I LOVE THIS SALON. The women are so kind and friendly. The prices are great, the service is consistently excellent and their back massages are worth every penny. They have survived the pandemic, only to be threatened with rent increases now - after they served Hells Kitchen so faithfully for all these years and throughout the pandemic. SUPPORT THIS LOCAL BUSINESS. They do a great job and are a real anchor in the hood. Thank you HImalaya for your great wonderful service.
Price was good but the service left a lot to be desired. I called the previous day to schedule an appointment for 2 people. We got there and waited for the second worker to show up for more than 20 min. How can you schedule an appointment for 2 but only have one worker present!? The lady that worked on me was not very nice and literally left a piece of my nail sticking out at the end. Had to cut and fix it myself at home. Not very clean either. On my manicure chair I found old used napkins and a lot of dirt in the cup holder. Over all spend a bit more and find yourself a better place. Still pretty good prices.Looks like they also may be writing review themself because the service described in a lot of these reviews was nowhere to be found during my visit to the salon.
Staff are the best! Great service and friendly. My go to place for monthly mani-pedis.
I wish I didn’t have to make this review but i am.... I’ve been coming to this salon for quite some time now (maybe a few years) my old nail tech moved back home to Korea I believe or that’s what they claim. My new nail tech Jack is great! Today I was informed that they do not do acrylic anymore. Jack is off on Monday’s, so i decided to have the manager do my nails . She’s not friendly and I feel like she doesn’t do right by the customers (she’s money hungry) I ALWAYS!!! ALWAYS TIP WELL AND MAKE NO COMPLAINTS BUT TODAY JUST SUCKED . I am not happy with the uv gel on top of my acrylic because it looks dumb. It doesn’t look shiny and neat like jack always has my nails. My next complaint is that I finished filling out 10 stamps on the back of the business card for 30$ and up services (so today I was suppose to receive a free service which would be my nails) I don’t even know her name because she’s so rude, so the manager then told me that only applies to regular manicures but how when a regular manicure costs under 30$!!!!!!!! Once again she’s money hungry towards a good paying loyal customer . It’s not right and I hope the customers will finally see and decide to not go to this place anymore . I’ve decided to not return because I am that disappointed ( I’ve also heard from other nail techs in the shop that they don’t like her) I won’t say names but she should know. I will be back to tell jack in person my experience and maybe if he works elsewhere I’ll go to that place . But I will not be returning to 42 Nails . To the manager thanks for making me feel so disgusted on a day where I should be relaxed and happy . I was not! Thanks for being great Jack! Take care
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. Worst service ever!!!! I called to asked for a refund because 4 of my nails broke within 10 hours. I understand some will break eventually but within 10 hours is ridiculous!! I was refused a refund and hung up on 5 times!!! I am reporting this horrible classless business to the better business bureau . DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME.
Its okay for a quick service.
*UPDATE - DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR NAILS DAMAGED. It is with great frustration that I had to revise my rating from a 5 star to a 1 star. Reason being, 2 days after my gel manicure with him, 5 of my nails chipped and starting splitting sideways. I went back and nicely asked them to fix it, maybe with extensions or tips or something to protect the broken nails with something more concrete because they were really hurting since it was splitting halfway. I explained that during the service, they probably filed it down too much making my nails paper thin and thus the multiple breakage. I have had gem manicures for years and this has never happened until I tried this nail salon. Instead of being helpful and trying to fix it, the manager/owner (big lady), blamed it on me, suggested a color change and that they can not perform magic!! They proceeded to cut my broken nails, but wanted to cut them below the tips which made me bleed, and they just did not care. They said if they did not cut them where it broke, its a waste of their time. Seriously?! Why would you cut someones skin and potentially give them an infection, besides being crazy painful and just unheard of?!! I was so disappointed especially since I was quite cordial and gave them a 30% gratuity for their service. All I asked was to fix the broken nails. So they can not perform magic on the damage they caused. I will never go here again.*****PREVIOUS REVIEW*****Just moved to the area so happy I found them. Theyre open late. Everybody is so sweet and nice. I am very particular and they did a really good job on my pedicure and gel manicure. Yay to my new place. Just moved to the area so happy I found them. They’re open late. Everybody is so sweet and nice. I am very particular and they did a really good job on my pedicure and gel manicure and they are fast. Yay to my new place.
Refused to take me, said to come back tomorrow…
It’s was very nice and quiet when i came in. staff was nice
I’ve been going to this nail spa for over a year. Dolma does my nails and they last for weeks. She is friendly and her professionalism is always great. I recommended my kids and friends . Great prices and service. Thank you Dolma .
Powdered Pedicure with tips- I have been looking and needed a reliable nail salon in the neighborhood for months. After visiting himalaya nail spa from a word of friend, I knew I found my place. I always get powdered nails and they last for 3-4 weeks, amazing!!!. My nail technician is Dolma, she is friendly, listens and does an excellent job. I am always satisfied and happy with the results and consistency of work. Thank you Dolma for these beauties.
Himalayan Nails & Spa did a fantastic job on my nails! My multi-colored dip powdered manicure 💅🏾 and specialty spa pedicure was awesome. The nail technicians are professional, kind, courteous and thorough. The salon is clean. The pedicure station is very nice. The music is soft and appealing. The location is CONVENIENT! It’s next to The Port Authority. I live in the neighborhood. I’m delighted I have a nail salon that gives top notch service!!! Thank you Dolma and Palkyi!!!💅🏾
Best nail salon in midtown! I always go to Dolma, shes very professional and always does my nails perfectly.
I have been using this nail place for three years plus. In these uncertain times my primary concern Is the cleanliness of an establishment and this place is top notch! The quality of their work is fabulous, and their gel manicures last a full 3 weeks. It gives me great pleasure to rate this salon with 5 stars!!
The best dip powder manicure and pedicures in manhattan! My nails last forever. Jack is the best for dip powder!!
I booked at 8:10 pm and received a Spa Massage Pedicure $ 48 Quick Dry $ 2 Gel Manicure & 35 total of $ 85. I tried to do gel nail polish only because of the late reservation time, but the staff recommended me to do both procedures. Their work time is nine oclock. They appealed to me. I was not comfortable because of the feeling that they wanted to get out of the office sooner, but I was not comfortable ... Huh ... When I dried the pedicure, they usually give me a little shoulder massage, but they did not do that either. It does not matter ... After all, the boss made to feel better about it .. I moved to Neroo ... I have been using only the nail shop here for nearly a year. .thank u^^* Oh!!! Recently, the store has been newly interiors!!its very cool~~~♧
We called the day before and scheduled two pedicures. When we arrived, they sat in massage chairs and offered us a menu of pedicures. We got basic packaging, each with a cup of green tea, and they also offered wine or water. This is my first pedicure, so I have nothing to compare it to. But we were both happy.
Best salon in hell kitchen manicure and pedicure $35 very good prices
Mismatched shape, cuticle care left my finger bleeding. Gel polish on the skin and uneven coloring around the edges
BAIT AND SWITCH. I came in to do dip powder with tips extension and had made an appointment with Jack. At first Jack did start doing my nails but within 5 minutes I was moved to another seat and another woman ended up doing my nails. Though this was extremely annoying, I thought itd be fine as long as she could also do nails just as well but she couldnt. She filed onto my skin to the point of cutting it open. She also dipped it unevenly and didnt bother fixing it when she noticed it. And then she left color and super glue all over my skin and even when I asked her to clean up the area, there was still color and glue leftover. I was just so fed up at that point that I figured I could just go home and clean it up myself.Id note that this is the second time Ive come here for dip and my first time was great. Mindy was detailed and meticulous but this time with the tall woman and Jack pulling a bait and switch, I wont be coming back. Dip with tips isnt cheap, save your money and go somewhere thats actually good or make your appointment with Mindy instead.
I got GEL manicure that didn’t last even 1 day. I don’t recommend this place at all.I got my nails done on Monday and the next day it was peeling already. I went back there, they fixed, but after 4 days, it was peeling again.I toke this picture 4 days after done my GEL nails, that lasted less than regular nails.
The attention was excellent. and love how my manicure looks.
Jack is definitely the best. I’ve tried other places in the area but I always come back here .
We called the day before and scheduled 2 pedicures. When we arrived they sat us in massage chairs and gave us a menu of the types of pedicures. We got the basic package, each got a cup of green tea, they also offered wine or water. It was my first pedicure, so I dont have anything to compare it to. But we both left happy.
Attentive pedicure...foot massage was amazing...they take their time with your pedicure and prices are reasonable midtown prices
Excellent service!!! This is my favorite place to get my nails done in New York.
This place is open late on Sundays. Their service is pretty good and they make up for it even if something goes slightly wrong. They are reasonably priced too for a Manhattan nail salon that provides this kind of service. The complimentary massages go a long way. The ladies are also friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend to visit this one over the others.
This is my nail place! Have been coming for years and Dolma and her team are very kind and welcoming and do great work. Since the coronavirus re-opening they are also very on point when it comes to safety precautions. When I arrived yesterday I was greeted at the door with a temperature check & hand sanitizer. I sat down to glass partitions and all the staff were wearing masks and gloves and sanitized regularly throughout my nail appointment. I came out feeling refreshed and pampered and SAFE. I highly recommend Dolma if you want a nice manicure that lasts and a lovely clean experience.
Sitting in the salon and writing this review while drying my toenails. This is the cheapest nail salon around, Ive been calling most of them in the vicinity trying to get the cheapest one (I work nearby), this one is it, $25 for pedicure not including tips, not bad for Manhattan. Lady was courteous and kinda quick doing my pedicure, but I dont mind, since my time is limited anyway (lunch break). She did a good job, neck rub while drying my toes was a bonus.
DO NOT go here. I got a wax (face) here and she did an awful job. The lady was so rough and I had to tell her to keep redoing it as she’s missed so many areas. The wax was also not warm at all. When I finally was finished and paid i gave her a 15% tip, I was extremely unsatisfied and honestly shouldn’t have tipped at all. I usually tip 20%, but this lady did not deserve it. When I handed her the cash she has the nerve to say “oh no you need to give me 20%”..extremely unprofessional and just rude. Her manager was there and told her my tip was fine and to go away. I told the manager I was extremely unsatisfied and she had nothing to say. Bottom line - take your money and go somewhere else.

Walked in for a gel pedi, ended up decided to upgrade my service to one of the spa packages (I chose the sea salt massage pedicure treatment). The technician was kind, courteous and gave me a fantastic massage. I also appreciated that their tv wasn’t on some channel with a bunch of blabbering, but instead it was simply showing beautiful landscapes while a soft, dreamy audio track played. It was nice. The technician also offered me tea or water which was a nice touch. I’ll definitely return to this nail spa.
The best quality gel manicure and pedicure. Good chair massages. Always friendly
I love this place very big, very friendly. Everytime I go there its not packed on the weekend. I would always have the same girl who would do my nails. Especially they close at 9 which is super great with people who have a crazy work schedule.
Erika is so good at what she does. I went in for the first time and she did exactly what I wanted and it looks better ray. What I had anticipated. I highly recommend this place.
This place is completely disgusting they need to go out of business with the rude attitudes and lack of effort to produce the right outcome for manicures and pedicures, completely frauds. and then they have a nerve to force a $10 tip out of you. this was a lesson learned never going there ever again wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone either.
I love this nail shop, it is my little gem before my commute to NJ. The massages by all of the women who work there are amazing! For price of pedicures they do a thorough job.
The service is terrible. Theyre super bias and racist. I came here twice and not by choice. I came here to do my toes because some recommended them plus I was desperate. The 1st time I came I literally waited 30 minutes till someone assisted me. They all looked and continued to say someone will be right with you. Yet no one came. A white family came and all of a sudden everyone rushed to assist them. The second time was 2 days later because the entire gel came off and I wanted it fixed once again I waited 35 minutes to fix one nail. The white woman who came after me said do you know when someone is going to assist her because shes been waiting. And thats when they did something.Terrible service if youre an AFRICAN AMERICAN. IF YOURE WHITE THEN GOOD LUCK.
Jack does the best powder dip gel manicure! The place is friendly and well worth the visit.
The best pedicure I have ever had! The ladies were awesome, the jelly was so much better than paraphine, and the massages were fantastic. No problem rating this place 5 stars!!!
I’m so sad to see so many bad reviews! I think they have hired new staff. I had an incredible experience. Had SNS done by the owner, and it’s beautiful and hard as a rock. She answered all my questions (I was curious about he process of it all) and they helped me pick a color that was best for the event I was going to and my line of work. So sweet. I’ll never go anywhere else.
The worse experience Ive ever had at a nail place, we agreed on a set price for what I wanted they then decided to do what ever the hell they wanted and when I questioned them tried to argue with me then proceeded to way over charge me for the mistakes they made and demand 20% tip when I told them from the beginning I just wanted a fill and color change they charged 170.00 for a pedicure and a fill with the tips painted white! BEWAREI WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THESE UNPROFESSIONAL CROOKS!!
This place was fantastic! Had a pedicure with gel...was wonderful. Received two massages with the lavender pedicure. Place was clean, staff friendly and massages were very relaxing. Would come again.
I had a Spa Special pedicure and Palkhi did a great job. She even did my 30 minute back massage and it was amazing. If you need a massage, check this place out.
Friendly staff, but apparently theres only one person there that can do acrylic nails with dipping powder. She rushed it and you can tell. The nails came out bumpy, not smooth and a bit uneven in length on each nail. So many good nail salons in NYC and this one is just average (below average if Im being completely honest). They did provide me with a massage while I was getting a manicure, $12 for 10 mins, which was okay. But I say spend your money somewhere else.
Friendly, attentive, affordable, and professional. Got to Port Authority earlier than anticipated and had time to kill. They are on the same block as PABT but not a part of the Time Square craziness. Will definitely return if I am in a similar time situation again!
This place is great. Clean, extremely professional, reasonable prices with good attention to detail during my pedi. I got a no polish, shiny buff pedi and was even given the buffing tool to take home with me. Skipped my lunch break and went here instead at 3:30, when it was virtually empty. Ill be back!
Horrible. Been there multiple times to test it, but it is a waste of time and money. The Nails don’t last a week, each time I do my nails with them. I don’t do much with my hands and still they come off after 3 days, every time. It was convenient to go there because I live close by but it is not worth it if the work does not last. Eww.
The GOOD reviews are FAKE! I found that out by reading one below that mentioned there is a staff member named Erika that does good work there. I called and specifically asked to book an appointment with Erika. I arrived at the salon and asked for Erika the manager said no one by the name of Erika works there. Beware guys this place is a fraud. Misleading reviews
Gel mani was peeling after 3 days
I would say that if you are not intending to spend $40 dollars on a full arm wax do not go here. It is so expensive. I dont go to nail salons in NY, that was pretty much the first time and I was shocked to see $40 for a full arm wax. I could maybe understand if they had done a great job but I had half the upper arm undone when the lady told me that she was done. She also took so long to do it, I have definitely had it done more quickly with less of an hassle in other places. I had to point her to certain areas where there was still hair left a few times. It wasnt a pleasant experience especially because I paid so much.
I got a gel manicure and a pedicure. The prices were not as cheap as advertised outside. They upcharged for nail polish color and moisturizer. It still was not expensive though—pretty standard price for the city. The manicure and pedicure certainly aren’t the worst I’ve had but they were a bit subpar. The staff wasn’t rude but not all that friendly either. Probably won’t go back as there are a lot of other options.
Great service and fantastic staff. Jing and Dolma are always accommodating. The best nail place I have ever been to and my nails have never looked better and lasted longer.
I havent even received the service yet and Im angry they charged me $10 for one acrylic finger because without it my nails would look outrageous when the full price for a set is about $40.00. They straight robbed me $10.00 Ive been to salons where I requested one nail acrylic before and I wasnt charged. I used the Snailz app and already purchased the service online I didnt want to go through a refund process. Also they didnt use the tools out of a bag they just spray with sanitizer. Not sure if they were sanitized before in the cabinet or beforehand, so if I get an infection this will be the first. My nails look good but within reason that charge is a SCAM!!! If you dont want to be scammed try the other nail salons within the 1-2 mil radius. The one star is for the service that was average really.
Too crowded and drama. Instead walking a few more blocks to my regular nail salon, I came here. One of the workers arguing with a male black customer who she claims was being disruptive to other customers and called the police. Then I was supposed to be next and my luck I get that worker, starts by putting my feet in water, then goes to another customer and starts on her! Not enough workers and unorganized! If I am told I am next that is what I expect. Never again! Will go to my regular place on 46th St bet 9th & 10th Ave. Not as big, but workers pay attention to you and take care of you!
It does not open at 10am as advertised on google. Went today at 10 and the place was dirty and the one woman there said she could not help me.
Nails chipped less than 24 hours after a regular manicure. They broke a nail. They had a bad selection of colors. The lady I had had dirt under her own nails while working on cleaning mine. She was also rude and used super glue to glue my natural nail where they broke it. For it to only look bumpy over the nail polish over it. I also accidentally nicked my thumb which I apologized for but asked if she could fix as my nails were drying but still wet. She proceeded to use her finger to pat the nick and then painted over it. I had to look at her like she was crazy. I had to ask her to do it over. How professional. I had to switch to a different lady half way through as the first one began to put lotion on my hands that clearly still had dust from filing with the Emory board. At that point I was ready to go. Will never go back. Sorry I wasted my money.
Worst nail experience ever! Only gave one star to generate review page. Had SNS applied, buffed with emery board instead of electric buffer, leaving scratched uneven surface which was still evident after clear finishing coats applied. For some reason coats didnt dry so had finger prints and smudged polish, then after oil applied to cuticles white patches appeared on nails. They didnt know why and tried unsuccessfully to fix with another coat of clear, so then painted on a coat of clear acrylic. I said But wont the acrylic peel? she (Helen I think) replied Oh no it would never peel. Attached photo shows my nails less than 12 hours later!! I was already running late to check out of my hotel and was heading straight to airport so could not ask that it be redone. I said I didnt think it was done properly and was a poor result but they still wanted full payment $50! Most unprofessional and very unethical!! Needless to say there was no tip. They should have paid me for wasting my time. Also she removed all my cuticles even though I advised I had already pushed them back that morning. I have never in my life had my cuticles removed - they are there to protect your nail from infection!!Nightmare experience and robbed of $50!
This place was a God send. Went in for a massage because of a terrible migraine. It was just what the doctor ordered.
Im not someone who ever leaves a review so you know im upset-I was in need of a fill in and pedicure, so I went around the corner where I work due to not having enough time to go to my original nail place. they were extremely nice and friendly but thats about it. they charged me $130 dollars for a fill in and pedicure gel, which my nails were not shaped right nor was the color great so i asked to change and the owner charged me 40 more not to mention the lady who did my pedicure never scrubbed my feet and then when i asked the owner do you not scrub feet she said yes and asked the lady did she scrub them she lied right in my face and said yes!!! this made me very upset, however considering my bad experience I still gave a 8 dollar tip only because I felt bad not to tip and then the owner which is Asian spoke over me and made fun of how much I left. Be careful who you speak in front of in a different language because I am a white female but I know many other languages. Horrible experience and way too expensive for the work they do.!!!!
I go to this salon every time I am in NYC. Clean, reasonable $ and great quality
Terrible, terrible service...so bad I wish I could give them zero stars. Despite asking the lady to fix the shape of my nails multiple times (she cut one side of my nail but not the other), she continued to do what she wanted with no regard for me as the customer. She had the nerve to ask for more tip after I paid for myself and a friend also. If youre from out of town, dont go to this place because youll be HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED.
Not a good place to go if you need nexgen nails. I very disappointed because it cost me $50 and there were ok quality.. they seemed like they didnt know how to put on the nexgen... my nails also started to fall apart by the 2nd week. Nexgen is suppose to last a month if done properly. I wont be going back.
Went there a few times.is a good place.they all work good except the one with the short bob haircut and blue highlights.i went for mani pedi.so while I was having my feet done. ..this lady started to do my nails.half way she stoped and begin cutting her nails on her own feet and file them with the same file she uses on customers.so disgusting.not to mention she was in a hurry to do her known mani so she rushed me.my nails didnt dry enough so all the the soak off gel is coming off after 2 days been there.i will go for pedicure and mani..but I will request for anyone except her!!!!!!!!!
Run Away!Very bad Nannybag experience: Doubtful place, not respecting commitments and with a very poor spoken english.
Excellent service and they offer massages to the legs and feet!
Waste of money! I cant belive I had to explain to the woman doing my nails what capping is!!!! Then she tried to fix a gel nail that she messes up by filing it -I had to explain to her that thats how you take off the gell! Within 4 days my gel nail came off -seriously!!
Affordable prices and every experience Ive had here has been positive. I will keep coming back and thats saying a lot.
Best Nail salo 9th aveneighborhood you can bring lot friend they are very friendly all From Tibet🙏
Fun experiance for when you spent a couple of days walking arround in Manhatten. The saff may seem rude, but note this is a culture thing. I thought it was kind of funny. Also be aware of they offer things that cost extra, but just be clare of what you want and what you expect to pay for this.
Great quality. Good price. Speedy. Super sweet.
Fast service, clean shop, and very fair prices!
This place is ridiculously priced! They want $40 for a REGULAR ACRYLIC ***FILL***. The they want $20 for a pedicure which is actually a decent price but they are absolutely crazy to be charging people $40 for a FILL. not to mention a lot of the people in there were absolutely rude!
I should have read all the reviews before coming to 42 Nail & Spa. Jack was horrible and expected a tip after he cut my finger. and to top it off he did a horrible job with the dip powder.
This workers demand 20% tips and they pressure people to get something more expensive than what you came for. I would never go back to this place
Excellent staff and customers service!
Affordable and high quality. They are also really kind!
My fav spot in the whole city! They always treat me right 🤗
Not the best experience. My nails look rushed, my pedicure was rushed. I can still feel my rough dead skin on my feet. Prices are EXTREME.
They are not accept credit or debit card. Big place but poor and bad service.
Very nice service and job
Double charged me when she saw I had lots of $100s in my purse
Really friendly staff
Nice people
Fairly priced
We were 4 to do our nails. We were very disappointed with our services.Sloppy and untidy workPoor value for money: too expensive paidHowever very welcome the team
Well...
