This is my first apartment. I was nervous, anxious and clueless. I contacted shorebird back in January 2021 and I moved in February. The lady I spoke to Angelina ( the Apartment Manager at the front desk) she was super kind to me. She made me feel right at home and very much welcomed. Any time there was a problem, when I came to her she sold it. The complex is very nice. I have nice neighbors, everyone seems to keep to themselves. I recommend shorebird for those who would like to be in a calm complex that comes with a great hospitality.
I have been working to help our son find an apartment to reside in while he attends school. As we live out of state, this has not been an easy task. After calling multiple properties, and finding many of them to show little interest in helping us with our inquiry, I found the staff at Shorebird to be fantastic. The two women Ive dealt with - Angelina and Charlotte - have been terrific. First, they were patient and kind in answering all my questions. Second, they provided all the details in writing, so we could actually view the documents before we signed them or paid any fees. Each cost was clear and concise, and the qualification guidelines were straightforward. This is very appreciated, as other communities were not simply indifferent, but impatient, rude, and vague. In one instance, I was asking a question about being a cosigner for our son, and the woman had the gall to say she could not talk to me, as our son had been the one to apply. Yet, she would not approve our son without a cosigner. Hmmm, so, you want a cosigner, but you wont talk to the cosigner? After asking how on earth this is supposed to work, the woman became even more rude, and even hung up on me. Wow. So, in finding Angelina and Charlotte, we feel excited to have a great place for our son to live. Well provide a follow up review after our son moves in, but we are off to a very nice start.FOLLOW UP review. We got our son moved in, and everything was just as we hoped. There were no unhappy surprises. The community is clean and quiet, the apartment was fresh and clean, and our son was able to move in with no issues. Meeting Charlotte and Angelina was great. They really were very helpful and professional.
Very rude. I just called asking about rent prices and it was like pulling teeth to get the prices. She asked who is all living there and I said myself but my boyfriend and I will be on the lease. She had a very rude tone of voice saying “why would he be on the lease if he isn’t living there? That doesn’t make sense” He’s helping me pay rent because rent is so high......so he will be financially responsible for half the rent and he will not be living with me for our personal reasons and views.......very rude staff. I will not consider moving there
UPDATE: So here I am with an update I no longer have anything in my apartment the office handled everything well and did their best and made sure I was a priority everything else is good and if I need any assistance with anything they are there to help and the maintenance people are fast and efficient they don’t barge into your place they ask for permission to enter the area is quite so everything is good this way.CONS: New to Arizona the apartment was not what expected definitely does not look like the pictures online. Furnished apartment was not checked or cleaned the couches and bed had bed bugs and I have bites all over me so keep in mind the furniture was not new. Where I am from it is illegal to even let people stay in used mattresses in furnished apartments. The ladies in the office did handle the situation QUICKLY so I will give them that they were really nice and helpful. I won’t be renewing my lease though I just wanted to give my honest opinion.PROS: The area so far is quite no loud neighbors. The upkeep is good no trash all over the building. The free WiFi is good. Ladies in office are nice and helpful.
Called to inquire about renting a apartment here . Seems like a great deal but the lady who answered seemed not interested and just rude .
Been here for almost 3 years now. The place is very great. The front office is very caring, helped me out with everything I needed. The maintenance people have responded quickly and resolved any problems I had with my aparment. Free wifi is always great! Overall I enjoy staying here and am happy for my experience here!
I moved into Shorebird Apartments two years ago. Despite being in Mesa right next to the 60, the area is actually very quiet ( barring the occasional loud neighbor). The staff at the main office were always so kind and warm to me. Any issue that occurred was handled promptly and professionally. While it is true that no apartment is ever 100% perfect, the staff there genuinely puts a great deal of effort into provide a good and comfortable place to live, which is my reasoning behind the high rating. The grounds are kept clean, including the onsite laundry room and pool area. I never once had a pest problem of any kind, unlike some other complexes in Mesa. Any time there was a maintenance issue, my call was always answered immediately and while a within the hour response was promised, my response was almost always there between 15-20 min. I hope this has been helpful to anyone looking to rent here.
I dont recommend living here1. Someone was murdered and their body was left for 2 months in the apartment. Look it up if you dont believe me.2. Loud area. Ex: Vehicle maintenance in the parking lot and animals barking inside apartments.3. One morning, someone had left a sign on the front area of the apartments that said tweakers get smashed here. That tells you what type of place this is.4. They try to withhold your security deposit
When I toured this property in July I was greeted with kindness and the utmost respect! have been at this wonderful community since November and still feel the exact same kindness from the staff no matter who I deal with! The office staff is always extremely professional and timely! Maintenance requests are handled expertly and with same-day service! I allow them permission to enter, so when I submit a request in the morning it is fixed by the time I come home and nothing else in my apartment is disturbed. The manager has always taken care of any issue that I have come across and makes me feel like my voice is actually being heard! The housekeeper always offers a warm smile and a friendly hello each and every morning! The leasing specialists are extremely helpful and show that they really love their job and care about the community! The community itself though not in the best area is gorgeous and feels as safe as any higher class neighborhood! The grounds are well kept by the maintenance teams and the facilities are clean and spotless every time I go to use them! The apartments have a great set up and really make your home flow nicely. Almost all of my neighbors are polite and courteous when it comes to noise control and quiet hours. I think the management company is the backbone to this property and is why they function like a well oiled machine. If you are considering the property I would act fast because they are very popular not only for students (like myself) but also any ages. It makes for a very close knit community. Older residents really take you under their wing and make it feel like a family rather than just an apartment complex. Living at Shorebird has been the best rental experience and I am excited to renew my lease.
Parents of students and students beware! Disclaimer: I do not live in this complex. However, just one weekend with my sibling who lives in this complex was enough to leave an impression. My sibling is here for school and home is 2000 miles away. It makes me nervous seeing the environment in which he lives. So parents considering putting your kids in this complex while they attend school, please be aware it’s sketchy. The price point makes for an interesting mix of clientele. The apartment itself is fine, it suits the needs of a college student. Equivalent to a dorm I would say. The grounds seemed to be well kept. However, I was very disappointed with the security and leniency of this complex. It does not feel safe. We went down to the pool for an afternoon and there was a group of belligerently drunk guys (older men, not students) cursing very loudly and smoking pot in broad daylight. One of the men in this group was belligerent and harassing and cursing at other patrons. I’m not a prude but come on. There were at least half a dozen young children at the pool at this time. All of this also happened during staffed hours and not once did I see anyone come check on the pool area. Maybe it would be wise for the complex to re-evaluate their drug and alcohol policy in the pool area before someone gets hurt!
This was my first apartment and it was sooo huge compared to where I am now. So chill and nice minus the horrible neighbor I had for a bit.
Shorebird staff are very supportive and efficient. The Manager really cares about her residents and it shows. Nice recreational tennis, basketball and tennis courts very well maintained property.
I enjoyed my stay here. Very quiet and laid back. They throw little parties and raffles on holidays. Quick to help fix apartment issues. Furnished with cute setup. Right off of freeway and next to stores and restaurants. Neighbors are friendly and are always eager to say hi.
I’ve been here for a few months now and I’ve had no issues. It’s a quiet area. The staff is kind and the maintenance supervisor is on top of his game! It’s a great place to live especially if it’s your first time renting.
The apartment complex is a quiet place with good people living there. Ive never felt guarded or concerned. After 2 years, Ive still not seen bugs/roaches. Staff handles problems and work orders in a timely fashion.
Front Office staff switching constantly but always very friendly. Maintenance is professional and upon putting in a request always done in a timely manner whether im home or at work. No laundry facilities inside the units but however love they give you a choice to swipe a card at your convience in the laundry facility on site when you use it. Sports courts are still very nice and used quite a frequently. Fitness could get a bigger spot with more equipment security may be needed to watch for things at night time and making notes of lights out. Other than that have enjoyed my stay here the last few years.
I lived there 6+ years. Staff was very good. Apartments had old style a/c. No central thermostat. Pool, jacuzzi and laundry room were kept clean and neat. Had some very noisy neighbors at time. Overall a good experience.
It wasnt bad when I first moved in, but has gotten increasingly worse over the past few months. The biggest problem is the lack of security. On multiple occasions, there were homeless people digging through the garbage or living behind a dumpster. Besides that, I have had several other issues. The no pets policy is apparently optional now, because someone in the next building has a dog. Many of the residents are students at a nearby music school, so they play one song (presumably one they created) on repeat for days on end. Calling the office with a noise complaint is less effective than just banging on the wall. Pest control only comes once a week, so if you find a bug on Wednesday night you have to wait a whole week until someone comes to spray- and thats if they remember to come by then. The interior of the apartment is about what you would expect for the cost, but unfortunately so is the rest of the complex and the service. Anyone with a decent car will take up more than one spot because they feel they are entitled to. After one of the managers and the repairman (who had both been on staff for years) left, things have been going steadily downhill. Unless this is truly the only place you can afford, would not recommend.
If you are looking for a small, reasonably priced apartment to move into Shorebird is about as reasonable as one can get. Best for one person or a couple on a modest budget. Not 100% the absolute best especially if you have larger needs, but decent for a first-time-renter.
Ive lived at the Shorebird for several years, seeing people move in and out under varying circumstances. This complex is a nice place to live. The grounds are regularly well-tended, the staff and (most of) the residents are friendly and personable. Especially at the lease rates for the floorspace, the Shorebird is a good place to live.
I called maintenance directly - - - because office personnel were busy with other tenants - - - and maintenance was in my apartment attending to my problem when the office manager called to arrange for the maintenance to be done, which was already in progress (in less than 5 mintutes!). Absolutely first rate attention to a grateful tenants needs!
The office staff is nice, the grounds are always well kept, and the younger maintenance man is terrific. The apartments are well priced for the space.
Ive lived here in a second floor unit for the last two years. Its been nice, the complex is quiet, no crime in the complex, the staff are nice and attentive. I would recommend them to anyone seeking an affordable, simple, nice place to live.
Everyone who works here is so great! They truly care about making life here easy and happy. Thank you!!
I moved in to a furnished one bedroom..the carpet was full of cigarette burns..the bathroom had hair painted over on the bathroom walls..and i was supposed to have free cable..its been three months and several attempts going to the office and not getting the problem solved..this place is not very well managed..they will tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign a lease then they forget about you...neighbors are nice..quiet place..but my over all impression kind of sucks.
I have lived here for 7 months. My husbands school suggested that we should move here, but its not the safest place. The internet SUCKS, and you cant do anything about it. The neighbors are kind of sketchy, but everyone is super nice. Its affordable rent but run down. 2 people were murdered this year at this complex and the nearby complexes are super sketchy too. You cant really use the gym because half of the equipment is broken and doesnt open til 9 am. So all in all? I wouldnt live here longer than 7 months, maybe less if I could. But the people are really nice.
Lived there for a year in a second floor apartment, never really had any problems. No pests, no major maintenance issues, and the front desk staff were very nice. Some neighbors were loud and/or obnoxious, but it more or less comes with apartment living. Would definitely recommend for those in the area.
The management is very considerate and friendly. The apartment is clean, nice, well kept, conveniently located, and is very affordable, I definitely recommend them.
Great place to live and conveniently located to everything. The staff is courteous, friendly and always very helpful.
This complex is pretty cheap compared to others in the area. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the size of the apartments. I lived in a 1 bedroom, but it was roughly 550 square feet, about the size of a studio apartment. Also, the fact that the unit didnt come equipped with a washer and dryer was an inconvenience. The complex only provided one laundry facility. At times the complex could be noisy (mostly on weekends) due to several music producers and instrumentalists who attended a nearby music school residing there. But my apartment came pre-furnished, which was a plus since I had relocated from another state. Even with the slightly higher rental rate for a pre-furnished unit, the apartment was still affordable. The office and maintenance staff were friendly and prompt when it came to maintenance issues. Overall I enjoyed my stay.
The apartment complex was well maintained and clean; maintenance requests were always taken care of promptly and the staff was professional and friendly!
It would be great if the grass in my area was watered better
Other than my neighbor calling the police on me my first week moving in... Than turning around an asking the office if they could evict me since she called the police on me for loud music (mind you its was barely 9 probably 8 almost 9) not because its to loud but because shes sensitive to noise 😒 other than that i LOVE my new place it literally feels like home 🏡 an the office ppl are so nice an understanding... An other than my one neighbor that hates me for NO REASON at alll im totally happy here 🙏
I love living at the Shorebird Apts and all the staff who work here are amazing, especially Brittany. I havent had a single issue since moving into the Shorebird back in April!
So far I have lived here for 7 months and I am looking forward to my lease being up. Within the first month I moved here my car was broken into and all the police did was take a report. The rent is fairly priced for the area. I am living in the Studio apartment which is very out dated and my apartment does not have a dish washer. The kitchen sink and sink in the bathroom were both clogged when I moved in. The managers are nice and very accommodating. If you are moving to the area and need a place to stay this is a good place to get your feet wet with the area however, I recommend you utilize a short term lease and utilize that time to find another location to live.Positives- Close to highway, gas, food, entertainment, Rent is decentNegatives- Shady part of town, Apartments are in fair condition but the pipes are bad, Walls between apartments do not have any sound deadening material. The walls on the exterior are though.
It is a very quiet place to live I am very comfortable I recommend it
Disappointed in this community. No gas in any grills on the property, the free wifi does not work, had to purchase my own. Had to call police on multiple occasions from other neighbors becoming violent with each other. Maintenance is ONE guy who is clearly overworked. Takes days to have any maintenance issue remedied with a band aid.Just recieced a letter on my door for pool floats being on my porch. The first issue is that my porch is one of the CLEANEST porches in the complex, not to mention decorated to try and pick up for the mud pits around my door that the apt has failed to landscape.Second issue is today is September 1st. The note was dated as August 30 for a ten day intent to terminate if the pool floats arent picked up. Wheres the professionalism?Location is good, but there are plenty of other apartments available. DONT choose Shorebird if you are looking for a decent community.
Lots of resident here smoke. They sit outside their apartments and smoke day and mostly, night. It fills the air with cigarette smoke that drifts into your windows. So I had to keep them closed. The AC units are very old and noisy. They kind of cool the apartment but not like newer AC unites would. Dont really like the neighborhood that much, seems sketchy. Shopping isnt that good nearby although there is a Walmart close. The gym has ancient equipment in it from the 1980s. Their free wifi is terrible so you have to buy your own, about $50 a month. They blow leaves from the ground every week early in the morning in the Fall for about 4 hours...so forget sleeping past 9am if you work late. They could blow the leaves on the weekend but they dont. The biggest problem I have though is the cigarette smoking here. Its everywhere.
The maintenance staff is extremely efficient and professional.
Staff always accommundating.Grounds meticulously maintained.
Great place for students! Comfortable and affordable!
I lived here for 2 years on the second floor and its been good. I like that its super quiet and people around are eager to say hi. My studio apartment is a bit small but the location is great since its close to everything. The staff is super nice and really good at taking care of things. You do get limited wifi on your unit but its metered up to 15 gb which is not meant for you to watch youtube. other than that its a great place to stay!
Most enjoyable and met greatl friends .
Thank you Charolette for creating a inviting environment and a great place to live! !!!!
Some sketchy neighbors, slow free Wi-Fi (but it is free) but other than that, we had a great experience!
I have lived at Shorebird for 11 months and will be leaving at year end, when my project ends. I have never had any issues at this complex and Ive never felt scared to be in my apartment or out in the parking lot at night. Maintenance is on the job ASAP when a problem is reported. The grounds are beautiful and would be even better if people would not cut trails across across the grass. The staff is friendly and professional. I had one minor noise issue and that was resolved by the next day; I am a very light sleeper, if there was noise around, Id have known it. Also, water, basic cable and wi-fi are provided. The wi-fi is as slow as you can expect shared wi-fi to be, thats a given. My only fly in the ointment is that, although basic cable is provided, if you are in a furnished unit you cant upgrade your cable/internet. If I were staying in the area, Id renew my lease (It went up $1 for my original lease), albeit to an unfurnished for the cable issue. If you want a comfortable and safe place to stay, this would be my suggestion.
Edit: Only one complaint: there is no recycling. Dumpsters and close and convenient, but if youre a treehugger like me then you will have to take your recycling elsewhere to avoid throwing it in the trash.Good place to live, the entire staff is friendly. The neighbors are quiet, mostly college kids and old people. No drug smells, cigarette butts or loud screaming when youre outside. The rent is fantastic for the size and location of the apartments, and its great being close to the freeway without being on the main road, so theres no late night traffic noise.Only slight mis-advertisement they have is the free WiFi. Its limited broadband, so forget gaming or Netflix unless you want to use all your broadband in one week. I understand that you can upgrade to a personal router for a $100 deposit and then $30/month. Not cheap, but not unreasonable.Bottom line, great place to live, great staff, just dont get too excited about the free WiFi if youre an internet junkie.
Small older apartments, but I have not had any issues so far.
I have lived here for 16 years the rent is reasonable the Office and Maintenance personal are very good there has been some problems in the past but now it is a nice place to live close to shopping and freeway, the one problem is their laundry room has real old crappy machines that are always broke down or leaking plus they dont have a machine to buy water I think the washers and dryers were brought over here on the Mayflower
Wonderful place to live
Customer service people schedule you for visit then you get a call from office saying that nothing is available. It means they dont have their propertys information in front.
