I put 3-Stars because I’m not a fan of companies that put so much “emphasis” into their website yet they can’t post the costs. With COVID happening last year, it proved that you don’t have to actually go into (or even speak to) someone just for general information.
My kids are enjoying their first experience with Karate! Everyone involved is so amazing, so personal, and so helpful! Our kids have learned so much in their first month, and are loving every minute of their classes!Would highly recommend!!
Our kids (7 & 9) have been attending Karate International for nearly year and a half and I cannot say enough good things!! It is the real deal. We LOVE it. The owners run the school with a level of professionalism that is unmatched. Even through a pandemic they have gone above and beyond to keep all their students training in a safe environment. We are here for the long haul.
My daughter will be a freshman in high school next year. I am a helicopter mom😕. I called Karate International San Antonio. Alana quickly put me at ease. This Dojo is the Best! My daughter has special needs and this was the reason I brought her here. She is a new teenager! In one month she has gained so much confidence. She is on a cloud every time she comes home from practice.Best decision I made to take her here.
I just recently enrolled my five year old daughter into the school and so far all my expectations have been exceeded. I am very excited for my daughter to be introduced into the world of martial arts as the classes are well instructed and structured at this school. Efforts are made during class to ensure that the white belts are getting the additional help they need to understand new concepts. The school has a family environment that also instills discipline and respect with all students while also promoting fun and sportsmanship. I look forward to seeing my daughters progress over the next few months.
Our experience at this Dojo has been so great! Our son loves coming to practice and really enjoys learning new techniques. The Sensai and his wife Alana are always very polite and welcoming.
My son and I have been students here for about 20 months now. Do not let the name fool you. Though the name of the Dojo is Karate International the Quality of Brazilian Jujitsu instruction is superb. The time spent on detail and technique make it easy for all learning types to excel in the martial art. Though the instructors Mike Rangel and Jean Claude have different teaching styles they both truly understand jujitsu and students will learn how to apply techniques in self defense, tournament’s, and MMA applications. The students here are kind, respectful, and so there is no need to worry about overly aggressive people or big egos. It’s truly a great learning environment. I consider this my home away from home and everyone here is my family. If you are interested in learning Jujitsu but are nervous about making the step to start I encourage you to visit and watch a class then speak to Alana about a trial. Alana is great and will take care of you and get you all the information you need.
When joining KISA we immediately felt like family thanks to Alana! She warmly welcomed us in and helped us get a plan going with our unique schedules. Sensei really cares about his students and teaches invaluable life lessons that apply both on and off the mat. So so happy we made the decision to join!
We have been apart of KISA for a little over a month and could not be happier. Our three boys each enjoy making it into the Dojo weekly. I love the challenges for the boys. Alana is very welcoming and organized. Sensei does an excellent job holding each student accountable, the order and discipline follows with the classes.
Great place to learn martial arts, self defense, and character! All the instructors and staff are amazing. I am so glad I got my 5 year old son to join.
My son has been attending KISA for about a month now and we couldn’t be happier. We can’t wait to see our son grow to love karate and learn along with him as well.
My son really enjoys International Karate! Everyone is so friendly and makes us feel so welcome!
Brought my daughters in for there 1st time and they were nervous but after getting inside they were met by the owner and introduced and provided a ghe. The kids in the group looked like they were having fun. upon entering temps were checked and hand sanitizer was provided. everything was nice and organized
Amazing customer service and one on one attention.
My 11yo wanted more than attending a class and do punch-punch-kick drills each and every day... at KISA he gets to do the same and then some. He is learning the *whys* of each steps that is being taught. He also gets to see and learn from those higher ranking than him (his peers). He is now 30days in, and I see so much improvement with his confidence and self-esteem. Sensei Louhisdon is a great, no-nonsense instructor. Mrs. Alana is on point with updating parents/guardians with class info, schedules and expectations.Safety wise- Covid protocol is adhered immediately after entering the building: mask required, temp taken, hand sanitizer available and mat is sanitized after each class. If youre not one to stay and watch- Starbucks is right there :)
My teen has been coming for a few months now and we have been incredibly impressed with the level of instruction and community offered at KISA. The team takes the time to not only build confident, self-motivated and disciplined youngsters, but they have created a welcoming family environment. For them, its more than just teaching kids karate. Its about instilling values and building a sense of community that in this day and age, is a rare find.
Great place, my kids are 16 and 11 and are in jujitsu and Kombat classes. Very friendly owners. Highly recommended
My boys (ages 8 and 11) are very happy with Karate International and their Sensei! Even through this pandemic, Sensei and his wife Alana have been great leaders, doing everything they can to keep their students learning, training, and advancing (including remote Zoom classes!). The discipline and instruction my kids are receiving is on-point and the dojo is clean. I would highly recommend Karate International!
Great place. Searched around and definitely glad we picked this place. Sensei Jean Claude cares about every student and takes the time to teach them right. His whole family Is involved with this dojo and it’s great to see how Serious they take karate. The kids stretch, do some cardio, learn anti-bully tactics, obviously karate moves and blocks and everything that comes with it. Very well rounded program. My gut told me this was a good place and I was right. Look forward to being a part of this family for a long time. My son loves it👍🏼
Our daughter (and us!) loves KISA and the BJJ program. We have seen her confidence grow exponentially since starting. Sensei makes sure that these kids know how to properly defend themselves and pays close attention to make sure they understand form and technique. The KISA family is friendly and we feel right at home here.
Karate International San Antonio has been the perfect fit for our family. From our very first phone interaction with Miss Alana to our most recent Tip from Sensei Jean Claude, we have had the most positive experience. As parents, our main concern has been teaching our boys self defense in this ugly world. Sensei has made this a priority and holds nothing back. Not only have our boys gained confidence, but Sensei has reinforced morals and values that we strive to instill at home. Every month theres a new word that he focuses on along with incentives to encourage his students. Some of the last few have been perseverance, gratitude, and respect. Miss Alana and Sensei work hard to create and foster a family environment. Our boys love and look forward to their dojo days, and we love our new dojo family!
My boys, ages 8 and 10, and I have been training here since it opened in the summer and we love it. Sensei and his family have made the dojo feel like a second home, and the training we receive is outstanding. For the kids, the classes promote discipline, physical fitness, confidence, and valuable self-defense skills. Adult classes are equally as outstanding and blend traditional Goju Ryu karate techniques with real-world application and self-defense scenarios. The Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are top notch as well, and the instructor is very knowledgeable, technically skilled, and patient. In addition to martial arts training, the school is committed to hosting events that bring the community together and help others in need – such as food drives or volunteer opportunities at the SA Food Bank. I highly recommend this school to anyone interested in pursuing martial arts. It is a welcoming environment with a sensei and staff truly focused on helping kids and adults exceed their goals!
