This is now my spot! Honestly, The thing I love the most is the professionalism by the owner. She really understands how to respect time and coach her team through giving the best service. You will pay a premium price to get your nails done here but the manicures and pedicures absolutely last. This is an excellent place.
Paid $100 for a gel mani “chromatic”, all short nails, she added gel on top of my nails which I don’t understand why, it thickened my nails like crazy, and yet peeled the same week. So disappointed. Will never come back.
I would not come back for several reasons:- InconsistentI started off with acrylic nails. I called a day ahead asking if they have any service in that area, the lady on the phone stated no. So I come in the next day for pedicure and asked my question again in person and they stated that they have one technician that would be able to help me take it off.- Hurt & Lack proper toolFiling down my acrylic nails in a rush cause me a slight amount of pain. When taking off my extension, I thought there would be a specific tool to remove them, but the technician pulled out a MTA Metro card. When I finished, my nails were filled with the residue.-lack of communicationThis is half my fault. I didnt not translate my idea properly however there wasnt an connection in her understanding what I wanted.-Disclosure of the priceI paid $78.37, I understand it includes (my assumption) gel nails (but what type of gel), nail design, and remove of acrylic.Pro:- the decor is comfy and instagramable. Very chic and cute- their hand mask. Definitely helped my hands. But it would been better if they didnt cut off the finger part of the mask. Maybe cut off the nail part of the mask.-bathroom was super clean.Would I come back? No. This is the first time attending a high end nail salon but I think Ill go back in visiting my local $22 dollars gel. Also while there, constantly felt like I was judge by those doing my nails. Like not a problem but you can talk about us after we leave. Not there in another language.
Had some time to kill before a meeting and thought I could squeeze in a last minute manicure. I was in the Chelsea/garment district area and randomly gave this salon a try. I was pleasantly surprised! The salon was busy yet clean with a relaxing ambiance. The service was lovely and from what I could tell most patrons were repeat customers (always a good sign). They were happy to seat me quickly even though I was a walk in. Although this salon specializes in gel manicures, I can’t speak to those as I got a normal one. Wish I caught the name of my technician- she was very fast, efficient and didn’t make any mistakes. It’s been exactly 1 week since I went, and my nails are still looking fresh and seem in good shape to last another week if I’m careful- outstanding results for a standard manicure as I’m generally rough on my nails. Definitely my new go to nail salon in the city. I will be back to try a gel mani next!
My nails always come out amazing. Gina is meticulous and knows how to shape your nails to suit your hand. My manicure looks perfect even after three weeks of wear (picture shown is slightly more than 2 weeks after having them done) and they have so many color and chrome options If you want to add some fun to your nails.
I went in here for nail extension removal and gel polish, they took the time to painlessly remove the extensions and gave me a beautiful gel manicure with the calgel that will help my damaged nails grow stronger. Very clean and professional and nice people!
Very cute and professional nail salon. I got a Shellack pedicure and a Presto manicure and I was very satisfied with the results. For the manicure, I showed the lady a picture from Pinterest of what I wanted and she nailed it! Looks exactly like in the picture. I also called the nignt before and got an appointment the next morning. Would totally recommend this place.
OMG! such a a great service, told them i was in a hurry so they did both mani+pedi at the same time and with a chromatic GEL polish it took them around 50 min.left me satisfied with gorgeous nails right on time!not to mention those magical things they did :massage half leg and wrapped it in wax, spa gloves were amazing too!
Best nail place in NYC! They are very considerate, mani and pedi always turn out perfect, and a great vibe inside! I’ve been a regular for more than 3 years now and have no intention of ever leaving.
Walked in for my first time with my aunt and they got to us right away. We both got pedicures which totaled up to be $73. They were so friendly! I had no idea theyd be pouring wax on our legs and it felt so great. They massaged our legs as well as our shoulders while our toes dried. Honestly they shouldve charged us more for how great their service was. Clean place and tools with newly updated decor.
Great manicure and wonderful people!!
Love this nail salon. Very friendly staff. nice atmosphere. Went multiple times, served by different girls, and all them had done a great job to my nails. they have nice designs. Once, I had brought my own design and they made it perfect. they are pretty patient with your demands and have excellent customer service.
The price is the only reason I can’t give 5 stars. $57 for a shellac manicure is wild, I made the mistake of not asking for the price before I agreed to it. With that said, they did a great job. They don’t use drills which is great and the woman who did my nails was very friendly.
My coworker recommend this place and even though they are expensive I wanted to try it out. I typically never spend $77 on only a manicure but I wanted to try cal gel because its suppose to better for your nails. The staff is very nice; However the price is extremely too high for quality of work and the space looks like the images online but is VERY SMALL. I got a cal gel manicure that came up to about $67 with tax, plus a $10 tip on 12/1/2016 (Thursday). My nails we chipping by 12/6/2016 (Tuesday) 4 nails were chipped badly. I went in on 12/7/2016 (Wednesday) and the women that originally did my nails fixed them and put an extra clear gel coat on all of my nails, even the ones that werent chipped (Free of Charge). After she fixed them I went grocery shopping, And one nail had COMPLETELY CAME OFF. And surely they all started chipping shortly after that. I didnt waste my time going back. They have great customer service and a lot of gel colors to choose from but overall. A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY. It seemed like they had a loyal customer base. Im not sure if it was the woman who did my nails just sucked because my coworker never had this problem. But I wont be returning
In NYC for meetings and when one fell through I squeezed in a last minute manicure in a rush. I received the best manicure that I have ever had, plus a shoulder massage. At a great rate. Their lotion gloves left my hands so soft too! Wishing there was one in Seattle!
I called from the day before told them what I wanted. She booked the appointment for today made me travel all the way out there from NJ just to tell me they are all booked up for today. Knowing I was coming from a different state instead of trying to accommodate me she wanted to recommend me somewhere else. Never again. Waste of my time and money.
Naomi is the best! I’ve been getting my nails done here for years and this place is by far the best place for gel manicures in midtown. They have all the newest colors and trends (I love the different holos they’ve done for me) and they’re clean and quick. I’d give more than 5 stars if I could!
I tried Gel Bar for hard gel manicure. Sadly, it was a very disappointing experience. The manicurist barely spoke when I explained to her what I wanted and asked her questions. She ruined my nails with over filing and inconsistent shaping. I finally told her to stop and went immediately to Art Nail to fix.Gel Bar is probably fine for regular gel and art but not hard gel which requires a skilled and experienced technician. Stick to the salons that specialize in the hard gel techniques like Akiko, Art Nail, Bisou. The owner of Gel Bar is lovely. I tried to pay but she saw I was upset and wouldn’t let me even after I insisted. Not necessary and I still feel bad about that. I know hard gel is fairly new and only a few specialty salons do it well.
I booked my appointment via email, which was really convenient, especially because I was booking for the day before Thanksgiving.I arrived and was helped right away, it was a bit hectic, but I spoke to Naomi about what my options were and showed her a picture or two of what I wanted and asked how much it would be. I got a regular pedicure and a gel manicure with presto gel on all 10 nails.Right now, exactly 2 weeks later, my nails still look pretty good, just a couple chips, but just a day or two after I had them done, the presto gel (glitter paint) edges on almost all my nails wore off so the dark polish was showing, so it looked like I had a thin dark line on the tips of my nails, which was subtle, but you are paying a lot of money to have nails that last.Im not giving 5 stars, because:- For the price, the ambiance could be a little better. The place was pretty warm, you arent offered water or anything-Its a bit too crowded, while I was getting my manicure, the manicurist next to mine accidentally kicked me under the table and messed up my pedicure-My manicurist did not clean under my nailsI think overall its a great place to go for something special, but it didnt last any longer than any other gel manicure Ive gotten, so its not worth the price to be a regular.
Got a gel set and within a week lost 9 tips. Called them about it and was given the chance to come back and redo today. I think that’s real commitment to customers.
Fast, good quality mani, sanitized instruments. even tho I expected the space to be more clean or organized from the photos online.
Very nice and kind. I come when I am in NYC. They massage your back while manicure gets ready. Very recommendable!
Ive been twice and the manicurists are great, the place is consistently clean, and my manicure comes out perfect and and lasts long. I also love the dry pedicure, and not having to put my feet in a mystery pool of scary.
Ive been going here for years now, my nails never break and polish never chips- I go 3 to 4 weeks between visits. Everyone is so friendly I always enjoy my time in the salon!
Very hip, clean, staff is friendly, English-speaking (mostly) and helpful. My gel mani came out great, and going back for a pedi! Nice breath of fresh air compared to most midtown nail joints
Paid $140 for a mani pedi gel. This is just too much! I have NEVER paid this much for getting a gel mani pedi even in the most luxurious salons. PS the place doesn’t use water at all!
My appointment was on time and my nails look fantastic.
My nails look horrific, the service was scary, the lady gave herself more of a massage then me. And what is this speak of dry pedicures, the water is the whole point! The guys hair was puffer than my nails, my hedgehog has better hair that him. My friend got a flower she didnt even ask for then was being viewed by other manicurists. My cat didnt even like my nails, which is telling u something. Go somewhere else far far away cuz anyway in mid town is terrible-Bella Wu
TL;DR - Got the hard gel/uv gel. Paid too much ($98) and it chipped in 2 days.Uv gel/hard gel is not suppose to chip like a regular mani or soft gel mani due to the hard shell top layer. I just moved back from Korea, where they only do hard gel mani and pedi. I would always get a hard gel mani every month. So I would know a thing or two about hard gel. And I know for a fact that the polish never chips unless your are deliberately biting your nail off. I DONT bite my nails and why would I if my mani cost me $98??My technician told me there is a 2 week grace period for my nails if anything happened. I went back today to inquire about that and the lady in the front (a different lady from the one I met 2 day prior) asked if it was for a regular mani, I said no, its hard gel. She said No.No? What do you mean no? No what? No you dont have a policy for the most expensive mani? Or no, we only touch up regular manis and alway chip after 2 day? I dont get it.Anyways, I proceeded to tell her its only been 2 days and the polish has chipped already. Is there anything they could do about it. Now shes giving me attitude and saids No. Shes staring at me now, waiting me for me to leave. I asked to confirm, So, there isnt anything you can do? She says No and the technician isnt even here today. I thanked her and left.If I could give zero stars I would. The hard gel feels like soft gel. The mani isnt sealed at all and I wouldnt be surprised if the layers werent cured properly either. If you are going to do a regular mani, sure but anything else, DONT do it. Waste of money.
Gina is amazing! Got a set of amazing oxblood gel nails, sooo happy.
My nails came out very pretty but super expensive.
Ive been meaning to write a review since last year of July 13.... I clearly remember this day because I was headed out of town for my birthday. I made an appointment for a gel manicure/design. One I specifically took off of their IG page. In a quick nutshell... I had 3-4 women working on my nails. It took OVER 2 hours AND the appliqué used, started falling off the next day. Unfortunately I wasnt able to return to the salon because I was already out of town. The women doing my nails were either inexperienced or dumped me for another client. I literally watched at least 2 people on each side of me come and go. The owner was even sitting there and didnt step in at all... even with all of my huffing and puffing. THEN they tried to charge me the full amount. The one star is because, one I am half Korean and I have to say they dont talk about you behind your back.... at least not while I was there and two... I am a licensed nail tech... a salon that practices proper sanitary regulations means a lot to me.
Love the quality of my Manis and pedis. Great service.
Overpriced and poor customer service!Due to its high rating on Yelp, I went in to go try last week. I got a regular pedicure which which was about 50 dollars including tip. The ladies were nice but only a day after, the paint was coming off already. I know regular pedicure comes off easily but I thought it would keep its condition for at least three days.I was late to the appointment but I let them know when they first contacted me, I apologized over the phone and in person when I went in I didnt want to be late because I was short on time that day anyway. But the asian lady who seems to be in charge rudely said Youre late so you can get your manicure done at where you get the pedicure done. Ok. I was seating at the place where you get your pedicure done and I saw how other customers were all seated on the manicure area. I prefer to wait and then get a proper manicure done. AND I TOLD HER, I WILL WAIT IF I HAVE TO. At least when she said that, she couldve asked me nicely, then I wouldve totally understood since I was late. But no, she commanded me to stay at the pedicure station and said it was my fault. Right after she said that, I didnt even want to stay there. I didnt even want to pay for the pedicure. But I didnt want to cause a scene. I tipped them well because I went in with enough money to pay for pedicure and gel manicure.I just want people to be aware that this place doesnt care about the customer service because they do have a good business from what I witnessed. But its very overpriced for the quality you receive. I regret spending $50 regular pedicure that started coming off after a day. It was a WASTE OF MONEY. Very disappointing.Even after I apologized for being late and said I can wait, she seated me right away and treated me horribly. She couldve said since I was late I had to wait. But she didnt have to mistreat me infront of other customers. She put me on the spotlight when I went in there thinking to spend money on good quality pedi/manicure.Dont waste your money. Its not worth it.
Always do a great job and great service
Pricey but great service!
Dont send your guy here. Not only did they completely tear up his cuticles they didnt buff or polish the nail at the end. However they did manage to put asitone over his nails so that the cuts they gave him were even more red and swollen for two days. And to top it off they werent going to give him a back/shoulder rub until he asked for it. Clearly this is a place that doesnt know how to do mens nails.
Been going here for a while. Service is always great.
This place is amazing! After having a disastrous manicure just up the road, the Gel Bar saved me!
My service was very good and enjoyed the no water pedicure
The manager just denied me service for a regular manicure 30 minutes before closing. Never going back.
See Matt, hes awesome!!
Very convenient and clean.
The best nail spot in NYC
Amazing and beautiful place
Enjoyed my experience
Very rude
