I received the worst manicure of my life here. I waited 30 mins past my appointment time and was seated at the same chair as the client before me. Nothing was cleaned or sanitized. The nail tech was rushed when working on my nails to the point that I was in pain and cut up. The manicure looked sloppy and my nails were uneven. At home not even two hours after my service my manicure chipped and peeled off of two nails. I wish I could give this place zero stars.
They were so nice and flexible with the designs I wanted!!! Looks exactly the same as the picture I showed them. 10/10 highly recommend!!!
My daughter and I both walked in and got right in for dip manicure and a gel polish. Well done! I would be a regular if I didn’t live far away. Highly recommend. Clean, friendly and quality work.
I absoulutley love this place and the staff. This is the first ever place I have gotten Acrylics done. Both times I have LOVED the way they turn out. The staff is friendly and nice, they talk to you and make conversation while you are in there. They have VERY reasonable prices. I went with one friend twice and we took another friend this previous time who doesnt have too much for nails as she bites them. She got acrylics as well and loves them. Theyre short but they can def work with any types of nails. I am going to continue to go there because of the staff and their prices. The salon is clean and polished always. They are taking care of it well. I have attached 3 pictures to show the work. The maroon and gold nails were the first time I went. And the pink and blue sparkled ones are my recent nails. The pic with 3 hands was mine and my two friends. As you can see, 3 very different lengths but they do an awesome job.
Came here to get my dip nails and tips taken off.Other than using the nail drill and soaking them off, she took the tip of a plastic nail and ripped them off. Leaving my nails brittle and sore. She then said it would cost $15 and I want to make cuticles done so for her to barely trim I had to pay $30 just for her to take them off and slightly push back my cuticle. She painted them nicely though. But my nails hurt and are bending and after her ripping them off once split down the middle. Will not be returning. Would’ve given zero stars if it was an option.
I asked for flames drawn on and they look like a little kid drew them and were very messy. Not $65 worth at all and overall very unhappy with my time there. I asked for her to go over the flames and she refused. I’d advise you to only get a solid color!
I really enjoyed my manicure at Shine. I walked in Friday night and was able to get started immediately, once I picked my color which took me a while because there was a decent selection to choice from. The manicurist did excellent work removing my old shellac and then did wonders with giving me a fresh new manicure. I felt the staff was very professional and everything seemed clean and well organized. I will absolutely be returning for more manicures because those are my favorite little self care treats.
+4 for location, +5 for nails, +1 - 1.5 for customer serviceSet a reservation for dip nail extension, and waited ~30 minutes when I got there on time. Not a big deal... but please don’t be rude to me about it when I ask for an approximate time update.Receptionist gave me wrong information about dip a few times and had me walking around the salon to find colors. Male nail technician was a bit rude and told me they don’t provide services for something I literally reserved for. The female technician told me they do what I asked for, and I told her the male tech told me they didn’t. Communication is lacking and I was confused, tired, and felt misled. The female tech (when she finally got to me) was extremely pleasant and did a BEAUTIFUL job on my nails. I would 100% come back for the nails. My advice to management: work on customer service at the front desk. If you are short with the customers and take a rude tone with us, it sullies the experience. Align on all services and information provided to clients. Will come back for the nails. Definitely a place where I’ll sit quietly and leave as soon as possible.
Great dip manicure! Tina removed my tips, took off the dip I came in with, and gave me a great dip manicure all in 45 minutes. She also applied tips to 3 nails that weren’t quite as long as my other nails. I asked her to keep my nails looking natural with a rounded/oval shape and I got exactly what I asked for. They also had a huge selection of dip colors to choose from. The place is clean and calming - my new go-to for sure!
Literally the BEST pedicure I have ever had- and I’ve had a hundred. Granted I was the only customer as a walk in- but I felt like I was at a luxury spa with the treatment I got. Gel French pedicure complete with killer massage, paraffin treatment!
I like the end product. The pedicure lady was super nice, the lady that did my finger nails rushed through it. For shellac pedicure they charged me $50. For my finger nails they charged $60 which I Know its over priced. I know a place that charges $45 for what I got done on my hands. This was my second time visiting. Similar to other nail salons as far as vibe. Meaning depending on your skin color will determine how you are talked to. Its obvious.
Was super fun and enjoyable.
The first time I was here, a lovely woman gave me a gel pedi/mani. It was relaxing, beautiful and long lasting. I suggested to a friend that we go yesterday before our sushi date. We booked appointments 24 hours in advance and each had men to perform our service. I was SO embarrassed I suggested this to my friend. The process was highly rushed, there was no massage, very little sloughing, my nails were clipped unevenly...and after we sat under the drying light for 30 minutes, one man came over to tell us we were done. The second we tried to put our socks on, both our big toes smeared. They rapidly put another swipe of polish on and told us to wear our flip-flops to dinner (on a blistery March day). I am wearing closed toed shoes today, as my big toe looks like it was painted by my fiance. Part of the nail is missing any polish at all, and the the rest is a giant smudge (no, I did not walk into a wall on the way to sushi). If I had time, I would go back and ask them to fix it (again). Instead, Ill be removing this myself. Should not have tipped, will not return.
Do not bother going. I went to get a mani/pedi with a friend. There were obvious issues with maintaining sanitation. My gel mani peeled off after 5 days. My friend got regular polish and they were diluting the nail polish. Not worth spending your money at this establishment.
Pedicure was awesome. I recommend the older man (with thick hair) he took his time in my cuticles and gave a great calf massage. it’s worth mentioning that if you don’t specify, they will do the pedicure with the paraffin wax and hot stone (as opposed to the basic pedi) which is a little more expensive. it feels great though, treat yourself!
I am very sad to say that when I first went here my mom got an infection on her finger. We have it a second chance, because we love the location, and on our second visit my finger bled during my manicure and then I ended up with a severe infection on my pinky after my manicure. I am guessing their process is not done in a sanitary way or with enough care and attention to prevent injury. Super bummed. We really wanted to like this place but I would definitely stay away because of risk of infection.
I had a great experience!! The staff was super nice and helpful. The owner did my nails really well and I loved talking to her. Very friendly, and did a really good job on my acrylic nails. I am definitely returning. The prices were also not bad. I called different places, and they had similar prices
This salon was super clean and pretty. They also had wine which was nice. She did a good job but she seemed like she was in a rush. Over all at least she did not take forever.
I dont get manicures often and this was my first time going to this nail salon. I walked in without an appointment and they seated me immediately. I got a Gel manicure and i would say it was done fairly quickly. The manicurist did a very good job. Ill definitely go back.
This place is the best!! I have never been in the habit of getting regular manicures or pedicures, but I got both done here the week before my wedding. Since then, Ive been coming back once a month for a pedicure because this place is really that good. For starters, all the staff members are super friendly and accommodating, and are consistently thorough in their work. I highly recommend this place!!
I love this salon. Its first come first serve and they always have people here! But they move super fast! I love my nails! They asked me what I wanted and I got just that ! Talk about efficient ! I will be back !
I love this spa because their work is great, I feel like they are all a staple to girls day. I feel very comfortable coming here to get my nails done, and I can even laugh and joke around with the owners. Always so pleasant to be pampered here.
Beautiful nails, inaccurate prices displayed
I wouldnt go back to this place. I got a pedicure. Bad things: It was not a very relaxing atmosphere, you are crammed in next to the stranger next to you. The man I had was kind of rough, and was very rushed. I think he did a god job though, until I went over to the area to dry the nails, and he did not explain to me where to position my feet, so the nails did not dry enough. After a bit, he said I could put on my socks and leave. I touched one nail to be sure, and it smudged. I went to find him and he all but rolled his eyes at me, had me sit down, and just painted over the nail and told me to go. He should have removed all the polish and started over, it was just one toe. THEN, we went to pay, and the man at the counter all but yelled NO when I pulled out my credit card and points to the ATM. I did not want to be charged ATM fees, especially when they are trying to avoid paying income tax on my service. The ATM gave me an error the first time, which I know was not their fault, but at that point I was just ready to leave. I ended up going to Target and buying a bottle of polish and redid some of it at home.Good things: The massaging chair was fun, lots of colors to choose from, bright windows.
This was my first time here. The staff was pleasant, I didnt have to wait even though I was a walk-in, and she did a beautiful job on my nails. Will definitely go back!
Definitely the best nail salon.Great place to get your nails done. The quality of their work is amazing and they always make sure you leave satisfied. The environment of the nail shop is very warming and open.
Seriously not impressed. Everything is an extra charge. Shellac manicure $30. A little nail compound to fix a tear in the nail before doing the shellac $10. That is insane. My friend go purple with some sparkles the sparkles cost her an extra $10. Not even 1 day after my nail polish is full of bubbles, (see photo.. Hard to show in the photo due to the light color polish and horrible phone camera). Not impressed at all with this place. Save your money go elsewhere.
Painful pedicure! When they cut my nails they cut them so short they were practically bleeding. Every time they would file it was my skin they were filing! I do not have sensitive feet either! ouch! I had shellac on my toes and instead of filing and wrapping the shellac they just tore the shellac off my nails! Double ouch! I won’t be returning.Side note: they offer alcoholic beverages... take it! You are going to need it after you’ve waited 30-45 minutes beyond your scheduled appt and still need to get through the pain of your pedicure!
They really know their stuff! I recommend you to try
No regrets whatsoever with them. They are so friendly and eager to please! They are very clean and their tools are autoclaved which means sterilized. I still havent thought about trying anywhere else. And ít is a modern PLACE.
This was an Awsome experience. I love my nails. It lasted so long
Depends on who you get for a gel manicure. Ive also had a hard time understanding them on the phone to make an appointment. Ive rushed there thinking they said they could fit me in, but when I show up, they dont have any space for me. I feel like this place could be better managed considering their great location and salon space.
The woman who gave me my pedicure seemed like she was in a hurry, was very rough. Some of the experience was quite painful between her scraping tender parts of my foot and pinching my toes while she was painting them. I didn’t complain at the time, but I should have, because when I took my shoes off last night I noticed that she actually gouged my toe. That explained why it was so tender. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is that the place was very clean, the wax felt amazing on my feet, and my sister enjoyed her manicure. The service I received was quite bad though, and I am disappointed to see that they have a no refund policy. I will certainly not be returning.
They did a great job, I was a last minute walk-in and the nail salon exceeded my expectations.
I got a pedicure here about six months ago. My appointment was with a man who worked quickly and was polite. Aspects of the pedi were relaxing (leg massage especially) but the polish was not applied well and still wasnt dry after sitting with my feet under a blower for more than 30 minutes. When I tried to leave, my feet were smudged so he reapplied polish on a couple toes and put me back under the blower. Two other women had the exact same experience while I sat there. I dont think Ill go back, unless Im able to get an appointment with the owner, who people praise in reviews.
I have been here a couple of times, and my honest view is that it is hit-or-miss. There is one woman (I believe she is the owner) who is AMAZING - Im always thrilled with my nails and they last FOREVER when she does them - but with the other nail techs, Ive been disappointed. With gels, everyone but the owner floods the cuticle which makes the gels start to peel up right away. My nails grow fast, so thats a bit of a problem for me. However, the prices are reasonable, everyone is friendly and its a nice atmosphere. If you go, just ask for someone who has been there for a while, not someone who is obviously new, and itll be a pleasant experiene.
I got acrylics w/ gel polish when I went here. The lady who did my nails went super quick and ended up cutting my skin a few times. I got a coffin shape and gel polish. My nails ended up looking pretty good, from afar. Up close, you could tell that the skin around my nails was super irritated, and the underside of my nails needed to be filed down, as there was still a ton of hardened acrylic chunks. My friend got an almond shape and her shaping was horrible and she also had a ton of acyrilic chunks underneath. For days afterwards there was a weird dried glue substance that started peeling off the underside of my nails, something Ive honestly never experienced before with acrylics. On top of all of this, the price is outrageous. I recommend VIP Nails on S. Park Street. The pricing is amazing, the nail techs are skilled and focused, and the environment is super relaxed and friendly. Also, it seems like they pay for/post fake 5 star reviews to boost their Google rating. A lot of the pictures attached to 5 star reviews are stolen from random instagrams or taken from sketchy websites.
I’ve gotten gel acrylics done here once before without issue, and came back thinking I’d get the same quality service. My tech was different this time and seemed to be rushing through the process. He buffed the skin around my nails multiple times, making me bleed. He didn’t let the gel cure long enough because when he wiped them down after the paint on one of my nails got smudged. Not even 6 hours later and the gel began peeling off in nearly all of my nails.I was getting my nails done before a big trip and will now have to get them redone during the trip because the gel keeps lifting. Im really upset and this only added more stress on to an already stressful time preparing for my trip.I must have had the owner folks have been mentioning as my tech the first time, because I had no issues at all. I wish I could have chosen to have her again.
Dont bother making an appointment because they will make you wait anyways. They made me wait 35 minutes after my appointment time and then my friend had to wait even longer so she ended up not even getting services. They werent even apologetic--just kept saying oh we will take you soon.I have a baby and it was my one hour of mommy time away to get pampered and turned into a stressful time crunched event. There were also 4 other people that said they had appointments at the same time we made them and I had even called ahead of time to make ours. They wouldnt give us a clear estimate of wait time so we ended up waiting to go to Bowl of Heaven until after the nails since I didnt want to lose my spot after all of that.I have to say I had been there before a long time ago when it was very slow in the winter and the people were much nicer. The lady that did my nails seemed annoyed that we were impatient (rightfully so we were!) My nails look decent, although she was going to skip the 3rd coat --since it was a light color you could still see the line from where my previous polish was removed so I told her it didnt look good and had to request the 3rd coat. It seemed like she was rushing us since we didnt have much time, but that was due to them being late. She slapped a little lotion on at the end and my hands were still dry so I used the lotion pump myself to get more--she skipped the massage completely too( which in my opinion is the best part)....oh and they dont do paraffin wax and still after all of that charge $35 for gel. I wont be going back here...I usually go to Happy Nails (for $40 with massage and paraffin) and only went here to get a 2 for 1 with a healthy lunch from BOH across the way. Not a relaxing mommy getaway at all! Glad my nails are done because who knows when I will have time do get them done again, but it was a very disappointing experience.
My new favorite place to get my nails done in Madison. Friendly and polite staff who respect their customers. Pedicure looked great!
I had a great experience here!! The owner was so friendly. I had a very bad experience elsewhere before and I explained what I did not like about my nails. She not only listened and did a complete make over on them but did it with a smile even if I was a bit picky! They also have great prices. The salon is very clean and appeasing to the eye as well! Ill never go anywhere else in Madison!
Awesome! Only place where the shellac does not peel off of my nails. My new favorite place in Madison, probably will not go anywhere else from now on. Highly recommend.
Not a relaxing experience like most pedicures. The water was just warm, process was very quick, my nails were oddly shaped and the lady scratched me with her ring while applying lotion to which she started laughing about? I was only impressed by the product lines which is why I rated two stars vs. one. Not recommend.
Had to wait 45 minutes after our scheduled appointment time to even sit down. Then we were left alone for an extended amount of time with no one working on our nails. It was absurd. Then the quality of our nails was terrible. I would recommend no one to go there
I’ve been coming every 2-3 weeks all year. Very friendly owner & staff. They just got several shelves of new gel colors about a month ago, very lovely and finally different shades and stuff. I had bubbles once and they fixed them for me. You just have to be a nice person about asking them what they can do to help - another girl put lotion on that changed her nail color and came in yelling at the staff demanding a free manicure to fix it.Much cleaner and neater nail salon than many other businesses around town. Prices are more than fair given the effort put into services, cleanliness (tools and pedicure chairs are very thoroughly cleaned), and getting new colors and treatments. I don’t understand people that leave bad reviews because they ask for a cash tip (most nail places, hair, bars prefer this too) or you have to wait when you have a large group or come in st the busiest time and want to get started immediately.
My gel manicure lasted 3 weeks without chipping! I had to take it off because of out growth. They almost didnt accept my tip because it wasnt cash, though.
I had an appointment for a mani/pedi. Pedi was average at best. And they skipped over me a few times for my mani. A couple that came at least 10 mins after me finished their mani/pedi before I was ever asked to be seated for the mani. I ended up leaving without the mani because I had been waiting for 40 mins after my pedi was finished. Disappointing.
I’ve been getting my nails done every 2 weeks for 5+ years and this was the worst I’ve ever had. I just moved, so I’m still looking for a good spot. All my nails have small air bubbles under them, they’re uneven, and just gross. Just a heads up for future customers!
Great place for nails, reasonably priced, they offer the dip powder. FYI they only take tips in cash.
My daughter got her nails done and was taken advantage of. They charged her $50 when they told her it was only $35... never ever will I recommend them to anyone ever again
Love this place! Been seeing Tina and her crew for many years!
Absolutely horrible customer service. My nails were completely messed up by someone who didn’t know how to do what I asked for and had to be redone by another person. The entire thing took double the amount of time it should have and was still charged full price. Will not be returning.
I love that I can always get in with very little wait and the prices are excellent. They also don’t rush through the service like some salons do.
Just went in today at 6:30 to get a pedicure! Peter was awesome and the service was great. The only reason Im not giving it a 5 is because when I got home and took off my shoes my nail polish was rubbed off from not being completely dry, even though he said they were. A little disappointed and upset.
The first time I went to this place, I loved it since the owner herself took care of me and the place was empty. Tonight I went again since my regular place didnt have any available appointments and I needed my nails done asap. I was serviced by this young Vietnamese man called John, who was clearly unexperienced (1 month in the nail business according to him), and painted my nails very thick making them look fake. When complained, he was rude and responded with an attitude telling me that if I didnt like them, then I should go somewhere else. Nails were poorly done and painted, I even have to tell him how to file them. I paid (regretably), but I am certainly not going back and I am leaving a 1 star review to save others a headache (my nails mean a lot to me). If you ever decide to go to this place, make sure to ask for a technician with mastery in what they are doing, customer service skills, but most of all manners. He treated me like I was nothing, and I clearly said: You cost your boss a bi-weekly paying customer. Never going back to this place. My toes were also poorly done, I can certainly paint them better myself. 1 star.
Not good! Tools were not sealed, my poor skin around my nails - she hacked away at it. I had to go home and put neosporin around all of my nails to keep from getting infected. The polish job was also not good. Very clumpy gel finish with globs of filed nail in the polish. One of the worst manicures I’ve ever had.
Terrible experience I was there for almost two hours for just their basic pedu. Terrible customer experience
Any service provided by the owner, Tina, is AMAZING! Others are all hit or miss. Her gel manicures last forever!
Very friendly, does excellent work, fabulous pedicure! Highly recommend!
I had an appointment scheduled and it still took them 40 minutes to have someone help me. The pedicure was good, but the manicure looks terrible.
Did a good job on my mani, but they were not welcoming, there was no music playing, and they were rude to my friend and I while we were there. I’m not picky when it comes to customer service but this was not someplace I would come back to because of it.
Customer Service awful. Front desk/receptionist rude and not qualified to take calls and make appointments.
Dishonest people, bought furniture to furnish their salon, but paid with a bad check. Contacted them many times, keep promising to pay but never did. People that steal from others should not be supported. Dont do any business with them, bad, bad people
The shop was busy with a line outside my entire time there, but things seemed to run pretty efficiently .I Just a little confusing because they have so many workers and stations but overall I had a great experience and will be coming back again!
Awful customer service. The lady who did my manicure was rude and she did a sloppy job
Got my acrylics taken off and they charged $15 for literally having us sit there for an hour with our nails soaking in acetone. My moms acrylics weren’t even fully taken off but we were on a time restraint. They also didn’t put any strengthening polish on our nails like most shops do. So overpriced and not even worth the money.
I got dip & all they did was file my nails, then put 2 coats of dip on when the other places I have been put more than that. I spent $45, and not impressed with how they turned out. Disappointment & will not be going there again.
Personable and great prices :)
Very well done, friendly staff and very clean.
The worse place. They dont use professional polish and not clean. I went in to have them take off my nails and their response was, too busy come another day and there were maybe 2 people there. Horrible experiences twice with them. Warning, do not go!!!
Poorly done. Worst pedicure Ive had in a long time.
Nails chipped 1 day after receiving.
Very detailed
Good I asked
