I actually enjoy living here with my family because the office staff is really nice. Casey is the best. Me and my family stay to ourselves but we have came across some friendly neighbors. The only reason I didn’t leave a 5 star review is because of the people within the community. This is no reflection on the office staff at all. Neighbors tend to complain over the littlest things I’ve noticed since living here. For example, while me and my fiancé were watching a football game, we got the cops called on us for a noise disturbance and it was right before 3pm in the afternoon! The cops were so nice btw but we’ve only been here a little over a month and would like for people to relax in this community a bit. Don’t be so uptight.

Ever since new management took over, Gabby, the manager there has been definitely a big help with my move. First time i had a bad experience, and said id never go back, but she changed all that. Hands down the best property manager Ive ever encountered. She goes above and beyond to make sure you are taken care of. Overall great experience with the rest of the staff and leasing agent Casey! My father lives here, and since he’s up in age I handle most things for him. When he first moved in (under different management) it was great. Decent price, efficient staff, minimal issues. Now it’s like no one knows what to do. You can’t get answers to simple questions. They Just sent out notice that water was cut off for fire safety inspection—never been done before. And I find it completely unprofessional and messy. This is something that is scheduled, not like it’s a drop by. And zero notice to tenants so they could plan accordingly.Point being, skip this location when looking for a home. The team seems like it’s their first rodeo.

Please do not rent here! Out of necessity we had to renew our lease, and here we are a new year and another revolving door manager later we are being charged for things that were not an issue for an entire year. As a resident do you really care to hear from a property manager that something is not their problem, giving you horrible customer service, telling you they sent emails but I have not one, trying to shame you for the amount of trash you have or trying to tell you how much you should have? No. I think not. In the last 13 months weve been through Im not sure how much new staff, inconsistent rules and personalities, maintenance issues not properly tended to or ignored and their biggest concern is valet trash and not a nail sticking up out of carpet not properly installed or an AC unit that has had multiple calls and not fixed properly. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else especially for the price.

What an amazing profession staff of personnel. I recently moved here from out of state and I was extremely worried about false reviews and pictures of places. Before moving to Alon I choose another complex which turned out to be everything I didnt want. So I had to quickly find another place within 2 days.So after online searches I ran into Alon apartments and decided to visit. Brenda really sold the apartment. From start to finish, it was a comfortable and reassuring experience. I was able to move and get settled into my new place in no time thanks to Brenda.

Pros- Great location and very quiet community. Affordable for size of units & location as well.Cons- Moved in mid July to a two bedroom two bath apartment . Within the first 2 weeks our A/c wasn’t working. Put in a work order & they put Freon in the Ac unit which lasted a day. Put in another work order just to have them refill the Freon for a second time which lasted less than a day. My THIRD work order for the malfunctioning A/c & they finally told me they had to replace it & it would take between 2-3 days. (Mind you, my apartment is between 85-90 degrees this entire time) 3 days go by with me having to call for an update just to have them tell me the wrong size unit came in. Fast forward another 4 days & they FINALLY have the correct ac unit installed. The last 2 days weren’t as bad cause they gave us a portable ac unit which cooled one room but sounded like a blender full of rocks. At least I was not sweating anymore. Needless to say I had no issues for the remainder of my lease. I ended up resigning my lease but changing units & this time my heater goes out mid winter & I had the pleasure of sleeping in a 45 degree apartment. Luckily this time it was a quick fix & the next day it was up & running. These issues along with a handful of other clerical errors is the reason I’ll be looking elsewhere.

So we are new to the Alon community, so far this has been a excellent experience. I will start with Viridiana in the front office who made this a smooth and rapid transition. We were due to move into a different apartment complex and the day we were supposed to move in and sign lease we found out there was a bug infestation. So we had to find a place to live in 24hours. I called Alon and Viridiana greeted me and layed out what was available at the Alon, she met with me within 5 minutes of hanging up and we were able to fill out app and move in all within the 24hr time frame. NO BUGS, CLEAN PROPERTY and many perks. Thanks Viridiana and Alon staff.

I have lived here for the past year when it was referred to as the Manor at Castle Hills through the remodel into Alon at Castle Hills. While me and my roommate signed a contract with Grace, management soon changed to us dealing with Brenda, Tiana, Angie. All of whom are argumentative, disrespectful, and condescending. Through the remodel, the property constantly found new fees to impose on us and instead of patiently answering our questions about these fees, we were constantly turned away and told to look at our contract even if the fees were not in it. Then they installed Spectrum and made it mandatory even if you already had an ISP like AT&T, with virtually no options to help you pay any fees associated with breaking a contract. The staff that does maintenance, or two people who do them, rarely if ever make attempts to actually fix deficits with the apartments as they run in and out only for the issues to resurface almost immediately. Since we moved in, the apartment above us has been leaking water and making bubbles in our ceiling to which they told my roommate that they would need to get another contractor to fix it since they do not even know how old the pipes and plumbing are in the building. It has been a year and the issue has never been fixed, as you can still hear dripping in the Kitchen ceiling. During COVID-19, they began marking some maintenance requests as nonessential and sent a memo to apartments stating that they are responsible to fix nonessential requests themselves and would still be liable for fees if anything is broken upon move out. When COVID-19 happened across the country, I had lost my job and the company had sent a notice to all tenants saying they would work with them on rent payments that could not be conducted on time. When we reached out to the office they stated they had sent resources to tenants on the portal, which ended up being a list of links to loans. Under normal circumstances it is understood that a business is a business and the primary job is to create revenue. However, we are not living under normal circumstances. We are living under circumstances that as a society we have never experienced. Added to this are the unscheduled personal issues such as surgery and loss of job which obviously factor into the decisions we had to make.Throughout this Angie, Brenda, and Tiana all had nothing but scoffs, laughter, and rude temperaments whenever we had simple questions about the end of our lease or new fees. The three of them have numerous times rolled their eyes at us in front of us and refer us to each other without minimal to no communication between them.My roommate and I have always paid our rent on time, even though the payment portal often puts rent up very late in the day and we have to go to Walmart to pay rent because their system changes $30+ if you dont attach your bank accounts [not just a debit/credit card] to your account). We would be the ideal candidates to speak their praises, but the office staff have always made us feel like a nuisance. Their system to pay rent on constantly adds additional fees from virtually nowhere after you pay rent, which has also happened several times. I cannot tell you enough about why you should AVOID these apartments and these people.

I would only recommend this apartment for young college students other than that a firm no. I have been here exactly a year and in that time they have had three car break in reports, 2 house break-ins, the gym has old, faulty, and broken equipment, any request to fix take more than 3 to 4 weeks, their is only one trash area and it is constantly overflowing, the rent jumped significantly ($50) monthly increase, and I just came home to a leaky roof in my bedroom directly over my bed which is soaked. So do I recommend this apartment the answer would have to be a firm and ground standing NO. It is serving its purpose but as soon as my years is up I hope to be gone, so sad because it is conveniently located and the outside looks good but in this case looks are very deceiving.

The exploration of this community was critically compromised by a series of misadventures and a staff failure to disclose risks of signing ANYTHING with them. Having gone there seeking a particular type apt, none were available. I was urged to sign an application to save time in the future, which seemed reasonable. I revealed present status and future needs, requested a walk-in shower to better handle my 90+ year old handicapped status (none were available unless I paid for the installation), etc. Upon return on another day to try to see a unit, I found it to be down a slope with no fencing and no sidewalk, and with mud gathered in front of the front door. I declined to rent there, and never - ever- not once - entered any potential apartment checking for myself.I was then billed for an (1) application fee, (2) an administrative fee, and (3) failure to cover these charges (my credit card company considered them INAPPROPRIATE, and told me they would not cover costs of such). Now 2 months later, I am informed I have been turned over for collections (plus other costs). My grading of Alon? An F for integrity and honesty. I consider myself a victim of both elder exploitation and abuse, but this way of handling potential renters is applied to all.I deem such behavior atrocious. I am fortunate I need not exist there.Addendum one day after writing the above:I recieved a phone call from Alon, and then finally spoke with the NEW manager. Her predessessor had (happily) disappeared, and the newlady-in-charge informed me all outstanding debt had been cancelled, the ollection agency informed, and the balance was 0, and any further attempt at collection should be met with an immediate call to her.Alon at Castle Hills are to be commmended in re-constituing their integrity, and I fully accept their apology, subsequent actions, and promise of future assistance if required.Lawrence Field, MDAdjunct Professor, University of Texas Health / Mays Cancer CenterProfesssor, Emeritus, Stanford Medical CenterUnited States Marine Corps and USMC Reserve.

I have been living here for a year now and would recommend this place. The apartment is nice and silent, and has good community areas. They have a pool table and a movie theatre in the leasing office which are quite nice. The management is responsive and they usually respond to maintenance requests. The management organizes quite a few events every month and they also have the food trucks coming in twice a month. I like the layout of my apartment and it also has a spacious balcony. They also have the texas lawman visiting the apartment every night which gives better security. I have had no problem with parking.Coming to some things they can improve. The corridors can be more cleaner, Im not sure if the corridors and the lights there are cleaned regularly. I once complained about a neighbor who would leave out thrash and a non working light in common area. They were immediately taken care of. Some of the gym equipment is old and needs replacement. The exterior colors of the apartments were very pleasing when I moved in and apartment really looked like english manor houses. Mid way my stay the exterior colors were changed to darker shades and now they are not that pleasing anymore. They lost a star because of that.Bottom line, I would recommend this place. Its a nice place to live and the management is approachable for most of the problems.

Ive lived at this property now for almost 2 years. That is about 5 months more than my relocation to San Antonio (SA newbie). This is a more mature, but nice residential area of Castle Hills. The property is pretty safe and there are local patrol officers that the apartment pays to provide extra security. The new management ( not Greystar anymore) has been making nice facilities and landscaping updates to the property. The office staff are professional, attentive and friendly for the most part. The residents are relatively friendly and more professional vs. what you may encounter at lower end apartments. All residents are encouraged to report any safety incidents with the management staff so that they can get law enforcement help if needed. Maintenance requests get done within 24-72hours based on urgency status (which residents can set). The complex is relatively older, but nicely laid out with well constructed, nice looking buildings. I have an older unit with an attached large garage with extra storage built in.My only complaints are 1) the entrance gates, mainly the left one, continues to malfunction or someone damages it constantly 2) a solution for the periodic mess at single location for a trash compactor is needed, and 3) parking. I had to move to a different unit in the complex to allow for family and friends to have access to more open parking spots. The trash area gets full on Fridays and Saturdays, mainly due to trash pick up schedules and due to folks waiting to the end of the week to throw away their trash! Apparently, there are a lot of lazy low mentality folks in the complex, because they will leave trash right outside of the compactor even if there is still lots of room inside it.. There is only one compactor for the entire complex on one end of the complex. The complex is not very large, so this should not be an issue, but it is.

Second official day of living here, despite all of the reviews. Residents in the complex that I have talked to so far seem pretty friendly and one of them even solo lifted a 65+ lb tv up to my 3rd story apartment so I wouldnt have to use a dolly with my messed up back. Talk about great neighbors! :-)I had a problem with my mailbox key, and Annise (I think that was her name) was very friendly about letting me swap it out for another key. The complex is clean aside from the trash compactor area.. There is a big note on the entrance gate asking residents to not leave trash near the entrance (which is on the back side for good reason), but yet there was trash bags all over the side of the compactor right where anyone driving by could see it (it was not even full!). Matter of fact, if I had to complain about anything so far, it would be that there is only 1 compactor on site, and its at the exact opposite end of the complex from my apartment. Talk about inconvenient.Other than that, my only other complaint would be an extremely minor one in that the high ceilings in the lower apartments means that your walk up 2 flights of stairs is actually the equivalent of a walk up 3 flights, because there are 19 steps on each flight, while my previous complexes all only had around 12-15! Those with any sort of knee injury or pain, no matter how minor, should consider a bottom floor apartment. It seems to me that the other review here is one made by someone who has never lived here, as his review is made about friends experiences, not his own personal experience. Im talking about the one made by Mark. Well, Mark, I cant speak for your friends, but everything here seems to be fine and dandy. Ill give it a couple of months and update this as I go through my lease.UPDATE April 2011: Still no major problems with management. I did have ants when I moved in, pest control guy isnt good at his job, so I bought some boric acid and placed the containers everywhere I found the ants. Havent seen them in months. Any maintenance problems I have had have been handled in an appropriate amount of time. Even the new manager (same company, Graystar) is really friendly. Side note: entire complex is getting roof replacements. My building is already done (bldg 11).UPDATE #2, Sept 2011: I relocated to another city a couple of months before my lease ended. The management accepted my 60 day notice a bit early, said I needed to pay the 2 months rent rather than them charging me the lease-break fee (which would have been more) and that I could mail the keys and gate card back to them once I was all moved out.I recommend this place if you can afford it.UPDATE #3: After moving out, I got a collection notice because I supposedly had a cat in the apartment and there was damage to the carpet. I asked for picture proof which I never got. They ended up offering me a settlement of a little over half the original collection amount. Note that I was forced into a surety bond when I signed the lease, and that the collection amount (AFTER the surety bond was paid) was more than the amount of the bond, so in total I think this place for close to $1600 in end of lease lies. All of the positive experiences of this complex went out the window with the money I paid to the collection agency...
