We lived here for 3 years and enjoyed Villa Monair. Great location, and good price considering other apartments in the area. It is a very central location; a few minutes to pacific beach and 15 min from most other attractions. Neighbors were very respectful and rarely heard them. The only issues we had were bugs certain times of the year and some plumbing issues. Management was quick to address these issues. The only reason we left is we ended up moving out of state. Overall, would recommend!

I dont know why this place is only 2.7/5... It is definitely a step up from our previous apartment location, and deserves a better rating.The positives: Friendly small dog community, excellent location, cleanliness, the apartment itself is very private meaning you wont hear your neighbors very often, a good amount of living space, parking isnt too bad at all, and its overall a great living experience!The downside: There is a TON of construction on Balboa right now (June, 2017) and its all throughout the night. Just close your window and youll be fine. There are AC units so youll be okay. The shower can go from scorching hot to uncomfortably cold. So if you love to contribute to Californias shortage of water and take extremely long showers, then beware. But I really dont mind because its not every time I shower. There have been a few new neighbors who love to party on the weekends, but for the most part, this community is quiet and not much of a party location.I wish I could stay longer and extend my lease because Villa Monair is a great place to call home.

Very bad apartment complex. Management is a really unprofessional.Plumbing is a on-going issue that never gets fixed nor does the office seem to care, When you report mold they go and clean it with a tissue and bleach and that doesnt solve the problem. Homeless shower and drink water of the gym. washer’s and dryers never work properly and refunds lol what no that never happens. I would NOT recommend this place to anyone.Management is really unprofessional even to live a voice mail I wish I could attached audio but o well.Sincerely, I Never work with such a terrible Management is really hard to talk to them, I hope one day owners really care about the reviews.

I have enjoyed the staff and the maintance people are great. Great bang for your buck to, one of the most affordable and nicer apt complexes in SD. 2 years and no real problems. My wife and I like to swim and pools were great!

Very bad apartment complex. Management is a joke. Prices are not reasonable although the location is good but not great. Plumbing is a on-going issue that never gets fixed nor does the office seem to care if your home is flooded by issues they wont fix. Ive seen ants and a mouse in my apartment and they still want to up the rent $70 when lease is ready for renewal. Save your self the trouble and hassle and find a different location where you get what you pay for! I would NOT recommend this place to anyone!!!

They will say absolutely anything to get you to move in. Things like the air conditioner will absolutely cool the whole unit and theres so much street parking. What they actually mean is that you will be sweating your ass off in your apartment for 6 months of the year and youll be enjoying 10 minute walks too and from your car if you get home after 5:00. This place looks pretty on the outside but we dealt with so much bullshit like them switching the unit we were supposed to move into without asking us and then trying to charge us more. They also told us we could move in September 1st and we planned for that as we were moving from the east coast and then we were told a week before that we couldnt move in that day because he office would be closed. These people are shady as hell and you can find better deals in better areas without having to deal with a shower that goes from scalding hot to freezing cold every 20 seconds. Another lovely perk of living at villa monair that they dont tell you about.

Renters please beware!!!!!I was at Villa Monair from June until I bought out my lease for $1545 in December. I no longer lived on the premises after mid September because my husband and I had a positive change of heart. So yes I was living at the apartment for approximately 3 months. When I moved out I cleaned the apartment for days and even weeks on end I cleaned the cabinets, the bathroom, the refrigerator and countertops were spotless. When I handed in the keys the only thing in that apartment was a small amount of dust on the floors. The carpet in the bedroom was pristine, as I had covered it with a very large Persian rug. I just got a check in the mail for $32 out of my $500 deposit. Villa Monair had charged me $125 for cleaning, $75 for painting, remember I was only there for 3 months and I only hung 1 picture which I placed a composite spackle into the very small holes, and $50 for carpet cleaning. When I inquired about my deposit Ericka was extremely rude and said I signed a lease to this effect. I was under the premise that my deposit was only for damage done to the apartment. Therefore, they charged me this money to clean and sanitize the apartment for the next patron. This is highly illegal however, Erica may have heard one too many past tennants complain, as she hung up the phone on me, very unprofessional, and this was not the first time. Both Beatrice and Erica were very unprofessional I cannot believe that they were actually running those apartments I had nothing but unprofessionalism and sour grapes. Please whatever you do go find another apartment!

This place is amazing the staff is so nice and maintenance dudes are on top of their game. Everything is so nice and well kept.

Worst management ever. Can’t wait to leave! Appartments are old and in a very bad shape. Maintenance takes forever to take care. Everything is in bad condition and management ignores the claims. TOTALLY NOT RECOMMEND TO RENT THIS APARTMENTS.

Extremely expensive for what you get, no parking and approvals are extremely hard to get.
