I never write reviews but I felt the need to share-this was hands down the worst manicure of my life. The nail technician was rude, rushed the entire process and cut corners (I was in and out in 12 mins) and this is what my gel manicure looks like after after three days. Please go somewhere else if possible.

Very disappointed in my experience. The nail tech was new and based on my experience and nail results, it shows. When paying, I’d mentioned that I wasn’t satisfied with my gel manicure, and they’d offered to touch them up in the back, but they would have had to soak them off and redo them completely, and I didn’t have another hour fifteen to give.When I tried rescheduling the appointment by calling, we played phone tag for a week so I just gave up in rescheduling the comp manicure.First few pictures are day of manicure, the second two are from five days after.

Joann is always very specific about detail when doing hair. Salon is well kept and visually appealing. Salon J offers the full service spa experience.

BEWARE! It bums me to have to warn potential customers about the my recent experience, primarily because the stylists themselves did a fine job.I had been working with the salon since spring planning trial runs, verifying services and schedules for myself and my wedding party.I was mortified when we walked in the morning of the big day to the receptionist saying have you gotten our messages, which I had no idea what she was talking about. Long story short, she communicated that they were short staffed I would have to choose who from the party was able to get their hair washed and styled that day, those who were not on the list could walk to a blowout bar across town and she would call for me. I was absolutely speechless; this was my wedding day! At the end of it, I was the only one who got washed so the bridal party could get styled; my sister and law and I tag teamed to style all of the little girls hair, and we had to leave one of my nieces there with her step mom to get her hair done as we were behind schedule.Here is the part I found completely unprofessional...1. I never received a call, text or email; they lied and said they had. We have had plenty of correspondence so they had my info. After the fact I scoured my email, no messages.2. This was a Thursday; the owner was not present, did not take the time to deliver the message, help out her staff, or call in a favor from another salon to get another stylist there. Looking back I am shocked she would let this happen to a customer. She did not even try and contact me before or after to apologize.3. Half of the scramble could have been avoided if the receptionist would have delivered a solution and options vs. relaying a unthought out, unprofessional message.Again, the stylists themselves were good. Too bad they dont work for a better business.

I booked a last minute appointment while in town for a work conference. I was a little late because of rain and a parade going on downtown but the team was very understanding. Chiquita was my nail tech and she did a fantastic job, but truly everyone there was very friendly and I felt so relaxed getting my mani/pedi in this cozy space. I highly recommend Salon J to anyone!

I made an appointment here while in town as I’m in the area a lot for travel and I can’t say enough nice things. I got a set of dip nails and it’s the most gorgeous, classy set I’ve ever had. My nail tech was wonderful and so sweet! She loves what she does and it really shows in the pride she takes in her work and her attention to detail and caring for your nail health. The staff was professional, friendly, and went out of their way to make me feel welcome. I spoke to one of the massage therapists, a hair stylist, and the person who does their aesthetics while there and everyone was so kind! I will absolutely be going back and can’t recommend them enough. I just went to get my nails done, but ended up having a wonderful time chatting with everyone and left feeling confident and pretty. Their pricing is also amazing for the quality of service I received. Go right now and book with them!

My fiance and I went in today for deep tissue massages and I cannot stress how fantastic they were!! My massage therapist, Lori, was amazing, very personable and really dug into the knots in my back. While we were only there for a 30 minute session, she absolutely made the most of it. I expected to be tired and sore after, but she somehow left me feeling energized and refreshed. My fiance said his was just as good, and that he feels like he has a brand new back.Cannot recommend them enough! We will absolutely be back!

Had a great spa day here. My husband and I were in town celebrating our anniversary and I decided to have a day of pampering. Peggy gave me a wonderful facial, Quita gave me a mani/pedi and I had a relaxing massage by one of the other staff. All three were so professional left me feeling relaxed and refreshed. I will definitely recommend this salon to anyone. Ill be back ladies!

Got my nails done here last week. High end salon but doesnt offer colored acrylics. Nails came out weird & lumpy. Different lengths.. wasnt worth the $75 they charge... go to Salon 618 instead on Dickerson Pike.Note: I do want to add that they use MMA acrylic. If you value your nails, you know this is not good for them and that its very hard to remove. (Takes hours to soak off). Also, they did leave a chemical smell the whole time I had them, but that may have just been the gel or top coat that was used.The place I mentioned above does not use MMA and is wonderful! Highly recommend them.

I came in one day to get a pedicure from Nhi, and she did an awesome job, and I went back the next day with my friend, and she got a pedicure from Nhi, and I got one from Presley and we both had a great experience! I definitely recommend going to Salon J

I am so disappointed in this salon given the location of it downtown. I decided to treat myself with a manicure and a facial and am so sad by the results.Mani/pedi:The woman who did my nails was detailed in my mani and very nice. The facility was not great. The pedicure chairs have a pullout bin your feet soak in which was very cheap. There were no jets, the water was shallow, no drain except them physically lifting the bin and dumping into a sink which was tacky. The “massage” chair did nothing but vibrate and wasn’t comfortable, I had to engage my core just to keep the bin partially closed because my legs were too short. The tools they used (ex: the nail buff and file) were not new each time which was gross. They didn’t do wax on your feet, but they did it on your hands. However, rather than putting the wax in a bag and spreading it on your hands to be sanitary, they had you dunk them in the wax bin.The facial:The woman didn’t wear her mask properly (nose out) so I was sitting there exposed for an hour. There was no massage included even though they asked on the form what pressure I liked. Instead of massaging me while the masks dried, she was texting on her phone or cleaning the tools right behind me which was so unprofessional. As soon as I walked into the room, she told Alexa to play music which should have been on the whole time for the day-spa vibe. Additionally, they where too cheap to even pay for music so I had to listen to commercials during my services. She didn’t ask about my skin type (sensitive) and all of the products burned, even the moisturizing one. The next day I looked like a snake and had to do my own exfoliating and moisture masks to try and bring my skin back to life. Also, there was so much stuff in the room because they used it to store things that it was uncomfortable and looked like a thrift shop. I didn’t even have a place to put my clothes and the tiny spot of counter that didn’t have storage had cans and cups from the staff. Even the hook behind the door had a staff members purse and jacket on it. I had no idea what the person was doing the whole time / what the products were supposed to be doing or anything. She was quiet almost the whole time expect when she talked about the electrode tools she used to zap zits. So disappointed I wasted my money and skin going here.

The woman who did my nails could not have been nicer and the location of this place was perfect, however, I felt like the salon manicure I got was not really worth the $$ as it did not last even a week. The nail polish chipped way faster than any manicure Ive ever received not even lasting 3 days before it started chipping away. I could have believed it just was the fault of the nail polish I selected if I had not treated my friend to a birthday manicure as well and her nails also started chipping super fast. Not sure if they need new nail polishes or what - but did definitely not think it was worth it and was embarrassed I got my friend such a horrible gift as it did not even last our weekend trip there so I then had to get her something else her birthday.The woman who did my nails was very thorough and did the appropriate amount of coats and was professional which I greatly appreciated, so I dont blame it on her.

Harumi did an OUTSTANDING JOB! I was in Nashville for 2 days and I was able to get an appointment for a full highlight and cut, they were super understanding about me not knowing the hair terminology, but we figured out what I wanted was a full highlight. She was nice nice very professional, I honestly with I lived in Nashville id probably go to her from now on. Crista and joanne was awesome when I called to schedule im just so happy they got me in today, I cant even say enough good words about this hair salon. She took pictures of my hair and on my request sent them to me im so happy with it :) my hair feels and looks so much better and my bangs are perfect!!!! Thank you again!!

I recently moved downtown and was looking for a reasonable nail salon without having to drive out to the suburbs but with tolerable prices. I booked a gel manicure with Nhi Le and she was great! My nails were perfectly filed to the shape I wanted, cuticles were trimmed back, and had a nice polishing sugar scrub for my hands. The gel polish turned out great and she took her time paying attention to details. I paid $35 dollars for the manicure, exactly what I was paying in Cool Springs.

In town for fun and had a nail chip. They were able to fit me in and were awesome! Everyone was really nice and Sharita did a great job. Great spot and right next to Printers Alley.

Appreciate being able to get a last minute appointment after coming from out of town. Excellent service. Technician took a lot of time with me and gave me an excellent pedicure. Very nice spa. Relaxing atmosphere.

Made an appointment for an updo online while still in NJ for a wedding in Nashville. I was placed with Presley - an absolute sweetheart and perfectionist (which I totally appreciated). My hair looked amazing. She was very friendly and did a great job. Thanks Salon J!!

3 girlfriends and I decided to take a girls/moms trip away to Nashville this summer and after a little research picked Salon J for our all day spa day. It was glorious!! They spaced all of our treatments out perfectly to where we could be with another person during mani/pedis. The facials were amazing and the technician incredible. Our 2 masseurs were BEYOND amazing. It was my first massage and not the first for the other girls, and we all agreed they did a wonderful job listening to what we needed and wanted and gave attention to those areas. Our blow outs looked incredible and made our feel so luxurious. I would say our only complaint and trust me it was TINY was that instead of a small snack in the middle of our 7 hour luxury day, we could have done for something like croissants with chicken salad, or a lunch we could order. We all even understood that wed be willing to pay a little more to get something more substantial to eat. We were starving by the time we left. However everything else was glorious. Thank you so much to all of the staff for being so wonderful and treating us so well. We know exactly where to go for another relaxing weekend!

Joanne has been doing my nails for almost 10 years! I love the salon and I also get my pedicures done there as well, by Morgan. Top notch service and everyone who works there is professional and friendly. The quality of service is second to none and I wouldnt go anywhere else for my nail needs! Great atmosphere and wonderful nail tech. I wasnt able to get into my normal place near home. I called on a Friday morning and they worked me in 30 minutes later. My nails look great. It is a little more pricey than what I normally pay for gel however the convenience of location to my office and the location smack in the middle of Nashville made the additional cost very reasonable.

I went to Salon J during Downtown Employee Appreciation week and recd the most fabulous eyebrow waxing from a Ms. Erin Baker and she is most fabulous, very kind & a real sweetie pie. The gentleman behind the desk was really sweet too! If you live or work in the downtown area, please call or stop by there, you will not regret it - they offer great services w/a smile ; ))

We had to put off a spa day we wanted to do at another place due to timing and our convention. We stopped in here. Walking distance from our hotel. They were able to fit us in, in about 15 minutes. Nice spa feel, very friendly fun girls. Kinda of a high price for the time the pedicures took but for last minute it was fine. Was a bit disappointed though later in the evening. The girl checked my nails said they were dry. But after walking back to the hotel and going to rhe beginning of the convention. Got back to the room and the polish had all smeared and pressed up into a mound on both of my bigger toes. Didnt have time to go back to get fixed. Just disappointed in spending $55.00 each plus $10.0 each in tips and my nails only looked hood for the 15 or so minutes before they said were dry.

I had just gotten into town and desperately needed my gel manicure redone for photos. I called 3 salons and they were all booked. Somehow they managed to squeeze me in at the end of the day and I was so thankful. The place is neat and doesn’t have a strong acetone smell, the staff are very nice and took care of me as soon as I walked in. I wish they had a few more gel colors but that’s not enough to make me not want to return and get my nails done here again.

We had appointments for pedicures at 12:00. Got a call at 11:45 to see if we could come at 12:15. Arrived at 12:15 and we were told they double booked.That was literally all that was said. “Sorry. We double booked, we don’t have chairs for you.”It was very poor customer service. The manager didn’t have the courtesy to come tell us, she was at the front desk when we arrived but disappeared into the back and sent someone else to deliver the news.

Best nail salon I have ever been to! I would highly recommend Nhi Le shes so sweet and does a wonderful job. I got a full set of acrilics and they are perfect.

I normally don’t spend my time writing reviews on here but I felt compelled to let everyone know what a joke the majority of the staff is here. I asked a simple question about a hair cut style and the person had no clue what I was talking about. Much like the person who posted on here James, I can see where he’s coming from and I’m sure my post will receive the same answer saying I spoke to staff members who don’t remember giving you that answer. You have multiple customers who don’t know one another telling you the same thing you may want to check your staff. If there was any possible way to give a negative score I would do so.

I am an African American woman and have been a long time client at Salon J. I have always receive top notch service. The staff is talented and professional. Erin is currently my go to technician and I am always satisfied!

Joanne makes sure that each one of us is supported in anyway she can and help us care for Our Clients to the Best of our ability. And let me say this..... How this is a salon I don’t know. The person who answered the phone didn’t even know what a fade was. Crazy. Very rude in our discussion and my asking if they could do a specific style. I manage a business and when people ask about a good place to get nails or hair done i goadltnrwll them avoid this place.

Salon J is awesome! They took in 3 of us on short notice for pedicures. They could not have been more gracious. Laura, the nail tech, did a great job on all 3 of us and now has my mom hooked on pedis. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend them to anyone and would definitely come back the next time Im visiting Nashville.

One star for being nice.... next to that this place falls short. Their full day Royal Serenity package lasts 3 hours 15 minutes. Sent my wife for a get away from the kids. Was told they could not due the sugar scrub and would extend another service. None got extended as well as some did not last as long as they were supposed too. Facial was generic and not catered to her skin type. What was supposed to be a relaxing memorable day fell short and left her disappointed. Guys dont send your wives here and expect them to come back happy!

By far the best hand and wrist massage I ever had after getting a manicure there from Sharita, who was absolutely fantastic! She was so talkative, funny and did a lasting, fantastic job on my Shellac manicure when I was in town visiting prior to Thanksgiving.

I was in town for a bachelorette party back in June with five girlfriends, three of whom are pregnant. The bride decided that she wanted a spa day so we started looking at possible placed online and found Salon J and Day Spa. We gave them a call, the guy who answers the phone didnt know too much about the services, but he was very nice and we later found out he was new so well give him a pass ;) They were able to accommodate all six of us last minute, even calling someone in for two prenatal massages. The guy at the desk also went out for some treats to celebrate the bride, we were very impressed! I was so pleased with my manicure from Sharita, she was so sweet and we had a great conversation while she did my nails. We would all highly recommend Salon J and Day Spa, thank you!!

Sharita is AMAZING! I am from out of town and was debating on getting my nails done in a new place, but Salon J had great reviews and I can see why. Sharita made my nails look like a hand model. I can’t stop pointing at things just to look at them. Everyone is so kind and friendly and very professional. If you want your nails to look great go to Salon J!

Just got my hair done today and it looks awesome! The staff was so friendly! I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

Not only was Misty’s nail work VERY poor these were other serious concerns: instruments only go in a jar of Barbicide between clients, technicians talked to each other the entire time about how poorly managed the place is and even that they don’t trust their own coworkers to work on their nails. Nail chairs suck too, you have to hold your legs the entire time or the tub slides out. Maybe the bad service was because they knew I was from out of town and wouldn’t be back? Hoping they’re better for the local community.

I absolutely love Salon J and Joann is the absolute best in the field! The new Scruples line has done wonders for my hair! It is probably the best product line I have ever used.

Best salon ever! I should know because Ive been going there for over 10 years. And I travel an hour to get there. Ive read some of the negative reviews and I think that either these people are talking about a different salon or someone is asking their friends to write reviews that make this salon look bad.

Salon J is a fantastic salon in downtown Nashville! Their team is very professional and courteous. I also love that they are very efficient, without minimizing quality. I typically visit them during my lunch hour, so dont always have a long time for a mani/pedi, but they always do a fantastic job and work with my schedule.

Salon J offers an amazing variety of treatments and has a wonderfully knowledgable staff that you can TRUST. I was in such good hands with Erin, while treating myself to a layered facial peel and an aromatherapy back treatment. She truly took the time to assess my skin and educate me on what products would produce the best results. She also set me up with an awesome at home care program so I could continue to improve my hyperpigmentation and fine lines. There was so much I didnt know about my own skin until Erin educated me! If you are anything like me, when your nails look pretty you feel pretty all over. I’m traveling to Nashville for the first time and my hotel suggested that I go to salon J andDay Spa to get my manicure and pedicure. They have online scheduling that works beautiful. I scheduled a manicure with Sherita. Sherita is a consummate professional that also knows how to have fun! I got a spa pedicure because my feet really needed some extra attention and I decided to try the Dip manicure. Sherita could tell that I was a little bit stressed from my travel day and that my husband was not going to be able to join me. So being a smart professional she offered me a glass of wine, which was exactly what I needed. The conversation was fun and light and put me in a wonderful mood. My pedicure is perfect, my feet are soft and my nails look amazing. Based on the other conversations that were going on in the spa I could tell that their clientele enjoys coming here. So if you need a little pick me up I suggest you start at Salon J.

Tourists BEWARE! I was visiting Nashville for a concert and wanted to get a wash and style for the concert that night. When I asked how much they would charge she looked at the price list and asked me to wait a minute while she went to talk to her manager. When she came back, she said it would be SIXTY dollars for a wash and style. I am certain they were taking advantage of the fact that I am a tourist and that the price for this would have been way less! I still got my hair done and for way less expensive. The girl was friendly but obviously not out for the clients best interest.

Id give them 5 stars but i only had a manicure -- if i was too gushy youd think it was a fake review. samantha did a great job! everyone was lovely, the place was clean, and the price list was reasonable/average for their services. the location is convenient, but they can be a little hard to find because of the construction work going on in the area.

In Nashville for a work event and in desperate need of some Nail Care. Sharta Careu did an excellent job of getting me exactly what I needed and in a very timely manner. She is awesome and I was so glad to meet her. The next time Im in Nashville Ill make sure I need to have my nails done again by Sharita.

2014: I had a great time and Jen was terrific! Im trying to rationalize leaving my current salon for them....thats how good they are. : )*update: I did leave my salon for Salon J - I stayed with SJD for almost 3 years -- until Jen Woodall left. Sadly, the new lash lady was not up to par and so I made my departure shortly after Jens. I still miss those days. I can no longer say one way or another whether this place is good or not.

My friend and I booked manicure appointments and then were pushed back 30 minutes only to then be told we could not be accommodated at the same time, despite us intentionally booking two appointments at the same time. My normal manicure took over an hour and my friend was not able to get her nails done at all.Edit: Ill also note that the quality of the manicure wasnt very good. My friends dip manicure was lumpy and strangely matte and mine was streaky and chipped within hours and the top coat didnt cover the manicure at all.

She and her staff have provided nothing but quality care and service every single visit and make each experience for the client intimate, personal and undivided. A true gem in Downtown Nashville.

Amy did a great job on the overall color of my highlight but I had to go have a color correction done when I got home because she left horizontal stripe all over my head it was awful. The staff is quite friendly and the atmosphere of the shop was great so hopefully she just had one bad hair highlight day.

I have been a client with Salon J for almost a year in which I am in there obtaining multiple services at least once a week. I remember when Diamond Perry was hired and to see her post such a negative comment that I know to be the furthest from the truth breaks my heart. I see and adore Tiffany, however I have used multiple people throughout the past year, plus Joanne is a Top Notch owner!! I personally witnessed how hard they worked to build Diamonds clientele while she was there. There were never any negative comments, looks or even the slightest feeling of uncomfortableness ever!!! Evette Counts, Kaylee Binkley or others that have posted poor responses in the past few weeks, I am not sure how or why you feel the way you do, but I am sure that you never stepped foot into Salon J. I have never seen or known anyone to be treated with anything but the highest regard of professionalism. Trust me as I have sent many people to Salon J in the past year of multiple ethnic, religious and both genders and if your accusations were true, I personally would have heard of this before now!! I dont understand how or why either of you feel that you should publicly attempt to trash such a loving and outstanding business. I pray that you can take a moment to reflect and do the honest thing by removing the false accusations and slanderous commenrs that you have placed here!! I know this is a strong statement, but it is a completely honest one. I love EVERYONE at Salon J as if they are a part of my family and miss it when people leave, including you Diamond!! If I could give them a 10 I would, but 5 is the best I can do. To future clients, you will NOT regret going to them, tell them I sent you!!

This was the worst spa experience Ive ever had. Me and sister were in town for a hair show and I booked a couples massage for us for 1:30pm. One massage therapist was there and the other showed up around 2:10pm and when he walked in he immediately said (loud enough for us to hear him) I should not be here! Unfortunately for my sister, she had him and I could hear her frustration from the other room.. Yes the other room. I thought couple massages were in the same room.. Or at least in every other spa they have been. She said he was so rude, got frustrated with her and she was so mad the entire time. You would think with the receptionist knowing how awful the experience was she would offer a discount or something or a coupon for next time. Nope.. She apologized which was nice. But we will never be going back... We arent that hard to please.. But I had to post this. Im sure the salon part is great, just dont go get a massage.
