Ive been going here for years for hair, nail, manicure, and sometimes waxing services. All the staff I have worked with are skilled, welcoming, and give great service. Im incredibly picky about the shape of my nails, specific flips of my hair, and its difficult for me to find services where Im not fiddling with my hair or that one weird edge on my nails afterwards. And I have never had that problem with any service at Rockabettys.

Went in for a pedicure and full set with dip acrylic, the pedicure was just fine and the ladies were very nice, but I’ve never had my nails done so badly in my life. This was my first experience with the dip acrylic so I’m not sure what was actually supposed to happen, but when it wasn’t setting properly first she tried to pile more and more acrylic on top, and when that didn’t work resorted to putting a coat of gel polish on top to hide the mess. The result was nails that were lumpy and uneven and both gel and acrylic all over my skin, you could even see straight through the color on a few of the nails. I tried a few times to ask for them to be thinned out and for some of the lumps to be smoothed out, but they just kept getting worse, and after over two hours (not including the pedicure) all I wanted was to get out of there. I feel bad because I know the girl doing my nails was getting frustrated as well, but I left and immediately went to a different salon to get them removed where the employees were shocked at the state of my nails

I have been going to this salon for years for a reason. The owner, Angie, is super kind and fun which makes every haircut an enjoyable experience. This salon always does everything possible to serve the needs of clients. The salon has taken AMAZING precautions due to the pandemic to ensure clients are safe and comfortable. I really appreciate how thoughtful this salon is and I encourage everyone to support this important south Madison business!

Looking to book a Brazilian wax I came across this salon, so I am reading their reviews and the owners responses and I can say I would never book here even if I did buy a groupon and paid a fraction of the price. The way this company replies to their clients shows the respect and appreciation they have for them. A lot of people buy Groupons to try a new place and then if they are impressed become a lifetime customer. I’d recommend deleting all your replies and if you don’t have anything professional to say, don’t say anything at all, because you just lost another possible customer with that. Just some friendly advice. No one wants to spend their hard earned money at a place like this.

I got an awesome cut from Amber a couple months ago. She cut my flat, boring, straight hair into a perfect style for me--busy mom, no time to do anything in the morning. My new bangs and layers looked awesome walking out the door and even better in the days afterward. It didnt hurt that the price I paid was very affordable!A couple weeks ago I went back to Amber to get my bangs trimmed and get some highlights, too. Also a great experience, also very competitive compared to what I would pay elsewhere. The reason Im writing this review now is because a complete stranger just commented on my haircut and asked me where I got it cut. Thats never happened to me before. I happily handed her the Rockabettys business card and told her Amber cut my hair.Reading through the reviews, and noticing how they are such a mixed bag, I feel like some people just get what Rockabettys is (a funky underdog upstart of a salon with some great talent and a great vibe) Those of us who get it love it for that.Other people dont get it at all. They see the word salon and spa and expect an high-end experience from start to finish. Its not that. Thats why its still affordable! Its funky, its fun, but its also got great talent and its going places, and Im going to stick around and watch it grow.

No one showed up for my appointment. I received a text message and an email the day before reminding me. I sat in the rain for 15 minutes, went back to my car for a while, then checked back 10 minutes later. I was suppose to get a hair wash and cut for a job interview. The appointment was at 10:30, interview at noon. I tried calling several phone numbers and there was no response.I ended up going to Walgreens for a brush, some ties and pins, and went to my interview with rain soaked, frizzy, bangs to my nose, unwashed hair.I got a voicemail at 11:50 saying Hey, I was late for work and must have missed you. Call and we can reschedule. You were an hour and a half late and no, Im never going back.

The salon itself is not very welcoming. The girl that did my pedicure was very kind. The one that did my manicure, not as much. She seemed to be in a hurry. While doing the manicure she made two on my fingers bleed. It honestly seemed like she hadnt even been trained how to use the Dremel. When I scheduled the appointment I mentioned a couple times I was not from the area. I arrived early to ensure I wouldnt be late. I appreciate that Gretchen jumped in, but honestly I expected to wait until my scheduled time. When I scheduled my appointment over the phone I was never asked if I currently had a no chip manicure applied. Maybe that should be part of you scheduling process if it throws off the timing so much.

I used Angie for my wedding hair and makeup in 2010. It was fantastic. She hit what I wanted spot on; and I didnt even have a clear picture of what I wanted. My hair lasted all day and looked great. My makeup was awesome and also lasted throughout the day. I have used her services since then and solely so for my hair. I have naturally curly hair and have had dozens of bad experiences with getting it styled in my life. I am very picky and every time she does a great job with cut, color, and style. Her business is a small business run by one local woman. I dont expect it to be a cost cutters or an overly inflated salon; I expect it to be like many of the local businesses around Madison--a little off-beat and unique. Thats why I like living here. I would definitely recommend her services to others.

I really enjoyed my experience at Rockabetty Salon for a shellac manicure. I bit my nails and committed to quitting - so a shellac was the way to go. The owner was very pleasant, non-judgmental and we chatted the entire time about the salon and how to take care of my nails. Its very vintage, and I understand that isnt for everyone - so expect older chairs, tables, decor, but understand that everything is very clean and the atmosphere extremely laid-back and friendly. I also felt the prices are very competitive. I will be back.If you are looking for a very trendy, high-end salon - this isnt the place that would come to mind. This place reminds me of taking a step back in time. I want to stress that I enjoyed the atmosphere - the Johnny Cash and Wanda Jackson music, as well as the vintage decor and the professionals in the room.

Yay, Rockabettys! I love this place. Its very cool to go somewhere that feels real and original. Ive been to other places that pride themselves in being austere and snooty and Ive never felt comfortable there. Pretentious salons are a dime a dozen, but believe me, there is only one Rockabettys. Oh, and good luck finding better deals. My favorite part about Rockabettys, though, is the personalities. Im just a dude getting my hair cut, but elsewhere I sit silently or awkwardly making small talk. Here I find myself entertained and laughing. The girls are quirky and funny and seem to like working here and engaging with the customers.I did feel the old location was a bit tight, but the new location is very spacious. The decor is peculiar in a way I totally love. The owner is always finding cool new additions like antique chandeliers and vintage salon gear, along with the occasional framed holographic poodle picture. Yep.These are talented people who know their trade and how to get the best results, even finding inventive new techniques like the famous Betty Buffer which you just have to see to believe. A very different kind of place, and a true gem. Ive been coming here exclusively for 4 years. Rock on, Rockabettys!

I ADORE Rockabettys! I discovered them while looking for makeup and hair services for myself and my wedding party. They were affordable, incredibly nice and everyone looked AMAZING. Ive been back for regular nail and facial services since, and Angie and her team are outstanding. I always get compliments on my nails after theyve been done, and her facials are to die for. Not only do you get the facial treatment, but you also get a paraffin treatment on your hands and a neck/shoulder massage. It would easily cost twice as much anywhere else. And I have had facials in the past and not had much success, but with Angie I noticed the difference in my skin after my very first one. She did a terrific job! There are a few who seem to have negative thoughts, but I can honestly say Ive used Rockabettys for almost everything - makeup, hair, nails and facials - and have had an great experience every single time. I did not review Rockabettys salon prior to booking. I should have. I booked a pedicure on line--very easy to do even for a senior. The pedicure was ok. Not the worse I have experienced, but below average. The best part was the polish application which was great! The salon is filthy. Not just dirt. It puts into question any and all sanitary practices. A note to the owner would be to sit in the salon and view its condition through the eyes of someone who does not know you or any of your staff. A first impression. The decor is not the issue--I do not mean to offend you. I have been a small business owner for over 30 years(not in cosmotology) and I would observe my office at least every other month through the eyes of a new first time visit. It can be very very telling.

This business has been nothing but rude and nasty to me. They have consistently provided poor service. In 2016 they burned my hair with poor bleaching techniques and I had to pay $200 at another salon to get it fixed. But this review is about a recent situation. Recently I got a Groupon to get my nails done, and completely due to my oversight of a small area on the Groupon website where I missed the fine print of the Groupon, i was not able to use the $40 Groupon I had purchased.I didn’t know this until I booked my appointment a month after I bought the Groupon, when I received a very angry call from one of the employees saying I booked with appointment with the Groupon and I wasn’t allowed to use it because I was a customer once, 2 years ago.I kindly called Groupon to ask for their help and see if they would gift me a coupon exchange or my money back. They told me it was up to the merchant. So I decided to politely ask this salon if I would be able to use the money I paid to Groupon towards another service. I was willing to pay the difference in prices, given that I could use a portion of the money I had already paid their business through Groupon. I paid $40 for the Groupon and wanted to get a manicure, and would be happy to pay the extra $20 to make up the difference. What I got in return was a painfully condescending, accusatory response from the business, saying I purposely overlooked the fine print and was trying to get a service from them by cheating the system.I am thoroughly saddened and appalled by their unprofessionalism and immature emotional behavior. This is one of the messages she sent to me after I asked about why I couldn’t use the money I paid them:“You didn’t buy it from Rockabetty’s you bought it from Groupon. This heavily discounted deal comes with restrictions that people choose not to read or make up their own rules for. It’s half off for you and we don’t get that amount you pay, we get a tiny amount from Groupon. This is enough to barely cover costs. It’s enough to offer ONCE....people still try and work the system buying 2 or more Groupons then asking us to honor it anyway. That they had no idea. Why not return in our special? That we don’t lose our shirts on?Our policy on this is everywhere. Front desk sign, your email appointment confirmation, on the scheduling app, right on the Groupon site, and more places yet people still say they had no idea they couldn’t buy one than one?Do you go to the grocery store with a peanut butter coupon and demand they let you use it for jelly?I buy Groupons too, but I always read the rules first to make sure I’m eligible.”This is completely unprofessional to speak to a customer this way. They may get requests for money back often, but that doesn’t mean they should take out their frustration on every customer who asks.I did not ask for something for free, only to use the money I had already paid for. Their denial to provide me the services I paid for is considered fraud and highly unacceptable. I highly discourage people from seeking service at this establishment.

I was really looking forward to my shellac manicure, after reading positive reviews online and browsing the salons website. Wow. I was really surprised at how shoddy it was. My nails were quickly filed, the cuticles pushed back and polish applied. What about buffing, dealing with hangnails, asking me washing my hands to get them clean, etc? Ok, I dont need a hand massage but what about some lotion? I also hate to say this, but the salon was not very clean. The towels on the manicure table were very dirty and Im pretty sure they hadnt been changed from the customer before me. It was uncomfortable. The woman doing my nails looked like shed just rolled out of bed! Her hair was messily tied back in a ponytail and it was super greasy. Isnt this a hair salon? Her nails were chewed down and unsightly. She also seemed to be sweating a lot. The whole experience was very strange to me. Ive been going to Angie exclusively for my hair care for well over a year now, and followed her over to Rockabettys. After an awesome hair trial resulting in booking her for the wedding, I also booked her for a hair cut to try things out and havent looked back.Up until that point, anytime I went to get my hair cut, it didnt matter who I went to or what I asked for, they always gave me the exact same thing. I had tried a lot of different places over the years with little to no success in finding someone I was happy with enough to go back. Then I met Angie! She absolutely nailed what I had been looking for with the first hair cut, and she is a joy to work with. It was with her I finally felt brave enough to try coloring my hair, and once again, all I did was bring in a couple sample photos of colors I liked and let her play. As with my hair cut, she nailed the color. It was exactly what I was looking for and my hair looks fantastic! I always feel like a million bucks after an appointment with her, get tons of compliments and have recommended her to my friends.Ive never had a bad experience with her, and in fact feel like I gained a friend as much as a stylist. I regularly get manicures and pedicures, and I thought the nail tech at Rockabettys did an awesome job. The pedicure especially was really top notch. The decor and atmosphere of the salon is vintage/rockabilly style, which is cute and fun in a punk-rock way. Unfortunately the space is really small, which makes it feel cramped, so much so that it takes away from some of the pampering experience. I had thick blonde virgin hair. I had my hair dyed here and cut. I got a groupon + the extra cost of getting toner/tip/color for this for myself on my birthday because I thought it would be cool to do something different. I only did the bottom half of my scalp and I wanted a purple-silver color. My hair is blonde already, so I was not attempting to do the insane in one trip. However, I ended up with grey hair that is literally falling out in gobs. I have been taking biotin, using coconut oil, washing my hair 1 time a week tops in hope of helping my hair (which was virgin hair). I was told I would have to do a bleach and then the silver color, however I was not warned at all about the detrimental effect this would have on my hair. I told Kristina that I had never done anything like this but she did not give me any warning. I have cried looking at the horrible mess of my hair. I cant even brush it without pieces coming out. I liked the salon, but the bleach was left on way too long. The portion of my hair that she started on is the worst as it held the bleach for at least 30 min to an hour than the rest of my hair. When it dries, it is hard and breaks off upon touch. I wish that there was more of a conscious effort to pay attention to all my hair because the portion that she started first is in a lot worse shape than the rest. In addition, the supposed to be silver/purple color is not even all the way to the base of my head. It is splotchy and uneven.***EDIT*** Was told to email because leaving a negative review is bad and never even received a response. Update: Will have to cut off all the hair that cost me ~$200 to get because it is so horribly damaged.

Above all, the other stylist and the owner went out of their way to accommodate my 3 year old who wasn’t even feeling well. I kid you not..they shared their Cheeze Crackers with her and literally accepted that I do not just give my child to anyone...even for a hairdo. The decor is different-but it really for me comess down to the end result and how I was treated through the process. A friend warned me to avoid Rockabettys, and I should have listened to her. I have never been to Rockabettys, but as Im looking for a new salon, I bought 2 Groupons -- one for a haircut & style and one for a pedicure -- to try out their services. I have done the same thing with other salons without a problem. I find that using Groupons is a great way to test a business for how they will treat their customers. When I tried to make an appointment, I was told they WOULD NOT HONOR my Groupons because those are for new customers only. Again, I AM a new customer, I have never set foot in their door. When I pointed this out, they still refused to let me use both. When I asked the man who had answered the phone if he was really telling me that I was just out the money for one of the Groupons (it was too late to return it), he told me that I could give it away. First off, I dont know anyone who would want it. Second, that doesnt put the money back in my pocket.More importantly, there is nothing in the Groupons fine print that says one Groupon per visit or one Groupon per customer. When I pointed that out, he essentially said oh well. This is appalling customer service. Not only the refusal to honor the Groupon, but the utter lack of concern on the part of the store employee. I should have listened to my friend in the first place and avoided Rockabettys, then I wouldnt have lost money on them. I recommend others avoid them as well.

I got a classic pedi and a shellac mani today. The salon was comfortable and clean, the technician was friendly, knowledgeable, and detail oriented, and my nails look great! I live an hour away, but would definitely go again. Thanks, Vellette!

I discovered Rockabettys Salon & Spa when my fiancé purchased a GroupOn for me. Angie gave me the BEST shellac manicure and spa pedicure I have ever had. Ive gone to multiple salons for shellac and not been impressed because it always started to peel after only a few days when they promise at least two weeks. Whenever I inquired about this, the salon would say ..Everyones nail beds are different and yours may just be more oily than normal.. So, that was really frustrating and I just gave up. Until Angie. That sander machine means business and apparently that is what it took for the shellac to really adhere to my nails. My shellac manicures last for three (3!!!) weeks now without even a slight hint of peeling or chipping. The space is a little bit cramped which takes away from the spa atmosphere, but it didnt really bother me since I have finally found a salon where I can get an awesome manicure!Combined with their awesome prices and great personalities, I give Rockabettys 5 GOLD stars!! :)

I am very sorry to say this place was FILTHY and I was incredibly disappointed with my experience there. I got a Shellac manicure, a pedicure and a facial using a Groupon. Reading other reviews that say it is just an old timey store - maybe it used to be that way, but that is not the case anymore. I never go to fancy spas or spend a lot of money on these things - Im not interested in the perfect beautiful spa experience. But this place was the grossest public facility I have ever seen. Seriously.I cant describe how dirty and messy this place was. Not just disorganized - which it was (piles of paperwork everywhere, food and drink containers laying around, supplies stored in grocery bags piled all over the floor) - it was also just plain dirty. Sticky gooey stuff on counters, dust and grime and dirt on surfaces, random gross stuff dripped down bottles and all over things. The container they used to hold manicure equipment was filled with a cleaner solution that looked like it hadnt been changed in forever, and the instruments werent cleaned before putting in this jar - they just went in with my bits of skin and cuticle, and I seriously doubt they were cleaned between clients. Even the container looked dirty. For the facial they put you on a massage table and tell you to get between the blankets - but the blankets arent changed in between clients!! They did a facial right before me while I was getting my pedicure, and then they brought me immediately in after her and didnt change the blankets or anything, just the towel my head would lay on. And there were gross stains/spots on the blankets! Needless to say I didnt get in between them like she told me to and just laid on top of it.Im not usually grossed out very easily at all but this place was just plain disgusting. And they were very unprofessional - one girl gave a couple a pedicure, and after they paid and walked out she turned around and announced to the whole store that she was Stiffed again! on her tip. And the manager (who was working on me at the time) heard her and said Oh and you worked so hard too. She didnt seem at all surprised that her employee was bad talking clients in front of me. And the manager was wearing gross old clothes and told me it was pajama day, which could have been a cute idea except that her pajamas were just old dirty looking clothes.I cant express strongly enough how gross this place is.And yes, the pedicure bench is super uncomfortable and sucks - just a wood bench with pillows on it that is way too high so your feet barely touch the water.

My first experience was a haircut. I had to wait 30 minutes for a so-so haircut.Second experience, I misread the Groupon terms and accidently bought a Groupon for a nail service. Owner emailed me telling me I couldnt use the Groupon, but did offer me a discount. I found her tone to be less than friendly. Since it was my first nail service at her salon, it would have been wise for her to be more welcoming for the difference in about $10 for the service. I would have tipped heavily and possibly would have become a permanent customer as the location of the salon is very convenient.

Very disappointing experience. While the staff are nice and friendly, (minus the owner), they are more interested in being 20 year olds than taking care of their clients. I dig retro decor...it looked more like grandmas house meets frat house. It was messy, dirty, torn towels, the walls and ceilings looked like someone was painting while under the influence. My manicurist was in PJs and smelled like she hadnt showered. I also got a spray tan...and that pushed me over the edge. I waited in a lil black tent in a closet for 10-15 minutes cold and shivering waiting for the girl to come in, while I heard them all laughing and carrying on outside. What I didnt realize is that the tent was in full view of those seated along the wall. So when the door opened and the girl came in everyone in the room could see me naked waiting to be sprayed.I was mortified. The girl was nice but the tan was uneven and orangey. I asked to speak with the manager and was told that she was busy and didnt have time to speak with me. I saw her in the back room texting. After I had my experience and saw the reviews, I wish I had read them before. Based on the owners responses I can only imagine she doesnt deal with or believe or care about her clients experiences. Customer service or quality are not Rockabettys strong suit. Like many millennial today...this coach and team thinks they should get a participation trophy for showing up...not actually doing good work or being professional. If your thinking about going...JUST DONT.

Rockabettys ad is very misleading. What they consider quaint and nostalgic, I saw as messy and totally unorganized. My daughter and I both bought a groupon and went in together on 9/19 to have a pedicure. They were disorganized when we got there like theyd never done a pedicure before. As for lounging back on their pillowed bench, it was a wood bench with some pillows that was so high, that my feet barely reached the soak bowl. Ive had many pedicures before, but none like this. I then had to try to balance my feet on a makeshift stool that kept sliding as its use was not intentionally for this purpose. As another review stated, the staff appeared to take no pride in their appearance, and looked like they just rolled out of bed. They used packing noodles instead of normal toe separators. Instead of the normal cuticle removal, she ground my cuticles off with what looked like a drill bit. She said it wouldnt hurt, but I beg to differ. Their ad also states you get a massage, but after both girls worked to get what little was left out of two different bottles of empty lotion, she rubbed it on my legs and called it good. Then instead of using a normal foot file, they used sand paper out of a box that was for a hand palm sander from the hardware store! A client came in asking about using her groupon and owner stated appointments can only be made online, as they have no receptionist. I dont know why she couldnt log on to her computer and make the appointment for her. After the client left, the two workers talked bad about her in front of us. After the polish was finally applied, they told my daughter and I it would take about 2 hours to dry (Ive never had polish take 2 hours to dry) and they sent us out the door very awkwardly. Well at least 3 hours later, my daughters nails smudged. We thought about going back, but after finally looking at the Google reviews, it didnt look like that would do any good. Very, Very disappointing and then, I dont know why (I guess Im just a good person) I tipped them. Stupid me!

I dont generally write online reviews, however, after reading the 2 poor reviews that were given to Angie/Rockabettys salon on this page, I felt compelled to offer my opinion. I suppose nowadays anyone can (anonymously) provide a horrible review for someone and their opinion is expected to be valued. I, for one, do not value anyones opinion who feels the need to hide online while publicly attempting to destroy someones reputation. If you dont like the place, just dont go back…there are plenty of us that are waiting to go back again and again for our appointments.I met Angie almost a year ago after discovering her bridal hair company online. I scheduled a haircut with her and after we met, I knew that I could trust her with the important job of handling my bridal partys hair. She was exactly the down to earth, upbeat, extremely talented person that I was looking for. She did an incredible job the day of my wedding and we were all happy!I have been going to Angie for my haircuts and color since that time…I cant say enough positive things about her. After my first cut I commented that this was the first time Id been to a stylist when they actually listened to how I liked my hair done….it was the first time I didnt go home and redo my newly done hair. Angie takes her time, listens to you, works her magic and honestly CARES what you think!! She is one of the most hard-working and ambitious people I have ever met. I was thrilled for her when she opened her new salon (and frankly would follow her anywhere!)…I cant imagine how difficult it is to start a business. Every time I see her, the time and effort she is putting into improving her salon is evident...and she asks for feedback because she wants to continue to improve. When I am getting my hair done, I get 100% of her time and attention and she makes me feel welcome….despite how tired I know she must be. Its fun chatting with her and I always leave happy!!Angie is an amazing, amazing stylist!! I highly recommend her!!!

I am a salon veteran. I am a girl whose hair is my livlihood. I typically frequent Anaala, Posha, and Cinema salons in Madison. I like to change it up for the select stylists strengths and abilities. Needing only a brightening as I like to call it (highlights) I found a groupon for Rockabetty. Their website looked great, their stylists looked qualified, and the price was right. I should have done my research to the salons location. Located in a very dodgy area of Park street I felt really unsafe. The Copps grocery store next door was a magnet for the homeless and shady characters. It was very sad and unsettling. This has nothing to do with the salon itself but customers, young women, should consider coming with a buddy and not book appointments late at night. Upon entering the salon, it wasnt that busy... but there was no place to sit as every seat was occupied. I was offered a beverage but had to make it myself. The stylists all were very sweet and had smiles. They were personable and easy to speak to. Mine, particularly had a lot of personality and was a pleasure to speak to. The decor and atmosphere could use a lot of work. Their online pin-up concept fell flat. It looked cheap and unkempt. The nail salon portion, however, did boast some really nice spa/pedicure chairs. I had a picture for the highlights I wanted and we began. I knew something wasnt quite right with my foils when she kept checking them and placing me back under a very dated, cold, hair dryer. I also should note that I, personally, believe when a stylist looks at the outcome in the shampoo bowl and realizes she needs to mix up toner that she knows shes made a mistake. Toning is done to eliminate brassy tones. Highlights, should never be brassy. Especially when my hair was ash colored and did not have full color on board. Ive only ever needed to be toned twice prior to this highlighting experience and both times my highlights were poor and unacceptable. Ive had my hair highlighted every three months since I was 13. Im well into my thirties now. I was toned and my worry set in. I also noticed that products from Sally Beauty Supply were on the shelves. Im pretty sure that my deep conditioning treatment was a hair mask from Sally. Im accustomed to Redken Shots. If Im paying for a luxury service, its a little disappointing to know that I could have just taken it off a shelf and done it myself. When I saw my wet hair in the mirror, it was orange. I freaked. The last time my hair turned orange I was in college and used boxed bleach. My highlights looked NOTHING like the picture and NOTHING like the usual highlights Ive had in the past. My bangs were gold/orange. I kept thinking, relax, wait until its blown dry. It was and it got worse. I had ash roots and gold/orange head. I looked like Slim Shady and that girl from the Pauly Shore movie Son in Law (Google it) had a baby and that baby was me. Realizing I got what I paid for, and I wasnt going to be able to have this fixed, I paid, left, and went to my regular salon to make an appointment. The girls faces at my salon! It looked like theyd seen a ghost. I got lots of oh nos yikes and eeee that wasnt processed long enough. I did get a ribbing about being lead astray by a groupon and I have totally learned my lesson. My orange/yellow hair was fixed so I wont have to wear a hat. I am not exaggerating the extent of the orange... my husband called me Garfield. My color finally looks like the picture but it cost me a bomb to correct...I really, really, really hate to leave a negative review for a small business, especially one fronted by women with delicious personalities. In truth, I did not give them the opportunity to correct this, but I felt that with it occurring in the first place, I wanted to return to my regular tried and true to feel and look my best.

From the street view, Rockabettys is a bit of an eye sore; I wasnt sure I was walking up to the correct location. The inside of the place, though, is adorable! And with the friendly staff and great services, who cares what it looks like?!? I bought a Groupon for a shellac mani and spa pedi both performed by Kristina. She has such a vibrant personality, and it was really fun to work with her!If you really cant get over the appearance, they are moving their business down the street this summer (to the Wingra Creek plaza next to Copps, I believe). Get your Groupon before its too late, and check this place out!

I am shocked by all the negative reviews. This is a great small shop owned by Angie, who is amazing. I have gotten two pedicures, a shellac manicure, a haircut and a facial. I have also used 2 Groupons here without any issue. The website is easy to schedule appointments and I have never had an issue not being able to get in touch with someone. I have had a great experience every time - the shop is very vintage and homey, which I really enjoy. The gals working are personable and fun and they have great funky colors to choose from for mani/pedis. I love the shellac and will continue to have those done. I also had an amazing facial - where else can you get a facial done that includes some massage and a paraffin hand wax also? the products smelled great and are natural. As someone who has had many of these kinds of services done over the years, I will continue to be a regular at Rockabettys. Plus their prices are absolutely fantastic for the professional service that you receive.

After purchasing a Groupon for Rockabettys I was excited to have a relaxing pedicure with my mother. It was anything but! My first impressions of the salon were that it was very cramped, cluttered, and dirty looking. I found myself questioning if the supplies for my pedicure were going to be clean & sanitary. Whom, I assumed was to be the manager and the girl doing my pedicure looked unprofessional and sloppy. Her roots were obviously growing out and her hair was pulled back into a greasy ponytail. Since it claims she lives upstairs, I can assume she literally rolled out of bed. For a beauty salon I would expect a little more. For pedicures you sit on a bench, which at 54 I was unable to touch the bottom of the spa bowl where my feet soaked. I had to stretch forward and balance on my tip-toes, which isnt very comfortable. For the actual pedicure I had to place my feet on some contraption that the girl doing my pedicure had to balance so it didnt slide around. The majority of the supplies were near gone like the lotion and top coat, plus other supplies were some cheap alternative like packing peanuts instead of toe separators or sandpaper instead of foot buffers. These things all worked of coarse, but made me as a customer feel not very valued. The actual pedicure was not satisfactory. My nails were filed uneven and the polish was also not evenly applied. There was no drying time and we were awkwardly sent off. Over two hours later my nail polish completely smudged. I thought about going back, but I dont know what difference that would make since during my pedicure the two girls gossiped about another customer that had came in for a pedicure touch-up. I have had many pedicures and have never had one take more than two hours to dry. This sent me over the edge. Im very disappointed in all services provided (or not provided) and will not be returning to Rockabettys!!

Rockabettys salon is not your typical salon. The area is yeah not the best place in town, but the service is great. I was skeptical at first, but being that i had a Groupon I figured what the heck. It was THE best shellac I had. Ever.First off those who are complaining on yelp and Google about not soaking their nails, you should know that it is not recommended to do this with shellac. You literally want to dehydrate your nail as much as possible to ensure you get the longest lasting results. Those complaining about their methods, if it works then why waste money on other things. Toe separators, really people? As many people get scheduled here, who cares what they use. It separates toes. Period. Those complaining about sanitation, They use alcohol all the time. The tools are soaked in the greenish bluish stuff. I dont see the problem, however thats just my experience. Ive been there three times already and it has only gotten better. The equipment isnt that of lets say a top notch, pricey salon...but it gets the job done and WELL. My nails have actually improved since going to Rockabettys for shellac. Previous salons used what looked like a potato peeled to remove my polish, damaging my nails. They didnt even let them soak for longer then 5 minutes to remove well. Rockabettys did this and more. If I noticed a flaw, Angela was quick to fix it without question. I cant speak for the other employees, but Im sure they have their own styles and methods. I personally asked for her as I am picky who I let do my services--I like to stick with the same person.Yes the owner lives upstairs, and hell if i lived up above my job, id come down in what ever I wanted to. Who cares what she is wearing or if her roots are done. This lady is crazy busy and running a business. Give her a min. Someones appearance does not ultimately ruin your experience.Angela scheduled me on a day the salon was even closed. She offered me a deal when I was disappointed it closed on Groupon. She is fair and honest. And she knows what she is doing. If I had one compliant, I suppose it would be to make sure all the polish is soaked/filed off my nails before beginning to polish (hence the 2/3 rating). However I know I love this place, so I will simply inform her of that next time. Sometimes things get overlooked, but thats life. Angela is very open to suggestions and will fix when noticed or when brought to her attention. If you are looking for a booshy, flashy salon with prices no one should afford, then this is not the place for you. If you have a complex about your shellac being slightly under your nails (called wrapping, makes it last longer) and on skin a bit, then find another spot. If you are looking for fair prices (even without Groupon), shellac that will last at least 11-15 days, honesty, good deals (even when they dont have to be honored!), and the best shellac in town, in my opinion...then this IS THE PLACE FOR YOU. Seriously, relax people. Let this woman build her business.
