Not a safe place for a solo woman to live. There is a lot of crime: car break ins, two stabbings since Ive lived here. All the bikes in the bike storage got stolen. A bike was even stolen from a second floor patio. The walls are paper thin and you can always hear your neighbors conversations. My bathroom has mold in it and it keeps coming back.

Ive lived at Mela for 3 months - my first month here, my bike was stolen from my 2nd floor balcony. Once I noticed it missing, I immediately called the office, but got an offsite employee who sent an email out to the front desk about incident and was told they should reach out to me that next day. Well I never got a returned call, so I went into the office to report it in person to the office manager, but that was honestly NO help - I was promised an incident report and a follow up call to confirm if the thief was caught on any of the cameras, but I received neither of those things. What a way to make your tenants feel valued, right?On top of the countless crimes, the office allows unmarked box trucks with no license plates, millions of trailers with no licenses plates, wrecked vehicles, and vehicles with no registration stickers to park in our gated LUXURY apartment parking lots - all of which seems to belong to the same group of people who tend to only move around at night. Sketchy to say the least - how can our office workers AND onsite security allow this?To make it simple, we DO NOT feel safe at Mela.

Edited to add response- I have been calling for weeks and havent heard back from the manager. My bike was stolen from the storage on Monday the 13th and since then, a bike has been stolen every day from the same storage. I reported it to the office on the 14th and they said theyd send out a warning to the other residents and they never did. Since they didnt warn the other residents to move their bikes, they are now all stolen. As far as Im concerned, if your bike was stolen from the storage after September 14th, 2021, after I had told them and they did nothing about it, MELA owes you a new bike. Pics included of the massive mold infestation I got while living at MELA. I lost all of my material items from this and they didn’t do anything about it.The absolute worst place I have ever lived. After being here a year, my entire apartment is infested with mold. Its in the apartment walls even though its brand new. I have to throw away all my wood furniture, clothes, everything that was in the kitchen and bathroom. Additionally, both my bikes got stolen from the bike storage, and from the looks of it, about 20 other bikes were stolen at the same time. Its a southside apartment with a north side price. Save your money and go anywhere in Southtown instead.

It was so beautiful and awe inspiring. I cannot wait to move in in a couple of weeks.

From touring to move in, everything has been great. My nephew asked if he could vacation here... It real does feel like a resort. Loving it!

I am active duty military and I was looking for apartments in the San Antonio area because I got orders to move there. The office staff is not good and have helped me in no way. DO NOT get an apartment here because they will not keep you update or communicate info with you with the whole process. The manager never called me back like I was told and I keep getting told half information. No place should treat there people like this.

I moved in this past weekend (8/28/20).I found the listing on apartmentlist.com and Stephanie from MELA reached out to me very quickly to find out what I was looking for and when I was needing to move. The tour went well, and although I had many questions and took long to decide which unit I wanted, Stephanie was patient and answered all my questions. The experience wasnt stressful at all, and actually had fun looking around at the different units and the property in general. There was an issue with my unit 2 days before my move-in, and Stephanie impressed me by doing a bunch of extra stuff to make sure I got into the unit of my choice on time. Really appreciate that!Property is beautiful, apartment feels huge with the lofted ceilings, the fans could probably power a jet by blowing so fast, and the AC works amazingly well even on the top floor where I am. All the hallways are huge, the parking lots have so much space and doesnt feel cramped.Pool is outstanding. Theres a grill area and a smoker it looks like, cant wait to try it.Gym equipment is adequate for what I need. Im not trying to be a body builder, but I like having free weights. Sadly there is no bench press but there are alternate exercises for that. On the plus side, there is a leg press machine. I feel like MELA is a place that doesnt allow you to skip leg day. On that note, theres elevators too!The only reason I give a 4 out of 5 is because I have yet to try everything and really experience the place, Ive only been here a few days. Im also seeing how this community wifi plan with Spectrum works. So far, no hiccups, doesnt seem slow at all, no connection issues except with my Google Home Mini which seems to want to connect to the guest network no matter what I do. My solution is to buy a WiFi Bridge and my own router to setup my own little network within the community network, and for it to also act as an additional firewall. Everyone is able to do this, and Id recommend it just for additional cyber security, but it isnt necessary.Hoping to update this to 5 stars after a few months.Update 9/26/2020:5 stars. Wifi works great, and the community events/food trucks are great for meeting neighbors.

I’m a travel medic and just got deployed to San Antonio I’m really looking into relocating here and these apartments looked as if they fit all my needs but I work 14hr shifts Monday-Saturday Im only available on Sundays to tour apartments and sign paperwork. If they really cared about their tenants at the very least they could try and compromise with me get an office manager to show me around and do paper work on a Sunday. As much of an inconvenience this could be I still find it to be poor customer service. I’m sure the apartments are great but if I ever need something to get done I don’t believe I could rely on the people in the office.

One major flaw, the walls are paper thin. I come home from work just to hear the neighbors screaming and yelling for hours. Cant even turn on bedroom TV without using headphones since the smallest sound will go straight through walls. Its been miserable living here because of this.

I am not a tenant but I did consider living here. I dealt with Stephanie (I think) and everything from the tour to the location and apartment was amazing. I also will always appreciate anyone who tells you the total price of rent rather than the base rent. Besides being located downtown and having a mandatory internet package, I don’t really have any complaints about this place.

I’ve been living here for about a month and everything has been great. Christina helped me from the start and answered every question I had. She was very helpful. On occasion I spoke to Marissa and Stephanie while I was settling in, and they were just as professional, patient and informed as Christina. Thank you for all that you do here at MELA. I enjoy living here.

We checked out the Mela Apartments and Stephanie helped us throughout the whole process. She was very patient, informative, and got us exactly what we wanted when we wanted it. She worked out everything even when we made some last minute changes and decisions! We love it here

These apartments lockers have been broken since forever. If they tell you they have lockers for parcels it’s a lie it’s always broken and when they get delivered to the door they get stolen.

I moved in April 2020, the community manager Andrea recently reached out to conduct a 90 day follow up and see how my living experience as been so far. That alone really impressed me as I have lived in many different communities in different states and the community manager has never been the one to make contact. The entire team is very helpful however. I spoke to Christina, Marissa and Stephanie on several occasions, they are very informative and professional. I wanted to come online and share how thankful I was to have received such great service. I would recommend living at mela to friends and family.

Really appreciate the entire team from Mela especially Stephanie, they were so nice and professional and made the entire process as stress free as possible even after me and the wife had a million questions and requests.

I’ve lived here for 3 months and I love it! When I first moved in, the staff were all so helpful and friendly! The apartments themselves are beautiful. In addition, the walls must be made of cement or something because I can’t hear my neighbors even if they make loud noises! The noise I do hear is through the doors, but it’s not hugely noticeable to where it’s a problem. This may sound like a weird plus, but you don’t realize it until you’ve never had it...the ceiling fans are powerful to the point where you don’t have to crank your AC so high to be comfortable. Saves on energy ;) The pandemic has really affected how things have been in regards to events and whatnot, but until that’s over, I’m just chilling and it’s great. Grabbing an on-site officer has also been nice to keep the place safe. Even so, I still recommend getting an alarm system in your car...it’s a big city after all.

With all the great amenities, I noticed no park for children what so ever no swing set at least a 2 seater swing? Or spinning gadget ride . I noticed electronic entertainment for children.. yet no outside park for children. And dog park(s). There is plenty space for a small park on property. Maybe its still in the works Id hope.

After spending a week touring different apartments I was exhausted. This was my last stop. I think the girl who helped me was Ashley. She was super nice and asked me questions to help me determine what apartment would suit me. She offered me a tour and was so nice. It was refreshing considering the other places I visited I could tell the staff didn’t care to be there. The apartment was beautiful and I’m preparing for a move in here in the next 2 months! Can’t wait.

Marissa Z. really made my experience here amazing when it came to questions about possibly moving in. She is extremely helpful and nice. She made me feel really comfortable when I asked her a lot of questions about the apartments. Talk to Marissa if you plan on moving here!

Motorcycle was stolen from the property (Dec 2020). Front office staff has not given me any updates on the situation. There is supposedly night time security, but if vehicles are being stolen at night, I have my doubts. Do not move here if you value you property and safety. Will update this review once this situation has been resolved.

I Love the staff very excellent and professional. Only thing was I did the tour on a Wed which the elevator were working at the time. Came to sign the Lease on a Friday. Took Weekend off to move in. Only to show up with UHaul and find out Elevators have not been working since Wed.No one notified me on Friday. My apt is on the 3rd floor so needless to say I have yet to move in. Had to place everything back In storage. I spoke with a tenant who told me the elevators break down a lot. So my thought is to relocate on Monday to a downstairs. Huge inconvince. It’s disappointing because the staffing is Amazing and Property is breath taking. Just waisted my weekend and money not being able to move in.

Dont get me wrong - the property here is beautiful. As a new build complex, in this location for the price, you can’t beat it. We have had some increasing concerns (some we can control, some we cannot) in the time of COVID but the one that is at the forefront is with the ongoing community/complex events. While we love the sense of community and we were previously excited to mingle with our neighbors, the few times we have stopped by for these events, we did not feel very safe, and so we left. We know that in a pandemic things are not going to feel normal or 100% safe, but it seems not even the management can practice appropriate COVID protocols at these things. As numbers are getting bad with the pandemic again, we will be refraining from attending until further notice. That being said, we skipped the last “Wine Down Wednesday” and wanted to see how it went, but geotagging on Inst*gram led us to a photo of the office staff appearing to jokingly drink from the bottles and carafes at this event - no masks, one staff’s tongue literally centimeters from the spout. Now Im no public health advisor, but there is no importance of whether this photo was taken before, during or after the event. When we leased here we put our trust in the property management to help keep our community safe. Regardless if we decide to refrain from these events going forward, this is beyond crass and horrifying in a pandemic. We know we can only control what we do, but this is extremely unprofessional on the staff’s behalf on multiple levels and promotes unsafe behavior. We have been trying to reach Embrey’s corporate office to discuss for a few days now and are getting nothing but automated messages and voicemail boxes. Bottom line - People are gonna continue doing what they are doing, but if giving this visibility helps anyone (existing or future resident), we are happy with that. We love our apartment but we just wish we felt as safe as possibly can be with managements help.

Me and my family lived there for almost a year and had several problems with management. There was always somebody new Because they had a high turnover on employees. When asked questions about the apartment no one can ever give you a straight answer there was always a run around. The representative that brought us in was only there for a month and promised us prorated rent and rent free for the promotion but apartment complex took that away and said that there was a miscommunication on the rent free that was promoted. We moved in because it was a luxury apartments but it quickly became a horrible place to live. People started showing up at the pool area that did not live there. The elevators were dirty smelled like beer. There was people fighting and the police was there every night for 6 months. All these issues happen during the pandemic and the office never did nothing about it to remove or to correct any of these problems. We moved because the Pandemic affected our jobs but we were glad to move. Even though the Mayor of San Antonio had said that Renters would be excused to leave their contracts the manager at this apartment complex did not do that even though she had wrote an email and communicated that verbal. They lied and are billing us months later. Be careful before if you move into these apartments. Have a lawyer look at all paperwork.

When i got there it was so nice, starting with the office and the employees. I had help from Marissa Z she was really helpful and knowledgeable about everything on the tour.

This apartment Is so exquisite! I am so in love with them! I just moved in and everything is so great. The apartment alone is just so beautiful. I love that I have access to the gym whenever I like. They have a coffee bar inside the club house for everyone. The manager Andrea is the best and very professional. Stacey and Felicia were very helpful with showing me around and filling out all the paper work and so friendly as well. Mike the maintenance supervisor was very helpful on showing me how the key system and everything worked in the apartment. I highly recommend Mela Mission Escondida to anyone who is looking for an apartment. With a pool, gym, game room, dog park, and an area to throw a small party here, how can you not love it!

This complex is awesome. Ms Ashley Singley is very knowledgeable an personable. She offered me coffee and asked questions regarding my likes n dislikes. She showed me some units that fit my taste. I gave Ashley a five star review for her knowledge, kindness and patience wit me.

Amazing Staff beautiful gated apartments and all amenities you want huge balcony, walk in closet lots of extra space and cant forget the huge 🏊‍♂️ swimming area. We would recommend all our friends and family to Mela.😊🙂

I can hear my upstairs neighbors all night. Their stomping and their pet constantly running around is pretty annoying. I can hear their muffled voices too. If I could I would move out, since this is a huge deal breaker.

I have been here for two months. I put in a maintence request over a month ago and have yet to have anyone from maintence show up. I have spoken to the office personal three times face to face. Every time I was promised that someone from maintence would show up that day. This is unacceptable, rude and disrespectful. Also there are times when many of the dogs, outside, are all barking at the same time. To be fair, it has not happened a lot, but when it does occur, it is annoying.

I first went online to see all the pictures, I saw that it is in the middle of an area where you can trail ride, walking areas, exquisite views of the Missions that if youre not an Native of San Antonio you could miss all the beautiful contributions that San Antonio can offer. Ashley Singley is so knowledgeable and very attentive to the needs that we had regarding this property.

I just got lied from the leasing office today about the bike being broken into. I asked twice if they knew anything about the stolen bikes. They said no and to make a police report . Funny that this just keeps happening and when I asked the office if this happened before they said no. I dont appreciate the lies and not caring. I have been in the army for 18 years. Dont lie please. It seems like u dont care. Im a soldier in the army for 18 yeR, how would u like it if I didnt do my job the way u are ambivalent?
