busy schedule, and thinking about possible needs or wants in the foreseeable future and how she could be of assistance. Javier was also a HUGE help when I was moving in and getting things setup in my apartment. He was attentive and empathized with some of the challenges I incurred and was helpful as best as he could be.The team is very responsive and truly makes an effort to make you feel as comfortable as you possible in your new home! I look forward to living here for at least the next year and experiencing the community at The Mill at First Hill.
Want to give a huge shoutout to Isaac for making The Mill At First Hill our unanimous choice to be our new home. It was an absolute pleasure working with him! Love the amenities and energy our new home brings to my first place in Seattle. Would definitely recommend living here!
Great Apartments for the price and location. Staff is quick and accommodating.
I love the location and the rooftop has a beautiful view! The staff is extremely nice and helpful. I definitely recommend checking it out!
Ive never felt more at home than my time spent here at the Mill. When we first moved in we got such an amazing deal for a very affordable price it was too good to be true. The people who work here are very friendly and helpful and I consider myself as one of the luckiest people living in the heart of the city of my dreams!
This is one of the best places to stay near Downtown or Amazon buildings. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. They are quick with maintenance request. The only problem is noise since there is a hospital near by.
Just started my move into The Mill, we worked with Isaac who gave us a top notch tour and made the application and move in process very easy. He was very welcoming and understanding and I would reccomend anyone planning to move in or even planning on having a tour to ask for Isaac.
Great location and beautiful amenities with reasonable pricing!!
Reception was fantastic! Greeted by a friendly staff. Units were clean and up todate. Refreshing to see an establishment that maintains high standards and great customer service.
Staff is great and very helpful with everything from maintenance to changing parking spots because my new car doesn’t fit into the garage. Awesome place that’s worth the price.
The Mill has given me one of best living experiences Ive ever had!! Compared to the location, prices are relatively much cheaper than other apartments in the area with no compromises for the same amenities. I definitley think they have the best prices considering that its located right at the heart of the city which makes going anywhere very convenient. downtown and cap hill are both only a short walk away. I also love how the entire place has just been renovated since its an old building. An infusion between vintage and modern
Could not say enough about how great my experience at the Mill was. I lived there for just over year and would have happily stayed longer but I was living with a roommate at the time and ended up moving into a 1 bedroom somewhere a little more affordable. The building is well kept and newly renovated. The location is incredible, its basically a 10 min walk to anything you would want (bars in cap hill, restaurants downtown, plenty of city parks). Tough to find a downtown apartment complex with a pool as well! Admittedly parking is not easy to find if you dont buy a parking space in their parking lot, but other than that I loved my time at The Mill. The staff was friendly and attentive and made the move out/move in process very easy and made sure any concerns that arose during my lease were addressed promptly. Keep up the good work Mill staff!
Not one to write reviews, but I feel obligated out of respect for the entire staff under the new management. They consistently go out of their way to accommodate the residents and have made moving in a breeze. The buildings are kept extremely clean and the maintenance crew does a great job addressing service requests quickly. The rooftop view is gorgeous and the fitness center / pool areas are exceptional. For the price and location, this apartment is worth looking at.Only knock is the several renovation projects going on around the building during the weekdays. However, one can assume this issue takes care of itself once the projects finish.
[Update] The move out experience ruined it. They basically sucked every penny they could, out of the security deposit, because policy. The house was super clean as per them -- but still charged $140 because they have this policy. The carpet looked super awesome as per them, but they still charged $90, because, you-guessed-it, policy. However the local management team has a good attitude, this review is about the seemingly unfair policies that they have (which probably the local management team cant do much about). In the past -- like an year back or so -- they used to have horrible management, but that has changed and the current team seemed good, though personally didnt have much interaction.
No complaints, easy move in and accommodating staff.
I agree with the poster above. The apartment has bed bugs and none of the admins care about the problems of the tenants. However, the community manager was very helpful when my apartment got bed bugs. She went out of her way to ensure that my apartment was sprayed repeatedly. Also, do not get fooled by their amenities - their pool is dirty, the business center does not have computers or a printer and most of the cardio equipment is in desperate need of repair.
Ive lived in Seattle 10 years and this is by far the worst apartment Ive ever lived in. I could write a novel on why this place is terrible, the management are borderline slum lords, they nickel and dime you and overcharge at every possible opportunity, the apartments are made of the lowest quality material they could find, things are constantly breaking/broken down/out of order, the bimbos in the office can hardly count to 10, the parking company are racist jerks and I wont even go into the people who actually live in the building, most of them are inconsiderate filthy pigs. This building might seem ok and cheap on the quick 5 minute tour but avoid it at all costs!! Cant wait until my lease is over
Great place to be Isaac was very kind and informative about the mill! Gave a great tour
Ive been living here for about a year and a half. I really appreciate the hard work the team puts into making The Mill a wonderful place to live!
The list of negative things about the Mill is just too long. Ill talk about one: rodents.Ive lived in a studio (tower 1) for about 16 months now and have had 3 rodents incidents in that time span. I live on one of the top floors and never fathomed Id be dealing with something like this. From talking to some of the residents of the Mill, its become clear that this is an endemic problem: just down the hall, a neighbor has had to deal with the same problem. The management doesnt seem to mind and nothing is being done about it. Pest control leaves mouse traps in my kitchen and in 3-4 months, another rodent. Disgusting!
Great location, great for walking to work!
If there was a provision for negative rating then that is what this apartment deserves. In short this apartment is for people:1) Who want their privacy to be violated by repeated entries without notice/consent.2) Want to clean-up after workers have galloped across your carpet without heeding a single request of yours.3) Want to have poop gush out of your bath-tub while bathing.4) Want to wade through dog-poops scattered all over the main entrance.5) Oh and tiny pigeon sized elevators are a definite attraction of this wonderful apartment! This is one of the ways they make sure tenants cannot leave the apartment because moving using stairs is a definite pain.6) The laundry room and the trash chute share a room ( yeah you heard that right) approx the size of a closet.7) The hallways and elevators stink disgustingly!Basically if you want to be treated as a filth by the landlords in lieu of lesser rent ( of course its now not in the reasonable range anymore).
Terrible, inexperienced managment that dismissed my 30 day notice at the term of my lease, and billed me for someone elses rent. Poor maintenance because of turnover, took 5 times to fix my running toilet. The rooftop is nice, but youll fall through the broken chairs (whats left of the chairs). The pool is always freezing, no matter how hot it is outside. Mold and mice were also a major issue, as well as broken elevators (that smell like piss). Management is great before you sign anything, once youre in.. good luck getting a response.
Regret moving in:1. Found the kitchen sink leaking second day after moving in and for almost 2 weeks cant use the sink let alone cooking.2. Kitchen trash that went down the pipe popped up in the bath tub. It was horribly disgusting when I recognized some of the yesterdays food in the bath tub ... Service people could not find the root cause and eventually draining the bathtub did the work.3. I have never seen a single time the trash chute clear. It is full and blocked ALL the time.3. Were not informed about laundry card at all. During the room show before we move in, agent told us we can pay with credit card. First time we tried different credit and debit cards. Also funny thing is someone here even stole laundry basket. I left it in the laundry room for picking up dry clothes later and it was gone ...4. Mail key has not been working. I went to the office, they said the new key is like that and agent helped honed it a bit and asked me try again. It still did not work and I am too lazy to bother the office again
Really nice apt. Live here for a year now, cool place, nice people!
Ive had terrible experience with Sequoia Company, they maintenance and manage The Mill at First Hill. Since Sequoia started to manage this building weve had bunch of problems. They started big construction in our building without our permission. Every single day we have problems such as loud construction noise, elevators are almost always out of service, fresh painted walls without warning signs on our floor, closed access for the roof top, open access to the pool and bathtub for anybody from the street, loud screams and broken glass from the pool area at night, hot water is not working again and again (it have happened for at least four times). The Sequoia is not responsible for anything. I did not received any excuses or compensation from Sequoia who brought a lot of inconvenience for me as a tenant. If you are looking for a good apartment stay away from The Mill at First Hill and Sequoia Company!
Expensive and the hallways smell like trash. The trash chute isnt closed off.Response to the mills response:I spent a lot of time here over the last year and the entire time it has smelled. I know that recently you have started to do maintenance and it made the smell worse though.
Highly responsive and engaging staff - Allison & Havier really go out of their way to make you feel welcomed and taken care of. You meet these two wonderful people and not only feel like youve met some incredibly talented people who have your housing needs under control, but youve also found some fantastic (and hilarious) friends. Your needs are appreciated and addressed. Its an incredible experience touring with them! The building was built in the mid 1940s and was bought by an agency based out of L.A. (this is the companys first in Seattle, although it has a few in Portland) and has updated the building whilst trying to maintain its historic integrity which gives it kind of this playful hipster vibe. It is beautifully maintained, its clean, tidy, and has this great atmosphere to it. There is a 24/7 maintenance staff for any emergencies, and the staff even lives on site - which really says something about The Mill! The apartments are updated (some with stainless steal and hardwood floor, which you will pay a bit more for) but have lots of windows and storage space - and with INCREDIBLE views of downtown Seattle and these beautiful evergreen trees which surround the building. Theres a heated pool, a Jacuzzi, an indoor cinema, a party/social room (with a kitchen & 2 tvs), a gym, a secured package room, and even more - the amenities are built into the competitive rent(s). I was impressed with the comprehensive packages available. I was disappointed with the odd angles of some of the apartments, because it makes feng shui a bit difficult, but theres lots of storage space and other benefits to consider. However, there are all new windows which have been deliberately soundproofed to make the building extremely quiet - I had no idea how quiet it was until we opened a window and tested it - incredible! This was done for heating efficiency and also in response to the needs of the residents, which says a lot about the responsiveness and considerate nature of the management team. I would also say the kitchen is great, but dont expect a lot of room for your kitchen table - its more of a bar stools or a cozy breakfast nook type of place. Theres a laundry room on each floor (operated by cards, not coins, and I think its 1.25 per load). There are two towers the apartment complex and they are located in an incredible located - right downtown and within walking distance to the central district. Its great for public transport, driving, or walking... whatever, do your thing. Its extremely safe, and you feel secure and, well, happy, in this very friendly neighbourly atmosphere - its a great neighbourhood! I felt really welcomed.Bonus - theyve just lowered their prices for January, so be sure to give them a call or email b/c their apartments are renting fast. (Theyre a highly responsive management team, so they will get back with you).
Excellent customer service!!
Fantastic location and amenities!
The units themselves are clean, however the windows rattle with the slightest wind blowing against them. The hallways tend to fill up like a “Value Village” thrift shop; elevators are almost always out of service and for us hardly ever stopped on our floor. The pool fills up with non-residents and there is almost always broken glass in the patio area. The roof top deck is beautiful, however features broken chairs and soggy AstroTurf.During our one year lease we experienced management entering the unit 5 times for general maintenance, fire alarm patrols, and bug bed spraying. (Excessive)At move out you should expect to pay a pretty penny with unexpected charges. After leaving our unit immaculate (except for a fresh coat of paint) we were charged over $90 to have it “professionally disinfected”? Evidently it’s a “standard charge” everyone must pay. You will also be expected to pay for carpet shampooing at $70, and you’re first and last month’s utility bill which together will run about $200.
The 1000 apartment has no responsibility for their tenant. In addition, the building has bed bugs problems and the administrators are not helpful and friendly to their tenant.
