The workers were very kind to me and my mom and gave us compliments. The service was great however my nail technician was really rough on my nails and made multiple places on my fingers raw. She also pushed my cuticle back so hard repeatedly that it began to bleed a lot. She then was irritated it bled and didn’t go gentler. I thought the name job itself was really pretty but it was exactly what I wanted. I asked for a very pointed stiletto and I got almond instead. I had tips put on because my nails are rather short and 2 days later my thumb nail broke when I accidentally bumped my hand on something. The day after that I looked done and my index finger nail was mostly gone. I’m not very happy but I’m going to try to go back and have them fix it. Don’t waste your money here.
I usually don’t leave reviews, so I have to feel strongly to do so. I walked in here on a whim after striking out at shop after shop. I was greeted and seated immediately. I asked for an ombré pink and white and got the most intimate service I have ever received from a tech! The work is absolutely phenomenal! I live 30 minutes away but will now be coming all the way out just to be serviced here, everyone was so welcoming and kind. The environment was just great. Can not rate this place highly enough. Please weigh this review in your decision to patron this business, I am suspicious of these negative reviews. My experience was nothing short of excellent. The hairstylist was so kind as well!
Great place. The hair dresser in this location is very nice and skilled, had a great conversation and quite a few laughs. The lady who does nail is also nice, friendly, and does beautiful nails.
Wonderful place people are kind and do great work. I enjoyed. Thank you
I was shopping at Short Pump with my friend and she desperately needed a pedicure, and I already got one, so I only needed a manicure. I guess it was convenient to come here since we were already at the mall. When we arrived, we both should have run for the hills because this place was so cluttered, that it looked like an antique store. The lamp on the table was crooked and everything was scattered. I know, small details.I was looking at their polish and they had a lot of old polish, so I decided to not get any polish. The employee that was going to do my manicure, went to the back to get her tools and when she came back, she dropped her cuticle nipper on the floor. As she was filing my nails, she was watching a drama on her phone the whole time - instead of my nails. Which was very unprofessional. I told her that I wanted my nails clipped. Her clipper was very dull, so she had to use both hands to cut my nails. That was very weird. Afterwards, she filed my nails really quickly then soaked my nails in a bowl of water. She didnt cut my cuticles because her nipper fell on the floor, so she just pushed my cuticles up. The massage for my hands after my manicure was very quick because she was so focused on her phone. When she was done, she just threw all of her tools into a drawer. Sanitary issues there. She then told me to go into the back to wash my hands. She asked if I wanted my nails polished and I said no, so she let me sit there with my friend. My friend and I were talking and then all of a sudden another employee (not working on us) randomly asked us if we were Latino. We thought this was rude. I had an important phone call, so I was talking softly when I picked up. This other employee startled me because she randomly grabbed my hand when I was on the phone. She was looking at my bracelet. After I hung up the phone, I told her about my bracelet and the employees just looked at me, but never responded. Okay...? When my friend was getting her pedicure, she didnt get a hot towel (neither did I), which is standard practice. It was so hot in there, even with two fans, that another customer was complaining about the heat. After we were done, we decided that this isnt a place wed recommend from the cluttered environment to unsanitary tools. Very inexpensive place, but its truly a, you get what you pay for, kind of deal here. We definitely wont be back.
Im only rating one star because its not possible to give less than that. I have never had such a negative experience at a nail salon. The lady who greeted us clearly had an attitude and told us to pick a color. After a couple of minutes of looking for a color she yelled from the back, We are ready for you! The same lady was my nail technician and was incredibly rough during my pedicure, did a sloppy job with the polish, and yelled at me saying that my skirt was too long when the polish later rubbed off when I went to dry my nails. My friends nail technician talked on his phone the entire time. There was conversation with other customers, but not with us. I do not recommend this salon to anyone. I even went to a different salon after the fact to get my nail polish cleaned up. I did not want to deal with the attitude that would come with trying to get it fixed at this salon. Do not waste your time, money or endorse poor business ethics. End rant.
I do not usually ever take the time to write reviews especially bad ones. But this is the absolute worst service of anything I ever received in my entire life.DO NOT GO!Extremely unprofessional and poor quality. My nails started breaking off offer the second day. The polish smeared and they did not listen or pay attention to my concerns. The place also smells like horrible pluming. Save yourself.
Avalon nails is, by far, the best salon I have been to. Everyone there is an expert and the service is amazing. There is a friendly, relaxing atmosphere and I always leave feeling pampered and rested! And, I frequently get compliments on my nails - I refer friends constantly!
I wouldnt go anywhere else but to Avalon Nails for my manicures. Nancy has done my manicures for nine+ years and she does an outstanding job! All the ladies who work there are friendly and professional so you cant go wrong by stopping in and letting them work their magic in a very relaxing atmosphere.
This is one of worst and horrible salon spa’s that I have ever visited. The staff members talk in their own language about the customers and crack jokes on people. I got my threading done here and she removed half of my eyebrow and started yelling at me telling that though it’s nice you are telling like that and asked me to go and told I don’t need your money. I asked her that Are you doing social service ? Are you not taking money what can’t you fix it at least ? She started talking very disrespectfully and I am being a self respectful women called the cops and decided to file a complaint on her today. But looks like there was no chance of filing anything on her since it’s a verbal argument and thus asked for an apology. Please everyone never and ever go to this spa. People and staff are behaving like animals if you have self respect. They never respect customers.
They charged an enormous amount of money for cheap work that I couldve done myself. I decided to treat myself to a nice mani/pedi knowing that it would be an investment, it instead turned out to be a waste of money. My nails look bad and honestly I felt horrible the whole experience. A woman who I am guessing is a frequent customer joked about how my nail technician hustled me, never going back to this place and would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.
If you want your nails to look like a 5 year old did them, then this place is highly recommended. This place is filthy and they don’t care. The bathroom smells like my grandmas egg salad...the nail techs were beyond rude. The lady doing my nails made me rush to pick a color and she jerked my hands around. She consistently told me that my nails looked good....but they don’t. My nails litterally look like they got filed with a chain saw. My stepmom got her nails done as well. She had a huge gap between the nail polish and her cutical. She told the lady about this and the lady continued to tell her that the nail polish had shrunk. So again if you want your nails to look like they went to war, come here :).
Trimica always does a great job. I travel a long way to come to her!
I took my daughter to the Avalon Salon for her 12th birthday - celebrating with a manicure and pedicure (something we have not done before). We were greeted and taken back for the pedicure immediately. The pedicure experience was nice and we were able to sit next to each other to enjoy the experience. We told them we were there to celebrate my daughters birthday. When the pedicure was done, I was taken for my manicure first while the nail tech was finishing with my daughter. Though there were empty seats near me, the nail tech took my daughter to a seat quite a distance away, where my back was to them and I could not see them. When my manicure was done, I was able to turn around and see what was going on with my daughter. Her nails were already polished and she was drying them but her nail tech was no where in sight. When my nails were dry I put on my shoes and still my daughters nail tech was no where to be seen. I got my daughters shoes paid for the service and we left. We compared experiences as we were walking back to the car and I learned my daughter did not have the same manicure experience that I did at all- no relaxing hand massage, no top coat polish. She said that the nail tech told her that she would be right back, got up and left and never came back. It was incredibly disappointing that they would take advantage of and not give the same service to a minor that they did to the person paying the bill. I will not go back to this nail salon and would not recommend it to others.
This place was not a good experience. It started with terrible first impression of their greetings. The prices kept changing as we keep going. I went from $35 to 50 for mani and pedi. The other problem was that the brush used to washed your hands was not sanitized. It was just siting on the basin in the bathroom. If I could give a lower rating for a star, I would.
Great service. Friendly staff. Definitely coming back!
I love Avalon Nails! Everyone who works there is friendly and professional. The atmosphere is very relaxing.
This place was awful! I surprised 4 friends and took them there for mani/pedis. I made an appointment a week in advance for all 5 of us. We got there and there werent enough staff to take care of us. I had to wait 45 minutes to be seen. THERE WERE ROACHES crawling on the floor. My friend was left bleeding on her fingers and toes after her cuticles were clipped. It was dirty. Overall an awful experience! I had to apologize to my friends for subjecting them to that environment.
Ive been going here for years... I receive the best service and individualized treatment. They are excellent and quite personable.
Nail salons in malls can be hit or miss, I think everyone knows that. I have been to both nail salons at Short Pump and Avalon is by far the better one. The gals there are very sweet and have always been very accomodating! I have been there when its very busy and I see that they do their best to take care of everyones requests. Sure, there is a little language barrier, but is it really that big of a deal? For me, it really is not. Cathy has been doing my gel manicure for almost two years and they always look great! I get many compliments on how good they look and I send a lot of people there.
This place was horrible. there were roaches all over the floor of the bathroom and the ceiling were leaking water this place is unbearably embarrassing to society. my nails look like an elephant did them they had a huge attitude and acted like it was my fault they looked bad
This was the worst massage I have every had. The masseuse used a plastic implement that I could have purchased and used myself at home. I was extremely sore later that evening and woke up the next morning to find bruises up and down my back.I contacted the establishment and was put on the phone with the masseuse in question. She immediately went on the defensive and raised her voice. She said she did a great job and did not ever have customer complaints. She even indicated that the bruises were a result of my having sensitive skin. I did not even bother to explain to her that sensitive skin does not necessarily mean you bruise easily.I would urge people not to utilize this salon as their spa methods seem to involve some sort of sanctioned torture and their customer service skills are poor at best.
There was only one person working, and rather than use chairs near the front, we were taken to the very back. The water wasnt hot, and she was not gentle. She didnt seem very experienced. When she was done, she got up and went to sit, using her phone.
I got a full set of acrylic nails here and my nails turned out decent (their prices are really low compared to what I normally pay and you get what you pay for and for what I paid the nail technician did an appropriate amount of work). My experience there is what will cause me never to return. First of all the salon itself is slightly rundown looking and its nothing major just needs an update. It wasnt particularly dirty either but I did notice several minutes in that someone elses old clipped nails were left where I was sitting (gross). My nail technician wasnt particularly friendly and was talking with her co-worker the entire time and made it impossible to talk with my sister at all over her loud chit chat. Additionally, she was incredibly rough and cut me twice with the nail file which Ive never had happen before in 10+ years of getting acrylic nails.I personally would never return here.
They did a great job and spoiled me! Thanks so much!
Trimica does wonders to your hair and the owner is kind and professional ❤
Just got a giftcard. But very nice service.
This was my worst experience with salons. For the first reason being everything was dirty from the towels to the cuticle cutters. second reason they dont give you what you asked for. Third, people who seem to have more money are treated better then the average everyday person who comes to get her nails done. The place stinks and has a drainage problem and there are flies all over the place. It Very unhygienic because they use the same cuticle clippers from feet to hands just imagine what someone elses feet condition were in! NEVER GOING BACK THERE AGAIN !!!
This place is awful! Very poor service, bad attitude! She kept adding 5 dollars to everything, because my daughter wanted her stalleto nail long and not short. I would never come to this place again.
Rude staff. Poor customer service. Argued with me on a service.
Love the salon; always above the best!
Love my hair dresser
Very poor service. The lady left me sitting in the chair, in the middle of a pedicure for 20 minutes without explanation. When she came back she rushed so much that I had polish all over my toes and my mani has bubbles in the polish. Would never go back.
Very nice, very happy with pedicure
Best pedicure massage ever!!
Everything was scattered everywhere!
It was horrible and slow it took an hour for us to be ready we were constantly asking what time we could go in
Very friendly!!! Nice experience!!!
Nice salon!
