I recently received a complete transformation from Alex at Chrome! I was able to get a same day appointment which was amazing! He is by far the BEST barber/hairstylist i have ever encountered! He is very professional, patient and over all a great dude! He asked me every step of the way how i wanted my hair to be cut. His attention to detail is mind blowing! I have received countless compliments on my new hair style! And has been asked who and where did i get it done at! I have recommend Alex to everybody who has even mentioned my hair cut! And he is the only person I am going to let cut my hair from now on! I just want to send a HUGE shout out to alex and chrome and say thank you!

Thank you for fixing up my husbands face and hair! I explained to my husband that I love him but I can’t see his face anymore. He wears his hair in a samurai bun, shaved to a No.1 along the sides. They edged him up perfectly. Great price at $20.Called at 3:15 and booked a same day appointment at 3:30.Upstairs they have a pool table and darts. They offer beer so we went up and played a game of pool and finished off our beer.These barbers know what they are doing and they really care about you. Overhearing conversations, they do a good job remembering details.Excellent selection of products to take home, displayed beautifully.

I had my haircut by Ginger who is complete angel and truly talented hair stylist! They were on time, personable, communicative, efficient, and above all demonstrated a strong technical proficiency in their craft leaving me feeling confident about my appearance. I have incredibly thick straight hair (that stylists often don’t know how to work with) and they maneuvered it with finesse! Highly recommend getting your hair done by them, you won’t be disappointed!

Ginger has consistently given me the BEST haircuts I have ever had!!Usually if I don’t get my haircut every 4 weeks, I really start looking scraggly. But Ginger has given me such good quality cuts that my hair grows evenly and looks good for 6-8 weeks, if I need to!! They takes their time to give a great cut every time and doesn’t make me feel rushed thru my haircut.They are responsive to questions/concerns and is fun to talk to. Cara gave me possibly the best cut and blow out Ive ever had! As a black person, I often struggle with finding stylists that are comfortable with extra coily textured hair. Cara did an AMAZING job being delicate while round brushing my fragile curls, gave me a much needed trim, and styled it to perfection! Thanks to Chrome for making me feel welcome!

Sincerely the best haircut Ive ever had. I went in pretty open minded (hadnt had a cut in quite a while) and was very much impressed. Ill be sure to remember the name of my stylist and update but he effortlessly knew how to make curly hair look great. Frankly, I feel like a new person. Ill be back.It was $30, but being honest and having seen the results, Id have paid much more. Ive never said that before, but I absolutely mean it.SO, someone actually said to me today that they really liked my hair cut, and it got me thinking. I really do, too and thats a first.

Love this place, conveniently placed, talented stylists, midrange prices, a few brewskies on hand and a Starbucks next door in you need a coffee. A pleasant, and friendly atmosphere and simple clean layout.

I can say all the great things you hear about the place are true. The staff were friendly and inviting. The shop could use a little bit of a deep clean but was still nice. The straight razor head shave I received was one of the best of my life. The only negative i can say is i booked an appointment with a different person but they ended up changing it to someone else with out letting me know before hand.

Got a great haircut with Carlos. Been traveling around in different cities every month and Carlos gave me by far the best cut in months. He understood exactly what I was looking for and had great conversation along the way. Also, the place is chill and not super pretentious like so many other nouveau barber shops. Geovanny is my go to barber, and I dont feel comfortable going to anyone else. The service he provides is top-notch, personable, and hes a talented individual. I highly recommend consulting him on any hair decisions, because he has a great perspective on what will look good on you. I should also mention this place has beer for while you wait or during your haircut. Go pay these people a visit, and tell em Mo sent you.

Extremely friendly front staff does not make up for making me wait 35 minutes to get a terrible haircut from someone who I’m not sure has ever cut hair before. I left and noticed all the hair around my ears was uncut so I looked like a hobbit. Apparently I was waiting so long because the stylist was practicing cutting hair on someone else. I’m sure there are lots of talented people there. Too bad I didn’t get to see any of them. As I was taking a beard trimmer to my head later that day, I decided I wouldn’t be returning there ever again.

Kyle gave me a sharp and attentive fade and exactly what I had asked for. Very good haircut! It’s a little on the pricey side but plan on grabbing a free beer.

Kyle did a great job and respected my need to close my eyes and meditate, without pushing a conversation yet not afraid to let me know when/where to move my head to get the best job done. Came in on a weekday night after making an apt. Stylist was ready to go and gave me a rocking cut! In and out in about 20 min and am looking good.

Firstly, i would like to say that I originally booked my hair appointment for a Wednesday, and when the barber was not available, they called me right away and offered to have me come in the next day, Thursday. I was so happy that they didnt wait until the last minute to inform me that the barber was out sick.Secondly, when I went to my appointment with Carlos on Thursday, I was SO IMPRESSED with my end result. When I sat in his chair, he asked what I wanted. I explained how I would like my hair done. He was so patient. He took him time and it was only about 40 minutes, but my end result looked like he took a lot longer. Im not much of a talker in the chair, as I like my hair appointments to be a time for me, and he didnt push conversation. The moments he asked me a question, he had a very soothing voice.I would definitely recommend Carlos for anyones hair appointment. Ive finally found a quality barber who just does a fantastic job.

I dont think Ill ever come back the guy cutting my hair kept checking his phone and looking over at the computer screen to see who was next never offered me a drink or anything. My hair cut was prepaid as was the tip treated that way and to boot he didnt trim my beard straight 😞I have received a call from the management to apologize for my service Ive agreed to give them a second chance hopefully its going to be better next time I will give my final opinion after the New Year 😎

I try to stop by for my monthly hair cut. Grab a beer while you wait and most of the barbers Ive had are pretty easy going and friendly. They seem to let me be quiet if I like or will chat with me if Im feeling more social. On the off occasion where the cut isnt quite what you expected the next day, theyve been good about getting me a quick trim to fix it.

I found Y-chrome by chance. We were downtown and I needed a haircut, my wife did her Google thing and we found Y-chrome. Geo gave me the most amazing haircut & neck shave.... Mr Geovanny is the best! the folks their are so friendly and professional. I now make an appointment every month with Geo. My wife and I drive down from Longview to make a day of getting my haircut every month.

I enjoy this place. Its fun people watching as you sit in the chair. Usually the barbers dont force conversation on you if you seem to not really want to talk. Too bad I dont drink beer anymore as its available gratis. They do have coffee, tea and Keurig. I think there is a pool table and darts upstairs but that would require me to stay longer and climb some stairs.

I went in and I got a horrible fade. The woman I booked with is named Sharon, seemed somewhat unconfident with cutting my hair. Left my hair super patchy and left the place unsatisfied. I’m sure she tried her best but maybe giving a fade haircut isn’t really her thing.

This place focuses more on being trendy than they do on providing good haircuts. I think the only requirement they have for employment is that you need to have tattoos. The front desk guy checking people in was a jerk but he looked like a typical Portland hipster so I guess thats all the company cares about.

Great experience with the barber Conner/Connor. Making this location and barber my go to. Havent had an issue with making an appointment or anything of that sort. If you call like a dumb person before or after hours, of course it will ask for you to use the online service.Again, great experience, beer, pool and cool guys.

Hope you enjoy waiting, I love when I can make an appointment for a haircut. Makes it easier to go on my lunch hour from work or simply plan my weekend knowing I do not have to fill out a sign in sheet and wait. In theory you should be seen when you walk in for your appointment in reality Y Chrome does not seem to understand this. If a person makes a 12:15 appointment it should not be well after 12:35 and being ignored and having 2 people go ahead of me I decided to ask when I would be seen. I got a reply of we are working on it and walked away. At this point my lunch was now over and I have been waiting and killed my lunch hour with no haircut and had to leave.Note: I have been here many times and always seem to wait, but they do a great job cutting hair, the problem is finding someone that wants to even if you have an appointment.

Solid hair cut spot for dudes! The stylists are nice & theyre good about same day bookings. Its a less done-up sister shop to Hair M, and it excels at being just that; less frills but a Hugh quality cut and/or shave.

Fancy, shiny, modern, clean, high end. A little frilly and expensive though. No complaints about the staff or the haircuts, just gets pricey when you get a cut every 2-3 weeks like I do.

Nice barbershop downtown. A little expensive, and the beers they serve are typically expired (you get a bottle of beer or water during your cut), but Ill keep visiting because one of the gals has been cutting my hair for years and she does a great job.

Brielle was great!im not typically a big fan of haircuts. i tend to grow my hair for a while and then buzz it all off myself. on a bit of a whim (and after some urging from my wife) i decided to get a real portland haircut after over 4 years of growing out my hair.Brielle was patient with me as i tried to articulate what i thought i maybe wanted. she made the process easy and fun. Kourtney cuts my hair on a regular basis and does a fantastic job. If Im wanting the same ol cut, she gets it done, if Im wanting to change it up a bit she never fails to get it right. Y Chrome is just a really friendly and pleasant place to be and I always enjoy coming in to get my hair done. I would DEFINITELY recommend this place to anyone who wants a great hair cut.

Great place to sit down and have a beer and get your hair cut, I havent been up stairs to the pool table yet, but its there none-the-less. Ive been here 3 times, 2 haircuts were decent, one was downright horrible. Personally, Ill probably stick to their sister-shop (Hair-M) in Beaverton from now on, to avoid the Portland traffic.
