I am not happy. I just moved in to find huge roaches in the apartment, and it is infested with ants in the kitchen and bedroom. I went into the bathroom for the first time to find the urine in one toilet and a black ring around the other toilet. This has me furious; we are currently dealing with a pandemic. This unit should have been spotless, and the exterminator should automatically spray any vacant units. My move in was delayed in entire week from the date promised, and it still was not up to par. This is unacceptable. I was told she could try to get me some ant baits until the exterminator comes for his routine visit next week. Why are you not able to expedite his visit under the circumstances? This can’t be real. This is worst move ever.
Ashley at The Exchange was the kindest and most helpful person Ive ever come across when looking for a new apartment. She got me in for a last-minute tour that day and even asked me to bring my dog along so that she could meet him and give him a treat in the office. She was very well-informed and made sure I felt comfortable and that all of my questions were answered. Later that day she sent me a detailed follow-up email and when I ended up changing my plans, she was flexible and understanding. While I am not going to be living there right now, I cant imagine a more welcoming community to reside in. Thank you, Ashley!
Karen, the Assistant manager has been so helpful with making my apartment search easier. She made my process of relocating absolutely stress free. Thanks Karen.
Ashley Hamlett was a great tour guide and shared a lot of great information! I had an idea of what I wanted and she gave a variety of options to choose from. This made me more comfortable and confident with my consideration to move to The Exchange! She had so much patience and had an answer for every question I had! I recommend everyone see her for all your questions and concerns! She wont let you down!
Do not move here !!!!!!!!!!!!!Paper thin walls !Staff does not communicate with each other. Nor do they handle complaints; they really don’t care .Everything is outdatedPackages were frequently stolen outside our door. They also allow packages to just sit in the mail room for anyone to grabSmells like weed everywhere you goPeople throw loud parties all the timeFor being in brier creek thinking you’d be living amongst professionals this feels like college campus apartments.People in the surrounding areas refer to the exchange as the ghetto of brier creek .
The apartments and amenities are nice, but the hallways and stairwells are DISGUSTING. When I first took a tour of the complex, I almost ruled this place out before even stepping foot inside the apartment they were going to show me because of it. I decided to move in because I liked the apartment, but I’ve been second guessing my decision ever since. I’m posting this so that hopefully they will do something about it after many empty claims, and realize that they’re likely losing many quality tenants because of this.
Take a walk before you lease on different days. Trash everywhere. Office staff is awful, more turn over than McDonald’s and each set worst than the last Maintenance is very good though. Packages left in an unsecured location for anyone to just walk off with. Pool is cleaned only during pool season. Stairwells are never cleaned. This place quickly became the joke of Brier Creek
If you are looking for a home that is well maintained, friendly residence and a welcoming environment look no further! I have lived at the Exchange for about a year now and couldnt be happier. I have had few needs to open a service request but the few I have done are completed in a very timely manner and exceeds expectations. I couldnt give higher praise to the office staff, specifically Jason, WOW they are fantastic, they really make the complex feel like a home. Jason always welcomes me with a smile, he goes above and beyond to get to know the residents and really make us feel welcome.
Started out decent, then a lot of loud kids started living there and smoking Marijuana in the stair cases. Its never enough parking, dog waste everywhere, walls are paper thin and rent is incredibly high, and for the money you pay, the apartments are outdated. I wouldnt recommend the Exchange to anyone I care about.
Ive lived here a few years now. Absolutely love it here, but the lack of dog park is really unfortunate. At the end of this lease, I may have to look elsewhere. My babies need room to play. Otherwise, recommend this place fully to anyone looking... especially if youre not a dog owner lol
Living at the Exchange has been a great experience from the start! Our leasing agent, Jason, was very personable, helpful and flexible. He was very responsive to all our questions and put in a lot of work to make sure everything went how we wanted it to. He made all our wishes come true with the apartment we are in and has continued to be a great help and acquaintance. We enjoy our new apartment very much! We have had no issues with maintenance and all the neighbors are very friendly. Every request we have had has been answered and solved quickly. The location and neighborhood are perfect and the design of the building and floor plans are very, very nice. We are very happy with our decision to live here and would like to thank Jason for all his help and hard work!
I just recently moved in to the Exchange a few weeks ago but couldnt be happier with my experience here so far. The apartment itself is wonderful. When small issues have come up, the maintenance staff couldnt be more friendly or more timely with fixing it. Jason in the front office has been a huge help with the entire move in process. The community facilities (gym+pool especially) are in great condition. Area is wonderful, with great proximity to everything you need.
I had a great experience moving into The Exchange! Jason was very helpful and kept in touch to make the transition as smooth as possible, as well as the rest of the staff. I’m really happy with the location and apartment, and haven’t had any issues since moving in.
Jason and Staci were absolutely awesome and extremely helpful with all of my rental needs. The Exchange is an extremely nice place to live at and a perfect location in the Raleigh area. I highly recommend that you do yourself a favor and rent from this property if you need a place to stay!
I love living here, the office staff is more than just friendly, theyre friends! Cheap living with luxury feel, tons of amenities, the only thing theyre missing is a dog park!Ive rarely had trouble reaching office staff, theyre incredibly responsive with work orders and attentive to any issues Ive brought their way. I doubt Ill be moving again any time soon.
I have lived at the Exchange for 2 years now. My work orders are always handled timely and correctly. I appreciate the staff.
BEWARE!! This place has COCKROACHES the size of a Volkswagen! This is by far the worst apartment complex in which I have ever lived. I moved into my apartment and discovered roach traps all over a probably set my the maintenance staff. There were roach traps behind the refrigerator, behind the oven, underneath kitchen and bathroom sinks! I’m sure the leasing staff knew about a roach infestation prior to my move in and tried to remedy the infestation by setting out roach traps. It is a common problem apparently, because my neighbors have admitted to having cockroaches — even some that fly!! This place is disgusting and I would discourage anyone from spending their hard earned money to pay for a dwelling infested with rodents! AND pest control is a joke. It has not helped the situation at all. I will NOT be renewing my lease - especially if I don’t move out before then. DO NOT move here!
Overall this apartment complex was great. It had some hiccups, but in the end everything worked out. Stayed 2 years. Would have stayed longer, but the studio was a little bit small.
I dont understand why anyone would complain about the staff that is currently at this complex. Service requests have been prompt and the maintenance team is the most friendly I have ever encountered. Erin was the representative that helped us with our lease, and she was extremely friendly and accommodating. Today I had an issue where the web portal was displaying higher rent than I was quoted. When I visited the office today, the assistant property manager Mike was amazing and stopped what he was doing and corrected the issue immediately, something I didnt expect. I honestly feel like they are neighbors and friendly acquaintances rather than landlords. I havent been here long, but great experience so far.
Ive lived in The Exchange for 2 years, and I have not had a single problem with pests, service, kindness, or any of the complaints below. My apartment is on the 2nd floor. Its quite calm, quiet, and clean. I love living here, and my friends always comment on how beautiful the apartments are. Service orders are handled promptly, and Ive always had a great relationship with the office staff.
Great apartment complex with lots of amenities. The staff puts on various social events and organizes food trucks to come on certain nights. Walking distance from a couple of convenience stores, a grocery store, and restaurants.
The floors/ceilings are paper thin, you can hear EVERYTHING from the apartment above you. A normal upstairs neighbor might be bearable but you could end up unlucky like me with multiple children above you and inconsiderate parents that are not willing to prevent them from running and jumping. As I’m writing this there are frequent slams on the ceiling so strong that I can not only hear but FEEL them. I’m often woken up in the middle of the night by the sound of a baby crying in the room above me and I have to leave the central fan running constantly in an attempt to drown out the sound of normal walking, which piles up the electric bill but is preferable to hearing every sneeze, footstep and giggle from upstairs. I can hear muffled conversations through the ceiling. It has been difficult to relax at home after sunrise and before 10-11pm for most of the time I’ve lived at The Exchange, not to mention the fractured sleep. I honestly cannot remember the last time I woke up to an alarm because the noise from upstairs always starts up earlier. Waking up naturally on days off work doesn’t happen anymore. The amount of sound that travels through the ceilings is absolutely unacceptable for the amount of rent you pay, which is odd because I’ve never heard a peep from the guys who live beside me. If you’re thinking about living here TAKE THE TOP FLOOR OR LOOK ELSEWHERE. Maybe I’ve been spoiled by my previous place being in a brand new building with sturdy construction, but this is unbearable even compared to cheap housing I had in college. All this being said, the apartment itself is nice, the staff is friendly and maintenance is quick and effective. I love the huge master bathroom and shower. It’s a shame that an otherwise lovely apartment is completely ruined by outrageously thin ceilings, and like I mentioned before, living on the top floor would be perfectly fine and I regret not doing that now.Another (minor by comparison) concern: the club house closes at 9pm... why?? This was never mentioned during the initial tour. To be fair I didn’t ask, but why would I? The first time I hosted friends over there we were kicked out at 9. Closing it at 9pm is a bit bizarre, we’re all adults here and residents pay for that space. The gym right next to it is open 24/7 so I don’t see the point in closing the place that literally exists for residents to have social gatherings at 9 o’clock. The place is very nice after recent renovations.Edit: I wanted to add two things: internet here is awesome, ISPs have to compete so you get good internet for cheap. And the apartments have those tiny little round toilets which are generally uncomfortable for men.Edit 2, February 2020 (4 months after initial review): two amazon packages delivered with photo evidence at my door in the past two weeks, both of them got stolen before I came home from work. Recently my (brand new) parked car has been getting dinged up by people carelessly flinging their doors open into mine. This place is unbearable, avoid at all costs. The owners of this complex absolutely do not care about their grounds or anything other than collecting rent from you, zero effort is put into things like security cameras for helping with damaged vehicles or cleaning the absolutely disgusting hallways and stairs. I cannot wait to move out when my lease expires. Changed from 2 stars to 1 star. And back to what I just mentioned, the hallways and stairwells have been filthy and have NEVER been cleaned since I moved in last summer. Somebody spilled a drink on the stairs in December and I’m still walking through sticky garbage every time I come and go. Straight up trashy place to live. Only saving grace of this complex is the nice clubhouse, which they’ve been keeping open later since I initially posted this review.
Stayed at exchange while working in Raleigh. All of the people that work there have been helpful, and reasonable to work with. I was not a fan of the construction, as it lasted the entire duration of our lease, but I am sure it will be great for new residents.
The staff is very friendly and the updated clubhouse is amazing. The monthly events are excellent as well.
I used to love living here. The staff had always been awesome (like when the early-2016 office staff emailed me and said the Easter Bunny left a basket for my then 5y/o daughter in the office...which they apparently did that for several of the younger kids that lived in here at the time) and the residents are cool as several of us often get together to watch movies, play cards or pool, have holiday dinners or go out to eat. However, thats all changed with the most recent office management thats been here since summer of 2016. Since then every good review that you see on here is due to the management having contests to see who can write the nicest review in order to get $100 off rent. In other words, they have to bribe their residents for good reviews. Best thing about this place is that, when I have an issue, it gets fixed quickly as the maintenance crew gets their stuff done. The photos of these apts. make them look decent but what you cant see is that most of the amenities only half-way work. 1 of the grills usually explodes every summer(one time it even landed in the pool), neither the TV or the fireplace by the pool work and apparently the management doesnt wanted to pay to fix them, and on holidays when youre off work and want to get together with other residents in the clubhouse to watch a movie, play pool or just hang out...that isnt an option cause despite employees living on site they dont unlock it. Once you get past that and decide to just hang out at other residence places you have to be selective on which route you take to get there, other wise youll run into the strong smell of weed that lingers the hallways, elevators and stair cases. Ive had to get used to all of this but whats finally convinced me to not resign my lease again is when the manager/asst. manager told me that Im now being charged pet rent because my girlfriends dog (a well trained 6y/o yellow lab that doesnt know how to destroy anything) comes over ever so often whenever she comes over. I understand its in the vague language of the lease that they can charge me whenever any dog comes into my residence and I dont tell them but Im being singled out for it since the asst. manager lives across from me and apparently watches who comes in and out of my apt and the manager just likes to nickel and dime anyone she possible can for whatever she can. Ive asked others who live here and have dogs in their place often and none of them are being charged. I cant wait for my lease to be up and get out of here. The Providence at Brier Creek is right up the street, about $200 less a month and just as convenient to all the stores/restaurants I like going to. And from what I hear their amenities all function properly.
I was supposed to live here 3 months ago, starting in June 2014, for a short term work project. I was handed the keys to my apartment and given direction on how to find it. Unfortunately, the apartment was infested with roaches and had a strong marijuana smell, so I immediately went back to the management office to bring this to their attention. I had to wait over 45 minutes for someone to return to the office. This was on a Monday at 11 AM, when I would think they would have the office adequately staffed. The person that finally showed up to the office said she didnt know what to do as she was new and would have to speak to the property manager, Megan. The apartment was not safe to stay in, so I had to find a hotel. I confirmed my contact information with the girl so Megan could contact me to resolve the issue. The next day, I called The Exchange as it was 2 PM and I still had not heard anything from them. I called all of the numbers I could find for them and no one would answer. I stopped in after work to resolve the issue and was told that I would have to talk to Megan (again). So, where was this Megan? When I asked what I was supposed to do for an apartment in the mean time, the girl said she doesnt know and Megan would answer that question.Megan finally contacted me on the following Friday, five days after my initial move in date, and offered me other apartments that were $300 and more over the price of the apartment I was supposed to have and none of them would not be ready for another week and a half. I knew my company would not approve of this, so I said its a no go and I handed my keys back to her. I pointed out to Megan that, according to the 3 month contract, I had 30 days to let them know if the apartment wasnt working and was doing that right now. Megan ignored this and kept talking like I had not said this, saying to me that Im no longer in the big city and I need to be realistic about the timeframe to find me another (safe and livable) apartment. I pointed out the part of the contract that had the 30 day clause, and she said she had no choice than to not hold me liable for the lease.Fast forward to this week- three months later and when the lease that was voided would have been done- I was notified by the company that I work for that The Exchange at Brier Creek was charging me over $500 for damages to the apartment that I never lived in. After looking into it further, we also found out that they continued to bill my company for all three months rent. The mobility people at the company I work for have been trying to contact them about this to resolve, but have been having trouble getting someone to answer the phone. It has been turned over to the corporate attorneys. We have been told that Megan the property manager would be in contact with us and are still waiting for anyone to contact us after three days of trying to reach them through phone numbers and emails.Something is definitely shady about this place. I would not recommend anyone doing business with them. To keep charging rent and also over $500 in damages for a place I spent less than a minute in and reported the unsafe and unlivable conditions immediately, also turning in my keys is stealing and wrong.Do not even visit this place. Its not worth the nightmare and waste of time.
My experience was kakapoopoo.
Ok at best. Poor construction. Staff constantly changes. Poor office follow through. With the new sale of the place it has become trashy and they do not clean it like the used to. New level of clients that spill beer on you as you walk by common decks and smoke in the hallways and elevator. Office response is no, the place is fine. Roaches resported in corner apartments. Do not shovel or salt after snow storms. Other apt complexes do. Why leave it icy and dangerous for residents.
The apartments are ok. My biggest issues have been the 4+ sets of office staff that have come and gone over the past two years. The original office staff made me the loose the apartment i originally applied for. Also, No one takes complaints seriously, and the building is cheaply constructed. I can literally hear every move my neighbors and their dogs make. It drives me nuts.Im looking forward to moving far away from the exchange.
Overall just a great place to live. Management is always available, maintenence is prompt, location is key.
DO NOT LIVE HERE!!! New management is very rude and are crooks. When i lived here before i moved out i asked for an inspection and they said i didnt need it but they went and did an inspection after i moved out and sent me a bill for charges, which is fine but the chargers are a bit ridiculous, i mean $10 for 1 lightbulb, $125 for a stain on the carpet that can barely be seen, and also some chargers for the floors outside the apartment!... and when i contacted the management to find out about this, i was talked to in a very rude manner and was told that i was just trying to get out of a charge, and then they sent it to collections within a month!!
This is a great place to live i dont know what these other ppl are talking about. i have not seen any bugs. the staff is great everyone that has seen my apartment loves it and when there lease ends they want to move here. i hate when people get mad and upset cause they didnt get there way they go and say something bad. smh if you need a place that is close to everything move here.
The property management for this complex is awful. The elevator has been out for 3 days straight. And stacy is the worst. Rude and careless. Nobody should have to rely on her.
Great location and size for price
Greta place and great employees.
Location is great, maintenance and amenities are awesome.
All you smell is weed when youre in the hallway
I have to say that I had a bad impression of the people who work because I had a past experience. Oh surprise Jason Theodore gave me a tour of the whole place showing the available models. Thank you very much for your kindness and time. I greatly wish to move here soon.
