Decent equipment with several options available. Good clean atmosphere with nice professionals upfront,, eager to help. Was able to workout with a variety of machines and weights without waiting.
Nice gym, nice personnel, but most of the elliptical equipment is old, showing rust, and the digital doesnt work properly. Maria the trainer I great and knows her field. She gave more details than my doctor about the cause of certain physical ailments.
Nice club. Not too busy. As an Autistic I was thrilled to be offered contactless check in after signing up online very easily, but I understood contactless to mean devoid of contact. It is not. Im sure the staff is nice but I just want to go in and workout without contact. There is much contact required.
Good atmosphere, friendly at the door. Not my home gym but I always like to get my workout in when traveling.. using equipment angled a bit different always utilizes unique stabilizer muscles.
Love this gym! Great equipment and layout. The staff is friendly and courteous.
When you enroll us and super well attended but to change something they dont understand our nesecity of what we need to pay 1 month and 2 weeks without using the personal because I asked for the cancellation and then I had to leave the gym to be able to cancel the personal trainer
BEWARE!. The staff needs some major training. They have kids running the training programs. Dont sign a PT or Group training contract here until you have read all the fine print and know your options. They promised one thing verbally and then renegged. They dont know the updated promotions on group training vs personal one on one there. They need a full overhaul and they need some serious training. The regional director Duke is unprofessional. He has no communication skills, no follow through, and definitely is not a man of his word. He never ever called us back with any updates on the issue we spoke to him about. Maria is the best trainer ever... too bad she is at this subpar facility. If you cant get your issue resolved with local staff and Duke, call corporate guest services. They assisted me with my issue right away!!!
WARNING!!! I urge you to go any place else!!! Just wanted a descent place to work out. They say you get free personal training session but you have to sign something and youll NEVER be able to cancel. Its so expensive for a lack luster program. Biggest waste of money. SCAMMERS
Front desk staff friendly and staff making sure area is sanitized.
Good people
Is very true what the other reviewer said about : NO AC ! just ceiling fans running and it gets really hot and humid in there . They are not really any significant changes for social distancing at all other than some arrows on the floor. They have not separated the machines or disabled any machines at all (to keep distance) I was working out on one machine then i had one person on each side of me working out. Also I was there for 1 hour today and didnt see any cleaning crew at all . The employees there seem pretty careless. This Gym needs more attention.
I think I have exited this gym for the last time. When you go in, you just scan your own card. So a lot of times, you won’t see a team member at the front desk. When there is someone at the front desk, they won’t acknowledge you coming in most of the time. The machines are old, and some of them do not function well. On the weekdays, there are less than 4 classes/day available in average. The TV sets are small and few. There are personal TV on treadmills and elliptical machines, although I have encountered a couple that didn’t work. There are better gyms available 2 miles away, and a brand new gym will be opening in a matter of days. They are not the only option, and I am not staying with them.
If there is ANY other gym that is more convenient to you than this one, go there. This place is so poorly mismanaged it’s almost laughable. The AC is out on average 4-6 days every other month, the equipment is old, outdated and in need of repair, and it seems like nobody cares. If there even is a manager for this store, they’re failing miserably at keeping this place on par with other LA Fitness locations. As soon as the Crunch across the street opens up, I will be one of the many members going there.
DONT WAIST YOUR TIME WITH CRUNCH ACROSS THE STREETI went there for 2 days and canceled my membership. This la is way better for a professional workout. More open with better equipment.
Awesome location. Clean and safe.
Nice gym. I love their spinning instructor, Misha. She has such a positive attitude and she is very encouraging. She makes her sessions a joy to attend, and she is very patient with beginners. Thank you!
Smaller LA Fitness but definitely can get the job done there with a bit of extra motivation around.
So at first I was hesitant to go to the gym but one day I decided and told myself you know what might as well I’m really looking to make changes. So I sat down with Denis, he explained everything throughly and we found the best option to get started. I’m very happy with the decision I made and I’m committed to being a long term member.
Great gym! Been coming here since I was 13. Very spacious, tons of equipment, usually not very crowded. Denis took great care of me & setting up my guest with a day pass.
I have been going to this Gym for 10 years and I will say this place was not maintained. The equipment is from when it use to be Life Styles and the A/C is always going out. This gym also isn’t following the proper safety and sanitation precautions for COVID like other gyms are. Do not sign up here. I was a lifestyle grandfathered over to a LA Fitness member which is now ESPORTA and this is what they are doing. They are saying $10 a month for ESPORTA for the single club membership. But I’ve been a single club member for 10 years paying $25 a month. They told me I would not be allowed to go down to $10 a month for the same membership, I wouldn’t be allowed to rejoin, and they aren’t going to inform anyone on this. That doesn’t seem right. I can’t believe I went to this gym for as long as I have. Thank god, Crunch is opening across the street soon. Save your money and don’t go here.
Very clean and friendly staff.
Very clean and friendly staff. This is an older facility so some of the equipment was awaiting repair but still very nice!
Dated and worn down but gets the job done. Like a lot of people have said not particularly clean. The Dunedin one is emaculant
This has been the worst cancellation process. The manager Jessica started by telling me it was, “above her pay grade”, to help me with the billing and cancellation issue I was having. After already sending the Cancellation letter weeks before, and going in the previous week to be told the manager is only in til 5, it’s been beyond a headache. In the end result all I got is an attitude from the manager and a corporate number. There should be an alternative option to cancel besides going in person, especially during the COVID months . Unexceptional and unprofessional.
I have been a member at the Hwy 54 location for over 10 years, the A/C always goes out during the summer, but its only January and the A/C is already broken, this place is a dump and they Never put any money into it. Cant wait until Crunch opens up across the street.Very unhappy long time customer.
This place can use a bit of up keeping, its an older gym. A lot of machines to choose from, the staff is nice, the people that go there are really cool, meet some good folks. Really nice atmosphere. Worth giving it a shot. In the afternoon it gets a bit packed with younger kids, from the local colleges or high school, but they keep to themselves.
Good gym, dont go into sign up they wont give you the best deal. You can find better deals online through their website. Has babysitting which cost $15 per kid, kids area is pretty plain with a few toys. Have really good classes that are included in membership. Club is clean and well kept, roof does leak when it rains.
Finally back open and accepting members in a social distancing manner. Place is pretty clean and is well stocked with hand sanitizer and equipment sanitizer. Hopefully there are no future closings due to covid.
Clean. Lots of equipment. Lots of room. Only issue is my friend that was with me needs a trainer. No help available. No trainers in either location we visited. I was shocked. This is the gym that sold the advantage of their professional training staff. We joined anyway. Ill try to help her as much as possible.
Dennis was super cool and really took care of me. I am a crunch fitness member in ohio and in town visiting and he was so awesome if I move here gonna join here.
Ive only been going in LA Fitness in this location twice and I really like it so far. They have all the machines or equipment I need to accomplish my weekly workout routines. Its clean and the staff are very friendly. Would recommend!
Oh my. I worked out for 3 weeks. I would be there for 2or 3 hours. I lost 115 lbs !!! Is is so great. U have a shower blow dryers, Sona an Privet dressing rooms. Lockers (bring your own lock ). They have all you need to get in shape. When you are traveling any where in USA you will find your L A Fitness. It is owned by two men. An they want you to feel comfortable as you travel. You can find your LA Fitness in most all big citys across USA.....
L A fitness is my new lease on life. I’m getting stronger, healthier, and my personal trainer is the BEST!!!
Ruben is rude AF. He is supposed to be their General Manager/Personal Trainer, he won’t be there long before he leaves or gets fired, but I won’t go there just on the basis that someone actually interviewed and hired that guy to work there. I signed up at Ufit, polite pleasant and no problems.
Great experience ! Came in as a guest and Dennis took care of me on a great new membership .
I must say this is an older gym, especially after going to the Dunedin location which is phenomenal however, they do have kids club on Sundays (not open at other locations) and during the week it is open till 1 p.m. (versus 12 p.m.) and 9 p.m. (versus 8 p.m.) at other locations. It makes it easier for moms to get their workout in. The cardio equipment does have TVs on each equipment which is nice but the gym overall is in need of an upgrade (equipment, flooring, bathrooms). The nicest area in the gym is the personal training area which I use at times because I never see a personal trainer on staff training someone at this location. Overall, if you need to get your 1.5 hours in several times a week and you have kids in tow, it works.
Everything is great only a couple old machines but fix your roof/pipes theres leaks all over
Denis is the best man around he really hooked it up.
Be very careful what you sign up for and what they charge you for. They upgraded us for a plan we didnt chose at a more expensive rate without our permission or our knowledge.
Too Crowded, plus nobody on the weight lifting machines (Bench press) has lifting etiquette. They hog the machines and never let you lift in. Its gotten so bad they need employees to stand there at peek hrs and regulate the machines. I have actually gotten in arguments over it. Who needs this. There are much better places to lift without the headache.
Tyler did a great job explaining the program. He was very helpful!
Denis took great care of me, gave me a great deal, best environment, if you want good results this is the place to go
Dennis took great care of me and gave me a great membership dea
Very great place to workout. Clean showers and locker areas staff are very helpful too
Some equipment needs work.. I would have joined this gym if the staff was more inviting..
Dirty gym Staff dont care to fix the problems, they just their to make the money. Sauna always dirty. Wifi never a steady signal, always goes in and out. It will close when Crunch opens.
Been here for more than 10yrs from the days of being Golds Gym, to Family Fitness and now LA Fitness. Not very many upgrades since being in its current location. Could use some upgrades in equipment but still gets the job done. Majority of equipment is the same from Golds Gym days 10yrs ago.
Nice place, few ammenities compared to other L.A. Fitness gyms. Haven t put in anything new since it was Lifestyles, but still has everything needed for all fitness levels.
I give this gym 2 stars(not 1) because I think the gym equipment is good and the cardio machines are abundant. The reason for the poor review is the management. I dont like to leave poor reviews as a general rule, but this situation warrants the need. Michelle is an unpleasant and rigid face to deal with and it does not matter how long you have been a member there or how many times she has seen you. I am not sure she has ever smiled a day in her life, or maybe she does when an upset or annoyed customer gives up trying to approach her. She has frustrated and upset my sons, myself and I have spoken to other gym members who have experienced her unpleasantness.I will not elaborate on the multiple issues that have occurred and prompted this critical review but enough is enough and I must state my opinion: it is unfortunate this person is seen as one of the first faces when you enter the gym. She is enough to make me consider going elsewhere with my business.A final comment on the new policy they have at this gym of strictly prohibiting gym bags on the floor- this may be a corporate rule, as this management will tell you, but I have NEVER BEEN IN A GYM WHERE THIS POLICY IS SO ENFORCED. Another manager approached us recently during a workout and told us we had to lock up our bags or LEAVE immediately! I offered to let them check my bag if that was a concern? Many other customers and people who are serious about their workouts carry gym bags- I have my belt, gloves, straps, a towel, workout schedule and wallet in that bag! What is the world coming to when places like this spend energy on policies that are so restrictive and unreasonable?
Ask for Denis when you come in! He’ll get you the best deal and provide you with high quality service!
My favorite location of all LA Fitness gyms!! The Zumba instructors are phenomenal!!
Clean equipment. Dennis was very helpful in getting us temporary guest pass!
Wonderful variety of equipment & classes. Great teachers
Great staff. Denis helped us get situated.
Great fitness location with excellent updated machinery
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! DO NOT even bother walking into this gym. The manager doesnt care about clients and the sales people are a JOKE. Guess what LA Fitness you arent the only gym in town! Good luck staying open with your exceptional customer service!
Needs an update like their Van Dyke location and an update to their equipment. Gyms these days have turned into social clubs instead of being there to achieve fitness goals.
We love this LA Fitness. Friendly staff excellent machine selection. Awesome place!
Good gym that has what I need!
Good facility with lots of equipment and its very spacious too.
Dennis was the man, super helpful. large gym with plenty of machines
Would give a zero star if I could. The Gym is outdated, AC never works and the whole gym it is extremely dirty. The ladies locker room needs a deep cleaning, the carpet is so gross, I step on paper towel when changing my shoes. The corporate office does not care about any of the numerous members complains. Welcome Crunch.....
The Personal Training services are a scam. I signed up for 6 months of weekly meetings with a trainer. The person they paired me with frequently cancelled or rescheduled our appointments. She never took a baseline of measurements or weight for me to track progress. Said for over two weeks that she would email me an exercise plan, never did. The gym fired her and then explained that they were understaffed and didnt have anyone else available except Monday-Thursday evenings which doesnt work with my family/work/volunteer commitments. I asked to cancel the services and the PT manager said I could if I bought out half of my remaining months. What?! They couldnt even provide a trainer to meet during the day time hours but I was expected to pay for services they couldnt provide. He told me to take it up with corporate. I have called their corporate office and spoken with different customer service reps each time who tell me that the District VP is evaluating my complaint. This is ridiculous! They charged a $100 set-up fee for PT and $60 each session for 1/2 hour sessions. I have been charged for 12 sessions when I truly only receive 7 and they werent very good. (They self-admittedly fired the trainer.) The gym itself is okay, but DO NOT GET SCAMMED BY THEIR PERSONAL TRAINING. I still havent heard back from any higher ups at corporate. Their attitude around customer service is appalling.
Great gym and lots of cardio equipment. My son loves the Kids Club. Only 2 complaints. First is that it gets incredibly hot upstairs where the cardio equipment is and theres no ceiling fans. Second is that the Wifi is spotty upstairs as well so trying to play music without interruptions is difficult.
This location has the particular equipment that I need. I used to go to the location at Dale Mabry and Van Dyke. But the location on 54 has a great horizontal weighted crunch machine that works perfectly for me. I also very much prefer the Hammer Strength brand of machines because of the two sets of weights, one for each arm/leg. The location on 54 has more of these, particularly for muscle groups of most interest to me (e.g., incline chest press). The location on 54 also does not have a pool, sauna, basketball court, or racquetball courts, which is fine with me as I dont use any of these things. I much prefer this location even though its about a 5 to 10 minute further drive.
Clean. Nice staff. Close by. Great hours. Very pleased.
Lots of weight machines, and not as many cardio machines. The weight machines are nicely spaced out so you arent on top of each other. Located in empty shopping plaza so plenty of parking.
Equipment is a little outdated but has all the essentials. Really like going here because its not packed all the time. Wish the sauna was a little hotter but other than that good overall gym.
Never overly crowded, which I like. Employees are always kind. Free weight area is a little tight and more cramped than Id prefer. My preferred option if I go to the gym after work.
Great gym, has everything I need
Excelent place. IT has space for the children while you make exercise.
Who needs to pay rent? LA fitness has it all! Unlimited electricity (only during business hours), and the roommates I.e trainers are rarely there. For only $300 down and no credit check, you to can forget all the worries of food and family. Join the club of broke fit guys. Who needs a home when you can have abs. You can pay in USD, Euros, and souls, but the soul will last you a week.😀😂. Sign up now and we will throw in a mini towel.👍
Good Luck!! This place sucks, early am. Really, really - you think its ok to take up a squat rack for 45 minutes,?! And when you want to use it, its ok to sit there and stare at someone else when there using it?! Oh, and the group that comes in, early the five of you, that take up all the benches in front of the dumbbells, for 45 minutes, thats ok too?! Ridiculous!!
LA Fitness is a fine place theres one closer to home
Costs tripled since Lifestyles purchase. There has been no perceivable improvements in equipment or ambiance. A/C is either temperamental and broken from to time or it is set on a very high setting (80+ degrees?). Staff is oriented to themselves and not to guests. This is the closest gym to my home and this is very disappointing. I miss the Lifestyles facilities management and staff.
Jacuzzi pumps not working, with a lot of debris at the bottom of the jacuzzi, another member informed me that pumps have been out awhile. Updated equipment however clientele would block a single piece of equipment for their three sets and too many people sitting on equipment between sets on cell phones.Very busy during my visit.
The only thing that makes it better than the other filthy LA Fitness Centers is because LA bought out World Gym down the road and uses their equipment. But as it breaks, it vanishes for good. LA Fitness does not believe in standing leg curl machines and this gym has 3. But they have a no return weight and dumb bell policy there like all the LA Fitnesss and the racks are a mess and people drag one dumb bell to the locker room to do things with or way in the back in the spinning room. Nothing is picked up and trainers lounge around making cat calls. But its the only show in town as LA has bought out all the other gyms. You could do YouFit but its 80 lb limit on dumb bells is childish. You will see basically a ghetto gym where people just walk over barbells and weights..................its a mess. Management says they do not want to offend anyone by telling them to put away weights. You be the judge. Now they closed down Tampa Palms for a year to build a new place ( allegedly ) and guess where the idiots went to?? Crowded, filthy locker rooms, never paper towels in locker room, and a management staff that looks like they enter pir eating contests. You be the judge here............one star is gracious.
Rude, rude,RUDE! Very rude people working at this gym.I have a corporate membership.Met a friend here to workout, little did I know that it was time to renew again through the company.I had been to a La Fitness just down the road and had not been told this. One of the workers came over during my workout and told me,said finish your workout then come to the front desk.Finished with my friend then went to the cardio area he came back again and said come with me we have to get the resolvedI could not believe that I was putting them out this much to not allow me to finish my workout.Needless to say I left !Everything was handled very kind and professionally at the one on Bruce B Downs. The only reason anyone should go to this gym is because there are less people there...there is a reason why there are less people there!
Just a dirty gym with more equipment than the other LA fitness centers. Manager is something to behold and looks like she never worked out a day in her life. Its just dirty...........and run into the ground by last manager named Herb who tried to be a modern day Hitler but failed and they canned him. Staff largley a Foot Locker sales mentality. Do I need to go on?
Worst la fitness I’ve ever been to. Dated equipment, dirty and AC doesn’t work. Looking forward for Crunch to open across the street ✌🏻
Dennis is the best with a great deal
Good selection of weights and machines. Could benefit from a richer selection of fitness classes though.
Got a free guest pass for my dad, got email from JAMES MILNE welcome to try out the gym. We came in and he is trying to make us buy the membership or pay 15 $ for a day! Why would you waste my time sending me free pass and trying to charge me at the same time? Thats a rip off!!! Very rude attitude, Ive been a member of LA fitness for 5 years, and after this experience I am going somewhere else!!!
Clean, friendly, never too crowded. Great price and hours.
Its not crowded and the staff are all very nice.
Dennis is legit. No bells and whistles, just wanted to help me reach my fitness goals and he was not trying to sell me anything.
This is so stupid that the Functionnal Training area was recently closed. I understand that personal trainer needs a place for their clients but if you have only one functionnal training area then leace it open to the public. This is why we pay for a gym membership 🤨
Friendly people and wide variety of weights. I didnt have trouble with people hogging machines
Took some spinning classes (loved my instructor) to get ready for a ride. Try to cancel, I dare you. They dont want to let go of your credit card.If you are looking for a work out, go to CrossFit En Fuego on 41. You aren’t a credit card number.
My wife and I visited Land O’ Lakes Florida the first two weeks of April 2018, and we visited this LA Fitness. The manager, Vergil Campbell, was professional and kind. He gave us a good deal on a temporary membership. The staff was just as friendly as Vergil. The gym was clean. The gym has a large variety of equipment. The spin bikes look new, and all the equipment was in good working order. If you need a gym in Land O’ Lakes, go see Vergil. I give Vergil and this LA Fitness my highest recommendation.
Great workout but needs more frequent sanitation maintenance.
While the facility is somewhat dated, I like the gym and what it offers. Good variety and quantity of equipment.
I genuinely hope this posting makes it to the district manager of this facility. My mother who is a client has had two incidents now that has caused her to complain to the management today. Let me explain firstly, she was in a car accident over a year ago and is still dealing with the repercussions of the accident. She attends the gym as a therapy for her injuries. Upon walking in to the gym today, she had purposely stood aside to get out her membership tag on her keychain. At least seven other people went ahead of her slid their cards, walking directly into gym, unattended by the surrounding staff. As my mother approached the counter the associate flashed the scanner directly into my mothers eyes. This being the second incident to date.My mother who has worked in the service industry her entire life was extremely taken a back by the disregard of the associate behind the counter. Upon going into the locker room she had explained that she was beginning to get a migraine (due to the accident my mother is dealing with the permanent damage from a concussion). Unable to workout, she approached the front desk and asked the gentleman on the computer if she could speak to a manager. The man had told my mother that he was the manager, and not swaying from the computer told her he was listening. Coming from management myself this is not the way any manager should address a client. My mother then asked for his full attention considering there was something she needed assistance with. She had explained the situation in a nice manner as to let them know that she had genuine concern (as I can assure you she approached the situation with a professional position in the matter). The gentleman behind the counter seemed to disregard my mothers complaint, not fully listening and getting more defensive, moreover belittling the actual complaint at hand. This then became an escalation. My mother had raised points to the manager on the surrounding event on walking in, not to mention the caution she had taken not to be struck in the eyes with the scanner. The manager told my mother that from now on she was to surrender her keys, and that it was nothing short of policy that they scan the keys, making sure all keys are scanned (even though the seven customers before her just swiped and entered). This manager was rude and unable to understand the concern my mother had for her own health and the health and well being of their clients. This disregard for customer care, lack of empathy, and absence of professionalism, especially from a manager should be nothing short of a coaching opportunity for the staff. This incident was not the fault of my mother, raising some serious points in this matter to the management. There is much harm that can come from eye contact with a scanner, not knowing the clients health and the affects it can lead to. A customer should always be greeted before taking a membership especially if it is policy. Above all a manager should be able to address customers valid needs, giving them undivided attention when there is a sincere concern. As I had mentioned I was raised with the utmost respect for customer care having my mother raise me in this industry. Having later become a manager, dealing with escalations, anylizing the situation and retaining customers with respect and dignity. My mother left your facility in tears, aggravated, in pain and, unable to workout. Let me ask one question, if this was your mother how would this settle with you?
Front desk isnt always helpful and can be rude and abrupt. Fitness room is great because of fans on the ceiling. Plenty of machines.
Good selection of weight and cardio equipment. Locker rooms need serious updating/renovation.
Very dirty gym with a nasty General Manager and her little unprofessional assistant! I have been working out in gyms in many parts of the country since I graduated from college. I have always found the staff at gyms to be very friendly, and since I was a frequent member I would get to know them on a personal level. Today during my workout one of the staff came over and started to harass me about having my gym bag. He insisted that I put it in a locker. I told him he was free to check out my bag if he was concerned about what I was carrying. He told me they would not want to take the time to check bags. They also said they were worried about someone tripping ova er my bag. This, of course has never happened in all the years I have been attending gyms. Many people had their personal belongings all around the machine, with containers of protein drinks and jugs of water. A person is much more likely to trip over that mess. We left and went to another La Fitness that greeted us with a smile and has never found the need to harass us. Just think I am paying to be harassed at a place I go to workout my stress. This General Manager and all of her fellow workers give everyone an additude and a scowl when they check in. If you want to add anxiety to your workout, this would be your kind of place.
I have a great personal trainer and the staff is nice.
Tyler manager is the best
