Great coaches. They work extremely well with kids. We could not have picked a better gym. My son has developed more confidence. Hes learned to speak up and isnt worried about being bullied at school. Hes got so much confidence now.

Ohana is not just another marketing ploy. I recently moved here from Sacramento, CAI tried out several gyms in the area and while they were for the most part good gyms, as a family man this one stood out the most. If you have kids that are interested in jiu jitsu, bring em here.Ohana west truly lives up to its name. Its a place where you are more than happy to train alongside your kids and peers.Under the leadership of coach Billy aka billybear, this place has no room for ego or gym politics on the mat. Just good vibes with good folks and hard rolls.Im happy I found this place, and highly recommend anybody seeking a safe and healthy environment to learn and grow

Been going for about 4 months now. Great family environment and a professional staff to match. It is a great place to decompress and squeeze out all of the built up energy from the work week. Need classes early in the morning? 7 am classes m-f. Bored at lunch? Lunch time session has you covered. Need more violent hugging at night? How about 6pm, 7pm, and 8pm classes to get your fill? Your kid’s school doesn’t offer wrestling? They do. There is even a Sunday class, and it’s an hour and a half long!! This place has everything!

Two stars? Why? You may ask, here is why: The adult and older child instruction is good; however, that is almost the extent of it. This is the only reason I gave the business 2 stars instead of 1 star.. I have nothing against the staff members and instructors, but as a business it leaves a lot to be desired.A couple months ago, my family wanted a break and decided to leave. They still billed me twice. I have contacted them repeatedly concerning this and I have yet to get my money back. This has been an on going issue. The staff have promised me they would resolve it and give me a call; yet I never get called and I do not get resolution.I would not label this organization as a bunch of thieves; however, this experience has shown me how incompetent they are regarding the business side. Especially when I have not received my money, I am greeted with a nothing more we can do dead end response. You get adequate classes at a extreme high risk of additional charges.With my job, I was planning on starting classes for my self in the near future. After this experience, the answer is not just no, but an emphatic, hell no.The other reviews listed here are not wrong. The staff is welcoming and very knowledgeable. They provide good classes. The issue is that you will not get your money back or a professional response regarding the business side of things.Update: I finally received the refund. I had to work entirely too hard to get my money back.

This place is awesome! When I was a kid I took martial arts classes and wanted my daughter to follow in my footsteps. The moment she got there she felt happy and welcomed. I had been looking for places and just fell in love with this place after reading reviews and taking my daughter to her first free class. She didn’t want to leave. The staff was were so friendly and the environment was clean. Felt like a very family oriented place. Will definitely be telling friends and family about this place. 10 out of 10. When I moved to San Antonio, I was looking for a new BJJ school, I had messaged the owners and they answered all my questions. The school is very welcoming and the atmosphere is even better. The coach and upper belts not only help you get better but also, they make you feel like family. I really recommend this place if you want a very cheerful and welcoming as well as a place to increase your bjj

This Academy is amazing! My 5 year old loves it and I eventually joined after catching the Jiu Jitsu bug. The Ohana crew is so supportive and motivating. Their extremely helpful and patient with the kiddos. The best part is how many classes they have available throughout the week which makes it easy for people with busy schedules to train. Absolutely recommend!

Went for trial class and decided to sign up, then COVID hits along with moving 40+ minutes away.Tried to contact them 5+ times the first month to cancel membership (that never even really started)Ended up being charged, fine. It’s only one month.Tried again multiple times throughout the second month and between TWO workers, they said they’d cancel it for me.Lo-and behold, 5 months later and they’re STILL stealing money from me. (Over -$500 at this point)Buncha thieves.Fun class, but good luck trying to cancel your membership.

I enjoyed my time at ohana, but I wasn’t able to return due to covid and the loss of my employment at the height of this pandemic last year around March. Im not gonna tell you not to come here, it’s actually a great place to go and learn the bjj art, but I will say this, It’s been over a year and they’ve attempted to charge me $217 . Not once, but TWICE. They are thieves for this. I have a family to provide for and although they failed to extract the funds from my account, it still baffles me that a year after having trained there they attempted to rob me of my hard earned money. It’s sad really, especially in these trying times.

Ohana West is one of the best schools in San Antonio. The professors are very helpful, friendly, and personable. Definitely no egos on the mats. Everyone is there to push each other to become better versions of themselves. BJJ is a great way to relieve stress after a long day of work. Not only that, the art humbles you and keeps you on an even keel. Stop by and try a class. You wont be disappointed.

I went in with my friends for a BJJ tryout. They are good people who teach you very well. It is a cool place and everybody is friendly.

Sean was so awesome and respectful to our family. He explained everything in full detail down to their class schedules to packages offered. We are definitely pleased with the whole staff at Ohana West.

This place is really as amazing as the reviews. My daughter and son attend and train in both BJJ and the Muay Thai. The instructors are just awesome with the kids. They don’t only teach the arts they have life lessons. They preach doing well in school and being good in your everyday life. Glad I choose them to instruct my kids.

A few weeks ago I went to Ohana to try a jiujitsu class. I liked the coach, curriculum and everything but one of the members was very rude to me (he had a purple belt on. But I’m not sure about the name) he was very impolite when I asked him for help with one simple thing during the class. He really turned me off. Not sure if that is normal for higher ranks to be rude to lower ranks but it was something I didn’t like. Other than that, I enjoyed the class. Everyone else was great, very helpful and great community!

We have been training with Ohana over 4 yrs now. It’s a great place for the family to train together. My wife and son also train here, We compete together. The staff is very knowledgeable and genuinely care about the health, safety and growth of the students. They do a really good job of living up to the name.

We had a demo class today for my 5 year old daughter and absolutely LOVED it. She enjoyed every second of the class. Therefore we signed her up right away. So happy to be part of this Ohana.

A training environment that makes you feel like family. The head coach Billy is very encouraging for both the children and adults classes. However, if you are not a beginner he will also give you a challenge. The gym is clean, the atmosphere is fun, and the people are welcoming. Great for both Jiu jitsu and kickboxing.

Just had my first training session for BJJ. Everyone was friendly and made me feel welcome. There’s multiple classes available for different fighting styles- all included with the membership. I look forward to training at Ohana West.

Very helpful and polite staff. The location is right by the Alamo Drafthouse so its very easy to find and the facility is clean and, the environment is friendly. Its just all around great. Im so glad to say my son is apart of this acadamy.

Went in pulling guard and came out doing the James brown. Lots and lots of bear traps here. Everyones seems to be an immense choking hazard which for me was a plus.
