We came to Irvine to attend the wedding of my sister in-law, and we were completely UNHAPPY πŸ™ with the experience of renting from Hertz. It might be the last time we book with Hertz due to the lack of car inventory/availability (maybe at this location). The assistant manager at this location was rude when we tried to explain or ask any question or get information. He spoke down to us and tried to make it seems like Hertz did everything right even though we were forced to downgrade our car to a smaller size and lower class. It was a mistake to book from this location!

Worst car rental experience I’ve ever had. Showed up on time because I had appointments scheduled accordingly and they didn’t have the requested car and wanted me to wait. They even wanted me to pay more if I wanted any other car right away even though the delay was on their end. Receptionist was very rude and unhelpful. I will never book with Hertz again.

Initially was pretty nervous renting through this hertz location after reading all of the negative reviews. However, our experience could not have been more smooth. The guy at the desk had us in and out within 15 minutes, the whole while being extremely friendly even after having to deal with a rude customer before us. The car selection seemed fairly small but we got the exact car we originally reserved. 10/10 for me!

Booked a vehicle a month before I would be in California. Got a confirmation email the day before we flew out. Landed at John Wayne the morning of 12/26 and went straight to the hotel to check-in only to find out that there are 0 cars to available in the area. I was then told that he could take my number but theres like at least 20 people in line ahead of you...so... Gee, thanks. I then called Hertz who not only never apologized but suggested that I get to Burbank to try to find a car - how would I do that without a car? There was never any follow up call or email over the next 3 days I was there to me to let me know if a vehicle was available. I had to cancel so many plans for our vacation because we were no longer able to get around the area like we had planned. I spent over $200 on Ubers/Lyfts and had to take the train to meet friends in LA. The complete lack of service or accountability by Hertz was absolutely unacceptable and I will never ever use them again, let alone let any friends or family use them. Totally garbage experience.*Update* The weak copy and paste response from Bob the Owner on every horrible review should tell you every thing you need to know about the professionalism of this location. You hope I will give you another chance to provide me with a positive experience? And what exactly would encourage me to do that considering you never once reached out to me after completely dropping the ball the 1 time I tried to use Hertz? Not a chance, Bob.

Made a reservation months in advanced. Received a call less than 30 minutes before pickup saying they cant fulfill my reservation because they have no more cars, WTF?! Way to ruin Thanksgiving weekend plans. Unbelievable!

Resered a vehicle 2 days in advance and got a call more than 24 hours before my time of pick up saying I did not reserve 24 hours in advance and they would not be able to fulfill the request. Terrible management.

You guys are bunch thieves and lazy people. When I made a reservation, I added insurance though the website, and after 2 weeks when I went fo pick up the car, the agent told me that I dint have insurance, and I forgot about it, so I got charged an additional 96.00 dollars, and it took about 30 minutes for the agent to show ip. then I got charged 400 dollars for smoking.Not me nor my wife are smokers. No wonder your rating is so low. What a waste of money. Thieves, hopefully you will get sued soon.

Awesome customer service! They are a very busy HLE location, but I’ve never had any issues with availability of vehicles, even after months of renting from this same location. We’ve been trying out different cars from them since March so we can buy soon and they are just wonderful... Cynthia, Abby & Stacy are the best!

Waited 45 minutes just to be told they don’t have the car I reserved. Never tried to contact me to let me know I needed to find a new reservation. Poor inventory management and it makes the hotel look HORRIBLE

They are HORRIBLE, made a reservation three weeks ahead of time. and they didnt had my car available since they over booked ruined my day and plans. said theres nothing they can do but they apologize they should be ashamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! got a different car from a different place. Made reservation day before called me an hour before and said they didnt have a car. After I returned they continued to charge my card. After I noticed I called them and a woman was very rude and told me I was probably wrong. Put me on hold then came back on said she was very sorry and would refund my money right away. Then they over refunded me and had to charge my card again lol. I accidentally ordered from them again today and she called me 45min before to tell me they dont have a car. Lol needles to say I cancelled

STAY AWAY!!Honestly the worst experience ever!I booked a rental online for 04/12/2018 at 10:30 am i got there about 10 min early to hopefully feel out paperwork so i could be out of there by 10:30 am but unfortunately there was only one person working and there was a man in front of me returning a vehicle after he left i hear the employee call over to another Hertz to see when they were going to bring my car i was renting WHAT?? The employee than asks me to go sit in the hotel lobby it will just be a few minutes as i am walking out i see her with Windex and napkins going outside. I had to wait another 25 minutes for her to wash up the windows on the car the man in front of me returned so i could take it. Car was never serviced looked at or even cleaned but i had no options as i needed to leave and they had no cars. I than am going through the process and she tells me there is no gas maybe 20 miles to empty WOW i am so upset i just get everything and go as i drive of i see there is a warning light on and i assumed it was because the car was on empty so i just kept going i went to gas station filled up tank another $53.00. I turn car on and go about my day i than pick up my son he gets in backseat to only find DayQuil pills and bottles from Las Vegas car was disgusting. The next day on my way to work the warning light came back on as i was on the freeway. I called Hertz and that is a joke they transfer you to so many different people, i now have to return the vehicle to there location in the airport at 8:00 in the morning at a very busy time. I go explain my situation and the representative there totally just dismissed everything i was saying only thing he kept asking is do you have pictures i told him car is outside go look? basically he just didnt care that is how i felt through the entire process they ended up downgrading my car and giving me a little car that had no working Bluetooth no back up camera just the lowest of the low and i was stuck with it for 7 days. There is so much more horrible that happened i was hung up on 2 times and on and on.... just do yourself a favor and do not go through the stress of using this place Thrifty car is right down the street and they are easy and fast just as cheap as i rented from them the week prior. ALSO THIS LOCATION IS NOT AT JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT ONLINE BOOKING SHOWS THIS TO BE AT AIRPORT!!!

Eh. Located inside of a Renaissance Hotel. Dropped off my rental after they closed at 5 p.m. with a hotel valet. Accidentally left my house keys attached to the rental key with the carabiner clip. After realizing my mistake I called back and had valet set my keys aside. After a 20 minute search the next day, valet said they didnt have my keys. Went to Hertz, they said they didnt have my keys either. Went back to valet, another 5 minutes and they found my keys. No Carabiner clip was attached though. Went back to Hertz. No Carabiner clip to be found. Pretty annoying

I rented a car here from mid-Aug to early Sept 2018, and the service was terrible. Not only did it take hours to get through by phone (often, a staff member was not in the office), but in the end the car was charged to a friend who kindly picked up the car for me, and the company refused to credit his credit card and bill me. At the national billing office, they would not speak to me (only him, even though it was MY car), and they refused to change the billing unless I was a gold card member. I have never encountered such a rigid, inflexible set of rules and I will never rent with Hertz again.

Never again with Hertz, anywhere. An hour before my reservation, this location told me that the car I reserved is not available. They offered a truck, which DOES NOT WORK for my needs at all and is not what I reserved. They offered zero customer support and seemingly could care less that this puts me in a massive predicament.
