Ignore the reviews from the Karens complaining about the front desk and such. This place is terrific top to bottom. The ladies up front are all warm and welcoming, they were all fawning over my recently rescued kitten, Dr Jenna was extremely helpful and Brittany was just the icing on the cake, very gentle and attentive- Im new to all this and wasnt really prepared or equipped but they all went out of their way to make sure Kirby got the treatment and care he needed. Super grateful. You can tell these people genuinely love animals and that its not just a job for them. 5 stars all around.
Dr. Bell is literally the best veterinarian ever. He treats our dogs like his own to the point that they get excited to see him. Thank you!
Had my pup in to repair a hernia and to get fixed. After the procedure the sutures looked fairly amateurish and ugly. I came back to have the hernia site reexamined and the vet assured me that while it looked a little ugly the hernia was closed and all we well. Unfortunately, a month later the hernia popped back out again.I’d also note that the vets are very kind, and generous with their time. However I’ve found the army of receptionists to be fairly rude, hurried and stressed out. And I’ve never been able get in to an appointment without waiting at least 30 minutes.Unfortunately I will not be returning to this hospital again. As a sidenote several emergency vets I’ve had over the years have warned me that they’ve seen mistakes and surgeries from this hospital. Obviously anecdotal but I thought it prudent to pass along.
Quite possibly one of the worst vet practices I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been taking pets to vets in this country and others for 30yrs. Terrible communication and record keeping, no one seems to actually listen to you and keep notes on what the owner is saying. Seems the vet we had been seeing also left and no one bothered to communicated this to us. Even trying to obtain our dogs records to transfer to another vet has been a frustrating process of around 10 emails back and forth trying to get the incorrect information updated. It shouldn’t be that hard... clear concise communication and good up to date record keeping. Really disappointing.
My Blue Heeler was Diagnosed with lymphoma so I had more trips to VCA Murphy road than you’d like. Through out the last year and half Dr. Fields and everyone else gave my dog the best care you could ask for. I really can’t recommend bringing your pets here enough. The most caring employees.
Just want to share that I started taking my Standard Poodle to Gabby at VCA Murphy Road and she does an amazing job. And I am incredibly picky about how my poodles are groomed. And she even offers 2 options for drop off. Morning sessions and afternoon sessions. So grateful I found her!
Truly one of the best facilities in all of Nashville. Wonderful, caring staff that are well educated.
Completely unimpressed with the front desk staff, called to ask if they would take a look at my dog (an existing client of the vet) who was bitten today and they said they are completely booked and that “we hadn’t been in in a really long time which was a whole other issue,” when our last visit was less than 1 year ago. When I responded with that she acted confused and like she had gotten me mixed up with someone. Such a gross encounter, I can’t understand why someone would try and make a pet owner feel bad when they are seeking out care for their pet. Hire some people in the front who actually care about animals and maybe we’ll consider coming back.
Ive been going here for years. I trust Murphy Road animal hospital with my pets. They have always taken great care of my pets over the years. When I took my dog katie in for allergy shots etc recently, Dr Bell even called about katie and how she was doing! Great and friendly staff. Wouldnt want to go anywhere else! Awesome job Murphy Road Animal Hospital!
I’ve been going to vca for 2 years. Our new dr has been really great and patient with me as I ask a lot of questions. He’s always given me good feedback and recommendations. My issue is not with the drs, it’s the front desk. Whenever I call, they are always rude and impatient. I called today to see if bravecto was the best option for flea and tick prevention as I keep finding ticks on my dog after hiking, (which I get is normal) and a lady with a northern accent was very rude (didn’t get her name). She didn’t listen to my question, she talked over me, she kept telling me the same thing over and over (stuff I already knew, not related to my question) as I was trying to talk. I simply just wanted to know if there was a better option for flea and tick prevention and she couldn’t give me a response other than bravecto is the best one and ticks are still going to get on him because it’s not a repellant. Obviously. Just wanted some recommendations. Didn’t want to be talked down to or talked over.
I am new to the area and asked a friend where she took her dogs. She recommended Murphy Road Animal Hospital. With the Covid situation, we were met at the car. The staff has been very concerned and willing to share any questions with the doctor. We have also gone for grooming. My dog is happy to visit and eagerly runs off with these strangers. The doctor calls and gives updates while we wait on the car. Good experiences all around.
I was exactly 6 minutes late for my appointment and when I arrived they took the next dog in instead of mine and told me I would have to come back because I was late! SIX MINUTES LATE!!!!!!! Unbelievable!!! I will NEVER go back again!!!! Very unprofessional!! Poor service!
I have been bringing my pets here for 2 years and have always had a pleasant experience. Unfortunately I will not be going back. Today, I called (ten minutes before they were scheduled to close a time I wasn’t aware of until I was told) and asked about availability to bring in two cats for chip scans in the next few days. The person on the other end of the phone said they are busy, so I asked if they had any availability tomorrow or monday - to which she responded they are closed on sundays. The part that was so heartbreaking was when she told me to knock on doors and post to social media, when I responded telling her thanks, but I have already done both of those things and just wanted to talk to professional or help with next steps on how to help these cats find their home - she didn’t even let me finish and clicked the phone, hanging up on me. They do KILLER surgeries and chip implants for a steep ($400) cost. However, the customer service is not what it used to be.
Excellent service & great positivity for pets & owners.
My last visit will be the last time I take my dog to the VCA. They always try to get you to pay for bloodwork and test that will ring up your medicinal bill. I took my pup in for her vaccine shot and a health travel certification. It was $58 for the exam and then an additional $76 for the piece of paper to go along with it. I price checked with other vets and they were around $88 total for both. The VCA gave me numerous excuses for the cost but nothing justified their charge. Finally the BIG miss on their part. I told Dr. Bell that Lady had been itching a lot and we did not know what was wrong with her. He said he didn’t find anything and said he could prescribe an antibiotic. I said no because how can you medicate when you don’t know what’s wrong. I took her to a vet at home in Montana, they found fleas. Did Dr. Bell really look? I’m not sure. But if a vet in Montana who never deals with fleas especially in winter can find it seems like something he should have found.
I couldn’t express how grateful I am to find such a comfortable place to make my pet too. From the front desk all the way to the Veterinarian, they made me and my pet feel well taken care of! If you’re looking for a new location to take care of your four legged friend I highly recommend.
I really never leave reviews but I’ve gotten a few second opinions and feel that it’s worth saying that the VCA seemed to be taking advantage of me. I brought my cat in because she was lethargic and not eating. I used a free first visit coupon and had them check it out. They charged me $350 for a consultation and some antibiotics and they told me that my cat might have a jaw tumor. They saw a small amount of swelling and told me that my cat might have a tumor. I don’t know why they did that, but it felt like they were trying to scare some money out of me. They called me 2 days later with a treatment plan that was ranged from $850-$1300 worth of x-rays, blood work and a tooth removal. They told me her blood work returned with an “abnormally high calcium level” in her blood. They told me that this could be a sign of liver cancer. They told me that they would need to run a slew of tests ranging from x-rays to blood tests to biopsies to determine whether or not it was cancerous. I decided to take my cat to a different vet for a second opinion. They told me that they should never have assumed cancer, that her calcium levels were barely higher than normal, her tooth may or may not need to be removed and that there should be no way I was charged $350 for the first consultation. Today my cat went to get her tooth removed by the other vet and they told me that she just needed antibiotics and a teeth cleaning. I feel as though the vet at Murphy Road VCA seemed to be trying to run as many tests as they possibly could to make as much money as possible. I’m very frustrated and I don’t want anybody else to deal with the stress that they put me through.
I can’t truly express my sincere gratitude for the wonderful people who work here. I lost a cat near and dear, Pepper, that suffered through a blocked urethra (common in male cats so be aware if they ever have bathroom problems or bloody urine). The doc literally drove in their car with me the half hour to a surgical facility, waited with me, advised me, and even though I ultimately made the toughest decision after learning there was nothing else to do, they stood with me through it all. I will always bring my pets here..they not only are the utmost professionals, they care about each and every animal as if it were their own. These people are everything I want to care for my pets. Thank you all!
VCA Murphy Rd is best in class. The care provided has always been of the highest quality. The doctors and techs are thorough & compassionate. The receptionists are always attentive & helpful. When we have an urgent need for vet support- they are always accessible & accommodating. If you love your pets like crazy (like we all do), take them to Murphy Road.
Got there for the parking lot check in, which is normal. The lady that answered the phone said “can you please hold thanks” click, with no pause or asking who I was or why I was there to triage the situation ( I did not have an emergency luckily) and after 10 minutes on hold (literally 10) she took my information and come to find out, what they don’t tell you on their website is that they wanted to take my cat in without me and the vet was going to call me during the “exam”. Knowing with that greeting how it was going to go, I left.
As a medical professional for the last 40 years - I am appalled by the refusal of this clinic to provide the necessary medicine for a young pup with pneumonia. Clearly they are only motivated by making money rather than delivering the right type of service – let alone – any type of help. My daughter has a very sick dog and is currently unable to visit the vet with her dog – and the clinic insist they will only resupply the needed antibiotics if she comes into the office. Interestingly – after charging $500.00 and doing nothing for the dog – referring them to a specialist to rule out a bogus neurological diagnosis – the dog simply has pneumonia – easily diagnosed with the history and given oral antibiotics to go home with. Shameful that we now find this atrocious quality of service for our dear little friends that can not speak for themselves.
Ive been going to Murphy Road for 10 years for my dog. Prior, I went there 17 years with my cat. The longer I go there, the worse they treat me. Example, they prescribed medicine before they did the tests & expected me to sign off on the costs. Then why do the tests? Why do the medicines costs so much more there than at any other pharmacy? They wont groom the dog unless shots are current; I pick her up they have groomed her but didnt have time for the shots. They automatically add flea/tick medicine to my bill before asking. Speaking of which, my dog has gotten fleas there 3 times before then they accused me of keeping a home with fleas...no. Also, when I come in they act as if Im bothering them. Thank you but no. Before the owner responds, please keep your comments to yourself. If you wanted to make the place better, talk to your staff not me.
I called to do a vet reference and needed to ask a few DIFFERENT questions and whoever I spoke to on the phone was very short and didnt give me the time of day. I understand they might have been busy, but there is no excuse for this. I only had 4main questions to ask so I wasnt hounding them. She ended up hanging up on me in the middle of another question that I needed clarification on. If this is how they treat clients in person, I WOULDNT go there.
If you value your time and money, make the decision to go elsewhere. No regards for anyone’s time and “keeping appointments”. No communication with services, fees, or billing. I will never be back to this place. The only reason i give them 2 stars is because the tech was extremely apologetic with how we were treated. Oh and make sure they don’t overcharge you or consider your already free exam your “discount” they offered to you.
I had an emergency, other vets (including my usual), were booked up and didnt allow any walk-ins. VCA was sympathetic and allowed my french bulldog to be seen. I forgot the vet I saw, but he was very knowledgable and explained everything thoroughly. I was pleased with their service and their ability to see my dog the day of. Pricing was good too. No extra/hidden fees/unnecessary work-up as some other vets/emergency vets do. I highly recommend!
The vet was very unprofessional. Brought my dog in for vaccines then was lied to about shots that are optional and they said were mandatory.(they aren’t) when I made suggestions about my dog not liking his head grabbed I was ignored and the vet continued to do so. When I offered to help put him on the table, I was ignored again. Never once did the vet attempt to comfort the dog, just lecture me. The vet assistant looked embarrassed. I will not be coming here ever again. Don’t talk down to your paying clients, make inappropriate comments about people that work in the industry and stop pushing meds to get a kick back.
I have always had a positive experience. All the staff have been kind and attentive. We usually see Dr. Bruce Graves who is fabulous in every way. He is very patient, explains treatment options and cost in depth and welcomes questions. I highly recommend!
I cannot say enough about VCA Murphy Road Animal Hospital. As a first time dog mom I have had a lot of questions, and the staff has been so helpful. They are quick to respond, thorough, and truly care about all the pets (and the pet owners) that they treat. They will even give you a phone number to text pictures to if you think somethings is wrong with your pet. They are there for you and your pet at all times, and very reliable. They do great work. I never write reviews, but they truly deserve a 5 star. Thanks VCA team! -Nash & Colleen Slattery
Since my first visit, these guys have cared for my pets like their own and made me feel like i’ve been going there for 20+ years. They’ve got some real special doctors and support staff and i wouldn’t take my pets anywhere else. Thank you Murphy rd for all you do!!
All vets are pricey. There is not a time in my life where I did not have veterinary sticker shock. What you are paying for with Murphy Road Animal clinic, is for a clean and well maintained facility, high end equipment, caring, communicative staff, and excellent overall care.My dog most likely has a brain tumor, and Ive been working with this practice to try and rule anything else out in my dog. My primary vet, Dr. Graves takes the time to do over the phone consults, and the front desk has gone above and beyond answering questions, and making me feel less helpless whether Im in the building, or on the phone. In my dogs 10 year lifespan, I have visited no greater veterinary practice than this one, and Im glad to have put my dogs life in their caring hands. Our last trip was fairly jarring, and we had to expedite an X-ray that we had scheduled in advance. Without question or hesitation, the staff quickly accommodated us, and got her X-Rays done. We visited Dr. Redden, who was gracious and kind, and explained everything to us in a way that was palatable and easy to understand. I can not say enough good things about Dr. Redden.I am grateful for this clinic, and wish I could have seen them under better circumstances, as they are truly a gem to me.
We moved from a veterinary hospital close to our house because the doctor and staff, while technically competent, were not friendly and caring toward our pet, who we eventually lost late last year. We adopted a kitten from Nashville Cat Rescue who had been left in a dumpster and received a recommendation to Murphy Road. We had him and our other adopted kitten examined and taken care of for their first routine visit a couple months ago. Everyone from the reception to the technicians and doctors were all great! Really worth the extra few minutes drive for us.When we ended up with these four newborn kittens last week, we had no idea what to do and receiving a variety of recommendations from a lot of folks (some suggestions were ridiculous). We knew the babies, separated from their mother, would die within hours and finally decided to just go to our new vet. We literally walked in the door with a box of kittens. Instead of being met with a group of people protecting their own interests and telling us they could not help - we had immediate assistance from caring professionals. We were given several syringes, milk and even a crate that had been donated. A technician took time to tell us how to feed the kittens and gave us what we needed. Other agencies and people eventually came to our assistance and a special lady took responsibility for bottle-feeding the babies. One of them is still alive today. We value the attitude of the staff at Murphy Road, both for the way they have treated our pets and for the way they helped us when we walked in the door unannounced with a box of kittens. It really shows the true nature of a group and we look forward to staying with them and recommending them to our friends.
We were traveling to Nashville from out of town and our dog got sick (vomiting, diarrhea). We were able to see the vet about an hour after I called, which was great. Everyone who works there is both kind and professional. They outlined 2 treatment plans and also provided pricing before taking action. I would HIGHLY recommend this clinic. If I lived in Nashville these folks would be my go-to.
I have had to bring my Chihuahua, Pebbles, twice to have a tooth extracted. Both times Dr. Bell was amazing with her, and very helpful with letting me know the best course of action. The staff at Murphy Road are really great and very helpful, and I have always felt comfortable with bringing both my dogs to see them for everything. Additionally, their grooming services are AMAZING! They always do a great job and I feel much more comfortable bringing them here as opposed to anywhere else.
I had a very poor experience at this animal hospital. I had purchased a puppy through their partnering adoption center and due to circumstances out of our control had to return the puppy. This was not easy for me to do, as it would be for anyone having to return a pup that they got attached to. One of the ladies at the front desk ( I don’t know her name but she sits on the very end of the front desk) made me feel absolutely horrible about myself. She hung up on me when I called to ask a question about the return and was very rude about it once she found out I was returning the dog. Then when I arrived she refused to let me hold my dog and have a few extra minutes with her in the waiting room, when I demanded that she hand me the dog back she had the audacity to roll her eyes at me and act as if I was going to hurt the dog. The dog was shaking when the lady was holding her but as soon as she gave her to me the dog stoped shaking immediately. She was very odd when we brought the dog home too, insisting that she held the dog. I told the Dr how she made me feel as I was sobbing and she reassured me that that was not acceptable behavior and made me feel a lot better about my decision. Regardless, I do NOT recommend this vet office to anyone because they are over priced and hire people that have no regard for human emotion.
Murphy Roads Dr. Bear completely resolved an ear mite/infection issue that had plagued my pup on and off and which other vets could not seem to eradicate for a fee of $306. However, she seemed completely insensitive to the fear my pup feels and displays at physical nearness of strangers. My dog has clearly been abused in the past and is terrified of strangers, although my presence provides her some comfort. Although Dr. Bear herself stated that she felt Glory acted fearful like a lab test animal, she was still aggressive and seemed impatient with her, at one point grabbing her face and putting it close to hers and saying Glory youre not going to win. I remember thinking that my dog who hasnt bitten anyone might actually bite her, having been left no other recourse. Im not sure, but I think had that happened Glory would have indeed won. Fortunately there was no biting, but I felt so sad for my poor, sweet dog who needed soothing words and slow, tender movement to be her best. The vet tech (young, black, medium height with a pretty name that I cant remember) seemed very intuitive to my unspoken concerns and was extra sensitive to me and Glory. She was great. Also, she front desk staff has over several occasions been attentive, friendly, and helpful. However, they are very busy and I too have witnessed and been a part of records getting lost or mixed in with other records, so be aware this may happen. Ill continue to participate with Murphy Road, however, I dont wish for my special needs pup to see Dr. Bear again. If your pet is the happy-go-lucky type, she seems to have plenty of medical knowledge to offer.
I expect the best care for my pets and I found it at Murphy Road Animal Hospital. The appointments are kept on time and if they arent you are informed by the wonderful staff of the delay. I have seen a few vets there and have always been fully satisfied with their care. Estimates are given and fully explained with options, which is wonderful. I will never take my pets to another animal hospital. Murphy Road Animal Hospital definitely gets 5 stars from my family and my pets! If you are new to the Nashville area or just looking for a different vet, Murphy Road is the place! Keep up the good work!
I have had wonderful and a couple of awful experiences here over the years with my pets. The services performed have met my standards and have been great but sometimes not for the price. If its for grooming or shots might recommend going else where. Overall I believe this vet is still in the top of my choices for a pet emergency and would highly recommend this place if you live nearby.
Best vet ever. Ive been taking my babies there for over 20 years. The only reason I didnt give 5 stars is that it is a bit pricey. Nonetheless, I wont go anywhere else. They are so caring and take very good care of your animals. I trust them with my most valuable friends.
New to the area with two standard poodles, I asked a variety of pet owners where is the best vet in Nashville? Murphy Road was the consensus choice among those queried.I was very pleased with my first two visits, both for total exams and one of those diagnosed for an ear infection. The veterinarian assigned to us was superb, both in knowledge and bedside manners! The office is very busy but highly efficient; waiting time minimal - and total experience maximal.
I had just got my new rescue dog Sophia Sofie. I never even got to sit down. Once I gave them the information they needed, Sofie was called into the office. Another 30 min. we were on our way home. The service was great.
Im sure the Drs are great, and theyre in a good location and have parking and its easy to book appointments and all that, but I recently brought my cat in the check if she has worms. I have small children crawling around my house so its a big deal to me. The Dr said results would be in within a couple of days. Four days go by, no call. When I called to see if I missed their call, the desk worker said results werent in yet. A little frustrated, I figure Ill give it a few more days. 9 days later, still no call. I called again to figure it out only to be told results arent in yet, so I knew something was up. I clarified the worm test I was expecting and she checks and, sure enough, results came back in the day after I took my cat in and I just never got a phone call. For a $220 appointment, I expect a darn phone call.
We have taken our pup to Murphy Road Animal Hospital for about two years. From routine check-ups to urgent foreign-object-eating-episodes (we have a Lab!), the staff and vets at Murphy Road have taken great care of us. I have called multiple times with questions and the staff is very helpful and friendly. Even for drop-in visits, we have always had reasonable wait times and thorough exams. I really feel comfortable having our dog in their care.
Murphy Road Animal Hospital is simply the best place to take your pet in Nashville! We have seen three different doctors on three different occasions, and all of them have been patient with us as we are learning about our first pet, Eisley, our Siberian Husky. They take the time to answer any questions and have offered medical and basic training techniques to help our family enjoy our pup even more. We are excited to take her back for her one year appointment in March! Thanks Murphy Road!
Have always had a good experience here. While I have never boarded, the exams and care under Dr. Bell have been exceptional! The front desk staff is not only friendly, but knowledgeable and if they dont know, theyll find out for you. After providing our senior Dachshund, Hugo, with the best care, and when the time came, they helped us see him lovingly and compassionately to Rainbow Bridge. So, I was eager to introduce our new rescue, Charlie (another Dachshund), to Dr. Bell, and everyone there. Bring your four legged loved one here with confidence!
Always get great service. My bulldogs love the extra attention they get from all the staff. Dr. Bell gets in the floor and loves on them. Dr. Frost has French Bulldogs, so she understands their needs.
Dont take your dog here if you care about them / their wellbeing at all.We took our pup here since we got him at Love at First Sight across the street (who have been nothing but lovely and wonderful). At first, our experience at VCA was good- most of the staff there are super, super friendly and were very sweet to our puppy. However, there have been numerous mistakes that are plain negligence that are a) incredibly frustrating and b) disturbing.Firstly, we scheduled our dogs neuter appointment on November 15th - this appointment was made in September (on Sept. 27th). I got a call from VCA not a week before the surgery asking when wed like to schedule our dogs neuter surgery. I told them it was scheduled for the 15th and the person I spoke with told me that there would be no surgeons working that day so we had to reschedule. We had Thanksgiving travel plans and had to readjust our entire work/travel schedule to accommodate their mistake. Okay, fine, things happen, it was annoying but not the end of the world. But then- they microchipped our dog twice due to pure negligence. Before traveling for Thanksgiving, we asked them if they could microchip our pup *just in case.* We had asked at previous appointments but got some pushback from the vet who said it was better just to wait until his neuter surgery. We did our own independent research on the microchip process, and decided to ask for the microchip if it wasnt going to be painful. On the day of our checkup, the vet talked us through the microchipping injection and we decided to get it done. Our dog was perfectly fine with it and didnt even wince. But when we brought him in for his neuter, they microchipped him AGAIN!! Literally pure negligence. It was our most recent vet visit and should have been at the top of his file. Now if, God forbid, our pup gets lost, the process of finding him again will be doubly as complicated. I am just appalled at the gross negligence of this place. When our dog came out of surgery and we were told he was microchipped again, the nurse was rude about it, and told us it wasnt a big deal and we just had to have both of his numbers. That attitude of it doesnt matter that much is probably why he was microchipped twice in the first place. There were no apologies. There were other things- follow-ups never being made, trying to charge us for super expensive/unnecessary add-ons (i.e. laser surgery vs. traditional surgery, which is only recommended for older dogs), gross disorganization, trying to push really expensive lab tests, etc.Well be taking our dog elsewhere to a place that actually cares about his wellbeing.
Our first visit to Murphy Road Animal Hospital this past Saturday exceeded my expectations. From the initial call to the end of the visit, everyone on staff was exceptionally kind and courteous. My dog is usually very unwilling to enter veterinarian offices, but she remained calm throughout the entire visit. Thank you Murphy Road Animal Hospital for making us feel welcome and taking such great care of us.
My dog has a very sensitive stomach & I was discussing with a coworker about how I would like to find a chew-bone that she could enjoy without the aftermath of an upset stomach. A patient in the waiting room in my office overheard my discussion & suggested I contact Murphy Rd. Animal Hospital because it was a great animal hospital. I called & spoke with a very nice woman, she took the time to discuss with me my options & explain what would be good vs. not good. Considering that its the Friday before a holiday (which means they are probably really busy), my dog has never been seen by any of the doctors at this animal hospital, & the woman still took the time without rushing me to speak with me is very great service! If I did not live out of town I would definitely use this animal hospital for my dog. Thank you to the woman who took the time to help me!
Hands down, the best full service vet center in the region. You can always expect caring professionals to give your pet the best care available & treat them as their own. I would not take my pets anywhere else.
As a first-time dog owner, I often have questions about my dogs health. The doctors and staff at Murphy Road are very patient and knowledgeable and I always feel welcome to take the time I need with the staff to fully understand my pets health. My dog always walks in and out of the vet with her tail wagging, which means a lot!
My cat developed a bladder issue about four months ago. I visited the VCA vet many times during this period, and they were always very friendly. However, I have one experience that has left a bad taste in my mouth. In the course of two months, I paid for three bladder tests for my cat. The first two showed blood in the urine. I put my cat on a regime to help the bladder inflammation, but he kept peeing outside the litter box. When I got the third urine test, the test was meant to determine whether I should pay for an expensive X-ray, because I was worried that it might be something serious. The vet told me that the urine test revealed Crystals in the urine, which are a precursor to stones. I paid for the expensive X-ray, which showed nothing. Two months later, I was still treating my cats pee problem as something medical, and trying all kinds of hormone therapies and switching out his food in case of allergies. I decided to get a second opinion from a different vet, Paws and Claws (which I recommend), and they looked at the records and told me that the last urine test showed no blood. This was news to me; the VCA vet had not told me this. In addition, the new vet said that the levels of crystals in the urine at the time of that test were perfectly normal. It turned out that the urine test showed that the bladder was no longer inflamed TWO MONTHS prior, and I had paid for an expensive x-ray for nothing. I dont know why the VCA vet failed to inform me that my cat was now healthy and no longer in pain. I want to believe that maybe she was just being lazy or forgot about my history. I am not sure, but this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth.
I will never go to another vet again - the entire staff is fantastic, and they are incredibly customer-centric. Appointments are easy to schedule, everything runs on time, they take plenty of time to help you understand your choices (in a very consultative manner), and they are conscious of helping me save money while theyre at it. If PEOPLE medical practices were this good, it would be a better world. Highly recommend!
Everyone at Murphy Road is so helpful! I love that I can drop my dog off in the morning for his appointments, shots, etc. and pick him up on my way home from work. I also love that they file my insurance claims for me! Im confident that Stewie is receiving the best care! Dr Young is so patient with all of my questions. My only negative, is that on several occasions I have been placed on hold for 15 min + when trying to schedule an appointment, ask a question, etc.
Murphy Road Animal hospital has been great with my pet, Patch. Every doctor whom we have seen treat us like family.Highly recommend this clinic to all who love their pets.
We had a bad surgery, wrong stitches, a horrible infection and the vet NEVER called us back AND NEVER told us our dog had cancer. Even when I called to cancel the appointment to get stitched removed, they didnt ask why, didnt ask how he was doing and again the vet NEVER ever called us. We ended up at Brentwood Veterinary Clinic who were amazing and saved our dogs life. Murphy Road is too busy to give the personal attention that we all want for our pets.
Murphy Road Animal Hospital was the place I chose after a lot of research upon adopting my dog Jack last year. The reviews were all very good, the only negative thing written was that their pricing is a bit too high--this however I did not believe to be true in my visits. In my personal experience I have felt that they give some of the best care, are ready to answer any questions I have, and have good pricing. When I first adopted Jack, I was still in college and on a tight budget, however, they were willing to help spell out the different costs and they all were reasonable. As a new dog owner, I felt that they really took the time to take good care of my dog and answer any questions/concerns I had. They are very involved with making sure we make it to all our checkups and shots, and they also send out a few emails a year reminding us helpful things about different holidays and seasons.I would HIGHLY recommend this vet for any and all pet lovers in the Nashville area.
Made a reservation for 2 possibly 3 nights, with special circumstances my old dog may bite, wanted to come walk and feed him daily, as we are in hospital less than 3 miles away. Their insurance will not allow owners in kennel, which is b.s. have worked in them b4. So now I have to try to keep my husband in hospital after major back surgery dog in car... and they are sorry, never should have accepted the reservation as they were told UPFRONT.
They are the best vets i have found in Nashville. They helped our beloved dog survive a terrible disease. Dr Bell is Gods gift to animals.
When my cat has been ill, the vets at Murphy Road have gone above and beyond to check on her by calling me on the weekends and not charging for follow up appointments. Its that kind of service that keeps me coming back even though I no longer live that close by. I highly recommend Murphy Road Animal Hospital.
Im tired of being put on hold Every Single Time I call, being kept waiting a LONG time, and then (MANY hours later) having the vet TEXT instead of CALLING me. Plus closing with Ill be in the office tomorrow if you have questions...yeah, right, like Im going to call again to repeat the whole process. Beyond annoying. Ive been concerned about changes in my dogs health since they increased his Rx dosage months ago, and they just keep dismissing my concerns. Now they recommend (via text) almost $200 in tests! Thanks for the personal touch. Ive had it. Im going to a new vet today where Ill be able to SPEAK to the vet and not shuffled among front desk clerks and assistants.
My dog got sick the day I moved to Nashville, and a family friend reccommended Murphy Road. They have been nothing but wonderful every time. These past few months have contained about 3 different pet emergencies for us, and they saw us quickly. Each doctor explained everything in great detail, and we couldnt be more please with their service. 10 out of 10! And my dog loves everyone there too!
We have been very happy customers of Murphy Road for 3+ years. They have always given thorough personal care. We have seen a lot of the doctors and all have been very professional and knowledgeable. A+
Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Took great care of both of us. Will be new Vet going forward and would recommend to all.
Very friendly and helpful. Everything was thoroughly explained to me and they were so great with my dog! Thank you guys!
My dog had never been to a kennel before, and I was apprehensive about bringing my baby to a strange place. I can only say that the staff was sooo good with my dog!We have gone back, and Murphy Road is our number one choice for boarding AND care.
The vets are good but the value is questionable for the Nashville area. For example, a neuter for a small boy dog they charge $400-600 for a neuter! Theyll say they have them all day and provide lots of high quality medicine but so do most animal hospitals. Goodlettesville is $115 and just as good. Including required physical. Belle Meade is even a couple hundred cheaper on surgeries. However, my complaint is their deceivingness. Expect to pay a lot more than you think. Last example, my other dog had cancer. Murphy road said it would be $800 to have a mass removed. The bill arrives and its $1250. I explained that we had agree on $800 and we were able to work it out.
Great grooming first time there and super convenient for Sylvan Park residents. Plus the $25 referral fee (for the referrer and referee) is pretty great!
Murphy Road Animal Hospital,, PC has been providing excellent, loving, and professional care for my dear dogs since 1987. Its a wonderful clinic that I highly recommend to anyone wanting the very best in care for their pets.
Murphy Road Animal Hospital is great! They are associated with the Love at First Sight Animal Shelter and they saw us right away when my fiance and I adopted our kitten there (September, 2012). Since then, weve seen them for all of the cats check-up and healthcare needs. The staff is very friendly and knowledgable. It is very easy to make an appointment and they are very accommodating. I would absolutely recommend this veterinary service to friends.
I dont know what I would have done without the kind, caring, competent doctors and staff. They were so helpful.---GD
We drive 30 minutes, past several vet offices, to get to MRAH. The entire staff is AMAZING. They have taken such good care of us… well never go anywhere else in Nashville.
Murphy Road is the best animal hospital! We live in Franklin and make the 40 minute drive every doctors appointment because we only trust our dog with the best!
We go to MRAH for everything for our two dogs. They have great staff and excellent doctors who really care about our animals. We have had nothing but great experiences there.
I gave them 2 stars because they are great untill you figure out how much they are ripping you off. Shop around and dont accept thier excuses for high prices. Also, they try to sell you on some over priced package plan they know you wont use, just to get you to pay them monthly. And, if you decline they insult you. So why 2 stars at all? Some of the staff are nice people but beyond that this place is a rip off!
Ive been taking my dogs to Murphy Road for 6 months now. I have been very pleased with the level of attention Dr. Young gives my dogs and me and my 1 million questions. He always takes the time to explain everything in great detail, which makes me the nervous mom feel better. With 3 dogs, I always have questions and always seem to be headed to the vet for ACL injurys, shots and check ups. I have been to several vets in nashville as i have lived here for 12 years and i find the reception staff to be kind and caring, and the doctors as well.
Id give 4 out of 5 only because they def are pricier, but for the best guarantee of a healthy animal id say it is worth it. Ask for Dr Howell, shes fantastic, enthusiastic and funny.
Great place - we picked up 2 cats and a dog across the street at their shelter over the years and the care at the shelter and vet has been excellent. Highly recommend.
The post below is obviously done by a paranoid lunatic. I highly doubt you were judged by your career and if you have a problem with what you do thats on you. They have always taken great care of my pup and I trust them entirely.
I took my new puppy here this morning and I had such a good experience I had to write a review! The nurse and vet (Dr. Cassidy) were wonderful and so gentle and generous with the treats that my puppy received several shots and oral medications and never even noticed. I also got a very thorough speech on new puppy ownership and a huge folder full of helpful information. We left with a months supply of flea/tick/heartworm medication and some medication for a parasite found in her stool sample. For all of the treatment she got, I expected to walk out with a huge bill, but the prices were very reasonable and much less than I expected. I will definitely be taking my puppy here for her regular care!
My doggie and I have been patients of Murphy Road Animal Hospital since moving to Nashville in 2009 and would never consider anywhere else. When we lived 20 minutes away or five minutes away, our trust has always lied with MRAH for impeccable care and service. After being referred to them by a close family friend, we continue to refer people who are equally thrilled with their care. We couldnt recommend this practice enough!
I really wish I could rate it zero stars I had an emergency come up and needed t0 have my dog seen. After telling them my situation they agree to see me even after I told them my GPS stated I would arrive 3 minutes after closing time 3 dam minutes. So I drove and to arrive and to have someone tell me the vet had just left. How INCONSIDERATE and heartless after I cried on the phone worried about my dog for you guys to not even give me a call after you guys took my number I drove 35 min to see you guys. THANK YOU FOR BEING LIARS AND HEARTLESS. THANK YOU FOR NOTHING.
Weve gone to a lot of vets in town, and have had bad experiences, and reasonable care, but when one of our dogs was really sick, a good friend recommended Murphy Road Animal Hospital when the other place couldnt make a diagnosis. The staff was friendly, the doctors very knowledgeable, and the care excellent. They diagnosed the problem when no-one else could, and now my dog is doing GREAT!! Prices were reasonable, but not as expensive as some other places in town, especially that place in Green Hills.
Great service and incredibly caring staff and Doctors. I had lots of options closer to home but decided the drive was worth it for this great place.
We have been taking our dogs there for over 4 years now and we always feel like we are over charged. They perform services that are not needed or requested. If you do not agree with them on the service, they will guilt trip you into performing a service not requested. They have charged me and tried to send me home with extra pain pills for my dog after she was spayed, when I said they were not needed (we already had some from the other dog when she was spayed) Always have to wait 30-45 minutes to see a vet. They are always voted best in Nashville because they petition for positive votes. We just got an email to write a positive review and if we bring it in, we will get a free check up. Now we are looking in to switching vets, all they care about is the money. The vets are nice, but it is just too much of a business.
Worst experience ever. Filled out pet records online and over the phone. I get to the appointment staff doesnt even acknowledge anyone in the lobby. Then they asked my occupation on a form and were judgmental because I work in social media marketing which is weird a vet would need to know your career to begin with....my dogs started acting really weird in the office and panicking which they have never done at any vets place we have been to before. They didnt even put us into a room when they werent busy at all so I took my dogs outside but its near a busy road so I waited 30 minutes AFTER MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT and they still did not call us back in so I left. After leaving the office today they keep calling and flooding my inbox with voicemails that Im not even going to listen to because the whole experience was stressful enough. I wish they were that attentive when I was in the office. You all need new staff at the receptionist desk because they all act like they are out of it and cant answer simple questions a middle schooler would know... so I would never be comfortable entrusting my animals with you.
The vets office is usually a pretty stressful place for Izzie (my pup) and I. The staff was great and very friendly (despite Izzies constant barking). A special thank you to Dr. Graves and his vet tech - they were very knowledgeable and treated Izzie with respect. I couldnt have asked for a better experience. Thanks again!
The vets here are great, at least my experience has been positive, with both my dogs. BUT ... they are so very overpriced. They seem to charge about three times as much as other vets, and lets face it, the service they give isnt all that different. Sometimes the vets also seem to underestimate how much something is going to cost, and I feel like Im constantly being pressured to bring my dogs in more often than necessary (post cards and emails arent enough - they also text me more often than Id like), and they must make a fair amount by upselling their clients. It just gets old after a while. When telling me that my dog needs a behaviorist (yes, thats the same thing as a pet psychiatrist), I was told it would be $300.00. Thats AFTER they had me pay over $300 in blood tests, to which they wanted to add another $200 test.Oh, wait - that $300 for the behaviorist? No, it was really going to be $450, just for the first consult. Really, all I wanted was to find some medication for my over-anxious older dog. She was born with a strong prey instinct, its part of her breed, and we know we have to manage that. But no, no medication UNLESS I pay a minimum of $750, and THEN we can maybe talk about that. So frustrating - Ive talked with my dogs boarder and trainer, and I feel like I understand the problem because shes my pet and has lived with us for over a decade. I guess I feel a bit used at this point, but Im just going to cut my losses and move on to another vet that wont try to milk us dry.Bottom line, great vet care, but not a very affordable price. If you think your pet is so super special that they need to be in the care of one of the priciest vet practices in town, then youve found the place to fulfill your needs. But if you love your pets but also have to pay your rent or mortgage, find someone else.
Be prepared for a long wait when calling in for simple matters such as prescription refills. Expect to be treated poorly
We could not have asked for a more patient doctor or a more thorough exam. Thank you Dr. Bolles.
The doctors and staff are the best! They not only look after your pets but also the clients best interests.
My dog was a patient at Murphy Road his entire life. Great place all around.
I had to have my kitty put down on 12/10/14. I had to pay almost $500 for blood test, x-ray, and the put down. I truly believe that the first Dr that I saw that recommended the $350 blood test knew that the cat was dying even though we didnt know what from. I told her I didnt have the money for this but......anyway, the blood test showed some infection present even though we didnt know from what with just the blood test, so a male doc suggested a $160 x-ray. That showed several masses in her chest. He said if I wanted to know if it was cancer, I could pay another $100 to have the radiologist read the x-rays. Of course, I didnt care what was killing her and so I had her killed and put out of her misery. Im not happy with Murphy Road Animal Hospital even though they did send a lovely card with all the staff wrting notes of sympathy and signing their name.
Ive been taking my cat Hamish (HAY-mish) to Murphy Road Animal Hospital ever since I adopted him five years ago. Theyve always been nice and show a genuine concern and commitment to providing the best care for him.
This is the most ridiculously priced vet I have ever heard of. They told us they were going to show us how to clean our dogs ears and then charged us $40 to do so. The price to have your dog fixed is over double anywhere else that quoted us. Save your money and go elsewhere.
Prices are WAY too high:My dog needed an adenoma removed from the base of his tail. The vet who saw him quickly worked him in to his schedule for later that afternoon. Very fast and responsive service. The bill, however, is a different story. To set the context, we were referred to a veterinary ophthalmologist a few months back to have my dogs right eye removed due to a tumor. This sub-specialist was able to perform the enucleation surgery under general anesthesia, place a prosthetic eye, send the diseased eye off to pathology for analysis, and have a follow up appointment all for $1,600. The one payment, due at the time of surgery, covered all of that. The veterinarian at Murphy Road Animal Hospital was able to perform only the removal of the adenoma under light sedation (i.e. not general endotracheal intubation) for $1,350. This DID NOT include pathology (which we refused) or a follow up visit. This leaves me wondering why a sub-speciality surgeon is able to perform a much more complicated procedure involving the eye under general anesthesia, place a prosthetic eye, get pathologic analysis performed on the diseased eye, and see the patient in follow up for only $250 more than a general veterinarian can remove an easy-to-get-to adenoma from the base of a dogs tail without using general anesthesia, getting pathologic analysis, or seeing the patient in follow up.The staff has usually been very professional and courteous. And to be fair, the veterinarians are very smart and courteous as well - thus no complaints from this end.I feel taken advantage of on the price.
If you go here and find it acceptable, then you are a stupid yuppie. If you have not gone here yet and dont want to be a stupid yuppie, dont go here.
I was cat sitting for my neighbor and the cat had a diabetic event. Rushed to MRAH and in 30 min. they did a blood glucose test and put the cat on a glucose drip. The bill was over $700. For a blood test and a glucose drip! They left me in the farthest exam room with a tech standing guard outside the door who said I couldnt leave wo paying. They held me hostage until I forked over the $700. This was the craziest and most ridiculous experience I have ever had with a pet service. Stay away.
Great hospital, great staff, and reasonable prices for what my dog needed. Will return
Great service and staff.
Wonderful hospital with wonderful doctors.
