The worst management ever. Do not live here they are not helpful and make it the hardest process to even try to live here. Lightbox is overpriced and not worth how much you pay. They also try to sneak charges here and there without you noticing. Do not live here unless your money is growing from trees, it is not worth it at all.

What can I say about Lightbox that others before have not. This place will scam you out of your money, hold onto your deposit for dear life, not respond to your maintenance requests or say that they tried coming by when they did not. Neighbors are amazingly loud, both from neighboring buildings and people who blast music after midnight on the rooftop so loudly that your whole bed vibrates and you can feel the walls beating. Management will not respond to your noise complaints either. Frequently has no water for most of the day and will not provide you with alternative accommodations (so if you’re working from home and need to use the bathroom, good luck). Does not make it clear when you move out what actions you have to take so that they can charge you for extra month-to-month rent. Uses new legislations as an excuse as to why they did not contact you DESPITE telling you they will contact you about moving out. Horrible experience. Scroll through the other reviews and know that this is not my personal experience, but something others can attest to.

They gave me the whole apartment very dirty and with several damaged parts, the first day I moved they began to repair the first room I thought that the apartment was delivered clean and without any damage, I could not sleep well due to the noise they have and the great heat that cannot be supported I had to sleep on the floor where my children because they had the fan on in the first room, all day today my nerves were on edge and I could not work well because of all the noise and heat, another day of construction and I can not sleep again in the room assigned to me because of the great heat that is in that room with the fans

Note when reading other reviews: The management has changed in the past year. Do not trust any reviews about positive management that are from before ~October 2020.The apartments themselves are good quality - thick walls, smart locks, good quality furnishings. Every single other component of the apartment is awful, and you should look elsewhere.* The currently listed rents are incredibly overpriced. Nearly $1800/month for a 450 square foot apartment is a horrible deal.* The apartments are REALLY small. The vast majority of them are less than 500 square feet.* They WILL NOT refund your deposit, and most of the time they will charge you additional cleaning and maintenance fees on top of the deposit without giving a clear reason as to what youre being charged for.* Your first months rent must be paid with certified funds, which requires an unnecessary trip to the bank instead of just letting us pay via check or online banking* The management and maintenance teams are slow to respond; when you submit a ticket expect no one to respond to you for weeks.* There is a lot of noise on both sides of the building. The west-facing side has loud garbage trucks and the east-facing side has leafblowers and construction noises.* The circulation in the apartments is poor due to the shape of the apartments* There is no community forum or any attempt made by management (such as community events), so its difficult to know the people around you* The bike storage charges you $15/month just to store your bike.* Youre forced to sign up for their package service called ParcelPending which is a complete scam. You are charged a $25 sign-up fee and $5/month, and on top of that youre charged $5 for every day your package is in the lockers. On top of that, half the time delivery drivers dont even put the packages in the ParcelPending lockers since theyre in the parking garage that delivery drivers dont always have access to so you dont even get the added security that ParcelPending claims to offer

Lived here for a year. Wonderful place! Lightbox is on a high hill and has the most incredible view of downtown from the roof - if you visit you must see it!The main downside are the students who hang out downstairs or out front on Friday/Saturday nights, and the sliding bedroom doors which offer literally zero privacy. Sliding doors dont block sounds, and I dont know what the designers where thinking.

Mail is stolen continuously and apartment does not care nor is anyone ever in the office, Continuous smell of trash and cigarettes in the hallways, do not move here. In addition the rooms are tiny and there is no counter space whatsoever in the kitchen. Everytime I cook in the kitchen the fire alarm goes off even if the fan is on.

I lived in Lightbox for two years. Building is new and modern. It is not super close to UW, but walking is still possible and its quiet area makes it feel safe. The leasing officers, Jane and Abby, are very responsible and they act fast. I had my washing machine broken and they allowed me to borrow another one from another unit, and Jane even called after hours to make sure that I was able to finally wash my clothes. It was very convenient to stay there, and I wish I could stay longer.

RENTER BEWARE! They have a history of scamming you after you vacate the premises. They do this especially to those who come from out of state. Once you leave and go back home they hit you with made up and unsubstantiated charges like smoke damage and having to paint the entire apartment and ceiling twice! They cant supply pictures or receipts for the repair work. The comical aspect, if there is one, is that during our 3 month time there (2 summer interns), we did not cook and we do not smoke. Their scam is that the amount they charge is not high enough to seriously expend the money necessary to fight them, so in the end, you give them the $1100 they require. We did so because of their threat to go to collections and ruin our credit. As 2 young women still in college, bad credit is a big concern of ours. Unfortunately, I liked the place while living there. But now that I will be returning to Seattle after graduation next year, I will stay clear of this place and learned a great lesson - read the reviews first! Im available if someone wants to start a class action suit!

The Lightbox apartment is the perfect example of a well maintained, clean and comfortable building to be. The staff is amazing and the building has different amenities that makes the place enjoyable to live in. I would encourage everyone that I know to definitely check out the place.

Ive enjoyed my time at Lightbox. Ive been communicating with Abby and Mario while deciding whether to renew or not and they both have been accommodating and helpful as I go through the process. Units seem to be priced similar to other properties I have been looking at. The space isnt huge but I also dont have much stuff so it fits my needs well. Ive never had any safety concerns, it can be loud occasionally either with people outside or the trash trucks but its usually fine. It has a nice view from the roof and is located in a convenient spot near bus lines and grocery stores. They do hold a part of your security deposit to be used for painting and cleaning, but they told me about it before I signed the lease so its basically just a small addition to the rent each month.

The rent seemed reasonable at first but then a number of fees were added after we moved in for parking, packages, and a crazy high amount for trash each month. Upon move out a portion of our security deposit was taken out for painting (which should be normal wear and tear) and they charged $100 for a lost parking pass (cheap piece of plastic). There were also problems with the key faabs throughout my lease and they will charge you if you get locked out after hours. Would not recommend moving here. It’s another cheaply made apartment building.

WORST APARTMENT COMPLEX IN HISTORY. YOU WILL GET SCAMMED.SCAMMED BIG TIME!DESIGN: Everything about Lightbox is horrible - dont let its modern concept fool you. The living space is small and the design is horrid; if you live with a roommate there will be absolutely no privacy because the doors are sliding and the wall between the living room and the bedroom is incomplete, so nothing is soundproof.CLEANLINESS: The hallways will perpetually smell like trash. There is a trash room with a trash chute for all the trash to go down, but when you open the room it is filled to the brim with trash. First, there are residents to blame for their negligence, but the majority of the blame should go to the management (Ill get to this in more detail in just a sec). Cleaners come around to clear the trash like once a week, and if your room is located near the trashroom the smell would seep in. Air circulation in the room is already horrible to start with.SAFETY: HELLA UNSAFE. There has been issues with theft, and the security doors to the apartment building and garage was broken for like half of my stay at Lightbox, so basically anyone can just open the door and access the building. Even though the management is sitting right in front by the entrance door, theyre very unobservant and dont really notice whats going on around them.COMMUNITY: This apartment boasts itself as a place that fosters friendship and relationships between neighbors, but there is absolutely no sense of community in this building or any effort put forth to enforce that.MANAGEMENT: Management is lazy and often not in the office during office hours, and shortens their hours with minimal or no prior notice. They are also very unresponsive through email and phone and are unhelpful in resolving your queries.RENT/SCAM: Rent itself is already very high (which is justifiable given that it is new and has various amenities), but expect that you will not get much or any of your deposit back and it will also be likely that you will face additional charges for cleaning and repainting of the walls. I am going to speak very objectively and say that I left the apartment in a like-new state.I deep cleaned everything before I left. I was charged a total of $600 because apparently they had to repaint Absolutely ridiculous. When I questioned them about it, they give me incomplete answers and refused to answer my phone calls. They also emphasize that the charges will stand. THEY WILL BE HELLA EXTRA TO SCAM YOUR MONEY.If you think I am overexaggerating, feel free to read other reviews on here and on the UDR facebook community posts. This is not the first time theyve done this and definitely wont be the last. I have friends who have lived here prior to my stay and they have also experienced similar issues with exaggerated charges, and the management will make no effort to resolve these concerns. All in all, live here at your own risk.

The management at Lightbox made our short 8 month stay wonderful. They are super friendly, accessible, and responsive if there is an issue. Jane and Abby are great and are the primary people you will deal with. The Building:1. New, constantly renovated, and now with a movie theater on the roof I wish I could have stayed to enjoy that. There is a large entertainment room with ping pong and TV if you want to have friends over and watch a game or whoop on them in ping pong.2. Its clean. Cleaners come weekly and clean everything!3. Theres a gym with treadmills, pull-up bar, and smith machine.4. Safe parking option (for a price). Those of you whove lived in Seattle know the dangers of parking on the street (e.g. smashy smashy).Communication:1. Abby and Jane are great at communicating through the online message system whenever something is going on. It keeps the tenants in the know, which is nice.2. Residents can sell their stuff when they move on the online message system, so you can find some pretty sweet deals if you look on that thing every once in a while.Fun:1. Management is always setting up fun events, like scavenger hunts or celebrations. They try to make the place fun and feel like a nice community.Overall, I really liked the place as a working professional. It was great with a 4 month old son and wife. It was quiet and let us live our lives.

Move in was fine, annoying to use the elevator and unlock the access doors every time you go in and out. The best part about the complex was Abigail the leasing manager(?) she was incredibly sweet and helpful. The apartment itself was quiet, but could hear anything outside very easy, the smell of smokers outside came into the apartment almost daily, but it was always so hot due to no cooling system that we had to have the window open. The trash room would stink up the whole floor often, and when it broke down for a month we were still charged. The parking garage is very very small and people speed in and out almost causing accidents, and if someone parks over their line it was a tight fit to get our car in. While living there (1 and a half years) there was probably 5-7 car break ins in the secure parking garage, and when we informed management they basically said that sucks and there is nothing they can or would do. On several occasions we offered ideas for improvement and non were considered or happened. We were told multiple things by some people and then new people told us that wasnt true and we were charged extra fees that we were unaware of. Overall, if you have a lot of money and dont care about being wrongly charged and you want to live in a tiny hot box, this is the place for you.
